I bought Diablo 3 because I liked Diablo 2, but when I heard the necromancer wouldn't return I lost interest so I never touched it. A few months down the line I decided to install SC: Brood War to my new computer, only to find out I couldn't access my blizzard account. Going into my email, a quick keyword search brought up a bunch of letters from Blizzard saying someone kept getting my password wrong. The final email was one confirming that someone had changed the email associated with the account. I immediately went to Blizzard support and got someone in a chat program with me. I managed to prove that my account had been hijacked and got it back. When I logged on, I saw that I was now banned from downloading or playing diablo 3, and I had never touched it. At all. I got into contact with someone again and managed to prove that it had been locked while I had been hacked. To my glee, they restored it and I booted up Diablo 3 for the first time. And that's the story of how with zero effort on my part I logged on to find all characters maxed out with epic gear.

Actually, I think you are mistaking it. A common misconception with quite a number of other thing too. He is the leader of the angels but "leader" does not mean "best". He doesn't have to be the best at fighting or the wisest or the bravest. However, he must be able to take advantage of each of his angels' strengths and weaknesses to lead them to victory. Also, his title aflix is "valor" which can be loosely interpreted as he won't back down from a fight against even the most dangerous enemies. So his "strength" is probably in will power.

I have fought with this "Eternal Conflict" since D1 as well nearly 20 years ago and have killed Diablo more times than I can count and it just seems like what is the point? He just keeps getting resurrected..
From what I gather, as she was the diablo daughter, she had a fragment of his essence. That's how he survived the shattering of his soulstone in D2. That was a plan all along :D
In D2 you destroyed soulstones in Hells Forge because that's the only place where the essence inside is also destroyed. I think that Tyrael also mentions that "Whatever is destroyed on Hell Anvil is lost forever". So I think that basically Diablo, as the most foreseeing of the three, had a backup plan - to have part of his essence separately, as his offspring. That's why he never really died. But that's just my interpretation, I could be wrong.

I always thought live action was more expensive to make, considering you'd be paying for sets, props, make up, cameras, costumes, traveling to locations, actors, stunt doubles, etc. whereas CGI it'd be just voice actors, computers, artists, audio etc. Then again, I suppose it depends on how much the equipment is and how big everyone's paycheck is supposed to be.

Yeah, the gear and character abilities advanced faster than the monster difficulty. One of the bigger game patches gave you a chance to change the difficulty, which I thought was a nice touch. Made it a little more fun.
Well, there's nothing new you can do with an MMO because then you'd have to worry about the main source being changed or not... I'm sure they don't mean to repeat the Diablo games but they can't really get any farther than that, you know?

hes not dead, he opened the gates to pandemonium for for the nephalem, malathiel didnt want to kill the angels, only demon. untill about half way though your fight with him and he decides to eat the fucking soul stone, then he suddenly became Andarial/Durial/Mephisto/Diablo/Baal/Azmodan and Belieal at the same time.....like...... cmon......sure malthiel you want to get rid of demons you say? but then you decide fuck it ill become 7 demons in one, and better yet how about the most filthy demons to ever exsist..... I would have loved it more if it was single player and more story driven. The premise of the story is honestly great. I think it could have been the best game of all time if they hadn't turned it into the usual grindy repetitive RNG-loot multiplayer bs. I played D3 for a while. Almost a year. But it just becomes too boring. I've come back to it several times over the years. Yet it never captured me for long. It's just the same levels over and over. Heck you don't even get to play the story anymore you play greater rifts which is even more bland and boring. Just to see how much hp you can give a zombie and still beat it in time. The foundation was definitely there for something greater. More open world. More RPG. Longer story. Less multiplayer.
D3, WoW. I love Blizzards cinematics! And I enjoy playing their games! WoW is great, D3 is great. But Warcraft 3, boy, the memories! That is and will always be my favorite Blizzard game :)

I honestly don't understand why people say this is a shit game. I think it's amazing, especially compared to other games that don't have very good graphics or a good plot. Granted, I didn't play Diablo 1, as it came out a few months before I was even born, and I haven't played Diablo 2 since I was about 10, when me and my father would play it. I'd love to play Diablo 2 with the LoD expansion again, but I don't have a computer good enough to play on it. Then again, I also played the entire D3 game and the RoS expansion with my two best friends. So even the repetitive dungeons that would sometimes take well over an hour to clear were fun. There's also probably the nostalgia value of the game for me, as one of my two best friends has since passed away, but I'm still able to play the game with her via the character she had..

You simply can't destroy a prime evil, no matter what you do. Demons are spawned from the Black Abyss, and that's where they go when they die. You can actually escape the Black Abyss, and respawn. And even if you do manage to kill an evil permanently, another one with the same goal and purpose will come back, because its the natural order and it must be preserved. If you'd kill the Lord of terror for real, a second one will appear from it.

Did you know: The barbarian you play as in D3 is actually the same guy as the one from D2? It's never shown in game, as the devs realized it would put far too much story emphasis on a single character, though it's still canonical. That badass warrior of the north fought and killed the prime evils twice in his lifetime, watched the shattering of his homeland, and the death of a close friend. Pour one out for Deckard Cain boys, you know the barbarian did.
Diablo takes place in a fantasy world, with the idea being that a primeval being was responsible for creation when he decides to cast off his dark side, but in the process creates two separate beings. Said separate beings make war upon each other until they destroy themselves, the shards of each coalescing to become Angels and Demons in this setting. Though I don't like it, the primary concept is that humans are the magic-starved descendants of humans and angels intermixing with each other who got tired of the eternal conflict that went on since that first battle. So in a sense, the god of this universe is in everyone. Pretty Christian if you ask me.

Not too fond of the use though; it's kind of seen in Darksiders as well, but I feel like it's either misinterpreted or purposefully changed by the devs of said games to try and 'make it look cooler.'
yes, the boss fights. i always feared the dark lords in D2, because they lived up to their names, especially Diablo with his "death-ray". you had to run from them, come up with a strategy and if you didn't pay attention for a second, you would be dead. in D3, all i need to do at a bossfight is press the left mouse button, and hold it. my life regen, and my huge life pool plus enormous damage does the rest. i fear the random "yellow" mobs more, then any of the bosses in D3. a yellow mob on Hell is 500 times harder then Diablo/Prime Evil on Nightmare. i mean, seriously ? o.O
not to forget that D3 boss fights are all in a really small place, while D2 battles were in huge places, for example the Diablo boss fight. you had space to run around, you had REASON to run around. if the places of D2 bossfights were as small as the D3 places, i would never have managed to kill Diablo. NEVER! the boss fights in D3 are just wayyy too arcady (as the rest of the game, but especially the boss fights)
+Palo Kan To this day, D2 Diablo and Duriel are still the most buttcheek clenchingly difficult bosses i have ever faced in a computer game. I'm not sure how, but Diablo in D3 is somehow weaker than D2 Diablo and uses fewer crazy tricks such as Bone Prison blocking town portals (hoy boy was that a massive "OH FU-" moment in D2).
I think its cool how they mixed illustration "cartoon" animation and cgi into the game. In case people think the first 2min is, keep on watching, its amazing what blizzard can do with their rendering cinematics.

Diablo 3 is too WoW for me, too colorful and too happy. Diablo 2 had a better atmosphere, story and charisma. The art director of Diablo 3 has completely denaturalized the game-art.
Mega Giga Bowser D2 has an "horror" feeling: sickness/corruption both physical (e.g.Tal Rasha's body) and mental (e.g. Marius) impregnates D2's world and sadly there is no chance to escape for the simple man (Marius is incapable to elevate himself to the role of hero). This left you disgusted, scared and sad. This feelings pervades the music and the visual art which "sounds" gothic, simple, almost bichromatic and when colors comes into play we have a blood-red or a sickening green or a vomiter-yellow. Also, all the things are represented rotting or decadent. This is not the case of D3, which seems to me settled in a more ordinary high fantasy world, thus, since we don't have the "horror" traits I've mention above, I've described it as "happy". Sure it can be considered incorrect. But I'm not the only one who thinks this, according to diablowiki.net there is a "too colorful" art's controversy, at the point that the designers of the Whimsyshire level decided to make fun of it. Do note that this takes place after Diablo 3 so to the people the fight is over and he'll is defeated. That and it had been 20 year since the last demonic invasion so they had some time to clean up a little so places prospered allowing them to add more color instead of constantly worrying that the demons would return which the main reason most didn't believe deckard when he attempted to warn them the end was coming.
As someone who has played neither 1 nor 2, I don't think it's my place to judge 3 as a Diablo game, but that doesn't bar me from judging it as a game on its own. Sure, the replay value didn't last past two classes for me (once through each, no hard mode), but the first time I played to the end, I felt like a fucking HERO! Sure, you're only really a sidekick to Tyrael and company, but still, those cinematics give me chills to this day. It was great fun while it lasted and I'm glad to got it :)
Diablo 3 is a causal pandering, sideways stepping, pvpless, casual pandering piece of shit. There's no trading system, the pvp was completely absent, meanwhile you can't play offline! Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to make D3 always online, but at the same time remove all of the best online features? In place of that we get a stupid fucking auction house?? Because that's super fun :D You never have to worry about finding good items because the drop rate I so low, just buying them is way more exciting right? PAY2WIN They spent 13 years on this fucking game and didn't take one single step forwards. All they did was "make it more accessible". AKA they ruined it for hardcore fans by causaling it up. I generously consider this a step sideways, but for many it's a step backwards. They completely fuck up the game balancing of D3 to "encourage cooperative play" Which they only want to do in order to make it seem like the fact we always have to play online isn't a completely redundant feature. Honestly after 13 years what have they accomplished? They "improved" the graphics? Okay well in the process they completely changed the graphic style to a more cartoony looking WOWish type, which completely shits all over the darker, depressing, more serious atmosphere that the older games had pulled off better than any game that had come before them. I liked D2 for; the excitement of retrieving my corpse. I liked having limited potion slots with no lazy cool down time system (and actually having to use the potions during my first run of the game, and I liked actually being able to die sometimes which I didn't in D3 until Hell). I loved actually having to you know... LEVEL UP MY OWN CHARACTER! But no D3 does that for you.. and you call it an RPG... a sequel to one of the greatest RPG's of all time... All of these changes were made simply to appeal to a larger audience. In doing so they've ruined something that was special to many others. Had they made no changes at all it would have been a better game. Not saying that there aren't ways of improving upon D2. But NONE of the changes they chose to make improve the experience of the game what so ever. Had this game not been called D3, or have the ridiculous budget it did, it would have been completely ignored by original D2 fans. Fuck Diablo 3.

Idea for Diablo 4: they should ditch the Diablo 3 story and continue where Diablo 2 left off, and that is, the story starts with Deckard Cain, in Diablo 2 you found him hanging in a cage in Tristram, well... I'm sure you wondered how did he get up there, everyone was killed... only 2 were left "alive", Deckard Cain and Griswold (not exactly "alive" but still walking around). So, why did Diablo spare Cain's life? Eh, here is where Diablo 4 story will begin, Deckard Cain is a "spy" for the evil forces, he is there to sabotage the human race, corrupt people, he actually helped the Prime Evil in Diablo 2 but the main protagonist never knew that... untill Diablo 4. The Worldstone is destroyed, so are the Soulstones. They are not needed anyways, Deckard Cain, once part of the Horradrim, now corrupted with evil, manages to revive Diablo and his brothers. What will happen next? Will the player be able to fight him and cleanse him of the evil corruption?

I have several questions: 1. What exactly did the Leah's vision mean exactly? Was it a dream of the past or the future? It doesn't seem to make sense as a premonition, since Tyrael is already a mortal in the game. 2. Why didn't the other members of the Angiris Council try to help Imperius against Diablo? 3. Why didn't Diablo as the Prime Evil just destroy the Council, instead opting to "imprison" Auriel after she was defeated and apparently ignoring Itherael altogether?
Falamu445 Leah's vision is Tyrael showing her how he became mortal. Don't know for 2. For 3, I think the other archangels didn't even see Diablo himself, he just blasted his way straight to the Crystal Arch. She was likely defeated by another group of demons (as powerful as they are, even an archangel can get zerged, I guess).
Actually they did. Leah is the daughter of the hero (from D1) who was under influence of Diablo, and so a part of Diablo's soul was in her. That's why she was overtaken later on (and that's why there was the need of other evil's souls, so Diablo could be reborn stronger), and she turned to the female Diablo. And there's male voice, cause it's the same Diablo, the female model is there because it's Leah's transformed body.

Keely Palmer Really! I always thought live action was more expensive to make, considering you'd be paying for sets, props, make up, cameras, costumes, traveling to locations, actors, stunt doubles, etc. whereas CGI it'd be just voice actors, computers, artists, audio etc.
Then again, I suppose it depends on how much the equipment is and how big everyone's paycheck is supposed to be.

I really enjoyed this game, even though many did not. I appreciated the symbolism in the story line; only humanity can save itself, heavenly beings need not interfere. Something we all need to realize.

Yeah, the gear and character abilities advanced faster than the monster difficulty. One of the bigger game patches gave you a chance to change the difficulty, which I thought was a nice touch. Made it a little more fun.

hes not dead, he opened the gates to pandemonium for for the nephalem, malathiel didnt want to kill the angels, only demon. untill about half way though your fight with him and he decides to eat the fucking soul stone, then he suddenly became Andarial/Durial/Mephisto/Diablo/Baal/Azmodan and Belieal at the same time.....like...... cmon......sure malthiel you want to get rid of demons you say? but then you decide fuck it ill become 7 demons in one, and better yet how about the most filthy demons to ever exsist..... Heee koo koo son thats all i know. (but no he didnt kill imperious, hes immortal if he tried to kill him, he would respawn in heaven super weak in need of rest, thats about it, all the angels that die in the eternal conflict just come right back in heaven again just to be sent off to fight once more. forever, in an eternal conflict

Diablo 3 is amazing
I would have loved it more if it was single player and more story driven. The premise of the story is honestly great. I think it could have been the best game of all time if they hadn't turned it into the usual grindy repetitive RNG-loot multiplayer bs.
I played D3 for a while. Almost a year. But it just becomes too boring. I've come back to it several times over the years. Yet it never captured me for long. It's just the same levels over and over. Heck you don't even get to play the story anymore you play greater rifts which is even more bland and boring. Just to see how much hp you can give a zombie and still beat it in time.
The foundation was definitely there for something greater. More open world. More RPG. Longer story. Less multiplayer.
Damn, the design for the angels, especially imperious looks so nice.
And the demons look like complete brutes, real sweet.

I honestly don't understand why people say this is a shit game. I think it's amazing, especially compared to other games that don't have very good graphics or a good plot. Granted, I didn't play Diablo 1, as it came out a few months before I was even born, and I haven't played Diablo 2 since I was about 10, when me and my father would play it. I'd love to play Diablo 2 with the LoD expansion again, but I don't have a computer good enough to play on it.
Then again, I also played the entire D3 game and the RoS expansion with my two best friends. So even the repetitive dungeons that would sometimes take well over an hour to clear were fun. There's also probably the nostalgia value of the game for me, as one of my two best friends has since passed away, but I'm still able to play the game with her via the character she had..

Don't forget, you must go to the Hellforge to destroy a Prime Evil permanently or it will repeatedly return as a crystal who will wait for its vessel.
You simply can't destroy a prime evil, no matter what you do.
Demons are spawned from the Black Abyss, and that's where they go when they die. You can actually escape the Black Abyss, and respawn.
And even if you do manage to kill an evil permanently, another one with the same goal and purpose will come back, because its the natural order and it must be preserved. If you'd kill the Lord of terror for real, a second one will appear from it.

Did you know: The barbarian you play as in D3 is actually the same guy as the one from D2? It's never shown in game, as the devs realized it would put far too much story emphasis on a single character, though it's still canonical. That badass warrior of the north fought and killed the prime evils twice in his lifetime, watched the shattering of his homeland, and the death of a close friend. Pour one out for Deckard Cain boys, you know the barbarian did.

Diablo takes place in a fantasy world, with the idea being that a primeval being was responsible for creation when he decides to cast off his dark side, but in the process creates two separate beings. Said separate beings make war upon each other until they destroy themselves, the shards of each coalescing to become Angels and Demons in this setting.
Though I don't like it, the primary concept is that humans are the magic-starved descendants of humans and angels intermixing with each other who got tired of the eternal conflict that went on since that first battle. So in a sense, the god of this universe is in everyone. Pretty Christian if you ask me.

By the way is that how it's spelled in the game? The traditional spelling is Nephalim, wasn't sure if they changed that. Not too fond of the use though; it's kind of seen in Darksiders as well, but I feel like it's either misinterpreted or purposefully changed by the devs of said games to try and 'make it look cooler.'

Compared to d2, there is something i believe is missing from d3
yes, the boss fights. i always feared the dark lords in D2, because they lived up to their names, especially Diablo with his "death-ray". you had to run from them, come up with a strategy and if you didn't pay attention for a second, you would be dead.
in D3, all i need to do at a bossfight is press the left mouse button, and hold it. my life regen, and my huge life pool plus enormous damage does the rest. i fear the random "yellow" mobs more, then any of the bosses in D3. a yellow mob on Hell is 500 times harder then Diablo/Prime Evil on Nightmare. i mean, seriously ? o.O
not to forget that D3 boss fights are all in a really small place, while D2 battles were in huge places, for example the Diablo boss fight. you had space to run around, you had REASON to run around. if the places of D2 bossfights were as small as the D3 places, i would never have managed to kill Diablo. NEVER!
the boss fights in D3 are just wayyy too arcady (as the rest of the game, but especially the boss fights)
i suppose it means that the Player is no longer just a human but a Nephilem/Nephalem

To this day, D2 Diablo and Duriel are still the most buttcheek clenchingly difficult bosses i have ever faced in a computer game. I'm not sure how, but Diablo in D3 is somehow weaker than D2 Diablo and uses fewer crazy tricks such as Bone Prison blocking town portals (hoy boy was that a massive "OH FU-" moment in D2).
I think its cool how they mixed illustration "cartoon" animation and cgi into the game. In case people think the first 2min is, keep on watching, its amazing what blizzard can do with their rendering cinematics.

Diablo 3 is too WoW for me, too colorful and too happy. Diablo 2 had a better atmosphere, story and charisma. The art director of Diablo 3 has completely denaturalized the game-art.

Mega Giga Bowser D2 has an "horror" feeling: sickness/corruption both physical (e.g.Tal Rasha's body) and mental (e.g. Marius) impregnates D2's world and sadly there is no chance to escape for the simple man (Marius is incapable to elevate himself to the role of hero). This left you disgusted, scared and sad.
This feelings pervades the music and the visual art which "sounds" gothic, simple, almost bichromatic and when colors comes into play we have a blood-red or a sickening green or a vomiter-yellow. Also, all the things are represented rotting or decadent.
This is not the case of D3, which seems to me settled in a more ordinary high fantasy world, thus, since we don't have the "horror" traits I've mention above, I've described it as "happy". Sure it can be considered incorrect.
But I'm not the only one who thinks this, according to diablowiki.net there is a "too colorful" art's controversy, at the point that the designers of the Whimsyshire level decided to make fun of it.

Do note that this takes place after Diablo 3 so to the people the fight is over and he'll is defeated. That and it had been 20 year since the last demonic invasion so they had some time to clean up a little so places prospered allowing them to add more color instead of constantly worrying that the demons would return which the main reason most didn't believe deckard when he attempted to warn them the end was coming.
As someone who has played neither 1 nor 2, I don't think it's my place to judge 3 as a Diablo game, but that doesn't bar me from judging it as a game on its own.
Sure, the replay value didn't last past two classes for me (once through each, no hard mode), but the first time I played to the end, I felt like a fucking HERO! Sure, you're only really a sidekick to Tyrael and company, but still, those cinematics give me chills to this day. It was great fun while it lasted and I'm glad to got it :)
Diablo 3 is a causal pandering, sideways stepping, pvpless, casual pandering piece of shit.
There's no trading system, the pvp was completely absent, meanwhile you can't play offline! Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to make D3 always online, but at the same time remove all of the best online features? In place of that we get a stupid fucking auction house?? Because that's super fun :D You never have to worry about finding good items because the drop rate I so low, just buying them is way more exciting right? PAY2WIN
They spent 13 years on this fucking game and didn't take one single step forwards. All they did was "make it more accessible". AKA they ruined it for hardcore fans by causaling it up. I generously consider this a step sideways, but for many it's a step backwards. They completely fuck up the game balancing of D3 to "encourage cooperative play" Which they only want to do in order to make it seem like the fact we always have to play online isn't a completely redundant feature.
Honestly after 13 years what have they accomplished? They "improved" the graphics? Okay well in the process they completely changed the graphic style to a more cartoony looking WOWish type, which completely shits all over the darker, depressing, more serious atmosphere that the older games had pulled off better than any game that had come before them.
I liked D2 for; the excitement of retrieving my corpse. I liked having limited potion slots with no lazy cool down time system (and actually having to use the potions during my first run of the game, and I liked actually being able to die sometimes which I didn't in D3 until Hell). I loved actually having to you know... LEVEL UP MY OWN CHARACTER! But no D3 does that for you.. and you call it an RPG... a sequel to one of the greatest RPG's of all time...
All of these changes were made simply to appeal to a larger audience. In doing so they've ruined something that was special to many others. Had they made no changes at all it would have been a better game. Not saying that there aren't ways of improving upon D2. But NONE of the changes they chose to make improve the experience of the game what so ever. Had this game not been called D3, or have the ridiculous budget it did, it would have been completely ignored by original D2 fans. Fuck Diablo 3.
If i agree or not isn't important. I wanna give you some acknowledgement for taking your time to not only express, but also argue and substantiate your opinion about the game. If everybody did this, we would be able to have a much better discussion about the game! Thank you.

Idea for Diablo 4: they should ditch the Diablo 3 story and continue where Diablo 2 left off, and that is, the story starts with Deckard Cain, in Diablo 2 you found him hanging in a cage in Tristram, well... I'm sure you wondered how did he get up there, everyone was killed... only 2 were left "alive", Deckard Cain and Griswold (not exactly "alive" but still walking around). So, why did Diablo spare Cain's life? Eh, here is where Diablo 4 story will begin, Deckard Cain is a "spy" for the evil forces, he is there to sabotage the human race, corrupt people, he actually helped the Prime Evil in Diablo 2 but the main protagonist never knew that... untill Diablo 4. The Worldstone is destroyed, so are the Soulstones. They are not needed anyways, Deckard Cain, once part of the Horradrim, now corrupted with evil, manages to revive Diablo and his brothers. What will happen next? Will the player be able to fight him and cleanse him of the evil corruption?

I have several questions:
1. What exactly did the Leah's vision mean exactly? Was it a dream of the past or the future? It doesn't seem to make sense as a premonition, since Tyrael is already a mortal in the game.
2. Why didn't the other members of the Angiris Council try to help Imperius against Diablo?
3. Why didn't Diablo as the Prime Evil just destroy the Council, instead opting to "imprison" Auriel after she was defeated and apparently ignoring Itherael altogether?
Falamu445 Leah's vision is Tyrael showing her how he became mortal. Don't know for 2. For 3, I think the other archangels didn't even see Diablo himself, he just blasted his way straight to the Crystal Arch. She was likely defeated by another group of demons (as powerful as they are, even an archangel can get zerged, I guess).
Actually they did. Leah is the daughter of the hero (from D1) who was under influence of Diablo, and so a part of Diablo's soul was in her. That's why she was overtaken later on (and that's why there was the need of other evil's souls, so Diablo could be reborn stronger), and she turned to the female Diablo. And there's male voice, cause it's the same Diablo, the female model is there because it's Leah's transformed body.

It does leave it open for the expansion: 1) The Black Soulstone was not destroyed, 2) Imperius is still alive (and probably pissed).
