Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world. - Видеоклипы
Proud to say that I found the master 8mm footage of whence this came! In 1983 at a record convention. Watching it on the screen from a projector was mesmerizing. It was silent and has been synced awesomely to the actual show. I sold it on ebay in about 2005 for about $300 if I recall correctly. So great to see it up on RUclips. Although the title lol could be better as it's clips of a bunch of songs.
just little bits of what made them the #1 touring act. It is not finesse but pure energy. JImmy and the band at their prime.
Nice seeing a couple seconds of the crunge, live
Now that's the Jimmy Page I fell in love with!
You're about 25. There's no way you were around in the 70's.
@@guitarttimman You’re never too young to fall in love with Jimmy Page
@@blairdrummond5043 I'm not in love with no man, but I love his guitar playing.

Jimmy
OMG! I love this little Jimmy dance 👏👏👏😍
He's such a cutie ❤
Jimmy at his cenit... Nothing could touch him. Pure raw talent, the just amount of speed and explosiveness. But most of all, his coolness... Despite his well known shyness, the guy was a real showman.
1972 Zeppelin, bloody hell, proof of why they're the best band in the world.
Lord have mercy. Where has this been??
I've said it before, and I will say it again. There were people who actually wanted to ruin the Led Zeppelin image because no band could stand up to them. It's a fact. I went to a lot of rock concerts and seen them live so I do know what I'm talking about. In some of the shows, the sound was weird. It sounded like a kid playing through one of those cheap 50 dollar amps. That tells me that someone was messing with their sound system. When you see a guy hitting notes with NO sound coming out, then you know something is wrong with the sound system. I know! I played in bands. You're only going to sound as good as the person running sound wants you to sound.
I don't know what band that goof saw but I'm here to tell you that Led Zeppelin played concerts in '70, '71, & 72 that people lucky enough to have witnessed them still get emotional talking about to this day. Including several future rock stars in their teenage years. Nobody has ever approached Zeppelin in their early prime, they managed to bottle lightning.
The Who.
i bought this film in bellingham, wa, in 1983 at a record convention and sold it on ebay in 2005. someone synched it up and then it made its way to the official zeppelin site. i do not kick myself for selling it any more. :)
James Patrick Page in TOP FORM.
No, he totally wasted. :)
They've never really been in bad form. There were times when they had their sound equipment sabotaged, but that wasn't their fault.
Agreed

everytime he plays he reaches a higher and higher level.... i dont think we've really ever seen the BEST of Pagey.... i do so hope he tours this fall, with jpj i heard
Isn't he like known for player worse and worse over the span of his career?
@@austinisme2477- When he was on heroin, Page sucked ass. When he was off it and had enough time to practice and get up to speed he sounded amazing, some examples being the mid 90s tours with Plant.
1:00 I love that little dance Jimmy does.
Jimmy at his best,so good!!
No Jimmy at his best would be his performance at MSG. The Song Remains the Same followed by Rain Song, and that mind blowing solo for No Quarter. He did some weird stuff for Stairway to Heaven, but it was still awesome. LOL. I think they were all very high in that song. ha ha
In all the super 8 or bootleg live stuff despite the dodgy quality you can still hear Jimmy’s fantastic guitar tones coming through. Too cool ✌️✨
thanks for posting! What an awesome concert this was to go to for an old RC farmboy- you dont hear it in this playback but this show was so freaking L O U D ! ! ! The good ol days lol
Despite the rough editing, Led Zeppelin live in San Bernadino '72 puts you in a state of bliss.
Jimmy is a beast on that guitar!
I was there.
wouldn't you have something to actually share, then?
I went to this concert. left side of stage. Woot Woot. Colleen Gale B.

Man Jimmy is in ROCKIN fine form here...one can see by late 70's drugs had dulled his Hendrix challenging edge. . .shame. Nowdays the old guy can't even hold a candle to what he was in these early days. . .love Zep from the early days....none better!
the funniest part is that the title says that this is black dog, but the black dog segment in the footage doesn't last more than 20 seconds
When you know that you can give a thumbs up..before hearing a single note!!
TMLZ!
I'm very old.... I was there..remember it like it was yesterday.......fantastic show...
Did you tape, film, or take any pictures?

Thee greatest band to walk the face of the earth
In 1972, Jimmy was at the peak of his legendary career both as a composer and a live performer. He never reached again such a high level in following years...This video and "How the West was won" (LA 1972) are proof
I don't know about that! Presence was a kick ass LP!
Marco Maman And one could equally state; "Listen to "Hots On For Nowhere" and "Achilles Last Stand" from 1976's Presence and this proves that Jimmy Page was in absolutely the best most productive years of his work with the band...” (Or whatever was written). And that's what I find so irritating about these kind of ”This is my opinion and therefore It Is Fact," type of comments. Learn the meaning of the word subjective friend... These things aren't patented to you by any legal or binding contract... They are just your feelings and opinions and nothing more. They are strong points of feeling for you! And that's a good thing. But it's not written in the stone which towers above Boleskine House on Loch Ness.
Thank you. I also try to explain the opinion/fact thing to people on many different kinds of things. They don't get it. :( I thought we learned that in school.
I think he got better with age.. until Bonzo died. Houses of the Holy. Phs, grafitti. presence. in throug the out door...
past the breakers- I like that Page basically played rhythm for the majority of ITTOD (excluding I'm Gonna Crawl, In The Evening, and Hot Dog.
This makes me want to play guitar
Not true. With dedication, research, and practice you can totally do that.
When I first started playing guitar, I respected Jimmy Page so much more !
@@kfw1205 now that you can play you don't respect him as much?

Jimmy's little dance before the crunge haha too cute.
Absolutely jaw dropping footage. Wow.

Stairways solo is soo amazing!
"and you never saw any of this back then" I began taking my life in my hands in 1971 at 7 sneaking my older brothers(football/ wrestling) LZ LP's,I paid the price quite a few times, getting caught & scratches. It wasn't until TSRTS was released that I even saw what they looked like in the album & a year later at the theater. There was NOTHING,no Midnight Special or Don K's before that, unless you went to the show.I'm 48,decades later & an absolute pig in shit with all this footage surfacing.
The only men I'm straight for
Eight people know nothing about music.... Zeppelin ♥
hopefully soon there will be another generation that will again appreciate true ingenuity and tangible technique over push button programmed regurgitated crap.
this is sorely missed and we need more of it immediately or sooner, please!
I saw Hendricks in the same hall,it was the house of echo!
Great! More vids with Page please!
A sober, in-prime Jimmy Page beats all guitarists to ever exist. Hendrix is probably like, "Damn, how is he fucking doing all that?" in heaven.
Hands down!
He was good, but Ritchie Blackmore in his prime absolutely blows Page out of the water in terms of technique
@@blairdrummond5043 ^^^ LOL!
@@zepguy3334 It's true, Blackmore is WAY more than Smoke on the Water, watch some of his stuff with Purple and Rainbow, he really was something.
@@blairdrummond5043 I 100% agree that Blackmore was awesome. Jimmy Page went on record saying he thought Blackmore was a better soloist. And Blackmore also speaks highly of Page. They’re both awesome riff writers - the greatest. In my opinion though Page was unique in how he brought so much depth, variety and texture to the Zep performances. He plays songs that have multiple overdubbed guitars with different tones on the records and somehow makes it seamless in concert. I think all and all, Zeppelins songs were better with greater depth and variety, and Page was the wellspring. Page was a better rhythm player, which is critical to Zeppelin music. I just think Page’s overall package was more exciting, even if Blackmore was the technically better soloist with better chops. But I love Blackmore too!
Such great footage!
LOL....I was at this concert in 1972...and it seem like I remember it. I was not worried about sneaking in an 8mm camera,,,,,,I was worried about the pint of Southern Comfort I took in.....I was 17 at the time.
Awesome
That was great! Awesome music!
@MegaZephead your right page is hands down the greatest ever but hendrix is amazing there in questions about that
I love it , nice....
Page at the top of his game !
Such swagger!
TheMoruno1 that's right, this show was before they released Houses of the Holy, but they allredy had writen and recorded the album. They also played "Over the Hills and Far Away", "Dancing Days" and "The Ocean" in this concert, that was later used for the "How The West Was Won" album.
@MegaBob77777 you right about that Pure talent at those DAY
..incidentally,some people here have said Page was a diminished(by drugs)player by '77,fact is he layed down some his very best live performances of his career in this time(another truth be told, throughout his 12yrs. W/Led Zeppelin,as a guitarist,he was SPECTACULAR).
"by '77,fact is he layed down some his very best live performances of his career in this time"
...and some of his worst.
77, very spotty indeed, one night was fantastic and the next would be awful. As a live band I'd say their absolute peak was 1971 and 1972. Put them up against anything before or since in those years and there's no comparison
Not just 1971-2 but also the two years prior... the 1970 RAH concert is proof that they were already at dizzying heights... '71 was where it went from epic to Godlike.
Some dream they could EVER be this good!
Awesome live !
Awesome!!
Incredible..this is rare 🙌👍
Unico, formidabile, incredibile come suona!!!! the best!!! I love!!
This is a confident Jimmy in his prime unfortunately in 73 all changed. Bad drugs broken finger one thing after another
He was fucking monster in 73, 75 is when things started to go bad.
@Deadhill Cemetery March 75 was pretty wack.
この頃(71-73)のJimmy のギターはテクニカルな面で一番安定しているので、やはり聞き応えがありますね。
左手のフィンガリングが正確なのとピッキングのアタックが強いのでギターの鳴りがいい!貴重な映像感謝です!
Did I just hear the god damn crunge?!! xD
This is the 'How the West was Won' period......Zep in TOP form!
Legend has it there were another three members in this group....
Who, if wasn't for Jimmy, nobody had known them
@luciabenedetti3893 I wasn't disputing that. It was a comment based on the focus of the camera. Although you could pose the question, would the Yardbirds have carried on and reached LZ heights? we'll never know, but something tells me no. So yes, Page "found" the other three, but each member was of equal value even if they were not all given equal attention.
Why do they always cut the footage at the climax of the STH solo??? That is the epitome of all things Zeppelin to me
Sean McGeeney probably because they wanted to put the camera down and actually enjoy the concert
They had to be careful. Security could break tapers' equipment and beat the shit out of them.
@@LastMilitia If you are dragging that equipment and taking that chance at that show you aren't there to put the camera down and enjoy the show. They were there to get as much footage as they can for as long as they can. Preferably the whole concert.
@@TheEWFX29 it’s amateur footage so the 8mm camera is relatively small compared to a massive 35mm one (the ones used for TSRTS)
@@ctrlshiftqq9846 Yes but to get it in is a chore. A friend of mine took pics at shows and it took three or four people to bring all that stuff in. I remember bring in lenses, film, extensions. It took a lot to get it in. And especially a Zep show where they were big on catching bootlegs. I can imagine trying to get that in in a era of tight clothes and skimpy outfits.
IN 1972 I SAW THE BEST CONCERT THAT WAS ALLOWED TO SEE :::::THE ONE AND ONLY. LED ZEPPELIN LIVE. THAT WAS A SPECIAL CONCERT, JIMMY PAGE, ROBERT PLANT, JOHN PAUL JONES, JOHN ON THE DRUMS

damn page was on that night... this is pretty cool. i love the showmanship and all the little dances he's doin while he plays. that's half the battle anyway... looking like you're playing something awesome and subsequently delivering.. haha
San Bernadino? that had to be at the swing auditorium, looooong time ago!
I always thought TSRTS was a bit tame too, Black Dog super slow and a bit flat, but it Page was on fire in WLL blues jam, Dazed, TSRTS and Rain Song are my fav performances. Page annihilates alot of solos in No Quarter you can find live recordings from Conneyfogle, he posts TONS of zep.
Jimmy bustin' out his 'the crunge' dance steps for the win!
haha @ Jimmy page getting down to the crunge!
wow, the crunge in there.
His posing was an extension of his showmanship. It wasn't for lack of playing or musical ideas. Just to give the punters in the cheap seats something to see. Don't forget this before the era of giant video panels which let the folks on the rafters see their idols up close and personal, even f you were half a football field away.
Bonham's green sparkle ludwig kit, -wow- !! It was his favourite, actually.
wow :45-:50 turning the tuners awesome!!
the Crunge at about 3 min...that has to be one of the few times they ever played it!
Jimmy from 1972-1975: will you marry me? I'm 27! Just get a time machine, no big deal. You'll get a kick out of 2012, although I'm sure the 1970s were a hell of a lot more fun. :D
@1954telecaster He can pose all he wanted, played guitar badass like no one.
SAN BER-FUCKIN'-DOO!
I remember I saw LZ in Seattle 6 18 72 and Jimmy Page was sporting a full beard at the time
If he was bearded then it would have been 71 or earlier - he shaved the beard during the Aussie tour in Feb 72 (after the Melbourne show but before the press conference 2 days later). All the footage from 72 AFTER Australia has him clean shaven. Indeed I think he's been that way ever since...
@kurd55 I appreciate your comments about them being good in the studio, and if you don't care for them live, but to judge sound quality from this isn't fair at all. This is either from a tiny 8mm camera mike with no way to control gain, or it was matched to the bootleg recording which was basically the same. C'mon, you're smarter than that.

72 was great for the entire Band. But think they peaked in 73 minus Plant. I do like the loose playing in 72, they’re still figuring it out, exploring kinda like page in 75. 73 page was prob his most balanced of being consistent and exploring
@mc8lgm If you like the '75 tour, I think you'll love the new soundboard that came out recently. It's from the Seattle show on March 17, 1975, and the sound quality is excellent, and the band is in really good spirits. It's called "Haven't We Met Somewhere Before?" on Empress Valley, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of other copies out there. Check it out if you can. Anyway...all the best.
I always wondered about JPJ’s use of that precision bass during this time. Does anyone know the exact songs he used it on? (The only ones I’m sure of are Black Dog, Whole Lotta Love, and Rock n Roll).
