Her being European has some influence on that. Europe generally has a very different attitude toward food than North America, and in my opinion, much healthier.
CZJ saying "If I'm REALLY good..." and us getting all ready to hear some food moralizing and her following that with "I've already baked scones" is the best plot twist of 2021
Good to hear that her idea of a treat is not just one lonely chocolate nut. Her enthusiasm for eating makes me want to be invited to her house. Everything sounds yummy.
The scone comment, it definitely seemed to me that she was using "good" to mean organized to have them ready to go when she wants to eat them. So that way she can have the homemade scones she wants rather than a snack she's less excited about
@Katie A no she just wants to cover all bases and make sure she is calling out anything that may be harmful to her followers. She is diligent and thoughtful and I appreciate her and her efforts very much.
@Katie A I don't know who you are and am not chasing anything. Also "sucking up" to a RUclipsr makes no sense. What a really odd way to respond to what I said.
This is my favourite What the celebrity eat till now. Even if I am vegan and I don't eat animal products it's refreshing to hear that some celebrities doesn't demonize some foods and truly enjoy eating .
She definitely meant that if she's really good and on her A game, she's already remembered to get her scones ready for her tea! Just wanna point that out! When I listened to it the first time I was like... "wait, what? Nooooo not you too, Catherine Zeta Jones!". But when I heard it again, it sounded like she definitely meant that if she remembered to make the scones ahead of time, then she's all good and organized.
This made me like Catherine even more than I did before. Nice to know she's so down to earth when it comes to nutrition. I mean, for someone who has access to a lot of incredible ingredients (filet mignon), haha.
CZJ didn’t live in Hollywood for most of her career. Their family moved to Bermuda when their kids were young. They recently sold their family home there. She definitely has a very laidback almost European outlook on food. And I think her statement re “clean” was not diet-speak but about liking her veggies simply prepared. The same goes for “if I’m good”. I got the impression that was more about if she was on top of her day and had time to make the scones.
As a European (German) Person I have to say that unfortunately we also have a lot diet culture here and many are dealing with disordered eating. It's not just America...
If we listen carefully, she said "If I'm good, I'll have scones in the oven." Not "I'll have a scone with clotted cream and jam." Essentially, "If I've been good about time management, by this point in the day I will have started preparing this delicious homemade pastry."
I was so pleasantly surprised by her! I also loved that when she was talking about foods she avoided she talked about foods she didn’t like, not diet culture bs about what you should and shouldn’t eat. So refreshing!
The “no-cebo” effect is so real! My neurologist told me years ago to watch MSG for my migraines, so I laid off the Chinese food and packaged snacks with MSG on the label. Then I found out that Chick-fil-A is packed with MSG and I’ve been eating that no problem😂😂🙃
I remember the fear mongering and how every asian restaurant put up signs saying "No MSG here" and stuff like that. Then I lived in Japan and realize it's just a spice for them and nobody cares. And if I'm making asian cusine I have it on hand if my food needs it.
Same here. During hot summer days I prefer fruit, smoothies, salads and other cold foods. When it’s colder and raining or during winter and autumn I prefer hot food and lots of tea! 🫖 ☕️
She meant; if I’ve remembered to make scones. It wasn’t a “deserve thing”. Clean probably refers to “simple” or “not complicated”. Indeed, we Europeans are much less neurotic about food and fat. We have actual 1 hour lunch breaks and eat proper meals, socialising or not but work life balance is everything. No one eats at their desks.
Sorry but this isn’t true. Since you’re talking about Catherine in this, I’m assuming we include Britain in the European umbrella. Plenty of people eat at their desks. The UK in particular unfortunately has a very similar relationship with food to North America.
Absolutely loved Cathernine’s love and seemingly joyous relationship with food when I watched her video when it came out. I think she’s a wonderful role model for me, to scrap diet culture and go back to that wholesome, balanced relationship with food as file but also as part of our culture, heritage and to be free to enjoy the nostalgia of food too. It’s all so impressive for our mental health and feeling of belonging
Catherine's video was probably one of the most down to earth and relatable ones yet. I love her food choices and even more so her description of them. I am kind of surprised you edited the video so much. She described eating chicken or fish with her lunch, and her two snacks are sweets/carb centric so that would kind of make up for her "cleaner" veggie and lean protein focused lunches & dinners. She was very down to earth and clearly likes to eat. I highly recommend everyone checking out the full video.
I FREAKING love you and your vids, Abbey. You’ve taught me so much about how I can respect my body, how I can find satisfaction in whatever foods I’m eating (using your Hunger Crushing Combo, of course), and that my food choices don’t decide what kind of a person I am❤️❤️
I have been WAITING on this one!!! And yes, Catherine’s voice makes everything sound so good! Btw Abbey, I learn so much from your channel, thank you for blessing us with your knowledge & witty personality💚💚
I love Catherine Zeta Jones and the way she talks about food feels so genuine! Way to go CZJ - break that Hollywood mold! And Abbey, I really appreciate your video posts :)
My favorite Catherine Zeta Jones movie will forever be The Mask of Zorro. It was one of my favorite movies in high school. Chicago's a close second, though.
I have suffered from severe migraines for over 23 years. I can honestly say after journaling my triggers for such a long time that MSG was a huge trigger in my teens and early 20s. My migraine triggers have changed over time but there were many foods that contained a notable amount of MSG (not just Asian foods by any means) that would result in a migraine attack. People who suffer from migraines tend to have very individual experiences concerning migraine symptoms and triggers.
I'm sorry but who DOESN'T live off potatoes all year round 😜 "Seasonal eating" also has a lot to do with produce availability, not just what the body craves. For example, my main pals in winter are oranges and in summer mangoes 😄
These videos make me so damn emotional 😥 because I realize how I have so much 'diet culture' in my head with "being good" or assigning "good" or "bad" to foods. I thought I'd gotten over most of my unhealthy food issues but these videos just remind me of how much old dialogue I have banging around in my head still. It *REALLY IS* frustrating how the information on food is constantly changing. I was keto for several years and felt and looked the best ever...but then I ended up with a non-keto partner and now I'm back to scratch with meal ideas and so much information floating around. Every day it feels like there's new scientific info about this or that. I currently just stick with things that come out of the ground mixed with things from trees and a dash of things that had legs at one point...and then enjoy breads and such when we go out to dinner on the weekends (breads 100% make me groggy/foggy). I *try* not to judge myself too harshly and to toxically influence my partner with my food thoughts (he's got his own with sweets). These videos are really helping me to stay on point and be conscious of my 'diet culture' thoughts. Thank you.
For my ed recovery I needed to just eat whatever I wanted and not think about it but I'm happy that I'm almost to the point where I can be more mindful about nutrition while not going overboard. The whole journey has been so long and of course is not over but your videos help so much. This video was so refreshing I teared up quite a few times. I always expect the worst from celebs (diet culture fueled by fatphobia) but her passion for food while also balancing it with nutrition is really inspiring and so so so so refreshing. (tearing up again lol. Have honestly been struggling a lot w food lately and this video came at a great time)
Full fat yogurt is the shit. Throughout my early twenties I wondered why I hate all the dairy and eventually I realized it was all low fat garbage, not the stuff I remembered from childhood. Now i only buy stuff full fat. Abbey had one video making breakfast with yogurt and I found that same yogurt in the store and it's the best yogurt I've had in years. It's Liberte Mediterranean or something like that, black and gold tub, it's 10% and so delicious you can just have some all by itself.
I love her in Chicago as well. 😍 I also got to see her on Broadway in A Little Night Music and she gave a beautiful performance. I definitely know what she means by “daylight savings” too. I crave soup in the winter and salad in the summer. Smoothies in the summer, oatmeal in the winter. I love her What I Eat in a Day. It’s so real and close to my personal choices!
Yes to the fruit in the salad! I made fish n chips last week and whipped up a salad with rocket, tangelo, ashed goats cheese, pepitas and a dash of balsamic. Soooo good!
I respect intuitive eaters so much, I don't trust myself around food enough to try it.. yet 😅 also, I love the editing of this video, the floating fruit in particular 😄
Catherine Zeta Jones was my first girl crush when I saw her in The Legend of Zorro as a kid. It's cool to see she eats so well and balanced. It makes me like her even more.
Eating as you feel around the seasons. Love the way she named normal eating it’s own ‘thing’ ; daylight saving diet. Funny. In the winter I’m a porridge girl. Yup. How normal. Intuitive. Common. Dare I say. How dare I be normal ; I’m a daylight saving diet lover.
I’m new to your channel and have been binge watching ever since. I definitely didn’t get the diet vibes from CZJ when it came to the scones. I just think she meant: if I’ve been on top of everything I got to do AND was still efficient enough to bake scones! I lived in London for years and scones are life!
@Katie A that same argument could be said for every video Abbey reviews that contains dangerous health claims. the point of her channel is to challenge people who are causing harm with their dietary advice.
@Katie A I think that’s a gross generalization about the gullibility of people with mental illnesses. He is already as popular as can be, and it’s about time someone educated the public on why his health claims are fraudulent and dangerous, with a focus on science.
I have to be honest. At first I wasn't too convinced with this channel. But I've seen I huge evolution in her content. She is definitely smashing it. Thanks for all the quality information that you give us in every video. 🥰🥰
Abbey, I want to thank you for saying that food should not be used as simply a reward for behavior. I really needed that. I often do the opposite, I don’t let myself eat if I feel I’ve been “bad.” I even have refused to eat all day to punish myself. I have had weight problems a long time and mental health issues too. You helped me realize my errors.
I actually really liked this one with the famous Katherine Zeta Jones! She is down to earth with her food but also enjoys the nice things in life. Yes she does talk about “clean” food but I think some people don’t know how to describe healthy food any other way, I dunno. Very popular phrases like “I deserve my chocolate” is very rooted in diet culture today that we don’t even realize we are buying into it.
Thank you so much for making these videos that remove the guilt from eating for me. I’ve been dealing with disordered eating for a long time and I’ve found so much comfort in watching your videos ❤️
Once I read about the skim vs whole milk thing, I switched to whole milk and Greek yogurt, and let me tell you: not only do I enjoy it more but I feel fuller and not with that necessity to eat more to feel satiated. I even serve myself less than before because it makes me really full and have seen improvement in my acne as well on top of that. The more I learn.
It really rocks my socks that you take such a multifaceted approach to talking about food, bringing in pleasure, health/nutrition, satiety, AND environmental issues and social justice issues 💜 Also, I grew up in a family that has never had a good relationship with food. My major adult figure, my mom, has struggled with her weight her entire life and constantly shifts between overeating, gaining weight quickly and depending on only processed, high fat foods, and being restrictive, losing weight, and demonizing foods. As a result, my relationship with food has also been really challenging. I also have PCOS and have struggled to find a diet that satisfies me, doesn't drive constant carb and sugar cravings, and doesn't make me feel icky. I feel like your videos have helped me a lot with my approach to food and being willing to experiment and find what makes me feel better without feeling overwhelmed. I'm finding that I have never eaten nearly enough protein or fats and that adding in fats and proteins when I'm wanting carbs in addition to a smaller serving of what I'm craving (rather than just trying to take away all the carbs in my life like my doctor's keep telling me to do) puts a more positive spin on these changes and allows me to approach it from an "oh, I feel better when I eat the hunger crushing combo," rather than "oh God, I just want bread, why do I have to eat *insert random "health" food here* again??" I also work in ecology and conservation and tried doing a solely vegetarian diet and it didn't work for me because I think I wasn't giving myself the nutrients I needed, and I'm finding your really diverse food suggestions with both animal products and more plant-based approaches really helpful in making switches that feel sustainable and creating more plant-based meals that still satisfy me and help me meet my nutrient needs. Especially in places where seeing a dietitian isn't always accessible or affordable for folks, having these big picture suggestions in your videos in a fun and approachable format has been so helpful for me in building a better relationship with food. And they've also been helpful for me in thinking about what my goals are and where I need the most support when I am ready and able to approach a dietitian for more help.
I love this. She enjoys food. She can afford higher-end food and embraces it. I love that she loves food! I wish more celebrities were like this rather than the classes avocado toast and lemon water.
I started buying a whole milk yogurt and it's so much better and so much more filling than any of the low fat yogurt I ate before. It's not greek yogurt (too sour for me) but it is really delicious and makes a great breakfast or snack when paired with fruits or granola or nuts.
Great to see someone with a balanced diet! Abby, can you do a video on getting a neurodiverse child to branch out on what they will eat? I’ve tried having him help make it and your suggestions for intuitive eating but he is beyond picky!
I feel like CZJ has gotten figured out. Which is refreshing both as a celebrity and also considering her mental health journey. Hearing her talk you tell she loves what she eats and enjoys life
You’re making me rethink my family habit of working from home and us both eating lunch at our desks. Maybe i will try to make a lunch break, cook and eat lunch together, and leave the leftovers for dinner (instead of for lunch).
The only way the seasons affect my eating is I eat whatever veggies/fruits are in season. Nothing beats fresh berries/cherries in the summer and hearty butternut squash/ potatoes in the winter.
My husband is a chef and I noticed that I got pains in my chest and palpations after certain meals he made. We kept an eye on it and it turns out it was meals he was adding msg and soy sauce to. I had to cut down on soy sauce and stop adding msg to food.
@@AbbeysKitchen Abbey has this not been debunked by now? I follow a lot East Asian cooks on insta and they frequently post about the damaging and incorrect narrative and fear mongering regarding MSG?
@@AbbeysKitchen Oops wrote that reply before actually watching the segment of the video. Thank you for shedding light on this. This all started because some racist reporter decided to write a terrible report in a newspaper in New York years ago. He even gave himself a fake name and admitted years later it was a 'joke'. People that say that are ill after Chinese food probably had bad Chinese food!
I know a teacher of mine spoke about how whenever she had food with msg, she'd get a really bad headache (potentially migraine?) So she also had to avoid it. I wonder why if affects some and not others?
I think when she said "if I'm really good", she means it the second way you described. Whenever I'm really good I'll make my lunch before I'm ravenous lol
I just discovered your channel today and have been binging (videos not food!). I also subscribed! Love your realistic, healthy approach to food. Thanks for the great content!
This was the video I was hoping to see because finally one celeb who seems to have a good relationship with food. Her recipes sound really satiating and yummy. As always, thanks for the gentle nutrition tips. I also kinda want curry, but my husband makes some delicious enchiladas and more on his night to cook. So good, I'd marry him twice.
She seems to be really wholesome & all round healthy! It’s really nice to see! Side note 📝 Abbey.. on the subject of migraines.. I’m unfortunately one of the zillion migraine sufferers! I’d really love to hear your thoughts & advice on trigger foods 🧐🧐
Amazing how she just lists the foods she doesn’t like when they ask her what she avoids 🥳 also, what would you recommend as yoghurt option for dairy-intolerant people, as most vegan options are quite low in fat?
I think it’s pretty clear she meant if I’m good in the latter form - if she is on top of things. She said “I will have already baked” following the statement, which suggests it’s about her preparedness, not her diet.
Love Catherine Zeta Jones Routine, the way she eats for me seems super healthy! Would love to see more grain free videos and low carb… I do get a feeling Abbey is very pro pro grains and breads.. So I might be on the wrong channel 🤷🏻♀️ There is so much info around the damage of gluten and grains can have on your body and brain, so physical and mental health.. so would love to see a cool video for Low Carb Lovers!
That’s funny. I watched CZJ video before this one and my first thought was how Abbey would approve. Agreed that she is much like Nigella, whom I love. ❤️
Have you ever dabbled in learning theory? Constructivism (aka Self-Inquiry) versus Behaviorism (aka Conditioning) could be super helpful in terms of relationships with food. We use it a lot in the educational world (for obvious reasons).
I love scones as well!!!! I do think she meant the latter since homemade scones are so much better than store bought and I wish I had time in the day to make some fresh scones.
I also think that when she said clean in reference to the veggies she meant simply seasoned with olive oil, salt and pepper and sautéed. I don't think she was using it as the typical buzz word.
Been reading Dr. Tim Spector’s book “The Diet Myth” which is fascinating. He relates our our body fat and shape not just to what we eat and to exercise, but to our gut biome and to our genetic heritage as well. His review of people’s eating habits includes a lot of references to controlled scientific studies of twins as well as to animal studies. It’s very interesting, especially as it is definitely not body shaming or what you eat shaming. I’d be curious to know your reaction to this book and to his general approach to food.
okay i legit was watching this exact video of catherine the other day and was imagining what abbey would be saying for every meal if she was to review it and then she DOES review it like wooww hahahah love it love u abbey
Ooooo after hearing the indian food mentioned here, i now really hope you do a video based on indian cuisine.. whether what i eat in a day or a general indian cuisine based video.. Oh it could also be a type of 'series' covering different types of cuisines.. Just thinking out loud.. love your videos abby.. it has helped me a lot with my relationship with food

OK, but when I read "celeb salad" I pictured a bowl of lettuce topped with miniature tomatoes shaped like various Hollywood actors. 😂

Have honestly been struggling a lot w food lately and this video came at a great time)
Thank you for sharing. I'm so glad you are doing better and that this video was helpful for you ❤️
The way you talk about food has helped me heal my relationship with it. Thank you so much for your contact! It really does help
I’m so glad it’s been helpful for you! ❤️
For sure! I enjoyed it too 😊
Yes to the fruit in the salad!
Warrior Girl 🗡 💃 🛡, if I can learn do it, anybody can.
Thanks! I have an entire IE playlist that you might find helpful! ruclips.net/video/cf7JbfqiLic/видео.html&ab_channel=AbbeySharp
Catherine Zeta Jones was my first girl crush when I saw her in The Legend of Zorro as a kid. It's cool to see she eats so well and balanced. It makes me like her even more.
Same!
Agreed!
I loved her in Entrapment! It was a staple in my childhood 😄
Love that!
CZJ went to dance school with my sister-in-law in the valleys. She is and was a lovely person x
Wow!
I’m new to your channel and have been binge watching ever since. I definitely didn’t get the diet vibes from CZJ when it came to the scones. I just think she meant: if I’ve been on top of everything I got to do AND was still efficient enough to bake scones! I lived in London for years and scones are life!
Please do Medical Medium and his horrible claims about “curing” mental health disorders soon!!
@Katie A that same argument could be said for every video Abbey reviews that contains dangerous health claims. the point of her channel is to challenge people who are causing harm with their dietary advice.
On my list!
@Katie A I think that’s a gross generalization about the gullibility of people with mental illnesses. He is already as popular as can be, and it’s about time someone educated the public on why his health claims are fraudulent and dangerous, with a focus on science.
I’m so excited you did my suggestion! :) thank you!!
I hope you enjoyed it!
I have to be honest. At first I wasn't too convinced with this channel. But I've seen I huge evolution in her content. She is definitely smashing it. Thanks for all the quality information that you give us in every video. 🥰🥰
Thank you, so glad you're enjoying the videos!
Find a therapist with experience with disordered eating and be honest. You always deserve to eat! Everyone does. Good luck!
@@ohleander02 thank you.
I agree!
Thank you so much for making these videos that remove the guilt from eating for me. I’ve been dealing with disordered eating for a long time and I’ve found so much comfort in watching your videos ❤️
She won me over with Chicago. Thanks for the video; always learning from you.
Love Catherine and her view on food almost as much as I love Abbey's! 😀
Aw thanks!
Interesting! I'm glad that works for you
It really rocks my socks that you take such a multifaceted approach to talking about food, bringing in pleasure, health/nutrition, satiety, AND environmental issues and social justice issues 💜
Also, I grew up in a family that has never had a good relationship with food. I'm finding that I have never eaten nearly enough protein or fats and that adding in fats and proteins when I'm wanting carbs in addition to a smaller serving of what I'm craving (rather than just trying to take away all the carbs in my life like my doctor's keep telling me to do) puts a more positive spin on these changes and allows me to approach it from an "oh, I feel better when I eat the hunger crushing combo," rather than "oh God, I just want bread, why do I have to eat *insert random "health" food here* again??"
I also work in ecology and conservation and tried doing a solely vegetarian diet and it didn't work for me because I think I wasn't giving myself the nutrients I needed, and I'm finding your really diverse food suggestions with both animal products and more plant-based approaches really helpful in making switches that feel sustainable and creating more plant-based meals that still satisfy me and help me meet my nutrient needs.
I always loved Catherine Zeta Jones and I love her even more now! I loved her in Zorro! She was great there!
Love that one too!
I always crave salads & wraps in the winter and soups/stews/curries in the summer!
Anyone else??
Totally!
I love this. She enjoys food. She can afford higher-end food and embraces it. I love that she loves food! I wish more celebrities were like this rather than the classes avocado toast and lemon water.
Agreed!
Omg the way nigella describes the ingredients used in the meal she’s making causes my mouth to salivate almost uncontrollably.
Agreed!
I started buying a whole milk yogurt and it's so much better and so much more filling than any of the low fat yogurt I ate before. It's not greek yogurt (too sour for me) but it is really delicious and makes a great breakfast or snack when paired with fruits or granola or nuts.
Hehe I think by "if I was really good," she meant that she went through the effort and prepared the ingredients/mixtures for the scones to be baked :)
I agree!
Great to see someone with a balanced diet! Abby, can you do a video on getting a neurodiverse child to branch out on what they will eat? I’ve tried having him help make it and your suggestions for intuitive eating but he is beyond picky!
I will put this on my list to discuss!
I feel like CZJ has gotten figured out. Which is refreshing both as a celebrity and also considering her mental health journey. Hearing her talk you tell she loves what she eats and enjoys life
Agreed!
You know it's a good interview when it leads to multiple inspirations for lunch!
I loved her in Zorro and I am thrilled to hear she enjoys vegetables and scones in equal measure...
Same!
For sure!
My husband is a chef and I noticed that I got pains in my chest and palpations after certain meals he made. We kept an eye on it and it turns out it was meals he was adding msg and soy sauce to. I had to cut down on soy sauce and stop adding msg to food.
Oh wow!
I love that she eats real food!! Probably one of your best videos in ages ☺️
Thank you!
I think when she said "if I'm really good", she means it the second way you described. Whenever I'm really good I'll make my lunch before I'm ravenous lol
Agreed!
I agree, it was very nice to watch! Those sound delicious 😊
On my list to discuss this topic!
Loving the hair Abbey! Thanks for the informative video as always 💕
So glad it was helpful!
Ohhh this ought to be good🤣 sending lots of love to you Abbey❤️
I hope you enjoy it! ❤️
All her meals sound great. Love her 💕. Timeless beauty.
Agreed!
Well it is good to eat according to your circadian rhythm. I love Catherine. She understands how to eat well for her.
Agreed!
She actually has a great out look on food especially dessert! This was a great video!!
Agreed!
Amazing how she just lists the foods she doesn’t like when they ask her what she avoids 🥳 also, what would you recommend as yoghurt option for dairy-intolerant people, as most vegan options are quite low in fat?
Coconut yogurt tends to be higher in far than full fat dairy yogurt.
Coconut. But honestly cashew or almond based are fine too.
I think it’s pretty clear she meant if I’m good in the latter form - if she is on top of things. She said “I will have already baked” following the statement, which suggests it’s about her preparedness, not her diet.
"If I'm really, really good, I've already baked some scones...." Seems clear she meant that if she's on top of her game and got some baking done.
Agreed!
Love it 😊❤️
Have you ever dabbled in learning theory? Constructivism (aka Self-Inquiry) versus Behaviorism (aka Conditioning) could be super helpful in terms of relationships with food. We use it a lot in the educational world (for obvious reasons).
I'll have a look into that, thanks for the suggestion
Catherine will always exude sexiness, I love her. One of my top 5 fav movies is Chicago
Love that one!
I agree!
I'll have a look at that!
okay i legit was watching this exact video of catherine the other day and was imagining what abbey would be saying for every meal if she was to review it and then she DOES review it like wooww hahahah love it
love u abbey
Oh wow! Glad you enjoyed the video ❤️
My favorite ever video of what someone likes to eat! Its like she is a real person, lol!
Great job Abbey, lo ed your commentary as usual!
-Sarah
So glad you enjoyed the video!
I was so happy after I watched her what I eat in a day.
It’s like my diet.
Healthy meals but constant sweets.
So glad you enjoyed it!
I will put this on my list! So glad the videos are helpful for you 😊
I love fruit in my salad. Grating a raw beetroot into a salad also gives it a marvellous sweet, earthy flavour.
Sounds great!
