For older people, I would say that even if you’re an introvert like me, having a RUclips channel will bring with it new friends from all over the world 🌍. Haters are very few and far between and thus far I’ve only had one to which I responded “Thank you. Noted” and that was it. Nothing more and no response from the person. I recommend your channel to everyone as you are so incredibly helpful and generous with your knowledge ❤. Thank you, you have helped me so much in growing my channel. Thank you Alexa . Much love to you and yours, Imi xxx❤❤
Great tips and so encouraging. I'd only add - don't wait to be in the 'perfect place' to start your channel. There's no better time than now to begin that journey. Best wishes everyone - Paul 😃😃
Thank you for the tips! I have uploaded 8 long-form videos about books so far, so your comment about needing to wait until you have made 20 videos before you expect more growth is encouraging! I am looking forward to connecting to other readers- the community aspect is so important!!❤
Hi Alexa ..,. Been given your channel info from Rob. You are both saying consistently is the key😀. Looking forward to watching your other videos about getting started. Thank you for your guidance 👍
I hate listening to my voice. But somehow… many In my channel can tolerate it. Some even say they stayed till the end of it. Goes to show… you just need to start. Your experience shines. And oh, make sure you make it a point to say that you are over 40, or over 50, or whatever. the algorithm loves it lately. Draws in like minded people is what I am saying. The community
Yes, I agree with everything you said. The plus 40 comment and the comment about not being so critical on yourself, because other people are actually much less critical than we think, especially if you are helping them to overcome something they are struggling with. xoxo
I agree with the community aspect of it. I think it's amazing how we can connect with people all over the world. On your other point, while I'm on other social media, I don't plan on sharing what I do on youtube there. I'm on Facebook, but rarely use it. I use instagram a lot, but it's for content different than what I would do here.
Yes, I'm horrible about sharing across platforms as well. It could be repurposed for each platform, but I just don't have the desire. Sticking to one and focusing hard core! xoxo
I totally agree regarding the community i think that is very very important if you want to grow and sustain your channel over time, cool video, thanks for sharing.
What you said at the end about trying to improve a little each week is so important otherwise it can seem overwhelming, especially when you're just starting. Small steps made consistently end up with big results :)
Thank you for helpin everyone Grow their RUclips Channel! I'm 52 and can't wait to start doing what you do so well. Great tips! I'm 53 and can't wait to start.
I signed up to your skool just as soon as you mentioned it! Looking forward to glean all ai can from everyone!! Thanks for doing it…my membership is pending, though 🥺
Awesome! Thank you! 😊 I need to let a bunch of people in don’t worry! I’m horrible at sticking to a restricted number of people! 😅😂 My RUclips coach has been laughing at me. I would make a terrible bouncer at a nightclub. 🤣
I think the biggest tip of all for me is "Don't Quit". I started online social media before the Internet. But, quit over and over. This time I decided not to quit, period.
So many of us “older” people are getting on RUclips. We have so much wisdom. My most recent video has over 10K views and so far I’ve been able to respond to every comment.
I wish I had more confidence to post my YT to my other social media outlets. I have the links but I don't pimp it out as far as posting clips on reels, FB etc. lol
I have a problem: Last week I hit 200 subscribers and this week 300 🎉 BUT my short views aren’t really converting into long form views despite the similar content. Happy to be growing though
But the one thing that shorts do even if they don't directly get people to your long format, the shorts get them to see it, because if they like your shorts, then your long format videos will start to show up in their feed (long format feed I mean). So it will probably pay off later! xoxo
You don't have a problem, you have a success! Growing from 200 subs to 300 subs is excellent. You actually grew you sub count by 50%. That's amazing for a new channel; enjoy your momentum.
people watching shorts don’t actually really get shown long form content that’s why people normally choose one or the other when doing YT. Look up videos by “think media” or “vidIQ” they are professionals and have years of experience at helping people do YT the correct way
Alexa what if you don’t have a niche? I’m 46 and a bit of a jack of all trades, I’m not great at anything . I want to help people create lives they live but never seem to be able to get my message across effectively. I don’t want to talk about my 9to5 profession as it’s boring as heck!
I would recommend having an audience in mind that you are talking to. Is there some particular area of life you have improved in your own life that you code help other people with? I have an entire playlist devoted to finding your niche if you want to watch that. It might help! 🙌
@@AlexaSaarenoja thank you for your feedback, I will go back and watch your video 🤞. I would like to help over 40 introverts create lives they love. I think a lot of gen x struggle after separations. A lot of my generation went from living at home to living with their husbands and have never done life on their own and we basically are having to learn a lot of things finances, home maintenance etc.

I recently launched the Boomer Bytes Podcast, it’s about Baby Boomers and GenXers being ProAgers living their best life. The most difficult aspect has been learning new technology.
