- Finally! A music video behind the scenes many of you have been waiting on for a while now! In this video i run through a behind the scenes on set with Bonfice shooting his latest single 'Self Made' (Full Music Video Link Bellow). This music video was shot in a one location, controlled environment inside of a house with the exception of a 30 minute meet up with the artist to capture the scenes with a car to add to the video days after the initial shooting happened. In this video i go in-depth of my gimbal movements, handheld movements, simple yet effective lighting techniques, how i vibe with my music video clients on set and how you really don't need many resources to push out some great music video content. Bonfice was the featured artist in one of the top viewed music video tutorials on RUclips (How I Shoot Rap/Hiphop Music Videos - Link Bellow) so it was awesome to finally take the time to recreate another awesome and informative music video breakdown. @@aarondazz9413 There was a BTS shooter on board helping shoot. Sucks it was shaky but end of the day it was more of a tutorial based video. As for costumes, not sure if it would make much sense to swap out if you're shooting in one location in the same house. We technically did costume change for the driving scenes!

I guess you used smaller aperture there with the back and forth movement to get everything in focus all the time, right? Just wondering if one should be pulling manual focusing sometimes (like in a one shot video one must perhaps, unless good light all the time)

I use the smallHD501 monitor! I love it. It uses 2 of the newer Canon batteries and is extremely sharp for prime, reliable focus!

I personally do! Gives me more footage to play around with!

Hey is possible to slow motion musics video with 60fps and mouth say words that match with the audio if the audio was recorded before and video was also shot after???Any idea on that or it's troublish task in editing to archive that give tip on that please and thanks in advance.
Theres a way to do it! I would look up 'Creative ryan slow motion music video'. I believe he made a tutorial about that!
Thanks man, great tutorial! BUT, what if your camera doesn't have IBIS? Would it still be possible to do handheld shots like this?
Thank you man!! and honestly at that point, try to keep it as steady as possible. a lot of the times too i will turn my IBIS completely off to achieve a controlled 'shaky' effect!

Great stuff brother. Absolutely 🔥. Im getting ready for a hip hop video out near Jasper. I filmed a lot of things but music videos are a new genre for me. I love the GH5 with sigma 18-35. Its my go-to setup.
NICE!! Thats so awesome man. The GH5 and 18-35mm setup is the all time GOAT. I use a Lumix S1 now and will be upgrading to a Panasonic Eva1 cinema cam + Lumix S1H. The GH5 will always have a place in my heart though haha.

I use the gh5 as well, I see the technique of moving either back to front or side to side used. What's your aperture typically at to account for losing focus? Or do you welcome it as an added style to the video?
GH5 is the goat! I set my aputure to 1.8 or 2.8 if I'm going side to side and about 3.5-5.0 if I'm moving in and out!

Nice man, I’m just starting to get into filming music videos and this answered some of my questions. The thing that confuses me is shooting multiple scenes in different frame rates then cutting them where I need them. But you film wide, close and 24/60 the whole song through right? Also when do I film all of my b roll?
Yup I film the whole song through for performanc scenes and then switch between 24/60/120 just to have a variety of scenes. I first shoot my performance scenes in a location then after the performance scenes are done, I quickly grab some B-roll!

How do you go about focusing on multiple subjects on frame that move around? I assume a higher aperture, but what kind of focus do you use? Great work by the way!
When I'm handheld, I've learned to pull focus extremely quickly when shooting manual. It makes the world of a difference mounting a monitor to your camera so you can get a good idea of what is in focus at all times and keep it nice and sharp. Honestly it's just been years of shooting manual
