Congratulations Over 30 years wait to hit 70 mph down a big hill without having good enough brakes to stop at the bottom & get laughed at by every big twin owner you've waited a lifetime to impress.
I first saw this movie back in 1991 and I couldn't WAIT to get a motorcycle! I bought a raggedy Honda 750 4k for $300 and rode the shit out of it...finally got my first Harley in 2003, an Ironhead sporty that I built from the ground up. Rode that for 10 years and then bought a Harley Dyna Wide Glide. Similar to Mickey's custom FXR, it's pumped out from front to rear. Funny to think my motorcycle journey started over 25 years ago with this kick-ass movie. Never let anyone hold you back...you can get whatever you want in life if you try hard enough. I know it's not much of a dream, but it's mine and I've had fun the whole way. Always leave time in your life to have fun and let it ride. Jobs and money come and go...but life experiences are worth way more than a paycheck. I'm getting old now, kidneys failing among other health problems...I'm 46 and I prolly won't see 50. If I died tomorrow, I can honestly say I've lived a good life. Not trying to be mushy and shit...but live your life while you can. Tomorrow ain't promised.
Your story sounds similar to mine except my ride started 1979 when I first heard that distant sound of thunder. My first was a beat up old Yamaha 750 , you had to kick the shit out of it to get it started most days. lol I still remember that damn thing. After I graduated in 1982 I joined the U.S. Air Force. I took the Yammer Hammer with me. It wasn't until 1984 that like you I found a 1969 Harley Davidson Sporty and commenced to make it all mine. 2.5 years and much cussing, yelling and learning I had my customized 69. If anyone recalls the factory 69 looked like a sawhorse with a v-twin and two wheels. lets face it it was ugly. When I finished it, got on her to fire her up, it started on the first kick. Now it was the Yamaha's time to die. I hated that damn rice burner with a passion. The death of a 750 is a beautiful thing if done right. I was a refuel specialist stationed at Grand Forks AFB North Dakota. I learned what JP-4 will do to any gasoline motor really fast. And myself and several members of my squadron introduced that 750 to JP-4. It was a match made in hell. lmao. I still have the 69, it was something i just couldn't part with after all the time and money I spent on it. It was a midnight blue in color, Springer front end. driver only seat with p-pad on fender, totally redone engine and tranny, alll chrome exhaust, front end, oil case etc. etc. I just couldn't part with it after I finished it. I spent back then apprx. $10k in customized parts, paint and chrome. I was 24 years old when I took it for its first ride. The last offer I had to sell it was just under 21k. I still said no and that was 5 years ago. I am now 54 years old and live where I can ride pretty much year round.
One day I just decided to ride. Paid the 250 bucks for classes and a week later bought a Harley 883. Got 150 miles on the bike so far and I'm loving it. Good story bro. Haven't seen the movie yet tho

What an exciting combination in that title! "Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man" alongside Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" really evokes a sense of adventure and freedom. The song itself is an anthem that captures the spirit of the open road and independence, perfectly fitting for a journey on a Harley. It's amazing how music can transport us to different places and times, isn't it? The blend of classic rock and iconic imagery is just thrilling! 🏍🎸🌟
