He just didn’t have the confidence after he lost by bjj and thats all he knew, during this 10 fight win streak he regained and is overflowing of confidence
Seriously, I’ve never seen anyone complete a calf slicer in a competition. It just doesn’t happen...unless you’re Oliveira. Also, it is one of the most excruciating things I’ve ever felt in my life. I’m surprised it took him as long as it did to tap tbh.
Maybe Donald Cerrone? But even then Cowboy was inconsistent when it came to big fights. Charles has shown the big fights are no problem for him anymore.
I really felt Charles was the one to give Khabib his toughest challenge. Now we get to see him fight Islam. A Khabib callout after finishing Islam would be iconic.
Oliveira is just the perfect champion to follow in Khabibs Footsteps. Two very different type of ufc runs, but also the kind of champion you want to look up to.
He reminds me of the origins of UFC when Royce Gracie would submit everybody but back then BJJ was unknown, now everybody knows and train BJJ and yet he finishes everybody like they’re amateurs.
I'd say Alexander Volkanovski is the most technical fighter in the UFC, especially after that masterclass he put on Max Holloway in their third fight. Nobody does that to Max Holloway, not even Dustin Poirier at 155 could do it. For now Volk deserves to be the #1 P4P fighter in the UFC. Assuming Oliveira gets the belt back at UFC 280, make Volk vs Oliveira to determine the true #1 P4P fighter in the UFC.
@@betterthanyou8618 Islam is very good but he's not very accomplished in terms of achievements, Charles beating Islam wouldn't be the same as him beating Khabib or even Dustin. If Charles however can beat both Islam and Volk moving up to 155, then he's the #1 P4P fighter in the UFC.
He undoubtedly will when he eventually retires. He has some insane records that may not be broken for a long time if ever. He currently has most finishes in UFC history at 19, second place is tied at 16 between Jim Miller and Donald Cerrone. They may be able to reach that spot if they don't retire before then, but I doubt that. Plus, Charles will still be fighting. Then he has the record for most submission wins at 16, then closest after that is 11 sub wins tied 3 wins between Jim Miller, Royce Gracie, and Damien Maia. Not only are his transitions a work of art, but his control of his opponent is top tier. Controlling their legs/feet/hands/arms while also working on a submission is what really separates him out. And he does it lightning quick.
Does great damage when he connects too. The very first punch he landed on Gaethje stunned him, and the way he dropped him later was super impressive as nobody has done that to Gaethje in the UFC. I do think if Oliveira fought at 170, he would be a KO threat in the division as well as a submission threat. IMO he beats Colby.

Islam vs Oliveira is the Khabib vs Tony we never got.
MMA Fans want this but not UFC fans (specifically those PPV salties).
This sport isnt as NOBLE as we think it is. People is gonna prioritize Business and has big draw. That would be a weak one in terms of money but good for Noble cause of MMA. People tend to hate on these type of thing because not that big money is involved.
In Brazil and Russia, UFC is literally broadcasted Live on TV, Unlike in NA that you have to pay for it.
Well it seems like standing up with Oliveira is a bad idea and getting him down is worse. Can't see where Islam wins it. The moment he starts ground and pound Oliveira is gonna catch an armbar.
@@StallionFernando more like the oliveira vs khabib we never got... Oliveira is unique and i love tony but prime tony is not on oliveiras level
I remember seeing this dude's first couple of fights in the UFC and back then you could tell there was something special about him. He had some tough losses which he overcame and then turned into this absolutely lethal killer. When he locks up a submission it's lightning quick. You're dead. And you know he can hit hard when Gaethje says so! Total badass.
I know i remember those days when he beat efrain eacudeiro and we all thought he was the next champ then took a few Ls and people forgot about him cause he looked like he has no chin and cant stand pressure .i dont know what he did bit damn did he finally dialed it in and his fights are always so emotional and primal its like a fight to the death always like the old mike tyson fights in his prime

Wht do you think team khabib..
So Islam is just on few level above him?
@@H982FKL-TG Islam is great, but he is far from having the records and resume that Charles has

Thank you, UFC!
He has The most finishes in UFC history.
This alone makes him THE G.O.A.T. in my book.
And he has AN INSANELY WIDE variety of techniques, like : 1:14...or 1:56...
Like Chito said last week when his mind was catching up to his body, Olives had the talent but now has a championship mentality to go along with it. Gonna hit the road Saturday morning to Phoenix to witness this live!
I’m so envy right now 🤣 I’m from Brazil and wanted the UFC 274 were here
Chito is one of the best predictors of who will win a fight.
Simply the G.O.A.T of submission
Charles Oliveira is that type of guy who becomes violent but have you noticed how quickly he released the choke? He clearly respects the tap by his rivals😀
0:59 that TD using the momentum of the cage bounce was some next level energy transfer shit

This guy the way he masters the submission is beyond compare, way beyond all fighters, a real legendary
Huge Charles fan he’s back when I first started watching ufc with Anderson on top at the time. Charles deserve to be on top. He’s literally climbed the ranks. You can see how much growth he’s done and continues to develop. I hope he continues his legacy and beats Justin although it’s Justin’s rightfully time too. They both worked hard to be where they are. I think Justin comes out hot as usually but Charles finds a way to a sub by the third. Regardless I hope it’s a good fight.
This guy is a BJJ legend...🔥
Man needed an 11 minute video! That’s the record holder for most submissions and most finishes in ufc history
This guy is a human Anaconda. He can perform a submission without taking his opponent to the ground with his deadly tight Headlocks. Very impressive by far the best BJJ fighter and the fighter with the most deadly submissions
I love human anaconda😂💪
5:57 I can’t shake the feeling that this is how the Gaethje fight will end. I think Gaethje is overlooking Charles striking and I think Oliveira catches him with something clean and in a split second Charles will lock in a sub. The way he can transition from the standup to a sub is incredible and Gaethje doesn’t have the BJJ to get out of this situation if he gets caught in it.
He is stripped of the ufc championship so even if he wins no use😂🤷🏻♂️
@@SaifKhan-qf6pn Thanks for bringing up something that happened hours after I made this comment. It will be hilarious if Gaethje still loses 😂😂
@@SaifKhan-qf6pn Dang well we know Gaethje isn’t leaving with the belt either. Charles dropped Gaethje clean and then locked in the sub just as I predicted. I knew Gaethje didn’t foresee Oliveira’s power based on how he was talking all week.

Watching this video shows his progression. Everyone knows the bjj excellence, but he has rocked people on his feet. The fights in 2018-19 gave insight of where he would go. His striking it's underrated, and diverse which makes it harder to prepare especially when he takes their best shot and gets back up. From his back he throws elbows. He rocked Chandler.

3-4 seconds

Charles Oliveira is an excellent showcase as to how dangerous BJJ can be when its fully adjusted to an MMA skillset.

He doesnt just wrap them up... He knocks them out too. Legendary
He should be number 1 on ufc's pound for pound. No one is as technical as Oliveira
I'd say if he is able to beat Islam than he should be number 1
They are the 2 most exciting fighters for sure. Volk vs Oliveira would be a crazy fight.
Charles deserves to enter the hall of fame
He undoubtedly will when he eventually retires. He has some insane records that may not be broken for a long time if ever. He currently has most finishes in UFC history at 19, second place is tied at 16 between Jim Miller and Donald Cerrone. They may be able to reach that spot if they don't retire before then, but I doubt that. Plus, Charles will still be fighting. Then he has the record for most submission wins at 16, then closest after that is 11 sub wins tied 3 wins between Jim Miller, Royce Gracie, and Damien Maia. No one is beating Charles' submission record for a very long time. I could see it never being broken tbh
Lol 😂
With 8 loses? No.
Now 9 losses
@@H982FKL-TG Yes, he has losses. He also holds the records for most wins, most submissions, most finishes, and most performance bonuses in UFC history. Convenient you ignored all of that.
