You should have way more subscribers! You seem to be one of the most genuine people and you legitimately do very satisfying demonstrations of a very broad range of products.Absolutely amazing!Keep it up, youre awesome!
Sold. Can't wait to see the other demos of this range!
A thorough and well produced demo!
Great review. I love that you used different amps.
was waiting for this 1. thank you. Just need it to show up here in us and it's mine
Good job TC! This one is pretty nice and rusty, especially with the tone maxed out.
Man.. .you have the best channel for reviews. I always finish my research here hehehe. You have the BEST "library" of amps in the world. Congrats. You rock!
What a spectacular ending to a truly wholesome video.
Kathleen Rivera thank you Kathleen!
Best review of anything ever
So far this is the only pedal I like from the ones you reviewed. That's one of the advantages of fuzz, it can sound dirty and cheap, but still be great.
On my list of must haves.
Waiting for the chorus pedal review! Great reviews
i like the enclosure and big knobs of this series of pedals.
Nice review!
You were talking about the change in knob positions from pedal to pedal. Who really knows but I recently saw a post from Brian Wampler where he talked a bit about how he's found that he can use the same exact components and design in a pedal and can change the sound just by putting those components in different positions on the circuit board. That could be the reason for the change in knob position. If it is, I think it speaks well of TC Electronics' attention to detail. Then again, maybe they just couldn't make it fit for some reason.
This fuzz now takes my award for best inexpensive fuzz. TC has a good reputation in my book and it continues.
I picked one of these up as a punt and I'm really happy with it, sounds great particularly if I hit it with my EHX Soul Food on a lowish gain setting (seems to give it a lot more clarity) Definitely going to be a mainstay on my board.
I just got the Rusty Fuzz. It's great but I found it gets lost in a band mix. Your tip on the Soul Food gives me an idea regarding increasing clarity.
Have you encountered any problems with putting the rusty fuzz after the soul food?

That guitar though wow!!
Well no doubt this is a Fuzz Box and does exactly what it supposed to do. Way more impressive than the fist 2 pedals that were demonstrated and reviewed here. I will also say that for your 50 bucks this thing actually wipes the floor with the Walrus Audio Jupiter Fuzz which cost 200 bucks. OK the Walrus looks better for the bucks, but what on earth they put inside It I will never know and if you want a pedal that is a Fuzz Box save yourself 150 bucks and get this. You will not regret it.
I agree it allows you to play chords. This is not a bad fuzz. This is the best demo I have heard of it and it still sounds like ""so so". You have to try to it through a decent clean amp like a DR to realize how cool this fuzz sounds. Even though he bad mouths the Joyo Voodoo Octave fuzz. That fuzz is awesome for single note stuff. His demo of it is the reason I bought it. Mine sounds better than the one on his demo. With Joyo I find it is hit and miss as far as not tone ( I always like the tone on my Joyos I get ) but in AC/DC input. The Voodoo Octave is the first Joyo I ever got which did not make electrical noise with a power supply. All the others had a little noticeable electrical 60 cycle thing going on.
HI, great video. I bought it second hand and I really like it, best fuzz for the money I think.
But, to the other rusty fuzz owners too, is it normal that to match the input volume that I have when the pedal is off, I have to put the volume minimum at 3 o'clock with the pedal on?
When I tested the pedal for the first time, volume on the pedal was at 12 'oclock, and that gave me a great volume loss when turning on the pedal.....is it normal or my pedal is fautly?
It seems to work properly and it has a great sound, but with volume at noon there's a great volume loss. THANKS!!
Very inteersting demo! I would be curious to see how the analog delay works and how it compares with the carbon copy....
Great pedal!
LOL. Nice overlay graphics on the pedal switch when you were talking about it. 2:10
One of the most musical fuzzes I've heard.
I dig the green pants Henning!
How does this fuzz sound going into an already dirty amp?
Would you recommend TC's Rust Fuzz or Honey Pot Fuzz for bass? If yes, which one?
I have this pedal and the volume cuts out sometimes, especially if I use it with a wah pedal in front of it, does anyone else have the same problem?
Great review! How does this compare to the Honey Pot Fuzz? And are you going to review that one too?
love TC Electronic stuff. this fuzz rocks.. I plugged one into my Mesa Heartbreaker on the dirt channel, Fuzz almost off and volume cranked, sounds awesome
a guy can dream can't he😂😂
I bought this pedal in 1996, and I can tell that's a wonderful Fuzz !
he gets it😂😂😂. if you convince yourself it's real and you own it, you practically do. besides it's basically a Behringer Super Fuzz or Fuzz Face in a different case..
Haha. Yeah that was fun. I agree with you. It's not what the pedal really is, it's what you do with it !
Chuck Norris absolutely
Cool! They should have labeled "Fuzz" "Corrosion" & "Tone" "Patina"
ur too clever making yourself a potential target by those in power
Where can you buy this pedal? Is it not available in the USA?
Would be interesting to see the actual boards compared with the old Behringer pedals they are evolved from.
I'd say give freestompboxes and thegearpage communities a week. They'll be all over these for modding like flies on a carcass. :)
Cool pedal and great demo! But boy, did it sound bad on the Vox :O
This time, the Diezel reacted better (in my opinion). It might depend on how the preamp section of those amps is designed. Recently, I discovered that my poor small guitar combo amp has a preamp that is actually a "rat distortion" always on, plugged into some sort of fender blackface parametric EQ. Even rolling back the "drive knob", the distortion is always on (diodes between line and ground). It has no clean channel.
Back there at the 90s, every kid around wanted to play Green Day - Basket Case. I think that's why the cheap entry level market amps were modelled like that back then. Fortunately, it's circuit is very simple and can be easily modified. (I can add a clean channel and an fx loop to it, but for a while it's just enough; I can learn from its odd features).
why the sound of rusty fuzz sounds different every few reviews that are shown,. was it caused by the guitar, amplifier, camera or something else?
Have you ever had any issues with this range of pedals? I'm thinking of buying a rusty fuzz, but I'm worried about the reliability because of the low price. I love how it sounds, though.
The best fuzz pedal I've played is the Moen Fuzz Moo, it's only $50 and it's based off a 70's Big Muff. By the way, when do these pedals come out in America?
I think the AC30 sounded killer with the Fuzz. I like it broken. Thanks for the review!
A year late to the discussion, but I just got this pedal, and run it through an ac-15-tv. It sounds so freaking cool how it breaks up. I panicked for a moment because I thought I blew the speaker. After some minor tweaking I had this thing dialed in. I also pair it with an ibanez tube screamer and it sounds like the walls are crumbling around you. Very cool tone for a big sound.
I agree, that really gave it a vintage sound. It was great that way!
Hallo :)
Wow, that pedal actually sounds great! I thought it sounded more like a Big Muff than a Fuzz Face, though. That loop was...uh...well, you said it yourself.
It's like a thinner less gainy muff.
@@Todesnuss and it sounds cool as fuck
A lot of people argue with me, but so far as I'm concerned, Vox amps sound great with the right fuzzes. This fuzz sounds like it agrees with the fuzz. I've only ever discovered one fuzz that my Vox didn't eat.
Hi Henning, speaking of budget Fuzz pedals: how does it compare to the Movall Octopuzz (which I think is now the Tone City Fuxx Fuzz) that you reviewed exactly two years ago?
very different... this is not an octave fuzz... this is more open
I literally just turn my settings all the way up, combine it with a distortion pedal (all the way up), and subtle reverb and BAM
Could you do a comparison to the Behringer original?
Wow, that is a sexy sound for such a low price!
Why is the Joyo amp so pathetically quiet, in these demos?
Is it really not capable of room level volume?
awesome place
Finally! A decent sounding Tc-pedal! (Sorry, but I really disliked the overdrive.)
I'll gonna give it a try I guess.
By the way: good review evenso you're not the fuzz-guy.
I have a board full of high end pedals, but I'd half consider swapping it for a board full of these pedals if it put $1000 back in the bank. A lot of people are elitist, but I think a lot of that is bullshit.
You should put your patreon link in the description.
wouldn´t it be fun to compare it to the behringer fuzz (I suspect it is the SF300) to see if it sounds better?
I have a SF300 and this is definitely a different pedal. I suspect this is the UZ400 but I haven't managed to get a confirmation.
I won't protest Henning's verdict, but since the price seems to be a crucial factor here, I'd like to mention a couple of other alternatives in the low-price/affordable range: Valeton Lazaro Modern Fuzz (cheaper than the TC) and Mooer Grey Faze (somewhat more expensive) - I haven't tried any of them myself, but from watching demo videos I found them both interesting and worth mentioning...
i liked it into the vox
Can you play Eric Johnson with that?
im new to pedals and i got a rusty fuzz just today but i gotta question, is my amp supposed to not make sound when i dont have the fuzz switched on? i have my pedal in without it switched on and i cant use my guitar regular? i dont know if that made sense but yeah lol thank you
Hi Henning.
Zumindest experimentiert man gerne damit.
Hi Maximilian.... OK, wird von jetzt an gemacht! Ist gebongt!
Maximilian Hensel What Have We Become yeah
Doesn't AC30 have a high cut in it? That would explain the difference.
Yeah it has.
But he could've has used the normal input which would explain the muffled sound aswell
VOX amps are really picky about drives sometimes
totally agree. that's why I ditched my AC15 back in the days.
Has anyone tried this pedal with a Vox VTX series?
The lesson is that Fuzz will fuzzyou up.
OMG that loop is nasty Henning, nice review though.
this is really nice affordable vintage-flavoured fuzz. mhmm.
The people like the sound of the Joyo Voodoo Octave on the video my channel. I like it too. Yeah I have better fuzzes but for that price you can't go wrong.
"What was I thinking?" Well you license expired. And now you know what happens when you think without a license: fuzzy logic
When did Spud lose his hair?
is this a tweaked Behringer UZ400 (which is a Boss FZ3 knockoff) ?
This is what I've been trying to find out but I've not managed to get a conclusive answer...
@@eyeball226 i believe i was right
@@Iggytommy I think you're right too, I've just not managed to find a concrete confirmation anywhere. I was hoping to find a teardown, schematic or even analysis of this somewhere but nothing turned up. Still, we know this is based on a Behringer fuzz (TC admitted as much) and this certainly isn't based on the SF300 (which is a Boss FZ2 knockoff instead of FZ3). I'm not sure how many other fuzzes Behringer had in their line so I reckon it must be the UZ400.
@@eyeball226 Yep. And I believe the FZ3 is related to the Fuzz Face circuit. If you see TC's official blurb on the Rusty Fuzz, they make allusions to the Fuzz Face, iirc.
@@Iggytommy Yes, the FZ3 is something like a buffered silicon Fuzz Face with a tone control.
The Rusty Fuzz is definitely also part of that family, but that in itself isn't conclusive because the family of FF derivatives is huge and diverse.
It sounds close and makes the most sense though.
ENO BMF fuzz... with carefully used gain staging is probably the cheapest workable fuzz around.
does this pedal come with the 9V plug?
no
@@EytschPi42 thankyou
What is that guitar you are playing? it looks and sounds killer
can it be used with the tonecloud?
*toneprint
No. None of the pedals from this serie work with toneprint. That's a part of the reason why they are cheaper.
Henning, "Bucks" only refers to US dollars. Now this might also cost $49 but we know you use it for all currencies. =)
I am not saying you are wrong... but why does it only refer to dollars? Yes, it is being used in the US mainly, but why can't Euros be "bucks" as well?
Since the pedal costs 49 dollars and 49 Euros, I just want to use the same term... maybe I lived in the states too long... it's just part of my vocabulary.
I've noticed that when I moved here to Germany. Seems that everyone talks like that (or at least quite a few number of people). Not too sure why...
www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2014/03/dollar-called-buck/
I know why it is called a buck, just don't know why Germans use it for euro. ;)
Trading animal skins as currency is not unique to the u.s. It's a colloquialism used for currency in many countries. That's splitting hairs any way, if someone said a couple of bucks, I know they meant around 2 pounds.
Honestly, all pedal companies suck in the "working man pedal" zone but Tc. are on it.
For forty quid you can't go wrong, (providing you no what you need).
I've ordered a Fuzz since my Fuzz face is beyond repair 😖
Tc electronics is based in the UK and yes use some Behringer designs but, I reckon they've moved on from them and made something new.
they aren’t based in the UK, TC is a danish company
You don't need to see any more fuzzes. This is the fuzz you're looking for. You can go about your business. Buy this fuzz.
Anybody who has opened up a toneprint pedal will see the cheapest pots on the market. So this makes some sense. With that said, I love my dark matter - crackly gain pot and all. Would I pay more than $50? NO.
6:04
Where did you left your glove Freddy? Btw Can i have some of your drugs?
aint too bad as for a Behringer (still cannot accept the truth that TC spited onj their tradition and changed to... this)
Sounds worse than a bag O' rusty nails and a cat a hollerin' and a caterwaulin' while being attacked by a giant dragon lizard on a hot tin roof... In my opinion anyway.
I played this at the store and it was the worst fuzz I've ever played through for my taste. I felt like I had to dig into the guitar so hard to get the "balls" to come out of the fuzz. I really recommend everyone to save their money for something better in the fuzz realm.
didn't like it at all, but I don't like fuzz period, way too bloated , farty and loose sounding for my ears.
I like the fact you do videos, and seems pasionate, but can't figure out how can people look at them from start to end : this is way, way way too long. DOn't takke it bad. Get straight to the point(s), and you'll have even more followers for sure. Imagine chosing between three pedals : one hour.
