There are very few vanilla orchid reviews so far but this is the standout for me in detail, quality of presentation and explanation, great work Marcel!
This the first time I see your channel and I just want to say that u are the best youtuber i have seen this year I hope You are doing well and keep going ❤
What an interesting Linux distro. Trying to deciding if it’s right for me as a content creator. Would like to hear your thought on it. Thanks for the video!
@@Mr_Ravee lol a week is good but with 30 days I can do a more in depth review, as it stands rn I’ve ran into some stuff and have some takes, but not really enough to what I think would make a good and entertaining video. I also want to execute some other video ideas and content creation helps me experience many distros I try a lot more and get more experience using the distro :) I do post updates on Reddit tho reddit.com/r/PenguinByte, I will post about how it’s going a week in, 2 weeks in, etc for those who are interested
@@printabledocumentfile Vanilla OS will make 2 root partitions on your disk, the A root partition for the current system, and the B root partition for the backup that you can always rollback to. Hope this helped!
@@printabledocumentfile I'm sure this only affects the immutable root part of the system. So you are always able to boot. It doesn't affect installed programs in or your home folder. Hope this helps ;)
yup! You will first need some setup though, from my experience you first need to open a terminal and type "vso android init" to install and launch Waydroid :)
Ah yes ofc, I love the new COSMIC, prob will try it if Fedora COSMIC spin releases lol, and yea for a system76 Darter Pro you’ll most likely have a good experience :)
Great video! please test this against aurora d1x developer version its a ublue img with similar features .also my favorite immutable curious as to what your thoughts would be
Thank you! Also thanks for the suggestion :) I’ve played around with uBlue before, and I believe Aurora is like Bluefin but with KDE right? I personally dislike KDE as a DE and have bad experiences with it, and it’s just really not my jam, I’m more of a GNOME person myself, but uBlue is pretty neat, Bazzite is prob my fav uBlue image lol
@PenguinByte thank you for responding hehe and no worries I don't really like de in general I'm a wm sorta guy so I sorta get it bazzite is pretty good but I couldn't get it to work except through ublue lol
@PenguinByte if you won't cover aurora d1x could you cover bazzite perhaps I'm trying to see what's better between the 2 or has more functionality. Seems like vanilla os 2 atm but personally aurora d1x was my favorite experience with immutable , I tried blend os as well but its not quite there yet
lmao yea Vanilla OS 22.10 wasn't the greatest, they were still figuring out how to do things, and Vanilla OS 2.0 could still make many things easier ootb, but they've majorly improved I can say that from experience with both
@@NormTurtle unfortunately I don’t video edit on Linux, in fact it’s the only thing I don’t do on Linux bcs Davinci Resolve is really a pain to setup and my Linux laptop and my Linux laptop has meh specs, but I do have my main laptop running Linux which is waiting for repairs, and has beasty specs, and when I can that fixed I will turn it into an editing workstation, so ty for the suggestion!
Nice video! Just an idea. But great video! Very informative, looks super clean throughout. Good job!
I think that's a good idea! Just trying to help. I watch a lot of RUclips haha. But seriously, great video! Gonna keep an eye on this channel for sure.
@@utkarshdeoli For Davinci Resolve I use a MacBook Pro from 2016 with 16GB RAM, 1TB Storage, Intel Core i7, and AMD Radeon, unfortunately it's hard to get Davinci on Linux but when I can do it I'll use it on my Linux laptop, I use my Linux laptop for everything else ofc lol
@@PenguinByte wait ok lemme recommend you a guide , just search install davinchi resolve with distro box and you will get the video, this solution works for me in arch but tbh mac is your best bet to edit effectively and efficiently
Yea distro box works, but I will just probably wait to get my main laptop repaired and install Rocky Linux on it since that’s Davinci’s intended Linux distro
Thanks! Yes, Vanilla OS as far as I know does not collect any data, and it is fully free and open source, so like most Linux distros, you can audit the code to make sure :)
Thanks for covering and congrats for the nice video layout 🤟🏼
Thanks! Also congrats on the new release :)

Thanks for this--you're making the kind of content that both RUclips and the FOSS community need.
Thanks, I truly appreciate the kind words :)
I’ve been a Vanilla OS supporter for a while now. This is the distro for me. 😊
Great video, you’ve got amazing skills!
