@@Dan19870 lithoids have the ability to colonize a planet via meteor. i should know i have a terravore lithoid and megacorp lithoid civ that i made and play alot.
@@Dan19870 if you pick the "calamitous birth" origin as the lithoids your species literally reproduce by all coming out of giant rocks and instead of building colony ships you can just make a new giant rock and YEET it as an asteroid to colonize the planet it collides with. Hence why they said the rock was "their mother", it literally is a living hive queen made of rock with no propulsion or way to change course, flung accross the galaxy to smash into some planet for colonization. It. Is. Awesome. It also makes you incredibly unpopular if you use it against inhabited planets, specially if they actually have owners... but it's worth it if you're a terravore or genocidal in some way.

Hello, I just started stellaris a couple weeks ago, and yesterday my first psychic species got access to the shroud. Should I not go into it? I've been scared to mess with it after the first time I opened an L-Gate

UPD: it was in earlier version, now only one covenant has this drawback. Still, synthetic or pure genetic routes are much more beneficial in practice

That makes sense, you start out wanting to explore and full of optimism, later you have seen so many failures, idiotic nonsense and out right evil, that you just want everyone to STOP so you can build something that works...
unless your a dirty builder player like me i spend the whole time in first place with ease with mdos but also rarely take more then 10 systems and spend the whole time terra mega stellar and giga forming it into perfection.
And then you turn into Lathrix and the Galaxy becomes your playground

Yep, that's Stellaris.
It’s never resources, it’s always the fact that I kept one friend for the majority of the game then turned on them once I own the rest of the galaxy. And I normally only got them as ally’s so I only had to worry about on front.... 70% of the time. The other thirty is when my allies are stupid and let themselves be taken over

I remember hearing somewhere that this was because it was possible to brutally cheese the AI with system trade deals. If they're going to make it impossible they should really just remove the option altogether, but I guess in multiplayer it's a thing?

Sounds more like the borg cooperative to me. (Borg cooperative is made up of drones who were disconnected from the collective but remained connected to other drones. It’s in an episode or two of Star a Treck Voyager)

I highly recommend it. It's one of those games that makes you think you'll only play for a couple hours, then you realize that an entire day has passed and you need to get ready for work.

I just finished my first game of Stellaris like 20 minutes ago. It was 80 years of peaceful expansion and resource-gathering followed by 2 years of getting completely obliterated by all of my neighbors. 10/10, would recommend.
Eventually you'll get so bored you crank up the difficulty to Admiral without scaling and set Crisis difficulty to x25.
And it only gets better with mods.

I'm a vet and that line "I'm not sure I'm high enough rank to be having this conversation." had me holding my sides I was laughing so hard. I've been in those conversations.
When you always try to go on a passive run but the AI forces your hand into becoming a galactic super power.
My first real run in Stellaris had me playing as Pacifist Fanatic Egalitarians. I started a Federation, allowed everyone to live in utopian abundance, liberated a few worlds from slavers in defensive wars, etc. Then the rest of the Federation I built suddenly became big fans of slavery, and I had to leave the Federation and saturation bomb all their homeworlds into submission to make them stop it.
In my ongoing playthrough, I'm running a MegaCorp that's totally going to bring peace and prosperity to the galaxy, by bribing every other empire into gradually signing away their legal rights and amassing political power until they can declare themselves sole rulers of the galaxy. Then they'll use their limitless power to... abolish slavery, bring an end to war, and ensure a new era of galactic prosperity.

This science officer should be an ambassador. He was suddenly, without warning, sprung into a one-sided conversation with 5 of the top-ranking officials of 5 different alien species and navigated the entire thing calmly, concisely, and *without error. (*Citation needed.)
