As someone who has celiac disease, thank you for the gluten free comment! I’d never recommend it to anyone if they don’t struggle with an allergy or intolerance. It can make you intolerant over time if you eat that lifestyle long enough!!! I know someone who did this to herself 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • @rachelmaddowswife8713
      @rachelmaddowswife8713 8 месяцев назад

@@maryssa8593 That's not true. I (who also have celiac) don't know why your particular friend developed the disease, many of us develop it randomly as adults, but studies show that actually the more gluten you eat the more likely you are to develop it. They think this is why the prevalence is higher in some countries even when you control for genetics.
That said, I'd also recommend that people who don't need things like gluten free baked goods avoid them, because they're more expensive, often don't taste as good, and often have more calories than the original wheat version.

Promoting a healthy, "detox" lifestyle and having a glass of wine regularly, considering alcohol is neurotoxic, even if it is such a small amount, seems to be a little ridiculous. If your body is strong enough to cope with a glass of wine, it is strong enough to handle a cookie, I think. And to leave away the celery juice.

OMG! I met Julianne Hough at a CVS on La Brea (West Hollywood), in July 2014. It was close to midnight, and I was there with 3 friends purchasing snack food and drinks after dining down the road at Nobu (we had spent $60 each and were still hungry!). She was there with her assistant getting Cheetos/chips/cookies/sugary stuff as they OBVIOUSLY had the munchies... How do I know? They were giggling uncontrollably and about to get to the register when this big guy basically shoved them out of his way and took their place with the cashier... my friends and I started joking around with them as we had witnessed this rude guy and we continued chatting for quite a while. They were obviously red-eyed stoned but really lovely and chatty. Why am I bothering to type this? Because this "wellness" bs is a far cry from the Julianne I met that day and I don't buy her wellness shtick for a second! The girl was truthful when she said she loves flour, sugar, etc... she opened a package of chips ahoy and stuffed her face before she even reached her SUV in the parking lot!!! PS: Back then, I was the ONLY one who recognized her (Footloose).

I have endometriosis. You need a balanced diet and to be careful with overall glycemic load of food - which makes that butternut squash soup without protein a no no. Endometriosis has little to do with specific foods and more the overall balance of each meal. Alcohol without some protein or carb for absorption is a recipe for cramps.

    • @ellegraph4740

As someone else who has endometriosis, it is advised that we stay away from coffee and problematic, triggering foods. Because of this, for me, coffee is a treat too. I am with Julianne, that having a cookie might actually cause a flare that inhibits her functioning that day. Clearly Abby was way uninformed about all of these things and chose a hyper-judge mental route. This is a topic she knows nothing about and it shows.

Excess estrogen is also the reason for the early onset of menstruation in pre-pubescent girls, increased menstrual flow/cramps/pain/headaches, infertility, and higher incidence of endo and pcos.

Hi Abbey, I just wanted to leave a comment on what you say about dosha's being "personality traits." That is AN element of it, but its not the only one. I wish people would stop getting their information on Ayurveda from celebrities like Julianne and Gwynneth Paltrow! I am currently in training to be a practitioner and it is in essence is a holistic, practical approach to food and the one which has helped me to heal my relationship with food. The way I have been taught is to not pay attention to "what food to eat for your dosha" unless experiencing discomfort. Instead we are supposed to eat seasonally and according to our own intuition.
We are also taught to include food of ALL tastes into one meal, protein, a bitter vegetable, a sweet vegetable and grains, cooked in ghee or olive oil (hunger crushing combo).
So kindly, please refrain from comparing it to western science or research. Its not the same, its mind/body and spiritually focused 🙏🏼
Also warming foods are not specifically recommended for Vata dosha, its seasonal and dependent on the time of year. Sorry for the ramble but I get a little bit miffed sometimes. As a Punjabi, the practices of our indigenous cultures often get poo pooed by western medicine and science only for them to then appropriate it later.

I just assumed that Julianne might struggle with some form of generalized anxiety or depression, that is triggered and worsened by the sudden high caffeine content in coffee. Which is the case for two of my friends, one to this day does not drink coffee because it unhealthy ramps up her anxiety and the other one only drinks in moderation. I dont know but in this video you kinda came across as a bit of a bully towards Julianne, and as someone who follows a whole food diet because of IBS (I'm allergic to Fructans like onions/garlic so that gets rid of the majority of processed foods). I totally agree, not to mention some of the stuff Abbey says is very nit picky and comes across as being a bit aggressive. if I was an influencer I would probably not put my diet out there for the fear of being picked apart by these kinds of videos

Agreed, this was so judgmental… Shr always tears people apart who choose to eat healthy foods, and then got mad when she said she enjoys unhealthy things in moderation. Like, isn’t that what you want from people as RD? For people to at least eat mostly healthy and have the capacity to enjoy “bad” foods without it consuming your life or ruining your health? The whole world would be better off. It’s the way I prefer to eat so that I feel my best, and I know my body will thank me as I age.

She makes videos with an opinion... and speaks truthfully but with some character about what she sees. If she didn’t highlight the glaring shortcomings of these diets, she would be neglecting her personal and professional duty, and possibly endorsing unhealthy eating to those who are susceptible to such messages.

Just last night I had one of my favorite “liquid desserts”-a chocolate milkshake 😋 I also like to drink a small glass of homemade sweet tea every night to get that sugar fix-that really does help prevent me from eating an entire grocery-store-sized bag of skittles by myself in 1-2 days, as I was wont to do before. Most studies actually show that a well balanced diet with all food groups are most optimal for treating endometriosis, whereas her video is quite restrictive and contradicting. Celery juice, lemon water and apple cider vinegar being a few of many broscience fads with no good evidence to back up their benefits with endometriosis treatment. As Abbey pointed out, she is very active as a dancer and should probably add more protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats to help increase her calorie content.

@@chadrandazzo2305 Everybody and every body is different if this works for her, good, I am not loving this comment section full of hate just bcs of someone else's diet. Again, I am sure this has something to do with her medical condition. Protein or not has zero to do with someone's athletic of active abilities, Novak Djokovic is the best tennis player in the world (right now) and eats plant based super restrictive diet❤️🎾.
I am not a vegan nor I am a lemon water freak but sometimes I wish a content creator would do a research before filming a video...that's all.

I get where she's coming from with health from the inside out. You never know what people are going through - - I used to laugh at people who were holding to "arbitrary" diet standards, and then my doctor suggested I try eliminating gluten, dairy, and sugar from my diet to aid with my severe Bipolar 1 disorder (in combination with medication and therapy of course). It's made a huge difference and while some days I do crave a cookie, I know that I will overall be best served by sticking to my boundaries, even though I'm not strictly intolerant or allergic and other people might roll their eyes. At the end of the day, what matters is that I'm happy and healthy, not what other people think, and I'll hold the same space for her. Except for the celery juice 🤣🤢

Yeah totally! But usually these “influencers” eat like that only to be/stay skinny. They don’t do it for mental health reasons. And most of people on these “What ___ Eats in a Day” videos, just don’t have enough food for a day...

Eliminating added sugar is good in GENERAL for health. But gluten-free for bipolar disorder? No. No reliable research on that. I would fire that doctor.

    • @earthstar7534

@@theywalkinguptoyouand4060 she says it has made a significant difference. There is a ton of research about the impact of diet on both psychological and physiological diseases. A doctor who is exploring other causes and treatments than just pharmaceuticals is a good doctor. Not saying pharmaceuticals are bad, but diseases are treated and caused by lifestyle and diet habits all the time.
Also, you are just plain incorrect about the diet thing. At the end of that article there are peer reviewed studies to support OPs doctors recommendations
