Hello Oscar. I am feeling a little humbled and embarrassed this morning. I made a mistake in scheduling my video last week. Trains on Tuesday became Trains on Monday and as a result I put out a second video on the correct date. In that I showed my visit with you and my visit with Mr. Snooze. I had one comment mentioning your Hornby Dublo station and I replied that I had not seen it. That is because it looked so different when I saw it compared to how it looked when you first showed it. Also when I checked my channel first thing this morning I have gained many new subscriptions and the views on last weeks video have jumped substantially. The power of a good referral, thank you. Your purchases at the show were very impressive, you certainly found some great bargains that day. I was a little more restrained that day because it was still quite early days in my holiday and with the Warley show still ahead of me I was already becoming concerned with the weight of my suit-case. I enjoyed the running once more today albeit brief and it was great to remember our day out at the Newcastle & District MRS show and to see your footage from the day. I have yet to look at what I got but perhaps it is timely to put it to use in a video. Regards, David.
Good morning David, I'm sure everything works out in the end. It was a great day at the show we visited together. You managed to get impressive amount into your suitcase for your return journey, must've been very difficult to stay so restrained over the period of your visit, so many great shows and far too many tempting items. All the best. Oscar
Excellent video Oscar, the station looks superb. The sound the Dublo items make is amazing. The show footage was lovely to watch. Take care, all the best to you
Hi Oscar, thanks for the video, great to see the station built up and in use, I'd really love on of those, but they are very costly. Nice to see the Triang and Crescent signals, I have some lovely examples of Crescent in quite remarkable condition, really nice things to own.
Hi glad you like the Crescent signals and have a few in your collection, I wonder how many different variations they made over the years, they really are quite wonderful looking things. All the best. Oscar
Morning Paul, I wasn’t sure whether I’d have enough space to make enough out of either system and use them together. I think it’s now developing into a nice balance between the two. Take care. Oscar
Good morning Oscar. Starting my Sunday well as usual . That was a great exhibition, thanks for sharing your video of it. Looking forward to next week already. Roy.
Nice footage of the show Oscar, don't think we'll ever stop buying more stuff from such events. I saw Dave Atkins footage of his visit as he also visited Mr Snooze. The station looks really impressive in place, it's a great idea having both systems running side by side.
Hi thanks again glad you enjoyed the footage of the show along with the development of the station. I'm sure they'll be the odd drawback here and they're trying to run both systems side-by-side but I think it will be great fun in the long run having access to both. All the best. Oscar
Great video and nice bargains. Will be stealing your cork base board idea looks great round room. Your controller is great too something to invest in future as teather unit is great. Nice to see Fleetwood model layout too.
Good morning Mark thanks for watching, great to hear you enjoyed the video, the Morley controllers are terrific they have given a great deal of control over these older models. Very enjoyable day out with David Atkins at the show. All the best. Oscar
Can't wait to see further developments and stock running. Both systems works very well together making interesting comparisons. Like me Oscar, you'll never stop buying those "Bargains"! Long may you continue.
Good morning Rob thanks again for taking the time to watch, railway changing all the time, glad you like the look of how it's coming together. I think the answer would be to stop putting myself in a position where these bargains present them selfs... But that's probably not likely to happen! Take care. Oscar
Good morning, glad you enjoyed the footage from the show and like the look of Tri-ang 2 & Dublo 3 rail together on the same layout, I think they site very well side by side with each other. Thanks for watching, all the best. Oscar
Hi Oscar, The layout cointinues to grow.. You are making goods use of the space available from the earlier layout's table.. The model show footage was nice, but I enjoy the "old toy trains' more? You are so lucky, with the great "additions" that you come away with? Some real treasures..... Thanks for another great bit of nostalgia....
Afternoon Robin, it's definitely turned into a bit of a jigsaw moving to 3-rail and 2-rail around each other to get a good compromise, but all good fun. I was very pleased with those vintage spares, definitely be useful in the future. All the best. Oscar
Looks like a good exhibition . I’m looking forward to Model Rail Scotland late February . Missed the last one because of Covid . That station is a magnificent centrepiece to the layout . You’ve incorporated that really well .
Morning Russell, glad you like the look of the station I think its going to develop quite nicely with both the 3 Rail and 2 Rail in this position, it certainly does eat up a bit of space. Terrific day out at the show, really enjoyed it especially going along with David Atkins. Hope you enjoy Model Rail Scotland looks like it should be a great event. All the best. Oscar
Great video this morning Oscar, station is looking really good now that it has been extended, hope you enjoyed the Tyne show as well, some good layouts there from the looks of the shots that you captured, that tram layout looked really good.
Hi David glad you like the look of the station now it's grown a little. The show was a terrific day out with some lovely layouts to look see. Thanks again take care. Oscar
Hi thanks again glad you enjoyed that, it's great fun seeing how the track work comes together and making changes here and there to see what works and making improvements here and there. All the best. Oscar
Morning Oscar, the main line station looks good just there, also the siding for the dmu. I've always had a soft spot for dmu's growing up mainly on the east coast in Clacton on sea we would go to Colchester and be taken to London by a local train to collect the mainline from Euston to Stranraer Scotland then boat to Belfast and local train again to Londonderry. Dad said it was a 23hour journey. Anyway its funny watching these old trains running what memories are evoked. Looks like a good show som good bits. Take care oscar looking forward to next week already, Eddy xx
Good afternoon Eddy, thanks again for watching glad the video brought back great memories, I used to spend a fair bit of time myself on a very noisy DMU in between West Yorkshire and Manchester back in the mid-1980s, they had a very distinctive smell and an impressive range of vibrations. All the best. Oscar
Layout coming along nicely IMHO. I used to run some 3 rail Hornby Dublo, but after a while I found that just having one type of turnout a bit of a restriction. I found the rear truck on a duchess of Montrose was prone to derailing on a turnout, even when moving quite slowly. No doubt my efforts in trying to correct old, bent track was also to blame! Kindest regards.
Good morning sparky107107, glad you like the station, it's a terrific item from Hornby Dublo, all part of the fun the evolution of our layouts. Thanks for watching, all the best. Oscar
Hi Oscar ,, I absolutely love the sound of the knurled wheels on any dmu and tc loco or on the double ended loco's. So was the knurling on the wheels (if thats even a word haha) to make the tractive effort better or was to simmulate the sound of diesel electric motor bogies ? I suppose either way its a win. You got so many good buys there an cheap too. They want an arm and a leg for some of the bits over here in oz. Cheers from John in Australia
Afternoon John, I was never sure myself whether it was for the sound or traction but as you say it's great either way. I think the spares will definitely come in handy. Thanks again take care. Oscar
Hiya @ 23:23 - I have the very same 'Princess Victoria' but doesn't work to well 😐 @ 26:39 - I have the same 'Margate' sign on my small Tri-Ang Station Building, the 1 with the small Newspaper Kiosk. @ 27:11 - I also have the same (Tri-Ang R43) 1 armed Signal - mine has the weight at the bottom (Beware - where the arm fixes on to the metal post at the top - very fragile - breaks easily) @ 28:47 - yep have the same Crescent 3 Armed Signal (Mine has 2 Prices - undernieth say 3/6 - then on the top side it say £8 on a small sticker!!!) @ 29:11 That Hornby Plastic Signal is a double Armed Signal - 1 Arm on each side of the platform on the top side - hope that helps a bit 🙂🚂🚂🚂
Good morning Jimyjames73 thanks for watchingand the information, much appreciated, I love the little signs that Tri-ang put on their buildings. All the best. Oscar
Hattons have a sale on at the moment with lots of Hornby Dublo and early Triang items going cheap. I also saw decals for those TR diesels on E-bay. By the way Oscar NEVER join the RM Web forum. Members would be very condescending about how you do things on your layout. Even the moderators are brother chip. They had a good go at Sam from Sam's Trains recently for running trains on carpets! Love the video.
Good afternoon Graham thanks for the great information, loverly to hear you enjoyed the video I really am having quite good fun playing around with both these systems and finding it very rewarding, however after the Christmas break I find myself at the point where I've had to go back to work and not quite got the Railway up and running as I would want having dismantle part of it to quite a degree just so I could reinstate it with some proper wiring and improve the track connections, again all good fun but now time is the problem as real life interferes once again. All the best. Oscar
The Hornby Dublo Station 5083 was far superior to anything that Triang Hornby at Margate ever designed and produced. Hornby c2023 would do well to reproduce the Hornby Dublo 5083 station with new tooling etc.
I've just realised after ? years, you don't "play trains" It's nice, Great! to see the collection, history, running, "how it works" and the "take to bits"/maintenance Vids! But no "story" as to why the train arriving at platform ? to ? is doing it's "thing" 🤓👍👍
Good morning, great to hear you're enjoying these videos, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, It's all very much appreciated. All the best. Oscar
Hi Oscar, Good progress on the HD track and the layout in general. I hope you realise you are embarrassing the Scottish nation by picking up bargains at these prices 🤣😉and I'm sure the poor runners will benefit hugely from some TLC, decent bag of signals etc. for £5. Some lovely layouts at the show 👍
Good morning Gordon, it was a great day out Glad you enjoyed the look over the footage, definitely came away with a few items for the railway as well as some spares to use in the future. All the best. Oscar
Thank you for this morning's viewing. The Dublo station looks great on your layout! There is an interesting documentary online (google: The Survival of Triang Hornby) where Richard Lines discusses the takeover on Hornby by Triang, well worth a watch if you have not seen it. I have a Crescent footbridge, which is an interesting item. It is visually identical to the Dublo footbridge, but goes together quite differently. The Dublo and Triang look really good together on your developing layout - looking forward to how it progresses. Best wishes, Gordon 🙂
Good afternoon Gordon thanks again, I'll have a look out for that documentary and the Crescent footbridge sounds like an intriguing item. Glad you're enjoying the Dublo and Triang together. Take care. Oscar
Watched with one of my Boys. We really enjoyed it. Thanks again.
Good afternoon Gavin it's great to hear you all enjoyed the video.
Take care.

My morning is made! Rusty Staples!

I have seen the Canada Street layout, some years ago at the York Model Railway Show, usually Easter time!
Morning Oscar. Great footage and further evidence that Dublo 3-rail, 2-rail and Triang all work together just as we recall.
Good morning, glad you enjoyed the footage from the show and like the look of Tri-ang 2 & Dublo 3 rail together on the same layout, I think they site very well side by side with each other.
