    For me as a diagnostic technician at MB, it is incomprehensible that so many workshops had problems finding the faults. I'm not familiar with this type of A class,but in 4 years a vital module to go bad 😔. No wonder the customer stated that out of the blue there was no crank.
      In some cars at that location it gets hot. So eather there was a bad manufacturing or bad design.
      Most times bad manufacturing will not be a reason to change the part number of the part. So bad design is my guess.
      Now to be fare, Mercedes could have decided to use this module in other new vehicles or they might have changed something for the newer facelifts. This could be a reason to redo the design of the module in order to work for all versions of cars. Or they messed up in the first place and do not accept the blame, to be fare .

    Hey mate, I just wanted to tell you that other car repair shops are being pissed with you right now. It's like that, because you actually have conscience. They dont want to help others like you do. I had a mercedes and sold it because i was tired of people not being able to fix those little issues on my car. I couldn't find a decent guy like you who could help me. Its really sad i did watch the audi e tron video with the automatic transmission problems from just a gasket and solenoid. Saying thank you for what you do simply isn't enough. I just wish that more people can be that way and help others. Its really sad, not because of the car sitting for one year, but because we as people are worse than animals, we are monsters who would go so low to screw one another over some pieces of paper called "money". Instead of that we can just help each other, like you are doing. God bless you for that man! Loving your videos and i'm also frustrated about my merc aswell, if i knew a guy like you i would pay double for the work! You deserve it, best wishes from Bulgaria 🙂

    On the original module I would trace the red/pink wire from the connector to the IC that controls it. possibly a solid state relay or a mosfet. Next check datasheet, find input and probe the input with a scope. Pretty much the same fault finding technique but on a board level.

    Encountered this fault several times why no one could fix it before is puzzling not a hard one to diagnose really but I have found that if you leave the relay in but leave enough of a gap to gain access to the pins of the relay then ground the control pin it resets the SAM & the engine will start again, no new part needed strange but it worked every time & didn’t have a comeback.
    What no one failed to notice is that you left out struggling to remove the console lid release button trim & no doubt broke the plastic catches 😂 I don’t blame you if you did their a pig to get off.

      Waarschijnlijk een transistor/Mosfet probleem maar deze modules staan bekend om veel problemen ( deze was nieuw voor mij) en het nieuwe onderdeel nummer moet veel van de bekende problemen oplossen. De vraag is ook hoeveel tijd en moeite wil je investeren voor een redelijk betaalbaar moduul. Ik denk inderdaad dat er nog wel wat werk aan deze auto zit en als dat interessant lijkt te zijn zal ik de camera weer aanzetten!

    Hi Dan, love your videos. Can you expound on whether you should have the car's AC off when starting it? I've been told to do that by the AC specialty shop, but years ago I was told that since the start circuit doesn't energize the clutch, I don't need to have it off, it won't turn on the compressor until the key is in the run position. Now that I live in Florida, the AC life is very short. 5 compressors blown up in the last 15 years in 4 cars.

    • @Diagnosedan
      @Diagnosedan  Год назад +2

      In Florida the AC has to work a lot harder than where i'm from indeed😂 On modern cars it doesn't matter. The AC button is no longer a on/off button and the AC is computer controlled and it only switches on or off when it meets alot of parameters.

    As a electronic engineer myself, I’ve noticed that if spare parts are obsolete, mainly due to often breakdown, especially in a normal lifetime of a piece of equipment, it is replaced by an upgrade, better quality part.
    There is also the new number coming from 😉.
    That could also being an indication that you’re on the right track.

      I suspect the same, and its proberbly fixable but these modules have some known issues ( this is not one of them as far as i know) and the new partnumber should be better. And it was quite affordable
