This was my favorite pinball machine. When I was looking to buy one, I looked everywhere for it, could not find it. I fell in love with it when I moved to TN, was in a hotel for 2 weeks and played this daily at the truck stop next door to hotel. Have never seen another one since then.

I bought one of these machines many years ago, and got it out of storage earlier this year where it had been mothballed for a couple of years. It greeted me by exploding a tantalum capacitor on the sound board and shooting shards of resin across the garage! Between that and a dying display (luckily nothing more serious than a dead transistor), I had a few days of fun getting it running again. Luckily, the rotating head mechanism was still working perfectly - I really don’t fancy trying to fix that!

The original PinBot blew my mind as a kid. After dumping many quaters into it I was able to lock the two balls for its eyes, and they lit up and the machine said 'BEHOLD! I CAN SEE!'.... Still gives me goosebumps :)

this brought back memories. we used to own a LotR pinball machine when i was a kid. sadly around 2008, recession hit and we had to sell it. We ended up making money on it, since we had bought a floor/demo unit from Sharper Image. and it went up in value.
we ended up selling it to a pinball fanatic that would fix all these things that we didn't know where bad with the machine.
i would've loved to have it now and fix it myself now that i'm way more knowledgeable with electronics.

Big big DMD 90s to early 2000s tables fan as my wife worked at a “golf&stuff” in SoCal that used to house a pseudo castle full of all the classic tables from Williams Stern you name it it was probably their at one time. I like this one of the 80s, better than funhouse, which is my other favorite table outside Elvira’s older table based on the same setup.
We worked near each other and on lunch or when I was off I’d go play on the pinball tables for free a lot.

The more I play pinball, the more I learn how much maintenance they require. It seems like the switches in the eyes would fall off more frequently like the right one did, since they are off to the side and the ball would be pushing them off to the side. I wonder if you can replace the guides on the first face since they are so yellowed and stand out. Thanks for an awesome video.

@@DavidSherman1980 Dang, sorry for getting your hopes up. Maybe it's the ROM version then? I read that quite some stuff is still missing in revision P-4, like the heartbeat animation, but all ROM versions seem to have some flaws, if you read up on it e.g. on Pinside... Joe's Machine is running revision L-8 (24:08) and his bride is missing the "Heartbeat/Hi There/My God, she's alive!" - part, too (30:45). If it's a different issue, I'm sure Joe will find out (y)

@@Plutoniumdrache Yeah, mine is running L-7 and I wondered if that might be it. Mine was a reimport from Italy, not sure if they would have had any different international rom sets? Seems unlikely since they added the Family Mode settings, but no ideas after trying changing and testing the menu options.

*SEGA SUPER GT* was literally my favorite game at "Alladin's Castle" way back in the '90s. i would put in 50c and win the races allowing you to keep playing, getting like 30 min of play out of 50c
until some mo ron employee decided it should be 50c a race whether you win or lose. well they lost (a ton of money) because i never went back after that.

My head on my BOP cycles and works fine the first time around. However, if I lose a ball during multiball the face will reset to default like it should. Next time I hit a ball in her mouth it will say partial optical link and she will say I can speak, but it locks that ball and shoots another ball out into the shooter lane as if I'm on her eye's when in fact I'm still on the mouth mode.

Might be a bad diode on the switches for her eyes, or it may be that switch we looked at on here isn't properly adjusted. I'd go into switch test and make sure they all work every time you hit them, it may be registering that you're hitting the mouth and the eyes at the same time. Not sure why it would do it after the first play but if it does it consistently it may be a rom issue but not likely.
