When you're a service member, Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine and you are transferred to another base outside of the USA vehicle transport is free. I just learned that recently. I think it isn't a well known perk.
Hope Tyler comes back on the channel, he's got a great on-camera personalty and definitely knows his stuff! Took that fuse box out and fixed that recall like a pro (cause obviously he is)
We can order one relay kit a week. There not back ordered..just Chrysler has decided to only allow one sale a week . Better hope Chrysler's not watching this and found a recall performed out of a Chrysler shop that recall is null and void even if a Chrysler tech does it it's got to be submitted through Chrysler. If it was this easy all these independent shops will be doing them instead of calling the dealer to have it done.
I've got a hard copy of Stephen Kings "It" which I bought here in Australia in the 90's, after I read it, my sister-in-law read it, ask if her father could read it, he took it back to the US via France and the UK. It was then lent to a friend of his that took it to Canada and then back to the US. I was told it then was lent to another family friend who took it with them to Japan and then again back to the US where my sister-in-law got it back and bought it back to Australia and to me. It's now packed away in a box in a shipping crate on the property... i think. It's travelled more places then I have. Not that it really has anything to do with this but... it's amazing how some things just get around. Cheers for the great content as always mate.
Okay I have a 2016 dodge Durango with 120 thousand miles on it and the car would just stop didn’t know why and it would start running like nothing ever happened it’s very scary and frustrating then I took it to two dealerships and they did 3 recalls on it so I thought it was fixed but it was not and the dealership didn’t even know what was wrong with it. So I did some research and found out that this happened a lot in mostly all Dodge Chrysler, cars and trucks and vans dealership told me it was fuel pump and tips and it was gonna cost me 2000 to fix it and what I found out was I needed to get 😢a jumper cable from the fuel pump motor fuse to cigarette. Lighter fuse and that’s it. The car would start with no problems. It’s a $30-$60 part. Very simple. I hope this helps any questions message me.
My buddy just brought an early 2000s 4Runner back from Germany that was brought there when new by someone else in the service. He is the 3rd owner, but since the car was sold overseas, he is legally the 2nd titled owner. Also they are required to go through yearly inspections to be able to be driven overseas as part of the agreement between the military and Germany. He had to replace brake pads almost yearly to pass inspection. The are pretty serious about guaranteeing that the cars are up to standards.
We could use some of that here. Every other car I pass now has lights out and parts falling off, along with bald tires and brakes and ceased to function months ago...
Yep, they did a external relay graft in that made it customer serviceable. The TIPM idea wasn't as good as they thought it would be and they quit doing it. I have a similar ratcheting crimping tool I bought at the big swap meet here years ago, I love it, really does the job and the wires wont pull apart.
Chrysler and non starts! In 1976 the military started buying the M-880 series of light trucks from Chrysler. Their non start issue revolved around the ignition balance resistor. It came from the factory mounted on the fire wall-well with the hood design, if opened the hood after or during a hard rain the small lake that forms on the hood would run down said firewall and short out the resistor. Look ma no start! Field fix was silicone calk. Updated version they moved the resistor.
If you dont have the recall and dont want to pay to replace the TIPM there is a really simple fuel pump relay bypass you can do by effectively bridging 2 adjacent fuses so that the fuel pump is just wired into the switched 12v circuit. Theres even a ready to go bypass kit you can buy for fairly little, or its easy done with piggyback fuses.
Glad I watched this for my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee recall. Mine will get done and it's only a half day wait for recall. And yes, usually only 2 relays per dealer on hand.
I had a guy at a Phillips 76 Oil Change place tell me that if I didn't have my oil filter changed by them that they would void out any type of warranty on gas mileage improvements done by them changing my oil. I had moved into an apartment complex and we weren't allowed to do any type of maintenance on your vehicle, even vacuuming it out. But the Phillips place was right next door and they gave every new resident coupons for a $16 oil change. The amount of upselling was intense. They made it sound like my 2 year old minivan was going to fall apart at any second. Everything was bad on it! Honda made garbage!
@@chrisej5987 They were like that too. They claimed you vacuuming your car was too loud and dumping your floorrmats on the ground dirtied the parking lot or left other trash there. I had to fix the rear view mirror in my wife's car and I had just stuck the adhesive on and had it pressed against the glass. Guy comes along and tells me I need to either stop or close the car door. It's July in Florida. Literally a death sentence. So I made him come around the other side and turn the car on to give me AC. I wasn't stopping. 2 days later I got a letter in my mailbox with a friendly reminder about car maintenance items. Meanwhile the manager had a PT Cruiser that smoked so bad it made you sick, the muffler would scrape across the speed bumps, and the rear bumper was black a can be from exhaust and leaking oil. But me with my car door open was an embarrassing sight
The color markings are for the guarantee of a repair. Each tightened screw is marked. If one of the markings between the screw and the substrate does not match and is broken, then someone else has screwed it after you. Something on the brakes was probably changed on the car. I also had a customer once: a new part was installed, the complaint came a short time later, the markings did not match, an attempt was made to exchange a defective part from another car.
Not quite sure it'll work for the headlights, but I used signal dynamics load equalizers for the turn signals in my G8, and they've been working for years. One unit does both sides, so extra wiring will be needed to reach across if the headlight feeds aren't near each other.
I had my 98 GMC Sierra 4x4 in Germany. I drove it to Vicenza, Italy and back and had zero problems. I wish I still had that truck. I had so many problems with it when I first bought it used. After working out all the issues it was a great truck. We bought a used Mercedes for my wife while we were there. Couldn't beat it for $3k. We had one emergency brake issue but that's a long story. Sold the Mercedes when we departed and got our money back.
that same dealer serviced my ford escape and grafenwoehr is in west Germany not east as there is no east Germany anymore spent about 8 months out of my 11 years in the army there. when a car is shipped with the military it is picked up in Bremerhaven Germany and then travels to the base about 400 miles.
I had my 13 awd crew have this issue about a month ago… was able to get my recall done the next morning… I racked my brain for hours till I found the forum the dealership hooked me up and if you talk to them nicely they always have one in the back lol
Lived in Suffolk, UK until August this year when we moved the Canada. We lived next to USAF Mildenhall and Lakenheath. We saw more US vehicles on a day to day basis than UK ones in our neighbourhood. They tend to have rear fog lights added to pass the UK inspection. USAF pays for the shipping.
My 2011 Chrysler Town and Country is affected by the same failed relay on the TIPM, but the recall doesn't extend to the minivan, unfortunately. I had to watch a couple of RUclips videos on how to bypass the relay in order to get the fuel pump working again...
7/10ths of an hour is 42 minutes for those wondering, Tyler knocked this out in what, 10, 15 minutes? Great job! If this thing is going to take another 30 days to clear the recall database it gives you time to get those hood and trunk struts done and fix whatever's wrong with the driveshaft, more content for you before it begins it's Turo life.
Really agrivating, I have a 2015 and it is starting to hear ticking from the faulty lifters. They did an extended warranty on 11-13s but nothing for cars newer even though it's the same exact parts that fail.
Hey John, just a word to the wise. If you get a chance to buy a Chevrolet Bolt, hold off on that for a while, they all have a critical recall too. Something about the battery bursting into flames randomly.

I recently bought hood struts at O’Reilly’s for my 2006 Accord I bought new. O’Reilly’s told me they have a lifetime warranty and are the same manufacturer as the OEM. Why wouldn’t the original ones have a lifetime warranty? They lasted 15 years so I’m not complaining.
Sorry Josh but Grafenwoehr is not in East Germany. It is in what was West Germany. Spent many an hour there when I was in the Army and stationed in Germany.

My son-in-law went to work for the US govt in Germany a few years back and he brought his Diamond Edition GMC Jimmy with him. He had to get it inspected by the German Govt to insure it met their safety and factory configuration requirements. Unfortunately, the Diamond Edition was a very rare model, and the Germans did not have the factory specs on it. Consequently, they used the standard GMC Jimmy specs. He failed the inspection because the running boards, wheel rims, and I believe fog lights were different on the Diamond edition. Those paint marks are probably from the German inspector. As a side note, back when I was stationed in Germany many years ago, if you wanted to ship any vehicle that was not made in the USA, the individual military person had to pay for the shipment back to the states rather than the Govt footing the bill. That was a lot of money for most enlisted and junior grade officers back then.
So who lost their spot in line for that relay JR?! Was it me?!! Lol. My JGC has that drive line vibration too. Definitely video content worthy on that fix please.
Germans love American cars. My buddy in the Army took a S-10 Blazer over in the late 90’s and a local guy offered him $20K for it. Europeans in general wish they could be American they just won’t come out and say it.
I’ve got a 2015 Durango, these things are FANTASTIC. You will need to over time: replace the lifters as they begin to tick, the oil cooler will crack , and that’s about it. Edit ohhhh you got the V8, I have the v6. I’ll go back and color! Good video man!
I may have missed it, but how is this repair going to be reported to NHTSA as completed? Typically, this is handled by the OEM after the dealer submits the claim for payment. Is Josh getting this processed through his dealer?
Anyone can do the recall. Recall, voluntary manufacturer conditions, technical service bulletins, letters to customers as policy. Just buy the parts and install yourself.
Why would a dealership sell a vehicle with a open recall when they could easily repair it before sale? I recently bought a 2020 Buick Regal Tour X and that model is known for noisy lower control arms in the suspension. It is not a recall just a customer complaint and the dealership replace them before I even picked up the car.
If I could perform the fuel pump relay recall on the Durango I would drink the shot of whiskey and the cold Bartle Skeets and roll up the Number and get all schmoked up
I can't believe this Durango has traveled all over the world! We found multiple service records from it's years overseas. 😳

Don't forget, that Durango has not only been to Germany and back, it just recently made a round trip to Mexico.

We had similar crimpers at NASA. In fact I think they were levered so you didnt have to brute force a crimp.
That's why the 17 and up doesn't have that problem you got a regular relay for the fuel pump after that
Where is that guy that said JR was gonna wait two years for the fix😂
I don't think JR could buy a new car with good hood struts lol!
Tell Josh that Graff was in West Germany before Germany was reunified, not East Germany, I went there for live fire in the 80's
My 02 lancer has white paint pen marks on everything too
Will that relay also cause a no crank no start? I'm not getting signal at all to the starter.
I might be wrong, but I think Tyler works for a Dodge/Chrysler dealer, so he would submit the recall paperwork through them.
Recall doesn't count, he wasn't wearing a Chrysler Technician shirt.
You got it... Has to be done at a Chrysler dealer
Anyone can do the recall. Recall, voluntary manufacturer conditions, technical service bulletins, letters to customers as policy. Just buy the parts and install yourself.
the fact that they didn't just put a easily replaceable relay like every car for the past many many decades.
to be 100% but it on axle stands see if the sound gos .i had same sound and it was my rear tyers .
Spät means late. Spätestens bis = latest by/at least by (and there should be a date in the box below)
Man i found the recall relay kit burned underneath the 20 amps fuse ! You mean Another recall ?
Why would a dealership sell a vehicle with a open recall when they could easily repair it before sale?
I recently bought a 2020 Buick Regal Tour X and that model is known for noisy lower control arms in the suspension.
It is not a recall just a customer complaint and the dealership replace them before I even picked up the car.
When the part that is installed as a recall replacement fails, that's Chrysler
If I could perform the fuel pump relay recall on the Durango I would drink the shot of whiskey and the cold Bartle Skeets and roll up the Number and get all schmoked up
Good information on this issue.👍
How much money would it cost to fill a tank of fuel in Germany and to run a hemi engine to boot pricey
The rams have the same problem. I used that kit on my ram
TPM modules are used for a lot of things not just vehicle's. The overall chip shortages is making things worse. 😁
It's TIPM not TPM
