This week i came across this beautiful stainless steel barrel and decided to turn it into a pizza oven!
you can actually pull out the bricks like a drawer which makes it a lot easier to load the oven with wood and pizzas :)

So cool. The sliding tray is such a great idea! Also loved the carving of the handles for the air vents and how not having a professional pizza peel didn't stop you from enjoying your creation.
That came out awesome. The wood handles were excellent and the slide out is brilliant. Simple solution for less burns. Now I want some pizza!
❤️
Exactly
I love how your approach to pizza making is basically "circles are dumb, I just want food"
Yes, no need for Napolitan style. Romans do Pizza al taglio, rectangular pizzas ftw! It just makes sense doesn't it? ;)
I would like to see what Alex the french guy is thinking about your Pizza Oven, where he is lately on a mission to build the best Pizza Oven
was thinking the same, as I saw the video title ;-)
OMG, I would LOVE a collab between Laura & Alex! They would make an insane contraption that will out cook anything.
i like his idea better:))
Yes! I've used the recipe for pizza dough from Alex and it's great! That would be such an awesome collaboration project!
Laura!
That hinge is so smart! Love watching how you problem solve.
So many great fabrication ideas in this one! Like the nut welded at the end of a pipe for the air vents, the hinges, and the slide out tray. All brilliant! 🖤🖤
Wonderful way to start my Sunday, thank you
I like that you are always thinking, and doing ways to recycle and reuse objects. Even things that were not it’s original purpose. That might be a book idea, or another channel.
Karl Mingus Me too! She’s inspired me to make loads of things with bits of junk
Now I think how cool if Laura and Alex from FrenchGuy Cooking would collaborate on Pizza oven and Pizza hacking!
I was thinking the same thing, at least Alex making the pizza
That needs to happen!
hello everyone .. who is Alex? I'm French I don't know 😅
@@astonnotsa6770 this is his channel ruclips.net/user/FrenchGuyCooking
Beautiful pizzzza oven! Love the no-lathe lathe work!
Less than 1min in the video and I'm already impressed by how you manage to cut the top in a way that it line up all around. It would be a mess of a circle if it was me hahaha

I really look forward to watching these after a walk alone on a sunday, just a really feel-good vibe always
It's funny how men and women react the same way to a finished project involving food: the "kammanessen"-nod. 😂😅
😂
Do I understand correctly that "kammanessen" means "Kann man essen", which translates to "you could eat this", which is understatement for "this is really good"?
@@daanwilmer Yes! I didn't think any non-German would get this but you've perfectly explained it.
Thank you Laura for making a video of a barrel pizza oven I can actually watch.
Very cool I enjoyed this even closed my eyes when you lit the blue lights lol.. I wonder how many did the same.. keep up the great content
Very nice project. My favorite moment is still the use of the Laura Kampf pocketlathe! You have to convince festool to sell it as an artist tool.
I love the techniques you use.
Laura, in any medium you are a master in creating stuff . Very innovative and loved watching the build. Thank you😊
From design wise I think you should flip the door, add ears and a pigtail :)
😂
Reminds me of Neil Pask's old forge
I saw one like that on instructables site, very cool; definitely easy add on.
oh wow, nice! yt randomly put this video in my feed so here i am! only modifications id make are more stable feet and maybe a simple latch on the door, just to keep strong winds from flipping it open
Wonderful, my daughter and I enjoyed this video very much and we both ❤🍕
WOW, this is a very cool build, I may make one for my backyard!
Seriously ...someone should sponsor a small plasma cutter for that awesome lady !
Now you just need to invite Alex (frenchguycooking) for a better dough 😂😂
i agree.
Love your design and build. You need to construct a rocket stove similar to Tom Mills (Green Shortz DIY) to heat your barrel using found wood and fallen branches. Add connection to bottom of your barrel and a smoke vent / chimney off the top. Thanks for sharing this video. Wishing you and your family peace, health and happiness during the pandemic and beyond. Greetings from NE Ohio USA.
Great film, nice story telling. Can almost smell it cooking. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Laura, Hum? Wow? So many great ideas to think about on the pizza oven I want to make. It is crazy how many cooking things you have made over the years - love it. Making and food, very important. Cheers, Steve TTF
Yes, I somehow keep coming back to cooking projects :)
LOVING the hinges ... and the Laura Kampf hand-held lathe! Thank you!
hi laura now i see this video, me i am neapolitan, and this oven is fun and very good.
Creative ideas and delicious pizzas! Now that's how you enjoy a Sunday!
Wow that looks great, nice looking pizzas too
I don't know what is more exciting, the construction or the pizza
Sicily: Pizza is a square shape!
New York: Pizza is a round shape!
Laura: Pizza is a shape
Ok, now I am hungry! Pizza, better than you can get at the pizzeria because you made it in your own DIY oven. Thanks Laura.
All the things you make are very cool. I like this style of video and how it shows how you made something. That said, the main reason I watch this channel is for Smudo.
I really love that moveable tray, easier to clean and its just a great improvement.
Rustic is the word that comes to mind. I enjoy all your videos Laura, 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You combined making and pizza, this is my perfect RUclips aesthetic.
So odd... I've been watching your videos for ages, and only now noticed that you are left-handed. :)
Fun project!! My wife sees my gas blacksmithing forge and asks when we're going to make flatbread in it. Maybe I can use that as justification to build a bigger forge.
Cool looking project 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻
Laura, You are Awesomely Talented. Great video.
Thanks for sharing. Felix!
The only aspect more impressive than the camera work is the attention to detail. Fantastic work!
Extremely nice Projekt
Love the vid. Basic tools, practical design = tasty pizza
It was hilarious to watch an ad for a $5,000 pizza oven before your video. It is encouraging to see someone think outside the box. I want to be with you if a zombie apocalypse comes!
nice video. How about some results data? What kind of stone temperature where you able to get? Chamber temperature is important to cook the top of the pizza, otherwise you'll burn the bottom of the pizza and barely melt the cheese. Pizza ovens are designed to keep the heat within the cooking chamber and not vent it all out by opening the front of the oven. Try a smaller opening to just add and remove the pizza. Thanks.
Wow, great job!! Greetings, from Brazil.
I love that wooden handle
Very cool (HOT🔥!) idea. Love how you take things no one else wants & turn it into something useful. Best part is you can say "I built it myself". 😊
That pizza looked so tasty!
Another great build!
All this work to make a badass steampunk pizza oven...and then the pizza suuuuuucks !!! :D But I guess the steampunk pizza is also part of the aesthetic uh? ;)
Very clever way to use your drill and carver as a lathe. Super cool! And you are too. Love your work, Laura. :-)
That's so awesome
Great project and video. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Laura, awesome build! If you want to retain some more heat in an open door situation I reccomend putting a metal plate over the top third or so of the opening. That way you will trap a 'bubble' of hot gasses in there and the gasses that do escape will be from lower in the oven, thus being cooler and draining less energy.
Also, oftentimes in woodfire ovens they add a piece of fresh wood just before the pizza goes on to increase the radiative heat the top of the pizza gets.
it came out fantastic! loved the making progress on insta
Another great build !! Perfect for summer ;)
I like the vice you have on your milling machine.
Really nice!!!
Guter Drehbankersatz ;)
Löcher in die Decke, Gasbrenner rein, voila, Feldschmiede!
Instant Drehbank! sehr sehr cool!
Love it. So very practical you are. Green Olives on pizza is very important How about mushrooms, green pepper and anchovies? lol Probably not your cup of tea.
Laura - pizzaiolo. Bellissimo!
Yum! I built a cob oven but your one is great for portability and great to see old stuff being repurposed. FYI if you stretch the video out to 10 mins you get a lot more revenue from YT. Now I’m off for a pizza!
Cheers Laura- thanks for sharing another awesome video. Happy Sunday and stay safe & well :)
Sweet!
that's a cool project! I love your drill lathe for sanding the handles.
Is that a heating barrel? Very cool idea 👍 cutting a round hole in metal can be a pain :D don't get rid of the tubes inside the barrel, you can make a really cool hot tub heating system with that tubing
Ausgezeichnete Idee und auch lecker
Looks Awesome!
So relaxing to watch, a piece of art as always !! I love your videos :)
idea: why not use large empty lower chamber as the fire box? Leave a gap in the back for hot air to flow up and through to chimney.
Another great project!
Fabulous pizza oven! I wanted a taste of your pizza!
Sehr schön gemacht
Big job 👍
Time to buy a lathe! Great work Laura!
Excellent use of materials to make a really cool pizza oven! 😄
I'm curious, do you think you lose much heat by pulling the brick shelf out to move the fire?
LG 🤗
Excellent build, I can't eat pizza anymore but in this case I'd have to make an exception, I love green olives on pizza!
Very cool.
Gooodd... I' m really hungry now. Cheers from Argentina!!!
Nice video, nice pizza and nice worker!
Congrats Laura, regards from Argentina.
You ar good congratuletions from México 👍
Very talented
Wow Laura - geniales Projekt!
You guys in Germany have to understand one crucial thing about pizza: the base is tomato AND mozzarella. Everything else on top. You don't put tomato, then other stuff, then mozzarella. That is just wrong. Greetings from Italy :)
Nope that way is purely American. The good stuff from Italy originally was olive oil and a single topping. Tomatoes came from the "New World." Italians were eating Pizza before they had tomatoes.
great job
Super cool build!!! Very nice oven and great video! Now I am hungry :D
Outstanding build! My back and knees hurt watching the first few seconds 😁🤙 I'd be on the floor after carrying that
Even though so many have already mentioned it... you should really do a colaboration with Alex! I think your skills and his would add up really well.
Gran trabajo excelente me encantó saludos desde Uruguay
Fantastic Laura, was that an old water boiler that you used to create your pizza oven and did you and your friends enjoy 😊 the pizza afterwards????????.
Awesome work Laura! 🤤👌🏻🔥🍕👍🏻👊🏻
Make sure when you weld stainless steel to CRS(cold rolled steel - carbon steel) that you use a special welding rod or corrosion will start at the interface. Nice video, great heater.
That looked delicious.
