    How do you know where the crank is, or does it mater as long as you start with the crank at 5 clock then 7:30 for the passenger side. can the crank be 360 degree off, or what piston should be firing or does this matter?

  • @sKoutzyy

    Extremely helpful. Dumb question. On reassembly, im trying to torque the harmonic balancer. Summit says 103 ft lbs, back off 1/4 turn, then 74 ft lbs.....alldata says, 103 ft lbs, loosen 360 degrees, torque to 74 ft lbs after that, then go 90 degrees. Im worried about that. I'm trying to follow all of the instructions but i just feel like that's too much. Can you let me know which one is right?

    • @Oxman_Garage
      @Oxman_Garage  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! The first one you listed is correct. You got this! :)
      103 lb. Ft.
      Loosen 360
      74 lb. Ft.
      90 degrees

      @@Oxman_Garage awesome thank you man. Slapped it all back together and it runs like new. Followed alldata originally but finding your video gave me such peace of mind with physically seeing how you had it lined up compared to mine with the timing marks.
      One thing I can definitely say to anyone is use the proper tool for that crank pulley. I tried to using the install bolt from MMR and didn't have much luck unfortunately. Not sure if it was just me or if there was something I was doing wrong or what. Started feeling way too tight as I brought it in, I stopped and decided to rent the tool, lucky I did because when I took the MMR bolt out, it seemed it was trying to strip the threads either on the bolt or in the crank a little. Saw like 1 or 2 metal shavings. Rented the OEM tools balancer installer tool and it went on like butter. Barely had to use force, I guess because all of the force is applied to the nut and not rotating in the threads of the crank.

    You should make a video of installing the mustang intake cams in since a popular upgrade..watched both of these gen2 timing videos and since doing the intake cam swap but the phaser marks don't line up

    • @Oxman_Garage
      @Oxman_Garage  Год назад +1

      If you're going to swap to Mustang camshafts, make sure you swap both the intake and exhaust cams

    • @Oxman_Garage
      @Oxman_Garage  11 месяцев назад

      If you use Mustang intake cams, you need to use Mustang exhaust cams as well. The 2015-2017 Mustang and F150 have different firing orders. I have a How to time a 15-17 Mustang GT video as well.

    I saw your video on installing timing chains on a Gen2 F150 and noticed that the process is different than doing Gen2 Mustang. All the other videos I’ve seen show starting with the crank at 5 o’clock and then rotating 360* and back to 12 o’clock. For the F150, you say to start at 5 o’clock and then go to 7:30 to do the passenger side. I haven’t been able to find that anywhere else. Would you mind clarifying? I have a 2017 F150 motor with F150 cams.

      you’re right but on the F-150, key way was at 3:30(not 5) , put the left chain on, then turn to 7:30 and put the right chain on.
      note: when you remove it, you remove the right chain first from the 7:30, since you only want to turn the crank clockwise, you go 1 revolution to 7:30, then do a half turn more to 3:30 where you can take off the left chain.
      Pay attention, you will see the R on the right side at 11oclock, you will see the L mark on left side at 1oclock.
      be carrful

      Put it in the position shown, even if the cam isn't all the way down. Start the tourqe procedure. If the cam moves, use a wrench on the flats of the cam to keep it in position.

    Hey, I have a gen 2 f150 that I am going to be pulling apart to do opg’s and cs. I have done the gen 1 stuff but not gen 2. Since the gen 2 f150 is different than the gen 2 mustang, what is the procedure to disassemble it down to do those mods? Where to start the keyway? How much to turn keyway when switching sides, etc?

    Hey can you leave the cam caps on and set the timing like that or would I need to loosen them up to move them and also does it matter if it's TDC or are the valves clear of the piston when the key way is placed correctly

    • @Oxman_Garage
      @Oxman_Garage  Год назад

      The cam caps have to be tourqed in place to time the system. If you follow the procedure, the pistons will be below the valves, so there's no piston to valve contact.

    When installing my drivers side long chain, it is impossible for me to line up the "L" Hashmark on the exhaust phaser and still line up to the D-Slot with my exhaust phaser pin as you described. It appears my exhaust phaser is marked "R" where yours is marked "L" and "L" where your is marked "R". Will it affect anything if I line it up to the "R" instead of the "L" on the drivers side ?? Have not checked the passenger side yet but guessing I will run into the same thing. I do have ford OEM Phasers by the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
