  • I go over the switch matrix and try to solve my multiple switches not working. Is it wiring, diodes, connectors, CPU or something else? In this video I troubleshoot the issue.

I've been playing this on my Ipad. It is amazing how well it simulates everything from the original game. The only thing that you really can't do is flip the ball over to the other flipper.

I used to play the virtual pins all the time before I collected the real thing. The emulation is great!

One thing on the non fliptronic WPC games... switches actually come from THREE different locations in these games:
Flipper Left/Right from optocouplers on the power driver PCB via the ribbon cable
Slam Tilt + Always Closed from the coin door PCB via the coin door harness (direct switches)
and all the switches in the switch matrix via the playfield harness
With no caps on your switch plugs, I'd call those .100 IDC connectors highly suspect at 30 years old, and you should plan on replacing them.

Thanks man that is amazing info! I agree that I should plan on replacing those old connectors. Thanks again for the great info!

I'm having a similar issue but mine is on a Popeye saves the earth and instead of a switch matrix out, I have a lamp matrix column that is out! (It might just be the bulbs themselves that are out and nothing electrically wrong, I havent tested the bulbs yet and I plan to convert to LED someday) I noticed on your power driver board LED 2 was on but LED 3 was NOT ON until you switched the J208 > J209 and J206 > J207. According to my Popeye manual LED 3 on the power driver board is normally off (Page 58/142 or 1-36), but it also says J137 is not used when it clearly is LOL Gotta love when the manual contradicts itself. When my Popeye is fully booted all the LEDs on the power board are lit, idk if its supposed to be like that but its how I picked it up. Anyway! Just wanted to point that out incase it's something to take note of! Thanks for another amazing video!

Ah right on. Thanks for the info! Since FH works perfectly I have to assume that the leds on the board are behaving as they should. If you have a whole column of bulbs out I would start with the bulbs, then connector, then maybe suspect the transistor! Thanks again and good luck!
