I'd honestly really love to see a video on how to intuitively eat when you intuitively don't eat alot of veggies. Lol I like veggies, but not as a main course or for everyday.
I absolutely love and appreciate the more compassionate approach you’ve taken in your recent videos! You have been the key figure in helping me heal from orthorexia and ED. Before in your videos, I would feel personally shaded when you would put down diet culture since it was something I ignorantly partook in. You are developing amazing communication skills to maintain compassion for the person while setting the record straight on the information. Love it and thank you for all you’ve done to help in my relationship with food ♥️
Great video Abbey! As usual. As a Healthcare provider I greatly appreciate your candor and topics. I am all for healthy eating - as long as it is actually "healthy", factoring in comorbidities, fitness, and maintainability! I agree that individuals should speak with their Healthcare provider or dietician to ensure they are meeting their specific nutritional needs 💕💕💕
Not sure if you still want a recipe, but I have a soup that I like making in batches for freezing/canning. If you freeze anything make sure you don't fill it all the way because water expands when it is frozen. It's a vegan recipe but I'm not vegan. So a huge saucepan. 5 yellow potatoes w/skin. 1 leek. 2 cups of red split lentils. One standard container of vegetable broth. Some salt. I cook the lentils first in water and then add everything else. I keep the potatoes cut really small and after its boiling let it simmer for like an hour and a half, but do whatever feels right.
Love how you broke down intuitive eating. I have struggled hard with my relationship with food and your idea to approach serving sizes analytically without the blame or guilt is so helpful and freeing. Thank you!
Brownie granola! Okay that sounds great! I like that these meals actually look tasty--not boring. Yeah have been trying to eat more plant based protein, but I still eat meat and also a lot of seafood. No big rules.
Giving Jazmin's background with an eating disorder, her current way of eating only "healthy", whole foods has strong orthorexic tendencies. It doesn't look like "food freedom" but rather obsessive clean eating. Living a fully recovered life includes eating processed foods on a reg as well and letting go of food rules. I'm struggling with a restrictive ED myself and I'm nowhere near food freedom so I can speak from my own miserable experience, unfortunately.
I get that. But I think she’s eating clean because she was raised that way and it makes her feel better. Maybe it’s a combo of both. I love junk but feel so much better mentally and physically when I eat clean.
She does eat refined sugar in some of her videos. I think she makes “healthy” versions of foods because she eats these foods on a daily basis and wants to make them more nutritious. If that’s what balance looks like for her, that’s great. For other people, balance might look like eating nutritious meals but also consuming a dessert that isn’t made with “healthy” ingredients every day. I rlly don’t think she has orthorexic tendencies, I think she actually has a healthy relationship with food.
While still learning what "intuitive eating" actually means, i wonder whether my grandmother (89) has always been eating intuitively throughout her life. She may be one of the many people surrounds me (including mum) who has been a great example of intuitive eaters (in my opinion). They have never count calories (believe me, they 100% dont or even know what "calories" mean), they always stays in shape and looks healthy (and looks much younger than their actual age!). Having said this i m sure they dont just eat whatever looks good and feel good. They look after what they eat and good for their health "intuitively" without worry so much about counting macros and looks. I think the term of "intuitive eating" was born out of diet culture that we live in. In the olden days, people work hard, eat what they can find and be thankful they could eat and live. Just saying.
Hi Abbey! Would you ever consider making a video that revolves around someone who is a Type 1 Diabetic? I'm T1 (going on 30 years!) and I would love to know your opinions on eating a healthy, intuitive, balanced diet while living with a chronic illness that is based around managing blood sugar levels and being ultra aware of everything that goes into your body. I know there are a handful of T1 RUclipsrs out there that do "What I Eat in a Day" videos. From my personal journey, I have found that living with a chronic illness such as T1D has made me much more susceptible to developing disordered eating patterns. I have struggled with this for most of my life, in various ways, but am happy to say that I am currently managing my blood sugars as best as I can while eating (what I think) is a pretty healthy diet. I know this might not relate to all your viewers, but I'm curious as to how having a chronic illness (T1D or others) centered heavily around food would influence your opinions. Would love to know your thoughts and see something like this on your channel. Thanks!
I just watched your video on Chloe Ting! Loved how you brought into consideration her own dietary needs based on a condition she suffers from. This was very insightful and I would love to see more of these videos for other food sensitive illnesses. Thanks Abbey!
I love her and her videos but it is always kind of triggering to see someone say they are “obsessed” with having a healthy lifestyle idk if it is just me 🤷♀️
You put to words what I always feel about her. I mean, I love her videos, don't get me wrong, but as someone who was orthorexic for a long time, I find it kind of triggering (I know that isn't her intention). Also, just her meals generally seem very "diety" to me (again, not her intention, it's her life and how she lives it, but just what I feel).
Loved this! My favorite part of this video was when you were discussing how one can gague the amount of food they need without judgement. As someone who used to struggle with judging myself over the portions I need, it's still very difficult! So it was a nice reminder that it's okay to have seconds, or not, and that I can start with a certain amount and there will always be more if I'm still hungry.
Abbey, you are killing it with uploading videos so often!! Love it Also as someone who is going to school for a nutrition based career, I love watching your videos to learn educated information!!
Looks a little too textbook perfect to be totally intuitive but her meals look satisfying and balanced ! Would more smacks and extra fat in her meals be optimal ? Probably but if most of her outfits are tight and unforgiving half shirts its probably safe to say that she is at least partially esthetically motivated .
All food is a privilege. We are so lucky to be able to eat safe nutritious food. Lots of people aren’t so fortunate. My favourite thing is watching a baby eat, trying new things for the very first time, totally fresh without all the BS they’ll be bombarded with later on. The enthusiasm and pure delight and the way they seem to know what they need-over a week rather than obsessing over each meal.
Omg I’m watching this video and my dog is all over me, trying to lick the phone, laying on my head and I realized it’s because you said the word “treat” a bunch of times !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Honestly to me it is very clear that this girl still has a restrictive mindset around food. I’m sure it’s not as restrictive as it once was, but she is still in it. Hopefully as she gets older and wiser she will realize this and continue to break her food rules but there are still major issues with the way she speaks about food, in my opinion.
this is super random but... as a Brazilian hearing brigadeiro be described as a mousse doesn't feel right lol it's more like a caramel meets fudge type of texture and it's SO GOOD (and easy), everyone should try it out sometime! I'll actually leave the recipe below since I've memorised it: 1 can of sweetened condenser milk 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder (preferably a less sweet one but DONT USE 100%) 1 spoon of butter mix everything continuously over medium/low heat, until you can see the bottom of the pot for 2-3 seconds when dragging a spatula through
So much love for your content. Every time I make a meal or snack I think about how Abbey would review it - and not in a bad or restrictive way. If I have my blueberry Eggo waffles in the morning (I'm a big kid at heart) I will think to myself - how can I bulk up the nutrition and I will add nut butter, hemp seeds and fruit in addition to the maple syrup of course. If I have an "off day" of eating because I feel lazy or just want to eat things that are emotionally satisfying, I don't let it define me or punish myself. Thank you for changing our relationship with food one video at a time!!
I’ve struggled with disordered eating for 3 years and the start of 2021 was also the start of my recovery journey. Your videos have helped inform me so much on the do’s & don’ts of eating healthy and moderately again. I now feel like I have finally reached my balance and can finally be happy again! Thank you for being a small part of my support system! ❤️
Another great video. I was wondering if you could do a video on ageing and how that affects our appetites and that sort of thing. Also could you make a video or share your tips on smart portion sizes. Obviously this is mostly subjective but what do you recommend. I’ve seen half the plate of veggies and a fist of protein or is it knuckles of protein and then carbs. But my question and struggle is…. How big is the plate? I’m struggles with portion sizing right now and it’s really bringing me down and I hope you could offer some help since I’m assuming a lot of your audience struggle with this too whether it’s larger or smaller portions. I’m afraid I’ve overstretched my stomach and I’m used to large/ “abnormally” large portions and now I just feel dissatisfied with smaller portions even though they’re calorically dense. I have had a history of “vegetable loading” and I’m trying to make some positive changes. :)
Hey, Abbey! Thank you so much for your content. I only stumbled across your videos recently but I was instantly in love with how you approach food. It’s exactly what I need right now. I like her channel because I used to eat high carb, low fat vegan and have always been afraid to incorporate fat into my diet even though I really need to. Whenever I need inspiration to lose my fear I watch her channel.
It’s been hovering around 31 C I've been living on Cheerios, strawberry and silken tofu smoothies and enormous Niçoise salads, occasionally supplemented by ice cream, takeout sushi and takeout pizza. It’s too damned hot to cook. (I'd love to have Jazmin's meatloaf recipe, though. That looks good.)
Abbey, I really appreciate your comments at 6:30 about everyone having different veggie and fiber tolerance. I have IBS and have done the Low FODMAP elimination diet which has, thankfully, taught me about FODMAP loads and how to manage my symptoms and triggers (I can even eat a little garlic and onions now, too!). I am doing my best and find cooked veg better, and even though I should be able to feel validated by how happy my body feels, it is always refreshing to hear an expert say it as well. I just wanted to pass along the appreciation!
Wow I paused the video to write something about veganism. Then I thought I wasn't sure how to word it without sounding rude. Then I pressed play and you said exactly what I was gonna write! That was crazy! I love your videos by the way!
@@AbbeysKitchen no no! Not at all. You did a better job at explaining it than I would have 🖤 I think you are very considerate and always do your best to make everybody comfortable.

@@iremm.875 yes, You are absolutely right about her statement that her daily eating habits are irrelevamt for others but I know many young girls follow her and get inspired by her. Maybe not reviewing a one exact day but after watching few of her stories/reels, you can really tell what she's consuming. The biggest problem I am concerned about is that she states she is recovered from an ED but I just never see her eating any sort of fats. I'd honestly really love to see a video on how to intuitively eat when you intuitively don't eat alot of veggies. Lol I like veggies, but not as a main course or for everyday.
I will put this on my list to discuss!
same honestly
I absolutely love and appreciate the more compassionate approach you’ve taken in your recent videos! You have been the key figure in helping me heal from orthorexia and ED. Before in your videos, I would feel personally shaded when you would put down diet culture since it was something I ignorantly partook in. You are developing amazing communication skills to maintain compassion for the person while setting the record straight on the information. Love it and thank you for all you’ve done to help in my relationship with food ♥️
Thank you for sharing! I'm so glad my videos have been helpful for you ❤️
Could you possibly review Halle Burns? She is vegan and seems to have a great relationship with food.
Yesss
On my list!
i need this 😩
YES
Great video Abbey! As usual. As a Healthcare provider I greatly appreciate your candor and topics. I am all for healthy eating - as long as it is actually "healthy", factoring in comorbidities, fitness, and maintainability! I agree that individuals should speak with their Healthcare provider or dietician to ensure they are meeting their specific nutritional needs 💕💕💕
Aw thank you! I'm so glad it's helpful ❤️
Could you do cheap healthy meals especially for college students?
I’ll put this on my list to discuss!
Thank you!
I'm so glad that was helpful!
Brownie granola! Okay that sounds great! I like that these meals actually look tasty--not boring. Yeah have been trying to eat more plant based protein, but I still eat meat and also a lot of seafood. No big rules.
For sure!
For sure, that's very interesting. Thank you for sharing!
Yess... If there wasn't diet culture, intuitive eating would be just eating. I saw these words recently and it's so true!
Thanks! For me, this video really summarized and explained how to eat intuitively, and I think Abbey gave a lot of good advice.
Thanks!
Eeeeep so excited!!! Always perfect timing!!!

@@aneezabilal4503 yes exactly! Her meals are very “perfect” which isn’t a bad thing ofc
I totally understand that this can be triggering
i’ve been waiting for this one forever!!!!!!!
I hope you enjoyed it!
God her shopping bill must be insane, but her meals look really good, that ago toast with eggs and spinach is a go to weekend brekkie for me.
It looks great!
For sure! Glad that was helpful
Her recipes always look awesome and she just released a recipe ebook too! The timing for your review was great XD
Abbey, you are killing it with uploading videos so often!! Love it
Also as someone who is going to school for a nutrition based career, I love watching your videos to learn educated information!!
Thank you, I'm so glad!
That’s how she grew up , her parents eat like that and that’s what they were taught . Processed food isn’t necessary in everyone’s life
I was waiting for this one! Can’t wait to watch it! Love your channel! You are just so amazing, and you can see that you love what you do!
Aw thank you!
If my meal has a protein, carb, and fruit or veggie, I’m all set
Jazmine is my absolute favorite person on RUclips! I’m excited to see what you have to say about her
I hope it's helpful!

Omg I’m watching this video and my dog is all over me, trying to lick the phone, laying on my head and I realized it’s because you said the word “treat” a bunch of times !!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
Thank you for posting a kind review. Especially because Jazmin is such a positive influence and I think she is definitely open to learning.
I'm glad it was helpful!
Agreed
I'm so glad I came across your videos. They have helped me SO MUCH in my journey to get over my orthorexia. 🧡🧡🧡
Hey Abbey, it would be amazing if you could react to what Olivia Rouyre eats in a day, or Elie Thumann xx love the vids!
Both are on my list!
this is super random but... as a Brazilian hearing brigadeiro be described as a mousse doesn't feel right lol it's more like a caramel meets fudge type of texture and it's SO GOOD (and easy), everyone should try it out sometime! I'll actually leave the recipe below since I've memorised it:
1 can of sweetened condenser milk
3 tablespoons of cocoa powder (preferably a less sweet one but DONT USE 100%)
1 spoon of butter
mix everything continuously over medium/low heat, until you can see the bottom of the pot for 2-3 seconds when dragging a spatula through
I actually thought the same thing! I have had those balls and omg they’re insanely good
Thanks for posting this!
THIS IS GONNA BE GOOOOOODD!! I love her videos so much!! She seems so balanced and such a bundle of joy!! So happy to hear you talking about her!😊❤️❤️

I will put this on my list to discuss!
Hey, Abbey!
Thank you so much for your content. I only stumbled across your videos recently but I was instantly in love with how you approach food. It’s exactly what I need right now.
