If you can find a submission in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or any other grappling sport that's more devastating than this one, I gotta see it. I've seen a ton of variations, but never seen anyone lock the body triangle and take the head like this. If you've got footage of this from another source, send it to me.
This is what we call the Executioner, and it's an absolute spine ripper. I originally learned it from my friend Scott "einstein" Epstein. He's also a 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under Eddie Bravo, and he has served as one of my mentors over the years. He calls this the Epstecutioner, but I call it the Executioner to bother him mostly. I've heard lots of names for some variations of this over the years: Dragon Sleeper being the chief among them.
Call it whatever you want, but remember you learned it from ole bmac :)

50% of the class died that day.
What
Hahaha.
"let's try it" = death
bjj.....the perfect balance of friendship, violence, laughter and despair
Catch Wrestling: So anyways I started cranking this guy’s ankle
You can’t spell slaughter without laughter 😂
The Epstecutioner. Brutal.
Laughing my ass off at the, "Let's try...ready?" at the end lol. Let's see who can break the other's neck first, go! 😂😂
That is a very old forbidden Kotokan Judo choke. I learned it in 1994. It's not news, but it's very good you are showing it to people. There are many variants of that particular "forbidden" spine lock. The choke is incident; nobody wants a broken neck. Great variation. Thank you.
Bro, shit isn't invented. It is re-discovered. If you think you are the first person to ever have done any move in history, you are deluded. People have been fighting since the dawn of time. So many moves are lost in history.
@@johnnycage2746? He didn’t say he was the first to learn it or it was invented . He actually said it was very old. Which is almost identical to what you said 😂😂
Before I had no friends, now I make enemies
Say goodbye to your back and hello to a wheelchair
The guy at the end that's a great question, but definitely didn't think the answer was worth finding out. He stopped that demonstration real quick.
Lol it’s a show stopper
Dragon Sleeper
Brutal submission
Remember when Cody Schrock put me in a variation of this? It was the only time I panicked from being in a sub. It was so painful and it came in quick.
I don’t remember anything from back then. People were hitting me in the head a lot 😂😂
@@brandonmcninja It was a looong time ago at Webster's. I honestly can't remember if you were teaching then. It was that long ago.
the dragon sleeper in catch wrestling
i think it maybe bit illegal for lower belts to do though... so oops.
Modified N/S choke with back control? 🥸 Sweet!
Anyone else here from Joe Rogan's podcast?
Not gonna lie. The thought of someone doing that to me at 100% in an adrenaline rush makes me freak the fuck out. Im sweating just thinking about it.
It’s gnarly dude. Luckily, like every move, it can be done with a gentle touch. But honestly, you need to be pretty advanced to be able to do it in a controlled way. If you feel like there’s a lot of resistance, you gotta be super careful with your partner.
@@brandonmcninja Yea completely agree. In a situation like this i might maybe perhaps be ok with it being showcased on me, but in a real fight, no freaking way.
not gonna make any friends with that one. :)
perhaps 😆
I swear I heard his neck pop
😂 definitely not. I was being nice 💕
I think that was the cameraman
That's hard to even watch....
Nasty!
That's just nasty
Bro this got me in trouble. I did this nicely to a blue belt and he cried to my instructor. He said you can't do that here, its a deadly crank. I didn't even lock it and he panic tapped.
Ha ha sounds like it works too good 😂
Beautiful.
Solid technique can be hard to get set up. Would love to see some options for escape.
I seen a guy do this at a tournament and stood up with it and tried to pick the guy up. It looked terrifying and extremely dangerous. He acted very proud of him self and everyone else looked at him like he was an idiot.
Luckily the guy tapped before he got his neck broken.
Was it a legal move at the tournament? If so I see no issue at all.
The guy tapped. That’s what your supposed to. If you don’t tap, bad things can happen.
And your job is to make the guy tap.
@@brandonmcninja I'm assuming it was because the ref didn't stop it. I'd just never seen anyone really go for that before. Not a big fan of neck cranks for obvious saftey reasons but am guilty of choking a face or two when they tuck their chin haha. Not something I'd go for but if it's legal, definitely something to look out for👍
Also really enjoying season 2 of PGF. Fun to watch my weight class battle it out why my wife has to hear what I would do each round😂
@@StillRolling There is a visiting black belt that comes to my gym. He was slapping this on pro fighters repeatedly while they fully resisted while a bunch of black belts cackled. It was a thing of beauty to watch.
Beautiful wow
Just learned this choke today. Woah... 😲😲😲
ROFLMAO That is brutal! I pulled this off like several days ago without even knowing it! So funny! It really is nasty - had the guys back, and was trying to fish for control of the neck. Then the neck popped right into my guillotine hold and got the tap. lol
Too many students with their phones wtf
Just watching this video makes me feel like I need to go see my chiropractor!
❤️
I think I remember seeing the Undertaker do this in wrestling lol
Yeah it's called the Dragon Sleeper/Owari Death Clutch.
@@rottennnnbbbb yep. Ultimo Dragon used it as his finisher in WCW
@@Macktube Drew Gulak actually uses it now as his Finisher, calls it the Gu-Lock
😲😲😲😲🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lets try it lmao
(0:27) sounds like a vertebrate readjustment
I love the art of grappling and love watching athletes perform at their highest levels. The issue I have with these "rare" submissions is - when videos like these are uploaded and you have these wannabe wrestlers/grapplers trying this tuff in fights or on each other. You just know there are a ton of dumb asses who pretend to know BJJ who practice this stuff on people. Even a very common guillotine choke can be very dangerous if done wrong.
It's a Dragon Sleeper.......
You’re a dragon sleeper
Is there a way to defend it because once the hooks are i just don't see a way out of it
Break the leg hooks, roll back😎.
Careful not to get yourself decapitated tho😂
Make sure u squeeze their head with ur hand too so they cant crank too hard
hey is this legal in 10th planet tourneys?
Yes
Omg
😳😳😳😳😳
Lets try hahaha
is this legal in IBJJF?
Definitely NOT
So Hi there Brandon, the internet is good and bad. its great there is so much knowledge available but as black belts we have a responsibility for the techniques we teach. This isnt a heel hook or wrist lock its attacking the vertebrae in the neck and the spine. And truthfully most of us BJJ guys do not have the medical training to actually know the medical outcomes of the techniques we are using, all we know and care about is getting the tap/win. But 2 white belts or anyone for that matter could be cranking the H out of each other with this technique and could seriously injure or maim each other even where one would never walk again or have a family and that is not ok. I ask you to please reconsider that while most people have the common sense to be responsible some do not and certain techniques do not belong in sport jiu jitsu or on the internet for these reasons. Lastly most people in this technique dont realize the danger theyre in. As a white belt i tried escaping ankle locks and heel hooks and noone told me i would need knee surgery but i found out. so lets tell people atleast if you dont tap here the results could be permanent.
fully agree
Isn’t that Epstein’s evil creation? I’ve heard of it, never seen it before. Awesome tech!
for real?
It is a VERY OLD move that goes back to both CATCH AND PRO WRESTLING. And of course pro wrestling evolved from catch wrestling. In both style of wrestling it is called the dragon sleeper. And in both style of wrestling you CAN do it with a body scissor(ie the guard). Although you could also do it standing up.
It’s called the Epsteincutioner or something.
This is almost a show hold that would not work against a knowledgeable submission grappler. For instance, this would not work if someone tries to apply this to you as you are a very talented grappler.
I appreciate the feedback. I have had a lot of success with this though. If you can get to a north south choke, you can get to this
One of my female students, who is a student of my student, also tried this, probably having learned it from you. I told her not to do it as it is a pro wrestling move. My student also claimed he was the first one to apply it in his gym, and only after that did his female student use it on a less experienced student-a six-month male student who practices for 2 hours once a week. My student first applied that submission against this female student who is at the intermediate level but she is a small girl. There is an argument going on in our class WhatsApp group about whether this is a legitimate submission or not. Then, by accident, my closest student and training partner found this and sent it to me. So far, this spine lock has been used in our group, but it has only happened two times, and the skill level gap was between intermediate and amateur levels. I said this is not a move that is in the book, and it is not practical compared to other back attacks. But it seems like they do not believe it. Then I said, okay, it is legit, but it is like trying a full-nelson from the back control, where you need much more effort with a higher risk of failure.
Pulled this off in training today. Yes I'm a dick but didn't body triangle and gently squeezed. He knew to tap, I would have let go if he didn't get the message. Is this legal at white belt? Is it a crank or a choke?
It’s 100% neck crank and spine crank. Works great. But be careful with your friends.
@@brandonmcninja thanks. I'll use this in future but just to take the back!!! I end up in North South a lot and love the ns choke. I'm wondering if you can ezekiel from the position?
You can
It depends on the competition. In 10th planet and CATCH WRESTLING(the father of BOTH pro and freestyle wrestling) this move is COMPLETELY LEGAL. This is especially true at Snake Pit Wigan(BRITISH STYLE catch wrestling). At Snake Pit Wigan DIRECT chokes are FORBIDDEN while INDIRECT CHOKES ARE LEGAL. And I think the front facelock(guillotine) and the dragon sleeper are legal.
Jesus Christ😱
I kind of understand how I've never seen this before... no one wants encourage this. I'd rather just see if i can get to the position in sparring, I'd feel like an asshole if I ever tapped someone with it.
If you have control and finesse, it’s no different than anything else.
People try to attack my knees and shoulders every day. Same thing.
Just gotta learn how to move correctly.
@@brandonmcninja I get that it's a legit technique with a lot of counter-play, but I'm fairly new to BJJ and there's many things I could learn before risking inflicting spinal damage upon someone.
That’s true. But you’re gonna learn to blow a shoulder apart on your first class probably. Not a very responsible thing to show a beginner who has no control, if you think about it on those terms.
