  • Strelitzia Reginae, a.k.a the Bird of Paradise plant, is a tropical flowering plant that simply screams out for attention no matter the environment it is in. Its unique and eye-catching appearance is an absolute must-have in any garden or sunny interior room.
This video tells you all you need to know about caring for this stunning plant!
    Some Quick Facts:
✅ Bird of Paradise is a herbaceous evergreen perennial that can grow up to 5-6 feet (1,5-1,8 m) tall.
✅ The flower features a clump of broad oval, long-stalked gray-green leaves that grow from an underground stem. Its leaves resemble the leaves of banana plants. In fact, Strelitzia is a distant cousin to the banana plant, which is the largest herbaceous flowering plant.
✅ It can take up to three to five years before the flower first blooms. Afterward, in late winter to early spring, Bird of Paradise produces orange or yellow and vivid blue flowers that resemble the crest on a bird’s head.

What a mess-up. The Reginae is a slow grower whilst the Nicolai Is the opposite. Foliage on Nicolai is way larger and it grows very high, while the Reginae maxes out at about 7 feet.

None of the videos I've seen today show how and where to trim off the dead flowers. I've learned how to prune, water & propagate. But I still don't know what to do with the dead flowers.

Can anyone tell me, what would be the best fertilizer for outdoor bird of paradise plants?

Might be too dry in Az. They are tropical and like a certain level of humidity.

Great comprehensive video. I have one of these in a pot that has 3 clumps, or clusters. I bought it at a nursery about 2 years ago and it looked quite healthy and robust. I think I'm giving it the best of everything: about 4 hours of morning sun, pleny of water and occasion fertizer, and it's in a large pot with pleny of room for the roots....I think. 🪴

There is too much talk about sun exposure & temperature & water
I would prefer talk about contolling the plants growth in an area...how to prune & cut for flower arrangements.
When cutting the flower, also cut the leaf.

Wow what an incredibly redundant video that somehow gives almost zero information that pertains to this specific plant and actually gives more inaccurate information wow. Im almost impressed.

disliked for usage of fahrenheit with no celsius provided. like, it would take you a fraction of a second to translate the nonsensical temperature gauge to one entire world understands, but it takes way more for 10k people who viewed this video, to that for themselves. it's 7-15°

You did not show the rizone and root to transplant successfully.
Very hard and awkward plant to separate from the ground.
