Loving this play through. I was lucky and found a Maurader early on and now I am running a Tier 3 Medium Rifle instead of the A/C5 and it hits like a bus for sure
I was playing with a buddy of mine yesterday and found a pristine annihilator in a store. was kinda underwhelmed by the 4 lbx10's it came with, but swapped it out for 4 heavy rifles. everyone needs to try this. its very hot, but you can one shot some mediums. the rifles are great weapons
That Dragon hero variant is so GOOD!!! I really enjoy using that mech, maybe too much. And I really like the new, different missions PGI busted out with the DLC. It makes the missions so much more interesting.
Found a use for MGs, I had 5 tier 5 MGs in inventory (thanks?) collecting dust. Had spots in my ECM Battlemaster for two. Damn the MGs are fantastic for clearing trees etc out of your LOS, they SHRED buildings in demolition missions and are pretty good at continuous DPS while other weapons are cooling down. A pleasant surprise to be sure
Watching the part where you thought about ac2's in the arm for the thunderbolt. I have experimented and have found a nice brawl build utilizing 2 light rifles 4 med sb and an srm 6&4. I enjoyed it, maybe you guys might too. Loving the series though, your builds inspire me to do more crazy builds and think more critically about what mechs play what roles in the cohesion of my lance. Much appreciation!
HBK-4P: 6 torso mounted MPL's - 46.4 damage; with 10% energy damage takes it to 51.4 damage, every 3.5 seconds. 4-6 full alpha's before overheat on a hot map, and around 7-9 on a cold. The build is amazing for demolishing the cities, as I can hold down chain-fire and constant burn things away. One MPL can kill a turret, and 2 alpha's can wipe out the strongest ground armor. Mech's take no more than 4 shots to CT, no matter what mech. Both arms have their weapons removed, so I can shield with both arms, and the left side torso. Hardest part was finding the MPL's and enough DHS's to make it viable. I also use the 15% range and 7.5% range quirks, to make the MPL's have the same range as T1 ML's. I call him the Wubbernaut.
Air strikes are really good in Demolition missions. A single air strike can generally do about 25-50% of the damage to the base for you in one shot. As for Cantina objectives, the missions only spawn them as separate special adds, so killing any old mech won't increase your tally on the Cantina mission count, only the specific ones it adds count. Ryana will give you a verbal cue to let you know when a mech that's on your hit list appears.
Thank you for not doing the silly voices I was able to clearly understand you when reading this time and it was awesome, thank you again. That Dragon has an AMS slot on it as well, that's going to be a fun mech to pilot for sure. Great episode thanks Bara Dude... =)
Man the LRM's are so. Frustrating. I'm running a catapult with twin t3 LRM15 streams and the spread is just agonizingly bad. I really hope someone mods in a 25% tighter spread for ALL LRM's The mech I've gotten that is HILARIOUSLY powerful is the blackjack hero. swap the LPL with a PPC and upgrade all the machine guns, and it just absolutely CHEWS through mechs and demo missions. A riot to play too. Once I was done using it, I stripped it and put four light rifles and 3 small lasers on it, and it became a REALLY powerful support mech even into heavier content.
Regarding the LRMs, I'm actually using a Stalker (I know, I know, but it was the only mech I could afford that can carry all the ammo I need) with twin t4 LRM20 ST+Artemis and anything that moves slower than 75 kph gets destroyed with a few salvos of very accurate LRMs.
@@nunosilva8938 Do you feel like they made the initial spread too big to justify and make the upgrade to artemis feel more substantial? Buying the game and expansion next week im just curious.
@@Steelgrey666 Yup, I tried first with just regular LRM20 and I hated them. I found those two LRM20 ST+ART, bought them, put them on and started fielding that Stalker in every single mission. They just go through so much ammo...
The weapon ranges are bizarre in this game, AC2s are close range weapons for some reason, topping out at like 400m instead of MWO and EVERY OTHER BLOODY GAME'S AC2S which can hit 1km.
Tbh the whole range concept in any MW game is way over my head. We can fire projectiles over hundreds of kilometers nowadays and in the 31st century it takes a huge effort to fire anything beyond 1000m. I know where it comes from and why it is like that but after decades of MW tabletop or video games it’s more than time to change that. It’s just ridiculous that you pilot dozen meters high robots full with sota tech but at the end it’s all about close combat at 100m distance. A modern rifle has a bigger range than any MW weapon with many more times the size.
@@smilingbandit4975 As far as hundreds of kilometers away, I don't think we're there. Longest projectile (non assisted, IE: no rocket/ missile shenanigans) shot I believe is the hilarious German Paris gun with a 75 mile shot (120~km for the heathens) . In the games, it can kinda be rationalized as bigger projectiles lose speed over distance (although like you said, the 300m range of a AC20, which iirc is something like a 8in gun, or 203mm, is pretty ridiculous, I'd rationalize it at this point as small charges in the shells) faster than little ones. Giving AC2s the power of snipe, and the thicc shells the power of FUCK YOU I'M A HAMMER. AC2s will slice through, AC20s will just laugh and dent their way through with sheer weight. And as far as 100m distance goes, if you're this close, you already screwed up. There's very little reason to let anything get that close. Video games don't count, because us humans abuse the AI to get close and surgically take them apart. Because we can't just look at the code and immediately know where our target is in a Cartesian coordinate system.
@@orangedream267 Yeah, that’s what I meant. You’d rather try to take out something dangerous like a Battlemech from as far away as possible than waiting for it to come close enough to hug you. Maybe one day there will be maps big enough and mods to reflect this. Until then I have to deal with advanced weapon systems with ranges of recent rifles.
ive been following your lets play series and i really can't wait to see you get to tier 9-11 missions. i'm there at the moment with Highlander, Highlander hero, cyclops q (i think) and thunderbolt (or wolvie depending on tonnage req) and i'm really struggling at the moment. i really wanna see your strategies in the harder missions to see how you deal with bigger tougher missions. cant wait to learn from them haha.
you could have saved a lot of money by putting some of the mechs you never use in storage so when you got the dragon you did not need to reequip everything on it, also mechs in styorage has no upkeep while mechs (not used) in bays cost a lot over time.
So, I started playing again after watching a few of these videos, and they definitely did enough to make the game feel fresh again. The only thing that still happens way too much that I wanted a fix for is ending up two or three points short of salvage to get a new mech. I mean, come on! Let me throw some C-bills in to make up the difference! I HATE seeing a nice mech in the salvage screen and then finding out I'm two points short of getting it. Its a definite 'feels bad' moment that is still happening way too often.
It's not just you. Stream LRM and SRM tries to keep all the missiles in one spot, standard ones just fire a volley the blankets the area. You see a lot of the thunderbolt's missiles just hitting the ground around the target because of that. Regular missiles are not so bad against huge targets but smaller stuff they are garbage.
NEVER going with Epic game store again after this stream release. I cant remember but im pretty sure i paid 50 for it on epic and it was BROKEN. Then it released on Steam for 30. Every game on epic runs horribly sometimes noticeable and sometimes barely but its still a pattern that they have. Even the launcher is buggy. Sticking with Steam for good after that experience. Anyways on a positive note thanks for the upload! This game is alot of fun and this upload made me spend 80 dollars for a game twice! lol
You're right, that's a lot of damage to that spider, I think you'll need some American popular product to fix it. + After repair, it will also float on water.
I used two thunderbolts through a lot of the campaign- configured almost like this except I put an srm4 in and an lrm 10 instead of lrm 15. Nicely balanced for AI pilots
The "Time and Money" saving goes out the window anyway, because you have to travel to a place as well, where you can then refit and repair for less. Which in turn costs often even more than just repairing it on the spot in a conflict zone. So it doesn't matter.
It’s all contextual, if you’re running assaults or heavies it’s 100% worth it especially if you’ve taken a lot of damage. I’ve probably saved millions of C-Bills by going to Hubs when they’re close-ish.
I had to look up info about the AI pilots because they seemed so bad. After learning that the main thing that affects their DPS is the weapon grouping I managed to make them actually useful.
I find they don't use the weapon groups. I have an archer with 4 med lasers and 2 lrm 15's, 2 weapon groups and both on chain fire. THEY NEVER CHAINFIRE, ever. Period. They always fire all weapon groups as alpha.
@@1332puresin that's because they can't use chain fire. And they won't alpha strike if it overheats. I have alternates on my alphas so that they can fire each weapon individually if it'll overheat. Like group 1 is 3 large lasers but each one also has its own other weapon group by itself so the AI will shoot one at a time if needed.
@@1332puresin you can't make weapon groups only for you. The AI has awkward logic processing so you have to make redundancies they can use. Of course this also means you'll have to learn how to use different weapon group styles unless you want useless AI. Like LRM should never be group 1 if you have other weapons because they prioritize group 1 and will backstep forever trying to get minimum range if something is too close.
Despite my feelings about the game, when I played it during the initial release, I found flamers to be the fastest building destruction I could achieve. Because the buildings don't seem to care about actual damage, only "number of hits", the 1200 shot per minute weapons just melt structures. Especially since they also seem to have aoe properties, so they hit multiple sections of a building at once. The big problem with running flamers is that they are not generally useful on large mechs, very poor range and slow speed don't make for a good combination, and being the leader in a "light mech" is a recipe for disaster if you take an alpha strike from something big... and putting an AI in the mech makes it too stupid to actually do what you want. What I ended up doing was putting a single flamer on my bigger mechs so I had a cheap, heat efficient weapon to murder buildings without consuming ammo or wasting laser cooldowns. I am looking forward to whatever mechs you can cobble together with real loadouts.
I *think* the sound bug may have happened because you dropped the airstrike on the dropship instead of the ground? Since the dropship left the field, it wasn't able to complete the airstrike cycle and left the marker active. I noticed there wasn't a red ring like previous airstrikes, either
I didnt read the mission description for that canyon mission so i brough a hunchback. I still suprised I managed to get out, though with most of my mech missing.
@baradul I know its machine guns and flamers, but those two smaller weapon systems are perfect for wrecking up bases. nil heat and its near impossible to shoot 1/2ton of mg ammo with two machine guns in a mission, even if you hold the trigger down from start to finish.
Bro use the hunchback 4P with nothing but chem lasers! You won’t regret it, such a beast brawler you can one shot mechs from the back or even the front with a well placed shot!!!!
Hey Baradul, or friendly comment folks, I bought the K9 for its double heat sinks and UAC5 but I can't figure out what to run the UAC5 on. What's a good mech in the 50-70 ton range to put it in and, potentially, trust the AI with?
By watching this series I want to get back into MW. Haven't played since MW2. There's so much debate about whether to play HOTAS or keyboard & mouse. How do Baradul and viewers of this channel play?
Baradul if you ever get the chance to buy the spider-A get it it is one of the most fun I've had with a light mech ever and I'm not a light Mech pilot this is one of the only light Mechs I pilot though its torso turning speed definitely needs to be upgraded. If found get it its worth it
I didn't know i'd need JJs nor speed for the 50 ton mission and went in with a lasboat hunchie. Ended soloing the enemy lance because i thought at first the ambush area would be the bridge xD.
I have an 805k upkeep cost but I'm at a station and the hero mech cyclops slepnir is available for 33 million is it worth pick up? I have 15 mil but several mechs and weapons I could sell
SRM6 missiles work well against Locusts. As well they work against anything up to Heavy and then you need more dps for them and assaults. I made lvl 15 last night. Ofc i play 10 hours a day. I got into a side mission that even required I not have anything more than a jump jet 50 ton mech or 2 mechs at no more than 50T between them. It was a bitch mission I cannot recommend. It was a Kurita mission sequence. I am still doing the old campaign storyline and need to get it done next. Without the lvl mod available I can't go over lvl 15 though :( Still have not found an Atlas BH mech. I hope they are available but only model D so far. Anni 1X are the bomb though.:) With speed upgrade they make 48 kph and the loadout you can do not hem is wonderful. 4 ballistic and 8 energy heheheh. I was forced to play beachhead on 2 mission starts. I figured out a great way to get them done without having to fight everybody:) I get the arty's killed first then the radar dishes and then go after arty's again in seconds wave. When I get back almost all the enemy have been killed by allies and I just need to hit a couple tanks :) Sweet! I did that mission and it sucks.DCMS is a bunch of clowns. You will need jump jets for sure. Then you have to tag 5 enemy and get them to follow you without them killing you. I used the Firestarter and went by myself. Couldn't get a 50T limit with jump jets as I had to go buy mechs to do the mission. 2 jump jets are enough. It will be frustrating to get it done. Well crfap...i thought we had to shoot them to get the tags done. Gratz on doing it the easy way LOL...I did it the hard way LOL I found a Hero Banshee but it wasn't the LM version so it wasn't any good :(
I had a bug with this mission where the reinforcement never came. So I was stuck in a Hunchback 4P fighting 5 mechs solo. I literally ended fighting the Dragon who got stuck as I teetered between 500m-480m so my last 2x T5 MLas could hit him and he couldn't return fire. I ended less than half a mech and I was PISSED at that bug! Lol

Flamers are very similar. Massive building damage, and surprisingly good sustained dps in melee.
Thanks Baradul. Wasn't sure if I was going to get this game...now I know I am. Cheers.
9 Nov 3019? It's my 1045th birthday!
Thank you for not doing the silly voices I was able to clearly understand you when reading this time and it was awesome, thank you again.
That Dragon has an AMS slot on it as well, that's going to be a fun mech to pilot for sure.
Great episode thanks Bara Dude... =)
Nice "Walkthrough" in the first mission 😉
Just a heads up. Agincourt with SRMs is amazing
I swear to god, you look like the gentleman from Frog Leap studios lol great content thxs!
Man the LRM's are so. Frustrating.
I'm running a catapult with twin t3 LRM15 streams and the spread is just agonizingly bad.
I really hope someone mods in a 25% tighter spread for ALL LRM's
The mech I've gotten that is HILARIOUSLY powerful is the blackjack hero. swap the LPL with a PPC and upgrade all the machine guns, and it just absolutely CHEWS through mechs and demo missions.
That last mission was so cool
I always love the sound of the ppc like pshoow bzzzt
Until then I have to deal with advanced weapon systems with ranges of recent rifles.
ive been following your lets play series and i really can't wait to see you get to tier 9-11 missions. i'm there at the moment with Highlander, Highlander hero, cyclops q (i think) and thunderbolt (or wolvie depending on tonnage req) and i'm really struggling at the moment. i really wanna see your strategies in the harder missions to see how you deal with bigger tougher missions. cant wait to learn from them haha.
oh and my Orion -V which is currently my MVP. took out two battlemasters with 3xSRM4's to the face. TO THE FACE.
you could have saved a lot of money by putting some of the mechs you never use in storage so when you got the dragon you did not need to reequip everything on it, also mechs in styorage has no upkeep while mechs (not used) in bays cost a lot over time.
Yeah always leave one slot free for times like this
The short ranges seen on the HUD are "optimal ranges". They still do damage (roughly) twice the distance out.
Awesome job on that last mission in the questline! I took a panther without ECM, almost failed it.
+1
Htfu
Oh man, I’m watching you prep for the final mission, physically wincing as you reduce your rear armour to 6. This should be... interesting.
Nice job with the Spider. But... not gonna put the AMS on the Dragon?? (Don’t forget you need ammo for that as well)
i think stream lrms are a bit better than normal ones, it feels like more missiles hit the target but it might just be me.
So many of the hero mechs are interesting. Wait until you find the Hero Cicada, or the Hero Locust.. zoooom! Makes raid missions super fast.
This game is alot of fun and this upload made me spend 80 dollars for a game twice! lol
Light rifles are also good option for small ballistic hardpoints, especially if You can mount 2 or more and especially tier 5 rifles.
I did this mission with a Phoenix Hawk with a MASC, a light rifle, and a couple medium lasers. LOL I was a blast
Got a hero kintaro just a few moments ago and then I seen this upload lol
The Thunderbolt is pretty good, with proper heat management. Swap the PPC for a large laser.
Listed range in the UI is not your maximum range for non-Missile weapons, it's the effective range.
i did the missions for that dragon yesterday. it got pretty crazy for me when i did it also i had a ton of fun.
You're right, that's a lot of damage to that spider, I think you'll need some American popular product to fix it.
+ After repair, it will also float on water.
Hiya! You know so much about this game its crazy!! I wish you could do a tutorial and go very slow for newbies!
I’ve probably saved millions of C-Bills by going to Hubs when they’re close-ish.
that marauder at the end: wiiiiii we won
My first hero was a Commando. 👍
Hey Baradul you should do a multiplayer game with Tex of the Black Pants Legion. Play as the Steiner scout lance!
I got the Highlander Heavy Metal Hero mech for 18m today and OMG scrap metal everywhere!!!!!
I *think* the sound bug may have happened because you dropped the airstrike on the dropship instead of the ground? Since the dropship left the field, it wasn't able to complete the airstrike cycle and left the marker active. I noticed there wasn't a red ring like previous airstrikes, either
I ran into the same sound bug on the same mission.
@@BuckMD Interesting. Mine was just a guess, so there may be more to it, then
I didnt read the mission description for that canyon mission so i brough a hunchback. I still suprised I managed to get out, though with most of my mech missing.
You should run the T-bolt with srm 4 and 6, with PPC, an 2 m-guns, 3 m-lasers if you plan on piloting the mech.
@baradul I know its machine guns and flamers, but those two smaller weapon systems are perfect for wrecking up bases. nil heat and its near impossible to shoot 1/2ton of mg ammo with two machine guns in a mission, even if you hold the trigger down from start to finish.
The hero dragon is fun although a bit short on ammo for long fights . Ai pilots do rather well with it.
I used the Enforcer to do that last mission, I wanted to have some fire power.
I can say, dual ER PPC on the AI piloted Warhammer is pretty good
Bro use the hunchback 4P with nothing but chem lasers!
Hunchback will work for 50 ton. The 4H Hunchback if You can get one. With the UAC5, and 5 Laser Slots, the AI guys work super well with it.
Black knights and mauraders need double heatsinks badly to be viable . Chem lasers make them alot of fun and ai pilot friendly.
Jagger is a poorman's Riffleman of sorts... LOL
I used a PXH-1 Phoenix Hawk. It was ideal for the mission.
No one expects the Crimson Inclination!!!!!
Too bad it is 50 tons... The Royal Griffin would be fantastic! I think I'll be doing this mission in my Phoenix Hawk -2.
im pretty close to getting this game
Do it !
By watching this series I want to get back into MW. Haven't played since MW2. There's so much debate about whether to play HOTAS or keyboard & mouse. How do Baradul and viewers of this channel play?
Both, depends. If I'm in a brawler in use my hotas, but if I'm using a middle boat mak all the way
kb/m since mw2:mercs
20:33 did the airstrike get stuck on the invisible wall the dropship left?
Do not be surprised, it is tier 0 PPC, I have never used a tier 0 weapon, they are only good for money. :)
Baradul if you ever get the chance to buy the spider-A get it it is one of the most fun I've had with a light mech ever and I'm not a light Mech pilot this is one of the only light Mechs I pilot though its torso turning speed definitely needs to be upgraded.
If found get it its worth it
9:32 Uh.... 'PPC and flee'?
Electronic crickets! lol
I didn't know i'd need JJs nor speed for the 50 ton mission and went in with a lasboat hunchie. Ended soloing the enemy lance because i thought at first the ambush area would be the bridge xD.
I didn't read the quest description on my playthrough so I had to slog my hunchback-P through the whole mission, but I just made it in the end.
A spider with a flea would be a decent fast team
Eternally grateful to their sworn enemy, who they trusted with an important secret operation, huh?
Gratz on doing it the easy way LOL...I did it the hard way LOL I found a Hero Banshee but it wasn't the LM version so it wasn't any good :(
Is the AI any better than what it was with the base game? I am anxiously looking at picking this up.
you should try building that thunderbolt with twin light rifles
4 light rifles and a 2 med lasers is the build your looking for on that jagermech.
I just got the game and I feel I'm so far behind you... why even start!
How should I approach this situation tben?
should i download this since it's free on xbox gamepass now?
Have a friend that already has every single hero mech in the game.
is it me?
@@The_Infrared ;) Maybe!
Lol
Invite me next time baradul I’ll help out in those high tier missions!!!
