Thank you, I've just bought a 2016 model. Now I understand the issues with stop start symbol. Off to the garage to hopefully remedy this issue. Very well explained. I have subscribed.
Hi everyone! I bought IdleStopper v2. (89 USD) in Sept 2023 and installed it in my wife's 2022 Honda Civic Touring. Works fantastic and never have to remind my wife "Did you press/push the Idle-Stop button so it is turned off?". It is now automatically Off and does not void any part of your Honda / Acura warranty. A simple device to install as may take 20 to 40 minutes to install depending on what model Honda/Acura vehicle you have. All it does is turn off Idle-Stop which you could do yourself. It does not affect the vehicle's operational ability or the ECM "Electronic Control Module" aka computer system in any way. This way when at a long traffic light or backed up for a while on the road from traffic congestion your vehicle will not stop idling and keep running. Imagine having the A/C on or the Heat going and the engine stops or maybe the engine fails to restart. The reason for Idle-Stop is government regulation on Emissions or to have less pollution. Idle-stop is annoying and aggravating as most people do not want it.
When you say easy fix, all you done is replace the battery? I got one fitted from Halfords but my start stop never worked ever since been 5k miles, paid extra for that "special" battery. Think I need dealer to register battery or similar.
My one is still working fine. Halfords offer a 5 year guarantee so that might be worth a try. I don’t think you need to get the dealer involved as they will just take your money. Hope that helps and good luck
Thank you very much bro for the advice I was really wondering where this problem is coming from I went to mercedes twice And each time they told me from the temperature of the climat it turned out that the battery
I was so glad the stop/start function stop working 2 years ago. I hate it. Fast forward to this last winter. My battery was slow to start my 2018 C class when it was 10 below zero. I guess it’s time to get a new battery before next winter.
Good vid , some questions please I am new , this is an S class what year is it pls ? Are there 2 batteries total in the car , one the main one in the boot and this the ECO battery ? tia.
It’s a C class and usually there is only one battery but the battery has 2 parts to it. One handles that normal car uses and the other part is for the stop start but you need to research your specific car model to know 100%. Good luck 👍🏼

@@robw3984 it doesn't, at all. You'd think that but it doesn't. We've tested that extensively and there's no such thing. It's just marketing BS. You're not gonna sit for hours at a stoplight and it will drive you insane when the engine shuts off in front of a zebra crossing. What it does though is damage the starter motor faster. Guess if that's cheap. It's not. If you replace it yourself it's not that bad but if you don't, it will cost you a bit. Anyway, I know for a fact it's a gimmick, despite the marketing.
You could try but if the capacity of the battery is low then charging it won’t make much difference. *Hopefully you understand how battery capacity works*
The issue will be different for everyone. Luckily, in the case of this video, it was the battery. It will highly likely also be the battery capacitor (auxiliary battery) at fault, which is located in the passenger side footwear area of the w205 c class. Try coding your battery and if that doesn't help then it's likely the battery capacitor.
I've got a question for you! Why the hell would you want to fix start/stop. It's the most aggravating thing I've ever seen on a vehicle not to mention that it doesn't save enough gas to even use it and it eats starters. I disconnected mine and it was the best thing I could do!!Stupid, stupid technology.
I get your point and preference but I think it’s better to have and not need than to need and not have. I have the option to turn it off if I need to at a press of a button. I didn’t necessarily fix it because I want to use it but more to have things working as they should.
I have got.a similar issue. The stop-start doesn't start. However, I noticed that if I do long-distance driving and drive regularly, it keeps working fine. Not sure, if mine is just not going the distance for the battery to charge. Also, I am under warranty for my car, do you think Merc will replace the battery?
Having issues with mine at the moment. Replaced main battery and it was ok, a few weeks later it stopped working again and then the middle media screen would randomly turn off. & and the heating/parking sensors would not work the same and got the aux battery malfunction error so I replaced the aux battery and it worked for about a week and then I’m back to square one again.. honestly considering just changing cars at this point
Have you driven for a bit to charge the battery up a bit? Are all the criteria being met? Eg seatbelt on, engine temp, heater and A/C off etc? Also, when it’s very cold outside it doesn’t always come on as it would in warmer temperatures. My one only came on once this week
@@mrlopes1234 Drove it for 40 mins in town and on the Motorway, engine was hot, AC was off, outside temperature was 9°C seatbelts we're on but nothing. Will take it on a 1hr Motorway drive on Monday and see if anything happens
@@mrlopes1234 Yes, still showing Yellow, checked voltage on both batteries both at 14v+ I replaced the Aux Battery in the boot as that was showing 10v originally. Thought that would fix it but it hasn't
@@osmanchoglay445 I’d maybe try to get it plugged in to run a diagnostics and see if it throws up any error codes then. If the stop/start symbol shows but is in yellow it usually means that it’s working but the criteria has not been met. Of stop/start was faulty then it usually won’t show a symbol or there’s be an error message. Depends on what car you have.
Car need to meet certain criteria before it activates the STOP/START function. EG… seat belt must be on, battery charge must be over a certain percentage, engine temperature, if the heater or AC is on and a couple others. Good way to test it it to do a 30-45mon drive and the stop/start symbol should turn green. If not then turn the car off then on again and it should come up. As the temperature is so cold now it puts pressure on the battery. But it’s very normal to not be active all the time. My car does that too. Hope that helps
Sounds like the battery level is too low when the stop/start activates so the car turns itself back on because the criteria is usually around 70% for stop/start to function. Take it for a long drive to charge up the battery and if it still happens then your battery capacity is probably to low and you might want to think about getting a new battery. Also remember that the cold weather has a big affect on batteries so when it warms up it might act different. Hope that helps 👍🏼
What year and model is your car? I thought replacing a start stop battery is not as simple as you have done 🤔. A stop start battery requires to be registered and reprogrammed.
Also… do you drive with seat belt on or off. If you don’t wear your seatbelt then the stop start will not work. How far do you drive when you do trips, the battery need charging and sort trips will not allow the battery to charge properly
