Fair warning: If you happen to be flying your B-17 are are being followed by green floaty things....shit's about to get weird.
Man, the zombie one's so cool!
Hunter Killer Not so much for the lone survivor tho - but they were nice enough to have him over for lunch at least.
Yes indeed.
Lol!
This song will forever remind ME of that long hot summer, and burning B-17s followed by green floaty things and extreme weirdness.
Justa Drummer And boobs. Lots and lots of cartoon boobs.
+NorthForkFisherman What if you're riding the New City Subway system being that it's filled with weirdos? Lol
Oh crap. Kenny's Cheesing!

Was 22 when this was released...but all I can think of now is Kenny and major boobage.
By age 18, every kid should see this movie. It is a rite of passage into adulthood.
The best of metal is HEAVY METAL

I think drugs are the only reason I appreciated it
philaman1972 I agree
I got a copy when i was 14. I spilled more seed then a Parkinson's patient filling a Bird Feeder.
Collected all the magazine's for almost 2 decades.
A recent Facebook poll asked, "What song intro makes you turn it up immediately?" Saw the movie first, bought the album, later the CD and even the DVD. Cold-blooded!

@@bigspaghetti9065 You can't be serious with that question?
Dude. I am cheesed out of my mind.
@Tomas ten Cate lmao 😂😂
No words can describe how awesome this song really is...
I’ve listened to this on acid and mushrooms. It really does envoke feelings and CEVs of flying. It’s a great song. Whenever I’m tripping this gets played along with Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Ozric Tentacles, The Doors, Tygers of Pantang, Judas Priest and Saxon, and selected other bands and tracks.
Have you tried it on cat piss?
@@Pwnzistor 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 south park drugs
@@Pwnzistor I was gonna say the same thing !! That's funny !!
Why don't you listen to Acid Rock for that ?!
Heavy Metal ain't dope music
Watch or listen to Pink Floyd The Wall or Rush Moving Pictures or Queensryche Operation Mindcrime. All great music while tripping.

Ill never forget when I saw this at the theater when I was like 13 changed my life :) Kept the sound track close to my heart all these many years!!!!
( did the math and I was 16 when I saw this LOL such a long time ago :)
Michelle Larkin I was 6 when this came out originally, I think I saw it for the first time when I was around 12 or so. Late 80's. I still love this movie to this day. I miss the big hair era..... :(
This cane out in the movies? Damit
I was 12 when it was released in 81.
My oldest sister took me to see it.
The good ol days..
The one great example, that Metal is not just grinding, riffing, slaming and high speed. Such a cool and chill song to have in your music repertoire.
the last minute of this could be expanded upon and looped for endless guitar pleasure...
hahaha it would be awesome!
awesome classic rock track, from eagles legend don felder. so bad ass and i love the animated 1981 movie heavy metal, who is gonna come down this fun road with me to heavy metal.
u nailed it
Ha ha thanks
Present.
me
Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum I didn't know that, always loved the eagles, my Uncle actually met them in the 80s, they were renting an apartment down the street from him cuz they were so famous they couldn't get a moment of peace, so they rented a random apartment so they could have some quiet. He ended up smoking weed with them and he said they told him there names and he said he was like "Glen fry? I feel like ive heard that before" lol(he was a hardcore druggy back then, so it's not surprising he didn't realize at first), they eventually told him who they were and when they left they carved there names into his coffee table, he rolled joints on that coffee table till the day he died. I know that sounds like some bullshit lol, and I have no way to prove it, by the time he died his house was like a hoarder nightmare so god knows what ever happened to the coffee table, he died so suddenly and left no will, so it probably ended up in a landfill, but i damn sure saw(and rolled on) the coffee table and he had a super old picture of him as a young man drinking with them, it was them for sure, I thought he was full of shit till he got pissed off and dug the picture up. The picture and especially the coffee table would be worth serious money now I bet. But I could be making all of it up lol, I probably wouldn't believe such a crazy story but it did happen. He also sold acid to the grateful dead and followed them for years, he met a lot of famous musicians in the 70s and 80s, but that was always the story he told, and the only one he had concrete proof of lol.
I love this song......Don Felder ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
+sharkman4928 One of the most under-appreciated talents in American Rock, Felder had a huge impact on many of the "standards" that Henley and Frey get nearly all the credit for. Yeah, the lyrics are iconic -- but so is the music! I mean, seriously, is the song "Hotel California" taken nearly as seriously without the fantastic guitar music?
Why do they call it cheesing?
Because it's Fon to Due.
Killed me
Shit, I thought the joke was the news mocking the way the CoOl KiDs talk until I read this comment and realised it's a pun.
"He never did... anything that was... illegal... Unless you count all the times he sold dope disguised as a nun."
Sssttteeerrrnnnn!!!!!
"He's nothing but a low-down, double-dealing, backstabbing, larcenous
perverted worm! Hanging's too good for him. Burning's too good for him!
He should be torn into little bitsy pieces and buried alive!"
"I have never known him to do anything immoral. Unless maybe the preschooler's prostitute ring...
Shut up! Shut up! Ssstterrrnnnn...!!!!
+CQ Morrell I'll kill him KILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I see you are enticed by my daughter's awesome boobage.

Heavy Metal brought me here. For the kid's that don't know, Major Boobage *was* * inspired by that movie.
other way around idiot...
hey kid, Heavy metal inspired major boobage, just to let you know.
bad74maverick1 i have two donkey horns
bakalakpal Can you read? I left out the WAS, my fault but even a 12 year old could understand what I meant. It was inspired BY Heavy Metal? Ever watch a movie trailer where it says a movie was inspired BY a true story? Same thing as saying Heavy Metal inspired Major Boobage. You both are idiots.
a classic movie and a classic south park episode
South Park robbed me of the ability to ever take this song seriously.
I'm cheesing my balls off right now
+Law Dawg LOL how does one chesse there balls off...tell me so i can avoid it LOL sounds infectious
+Anthony Williams really?
+RomanceGirl6666 Sorry for ya, RG! I saw this at 1AM at the theater my brother managed - the day before the local movie critics got to see it. The last movies (12 screen theater) were done, the theatre was closed, we had beer...It wuz AWESOME!
+RomanceGirl6666 I saw the song portion of the episode....the ripped off Heavy Metal so dang bad.
I'm a open minded person musically but today's music can't stand up to the classics
true. I was born in 94 and i love 70s n 80s music more than any other decade
ya just have to know where to look. Still loads of good music being made today, just not on the charts.
Brian Callahan blue pills, the sword, witchcraft, orange goblin...yea your right modern day music sucks lol fucking dipshit

I just finished watching Heavy Metal (great film), but I would have never heard of it if it wasn't for South Park. Best show ever. Matt and Trey are quality guys and pure genius.

Don "Fingers" Felder & Walsh were the hard rockers in the Eagles. Changed the Eagles from a country rock band to a rock band.
Fire it on up and let's cruise a while
Leave your troubles far behind
You can hedge your bet on a clean Corvette
To get you there right on time
Now if you're ready to dive into overdrive
Baby, the green lights are on
It's like you're running your brain on some high octane
Every time she reaches fully blown
Won't you take that ride on heavy metal?
It's the only way that you can travel down that road
Satisfied on heavy metal
Baby won't you ride, ride it until it explodes
Heavy metal
My oh my, how this lady can fly
Once she starts rollin' beneath you
You know you just can't lose, the way she moves
You wait for her to finally release you
It's not a big surprise to feel your temperature rise
You've got a touch of redline fever
'Cause there is just one cure that we know for sure
You just become a heavy metal believer
Won't you take that ride on heavy metal?
It's the only way that you can travel down that road
Satisfied on heavy metal
Baby won't you ride, ride it until it explodes
Heavy metal
Heavy metal
Heavy metal...
Nice. Thank you.
Thanks for the lyrics, Snake Pliskin!
Thank you!
I love this song! I remember seeing the movie Heavy Metal in the theater with my high school buddy, Christopher Homan. In 1981 we were both juniors in high school. If you haven't seen the movie, as this song is playing, there's a man in an astronaut suit sitting in a 1950s Corvette. Doors open on the bottom of a space shuttle and the Corvette drops out. He actually drives through the clouds, then touches down on planet Earth.
Chris thought it was funny that the Corvette touched down and THEN the parachute opened.
actually that's sammy hagar's song heavy metal that plays over that scene. this song plays over the B-17 scene.
joe schibetta actually, that's "Radar Rider" by Riggs playing over the Soft Landing scene.
Harry Canyon tracks "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" BOC "True Companion" Donald Fagen "Heartbeat" another Riggs Track "Blue Lamp" Stevie Nicks and "Open Arms" Journey.
Captain Sternn tracks "Reach Out" Cheap Trick (my favorite cheap trick song)
B-17 "Takin' a Ride" Don Felder (like you said)
So Beautiful & So Dangerous tracks "Queen Bee" Grand Funk Railroad, "I Must Be Dreamin'" Cheap Trick, "Crazy?" Nazareth, "All of you" Don Felder, "Heavy Metal" Sammy Hagar (this is playing while they're out at the big space station), "Prefabricated" Trust
Taarna tracks "The Mob Rules" Black Sabbath, "Through Being Cool" Devo (Which bummed me out it wasn't on the soundtrack), "Workin in a coal mine"
I remember seeing this in the theater too. I was 17 at the time. Power hitters and snuck in beer!
Just want to listen this and chill. Epic song.
joe schibetta in the original theatrical release it was ' taken a ride that played during the corvettes descent from the space shuttle me an my three brothers saw it when it first hit theater's
"You cannot caress my daughter's awesome bewbage!!"
sammy eagleson lol
Fuck!
Always denied the boobage
🤣
"You must duel in the Breastiary!"
Back when music was bad ass, a more civilized time...before the dark times...before Beiber and Myley.
They're more auto-tune than man now, twisted and evil

Don Felder - the most underrated Eagle. Great tune
Ridiculously underrated.
'Very few escape my grasp. Even in death, my powers continue...'
the B17 portion of the movie scared me to death when I was a kid!
+Raquel Bargas That was always my favorite scene. It was SO different than anything else in the movie and actually genuinely creepy for a cartoon.
I agree!!
That's what I'm gonna tell to my ex-boss, just before shooting her in the guts :)
I want that on ny grave!
I was always curious about the movie, but because of Major Boobage, I actually watched it.... soooooo great! Thank you Matt Stone and Trey Parker for introducing me to such a silly, classic, and rockin' movie!!!!!!!
got to love the early 80's music and concerts, life was great, we were young then....
This is an awesome trippy jam irregardless of what lead you here.
In my opinion one of the best hard rock songs of all time...
One of my favorite movies. Watched it when it first released, in a drive in theater close to Waukegan, IL.
I am here because I graduated "HIGH School" in 1981 and was a METAL HEAD big time! Still LOVE these old gems! The eighties was a hell of a good time to be young! Oh the concerts I have attended.......
I remember being blown away when I first hear this track sitting in a theater in 1981 in Carlsbad CA. 37 odd years later and it's STILL Blows me away!
Don Felder is an amazing musician.
I'd would've loved to hear a version of this tune, with Don Henley on lead vocal. The reason the Eagles didn't allow Felder to sing lead on "Victim of Love" (which Felder wrote) is that no one in the band had a very high opinion of Felder's singing voice. It took Felder going solo, with this great tune, for us to hear what he could do. Vocally, he does a respectable job.
Still rockin 40 years later!!
If this movie taught me anything, it's that if random green orbs appear, shit's about to get weird, or curiously arousing.
The perfect song to listen to while driving a 1981 trans am droptop down the highway in the sunset.
When your foot comes off the clutch when you down shifted to 3rd. The tach hits 3800 rpm the turbo comes off the clutch the tires start to spin, you feel a shudder. Then you are pinned the seat. The speedometer is at 120mph and is climbing.
I am cheesing so hard on that bass line
Didn't play nearly enough of this tune in the movie, but that opening scene with the B-17 and Heavy Metal playing, awesome, my favorite part of the movie.
Iv'e never smoked weed, or got high, but i like this sort of music, and pink flloyd etc, it relaxes me in a way that is often portrayed as the guy sitting back high as a kite
I needa get me some of that though
the way you experience music while high on any drug is hard to describe. you srsly need to get some of that
herpie derpie ;)
Weed has never killed one person in the history of its existence. Soon to be legal. When it's legal, smoke it.
I'm sorry to disappoint you but weed won't become legal
Tomislav Bagic and you know because why?
That rips! I came to the conclusion, some ways back, that I Am a heavy metal believer. When I sleep and dream, my dreams usually have soundtracks, and they're usually ripping heavy metal that I wish I could still remember once I wake up. 8)
Dude, keep dreaming, and
take a ride on HEAVY METAL,
and ride it FOREVER! 🎸😎🎸
This song pops in my head every now and then and I gots to play it HEAVY METAL.
ANOTHER GREAT HEAVY METAL MOVIE JAM THAT WILL ALWAYS REMIND ME OF THIS CLASSIC, GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This isn't just a great song to listen to while baked; it's the ultimate driving song, too.
Long live heavy metal. \m/
Love this song so much not just because of the lyrics but about the bass that it has.
I'm cheesing so hard right now
The awesomeness of this song and the movie Heavy Metal brought me here.
525 people missed their ride.
693 people should be sterilized.
714 people don't like long rides with tits and rock'n roll
Bob Schneider 812 people missed out on the major boobage.
Bob Schneider still riding
It's up to 844 shitheads with no class.
I am only a kid and I still love this song
im 15 and i also love it
I was 11 years old when this came out. I remember it getting a lot of airplay on Southern California rock radio. It's funny, because you never hear this on the radio anymore. Not even on classic rock stations.
Same age bro, it was a GREAT time period, right before the 80s got a little strange n New Wavey! I liked the late 70s the most though...We were kids at possibly the absolutely best time to be a kid in American history! I feel it was the peak of everything (in general),in this country.
This is a killer flick! I saw it when it first came out! lots of good music too!!!
time to get high on life like kenny..

Summer of 1981: This tune and Urgent by Foreigner were the soundtrack for me that year. Damn those were good times.
classic tune,by don felder of the eagles, and i love the film.everyone take a ride with to heavy metal.should be a fun experance.
What a song! wow! Heard it on the radio, but didn't know it was in a cartoon!
Thanks. Memories of fabulous 1981!
Very underrated hit by a very underrated rock artist Don Felder.
There are some great movies from that Time!!! Good music and a crazy story.I enjoyed them when i was a child and today.
Movie theaters should screen this classic every Saturday night!
My sons teacher one class told the students they can all pick one song each to listen to during study time. My son picked this song. His teacher just burst out laughing, and told him he has great taste. Now all his friends request it, its awesome to show the next generation that yes, we also had cool shit
Awesome song, great beat, instrumental and vocals. Great choice for The Heavy Metal movie
Watched the movie at the drivein in '81. Captivated and thrilled at the cartooning, with great rock !!!
Crank it up and let your neighbors hear it. I just turned 50 this year and this song makes me feel like I'm 15 again.
your here from south park
On this day in 1981 {August 7th} the movie 'Heavy Metal' opened in theaters across the U.S.A. and Canada...
Twelve days later "Heavy Metal (Takin' a Ride)" by Don Felder entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #85; and on October 11th, 1981 it peaked at #43 {for 1 week} and spent 17 weeks on the Top 100...
Devo's covered version of "Working in the Coal Mine" was featured in the movie and it also peaked at #43 on the Top 100 {Lee Dorsey took the original version to #6 on the Top 100 in 1966}…
Best devo song was through being cool
It certainly deserved to be much higher on the charts, at least in the Top 10. Very underrated hit and rock artist. It deserved much better ratings.
rockin tha bad ass jam i miss tha 70`s
I liked it then and still like it 2day

Classic animation and rock brought me back
I was a great fan of the magazine as a kid, if my family only knew what I was reading. Anyway the movie came out and I was blown away, sat through it twice. Still an epic ride for sure!!! Stan.
