This is definitely one of those games that works better with just the cutscenes. The gameplay would get too cumbersome. As always, Blizzard did an amazing job with their storytelling. For this game movie we used the Demon Hunter, but we will also be posting all the different character stories in one video. This includes the story from the base game as well as from the expansion "Reaper of Souls."
The game takes place in Sanctuary, the dark fantasy world of the Diablo series, twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Deckard Cain and Leah are in Tristram Cathedral (the same cathedral that was the setting of Diablo) investigating ancient texts regarding an ominous prophecy. A mysterious star falling from the sky strikes the Cathedral, creating a deep crater into which Deckard Cain disappears.

Will you ever be doing a version showing not just the cut scenes but also all the important dialogues related to the main story line? I think only showing the cut scenes don't really do it justice, and feel like more of a compilation of cut scenes instead of a game movie to me.

Did anyone notice in 7:32 to 7:35 that there were 5 streaks of falling stars during Tyrael's sacrifice? The other one was small and not very obvious. It is on the upper right of the group. What could that be? Could it be Tyrael's armor shard? Tyrael's wings?

@@shawtyzo1498 cutscenes of diablo games are prerendered and have nothing to do with the pc's specs, if a pc can run youtube then it can run cutscenes.
Although it is true (atleast according to me) that diablo 4's cutscenes are way more detailed.
Diablo came 3 times in a row in the game sequel, but the Diablo IV is just Epic 2020

I honestly don’t even like this game that much but I come back every few years to watch the scene when Leah turns into Diablo; it’s just so perfectly done, it must’ve left a big impression on me because it’s literally the only thing I like about Diablo 3

blizzard was so laze with this games plot and its cutscenes...
It really feels like the dev team was at odds when picking an art style and tone, you have darker more in line with diablo characters like azmodan and imperius but then loony tunes looking characters like maghda and this skinny diablo exist. Its weird.

so I do wonder how our D3 Hero will be a character in D4 i really hope they are cause that was a very annoying factor of D3 literally your D2 champion just vanishes. While Diablo 2 your D1 hero was very important lol.
Diablo 4 is set many, many years after the events of Diablo 3. At least several decades. It is likely there will be references to Diablo 3's characters, but doubtful that they'll play any prominent role in the story.
There are a plethora of mentions of D2 characters in D3. When you go to the Pandemonium Fortress in Act 5, just before you fight Malthael, you can speak with the ghosts of D2's characters. There are lore references to them all over the game as well. Remember, D3 was set 20 years after D2. D2 was set very shortly after D1 - within months to a year. Our characters are mortals; lorewise, they would be aged and retired, if still alive - so of little value to the overall storyline.
Someone obviously wasn't paying attention during the game.
There are several mentions and the delevopers even made seperate stories to them. As an example the rogue went to build an army against the demons with the rest of her clan and the sorcerer thaught D3's charachter Li Ming how to master sorcery. Even the Diablo 1 characthers have background stories as well as mentions. We even fight the rogue in Act 1 who became a demon herself and the portal in Lut Gholein was caused by the sorcerer in the harems. So you just have to read and search for these stories. I hope our nephalem will return in D4 if they toss the idea away I will be furious clearly the nephalem is the only hope to end the eternal conflict and to stop Lilith if she is the villain in D4.
I would clearly join her because she is the 1 with the angel who created sanctuary and the human race and views them as their childrens but Blizzard would not allow it to happen I think.
@@ThePaprika277 Blizzard is retreating from the nephalem concept. As you can see with the D4 characters, they're back to more mortal-like characters. The nephalem were becoming stupid overpowered. This game is set many, many years later. At this point, the nephalem are likely in their old, retired years, or they're dead.

@@nathanalexandre9043 I see you're judging cinematics by their CGI quality, rather than their storytelling and atmosphere. That's a pretty poor critiquing skill you have there. Diablo 2's cinematics destroy Diablo 3's and this is a majority opinion.
You can have the best looking skin textures and explosions on screen, but it doesn't mean shit if the game sucks and the story blows.

I came to realize late the reason why they make evil so powerful in games and rpg, is so the player can transcend even heaven and end up setting a new bar on what power is.
There are a lot of quality games out there. I only came to this video to see the cutscenes; it was the one thing Blizzard did competently. Well, in fact. I advise you to look elsewhere for a good game; Blizzard graphics have always been years behind their competition, and now even their CGI is unsatisfactory. For a company as wealthy as Blizzard to begin a game with cheap pseudo-animation is an insult to their customers. For a company that had a reputation for at least getting that part of the game right, it is an insult to themselves.
Chris Jones blizzard graphics aren't "behind" they are stylized... No everything needs to look so realistic that you can count every blade of grass in the game

You used stylized twice in the same sentence. That can't be good. Maybe You should play other games too, You'd know they (Blizzard) cannot hold a candle to other games graphic-wise. I realize it's an rpg (at least by name), but story is still linear, so it wouldn't require much more work (money) all things considering.
Calm down edge lords it's a stylistic choice as per the lore of the universe. Diablo, Imperious, and the other angels and demons were for the most part tales within the universe and never actually seen in world which is why people like Leah doubted they even existed at all. The "pseudo-cutscenes" were meant to be retells of the current story and those that would be passed down for generations. This would give weight for when the cutscenes were fully rendered because it was *actually* happening then, and when the cgi came through it did not disappoint as they could dump all the money into those scenes instead of stretching it out over the entire game.
Context means just as much as the visual representation when telling a good story. Go back to CoD if graphics are all you care about ya douche

Compared to Diablo 2’s incredibly immersive storytelling…this is…mid as all hell.
barf ; this game was such an embarrassing pile of cringe =/ ; a dark mark on the legacy of Diablo ; thank the gods for Path of Exile and Grinding Gear Games ; even if Diablo 4 'redeems' the franchise, they can never make this abomination go away and in the meantime PoE/GGG will continue to carry the torch and pave the way for the future
