I got so excited when Julian started talking about his perspective on vocals' function and how the record becomes so unique and magical when the instruments crush in each over and blend nicely and create a new complex sound, and the compare he gave with the food when maybe you can't even tell what all the ingredients are, but it's just the flavor that wouldn't exist without all the little things inside - I was thinking about that so listening to Julian was really wonderful and special. And wanted to say thanks to the interviewer for the visible sincere passion for the project, all the details like logo on tv, vinyls on the table, poster on the wall, and, most importantly, great questions and interest in answers! Subscribed, waiting for other parts!
Ooooh boy! Thank you SO much for sharing these thoughts. Really makes me super happy that my efforts pays of and fans of the band like what I'm doing. I always try to put in as many details as possible in my videos. Therefore it is super nice, when someone notice and appreciate all these small things 🙏🏻❤️
I was thinking just the same! And man was I surprised when he turned up on my screen like that 😂 But luckily his words are better than his picture-quality and audio sound-quality 👍
Julian your voice sounds amazing on the record! doesn't come off too loud at all or something. Eternal Summer or any of the tracks wouldn't have the power they do without your vocals where they're at
@The Comefort Zone although you’re right about those vocals being a bit too loud I think it makes the songs a lot more fun in a way. It reminds me of is this is when’re the bad owners the fact that they produced the record in a trashy basement and the record sounded as such. Making the vocals a bit louder while still blending the vocals gives them their own twist. The lack of perfection makes the tracks perfect.
He he he - I can tell you that I (the interviewever) felt quite the same way! 😂 But I know how the guys are in interviews and knew what to expect. Loved it aaaall the way 🥳
Thank you soooo much for noticing Logan! I do it in all my videos/interviews because I love small details like that. But through interviews with AC/DC, Foo Fighters and Nick Cave you are the first one to actually mention the graphics/logo on the small TV set. Really makes me happy 😃😃😃
Could not have said it better myself! And I love that The Strokes won for best album. I really really like "The New Abnormal" and it has almost re-ignited my Strokes fandom (not that it was ever gone, it's just SO much stronger now than it has been for years) ❤️
I very much agree Sol! The full interview will be released this Friday. It's 20 minutes long and ended up being very much about the new album (but I could have continued our talk about The New Abnormal for at least another 20 minutes) 🙏🏻 Link to the full interview (online Friday 16th March): ruclips.net/video/jL19sIpJ_1k/видео.html
Thank you so much Amelie. Really appreciate that you like it and took your time to comment. My interviews mean a great deal to me and I take great care to prepare myself as good as possible. So it makes me happy that all my efforts pays of ❤️👍
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, it was looong overdue for The Strokes to win a Grammy. And I'm just so happy that they won for "The New Abnormal". I really really really like that album
I absolutely agree Juan! They really just blending in perfectly with the music, whilst still mainting a both mysterious and clear/clean quality. Just great! 👍❤️
They were man! So much! 😂✌🏻 But I liked it. Was such a Julian/Albert thing to do. Just wait for the whole interview. It get’s even "worse" 🥲🤩🙏🏻 Full interview is here now: ruclips.net/video/jL19sIpJ_1k/видео.html
Nah, if you look at most Strokes interviews, the band usually doesn't say much. This was a mini gem, we even got to hear Albert tell Jules he really likes his voice.
I’m late to the party, but great interview. You are lovely Anders, finally an interviewee that isn’t cringe worthy. No wonder they opened up and looked like they enjoyed talking for once.
The way Julian described the "harmony ball" makes so much sense when you listen to the Strokes, no band is better at creating that perfect synergy between the 2 guitars and base + vocals. I'm surprised that Albert reacted like he considered that for the first time, I mean they've been doing it since 2001. Although yes I think they incorporate the vocals more in that back & forth these days
I'm feeling Julian doesn't want to sound like their old sound. like he always stated before. especially his solo album n projects. he just need to realize that people love his raw clean voice. it's like a more fine than their first n second album. Jules prolly hates this but yeah he hates when ppl compare from the previous albums. but that's what fandom do :v
I agree with Julian since I adore when songs have that grudgey microphone sound. But like you said it still came out amazing, and some of the songs would probably sound weird with the grundgey micrphone, plus people can finally understand what hes saying this album lol
Ha ha - you are SO right! 😂 First Strokes album where I don’t need to read the lyrics to find out what the heck this beautiful voice is actually singing! ❤️
Hej Anders! Very good work. I have seen a lot of interviews with JC and he can be pretty tough depending on his daily form, I guess...;-) It is super fun to watch and that is really because you put the right questions and let them talk. I wonder how you got the interview, is it because of Julian's Danish roots...? :-)
Hej Marc. Thank you so very much! They were fun, quirky and little tough and great sports to interview. So it made me very happy to do after a looong time of preparation. And to answer your question, I am able to get these interviews because I have worked as a music journalist in Denmark for more than 15 years and have build up a big network of managements, agents, booker etc. This interview was used here on RUclips, in a written article and as a podcast. So a lot of exposure for one interview (which makes everyone from band to management to recordlabel and me happy. So a win-win for all) :-D
As far as I remember I do believe that Julian was in a N.Y. Hotelroom. So either it's the hotel rooms preinstalled meeting web-cam or just Julian loving to put his own camera up super high :-D
We were just getting started. This was just an excerpt of the full interview, which will be online Friday 19th March 😃 Full interview is approx 20 minutes long 🙏🏻 Link here: ruclips.net/video/jL19sIpJ_1k/видео.html
Uh, me me me! 🙋🏻♂️ A lot of my favorite albums has been produced by Rick, so I’m always curious to know about how he’s working with various artists 🤓👌🏻
Julian’s hair is so distinctive and it’s so him. It may not complement his face in the best way but it has personality. I think he uses it as his trademark in a way. Regardless, I doubt he knows or would care about what we think about it. Still love him.
Julian & his ceiling camera are back
😂😂😂
Well deserved Grammy long over due

The Strokes deserve so much more.
Julian's voice is his gift he shares with the world... thank u julian!!!
okay, Jules did his interview on cctv cam again. ofc. it's The New Abnormal
I was thinking just the same! And man was I surprised when he turned up on my screen like that 😂 But luckily his words are better than his picture-quality and audio sound-quality 👍
Julian back with his crisp cctv cam video chat
He he he - "crisp cctv cam video chat". Loved that comment :-D
I love how this interview is basically one question but it’s still so good
For what it's worth, The Adults Are Talking has been ingrained in my head for three months now.
they´re always evolving, and they always do what they really want, I just appreciate that a lot

Julian will not BS, he will tell you how he feels, if you get him to talk and give him space
Was this an interview? Or just Julián and albert having a very interesting conversation? 😂 love them so much. This is incredible 🙌🙌🙌

@@TinyTV_DK I'm sure the tv logo is one of the first things everyone notices
I'm glad that Rick made the vocals loud and clean. It fit with the strength of julian voice.
I know it’s so nice to not have to hear a vocalist strain himself over the instruments
Julian you’re a beautiful Musician! Albert so are you!! Awweee all of you guys are🥺🥰💜💋✨💫🌞🌜 God Bless You All!
The vocal level is great. We can finally hear Julian's voice clearly and it sounds great.
Absolutely agree! 🙏🏻🎸
Julian recording the interview with a fooking toaster... gotta love him!
AHJ's hair is the best comeback story
Albert's like Benjamin Button! Show me the way to the fountain, man.
100% deserved. cant believe good music still winning these days
