    Great video. I've heard a lot of conflicting advice on stances, its great to have different ones compared and see the pros and cons of each

    Very helpful video, thanks!
    You mention it being best to be able to use all three stances. Do you always start with what you are most comfortable, or do you choose your starting stance based on your oppoenent?
    Second question: what's the advantage your sail dagger with one straight quillion and one curved quillion?

    • @novacombatarts
      @novacombatarts  4 месяца назад

      I choose baised on my enemy and goals or the style I'm running. As for the dagger it goes super deep why it is the way it is. I've customized every part of it for specific reasons. Down to the numbs on my quilion. One is like a triangle one Is a 3 sided clover with a 4th clover on the back. The back quillion up gives me better locks and stops cut mutations. The front quillion is the length of my bicep to cover my arm fully on cross parries. The dagger is the length that in stanxe it covers my whole leg downward and from my elbow up to my head when I cross parry. The sail is a little over the width of my hand for full coverage. The custom blade is thicker at the bottom to help feed into my locks. Also I have the front quullon straight so I can still do twin serpents guard.

    Thank you for producing and sharing this video. I've been someone who has studied many of the old manuals in practice, and have ended up with a flexible and variable style that stresses footwork and stance, but it developed organically. Sometimes you do this, other times that. I've not seen a clear synthesis of different approaches to stance so well explained in a universal perspective. I will be better for this video, and so will my students. Thank you.

      @@robertanderson2370 i appreciate the comment so much ! Thank you ! Alot of work went i to this video so i really appreciate it when people watch and learn from it. Its taken me 5 years to create a system that breaks everytbing down into a universal perspective and im still working on more haha

      @@favkisnexerade for this reason is why i have over arching terms too haha. Or just like certain styles. Oh he does giganti he is rear weight, and bladed lol. I feel its important to be able to notice every nuance of thier stance though but it can become a mouth full thats for sure . Wait tell the video like this that will be on all the costs of how and where you hold your sword lol when you combine that plus stance, good lord its a mouth full but we made it simple with over arching terms as well lol.

      @@novacombatarts you dropped best hema video I ever saw. My club focused on all weapons we get our hands on and cross weapons sparrings.
      I havw formal training in military saber so I was teaching middle width, middle weight, middle height footwork. Your video opened eyes what was missing, and I saw combinations of parameters of footwork that some of my guys are naturally doing better than what I was teaching, so since tommorow we'll start practicing all combinations of footwork and stance instead of one. I already took notes from your video, you explaining pros and cons is also incredible, because when someone will ask me what's the point, I'll just read of notes of your cons and pros. :D
