  • Older mechanical horn/strobes sounding on a Siemens system at a hotel. Many of the older devices in this system sound rough or aren't working at all. There are plans for the hotel to get renovated, and these devices will likely get replaced in the process.
    Components (all Siemens/Pyrotronics):
    MXL series FACP (?)
    HSD-24F (Wheelock 7001T) Horn/Strobe
    U-MHU-MCS Horn/Strobe
    OOH941 Detector with ABHW-4s Sounder
    MSI-10B Pull Station
Signal coding is continuous for the HSD-24s and temporal (code 3) for the U-MHUs. Strobes are synchronized on U-MHUs, but HSD-24F strobes are not compatible with strobe synchronization. Regardless, these older horn/strobes are wired up to the synchronized NAC.
Below components are not seen in this video.
    SSD-C Annunciator
    AS-75-R-WP (Wheelock AS-WP) Outdoor Horn/Strobe
    Wheelock MT-24-LSM Horn/Strobe [possibly rebranded by Siemens/Pyrotronics]
Wheelock LSM-24 (single-gang) Strobe [possibly rebranded by Siemens/Pyrotronics]
    FP-11 Detector
There may be a PAD-3 in this system too.
Outro Image: Wheelock 7002T-24 Horn/Strobe attached to a crooked backbox in a medical building.

Nice to see mechanical horns still in use even if they are gonna be replaced soon.

      Yeah I agree.
Several places are switching over to voice evacuation because there seems to be more rules about that. Almost seems like a requirement for more places.

Except for those smoke alarms and a few Siemens UMMTs, they were mostly 7001Ts. A few sound quiet, sick weird or too fast. Are those comprised horn/strobes going to be repaired soon?

At 2:23, it sounds very similar to the one in this video of a 7002t.

This was a drill. The hotel was being used as a student dormitory at the time.
