A tip for those who want to use acrylic paint and and dealing with cracking: don't use water to thin your acrylic paints. Use an acrylic thinning medium instead. Hi KC, i was wondering if i can use POSCA marker then seal it with an oil-based varnish? then ill paint with acrylic on the other side of glass.. do you think the varnish will do me justice? xD thank uu
Honestly that's way too much steps. You can make it easier on yourself by just doing the line with an identipen or oil based sharpie and then painting on the same side.
now it makes sense hahaahh ive been using posca and i just started. thanks for the tips and knowledge 👍 Also i wanna know the comparison of Sharpie oil based and Sakura Identi pen, their pros and cons.. im indecisive a bit if im given choices. i appreciate if u do 😄
If I had to make a choice I would chose the oil based Sharpie. It’s more opaque. The pro about the identipen is that it has a ultra fine nib and a big nib on one pen. Whereas you would have to buy two different pens to get it on the oil based sharpie.
Hello. I recently got to know your work and I admire it. I am a beginner artist. I have a question. Do you use reference for your anime glass painting? If not, can you make a video on that? And if yes, won't it be a copyright issue?
All anime glass are is mostly a transfer of art from paper to glass. So it’s definitely reference. And you don’t have to worry about copyright issues because the companies see it as free advertising. So they never complain about it.
Not me begginin my paiting glass yerterday, fucking up, then doing Gojou today and doing everything fine but when cleaning up, my brush was mixed with other color (?) and having an crisis
If you layer your paint will that still cause the lines to break or crack because if you layer you’re letting it dry before putting more on, I haven’t used acrylic in a while and I don’t remember if I need to wet my brush or not but would it still technically have the thin dry layer on the bottom that could cause cracking?
I also use the tester paints what do you use to clean your brushes im having issues with it either sticking to the brush or it looks clean and it bleeds the previous color into the new color
Bro! I'm about to solve your problem, RIGHT NOW!!! Do what I do. Use the testors paint thinner. @ You pretty much everything that would definitely get the results you did. Decoart and craftsmart are the WORST paint you can use for anime glass paintings. Definitely don’t use paint to make the lines. Oil based sharpie or an identipen.
@ ohh okay. I’ll order some oil based sharpies and better paint then. What paints do you use for yours?
Can you please explain in brief about how to use acetate backing while painting phone cover...???
Also I love your videos!!! Helped me to create perfect anime glass painting ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Im about to start glass painting. This is very helpful good thing i checkout the sharpies not the posca markers 😊
Yes indeed. Glad I could help, my friend.
How many minutes should I leave the paint to dry before painting the other colors?
@@aeriellelacastesantosisice1293 as many minutes as it takes for the paint to dry. You can apply paint to the other parts of the painting while it’s drying. Just make sure it’s to parts that are not next to the part that is drying so they don’t touch.
Thank you so much 😊
Challenge excepted, luckily I'm doing my research before my first try >;3
Good idea. And good luck.
What kind of backing so the paint doesnt stick to the phone? Can you ease explain more what you use? ❤ 10:48
@@moshimoshi400 i use acetate or the other name frisket. After the phone cover is finished just cut it in the shape of the back of the cover and paste it unto the paint. It becomes the barrier between the paint and the phone.

Glad to hear it!
Great tips!
Thanks so much, Sam. Been loving your drawing videos on Instagram, man.
@@Theartofkirkabrigo thanks bro! I truly appreciate your support!! 🙏
maybe I got cheap enamel paint or something but mine is quite thin. Is it not supposed to be? I was thinking of trying botanical/frogs with this method but I havent had time yet. I got some frames that I liked that would go with the color of the subject at the goodwill lol. Your frames look really cool tho! I need to play around. I didn't want to mess up on glass that I paid a good amount for
It’s not suppose to be too thin.
Ima say it right now "This will be easy" I'll come back when its Christmas to tell you guys how it went since Im making tons of these glass painting for Christmas. Only thing I'm scared off is getting good materials that wont mess me up.
You can find the links to the materials I use in the description. Good luck, my friend.
how that goin for ya?
How do you get the shading so clean? My shadows and shading come out jagged. I'm using acrylic paint. Awesome video as always.
There are two ways to do this. You can do the shadows and then after it’s dried go Back in with an xacto blade and chisel away at the jagged bits until it’s smooth. The other way is to practice to make your lines straight so you don’t have to fix them with an xacto blade.
I use posca pens to ink because once I’m done inking, I flip it over so they won’t mix
To the posca pens point… what if you seal the black lineart first? I saw that on another video
That would work.
Thanks a lot for this vdo
Most welcome
I love how you explained it so well and it is very helpful.👏🏻 sorry to ask but are you taking any commissions at the moment?
Thank you. Yes Jessixa I am taking commissions. If you’re interested in one please send me an email to drawninjakc@gmail.com or your can DM me on Instagram @drawninjakc.

I'm also working with painting anime characters on glass and let me tell you I've ✨ F E L T T H E P A I N ✨ behind your tip about the curve of learning oh my god it got to a point where I sobbed while working on a commission and this weren't looking good. Once I made the same imagem THREE MF TIMES and the lines yet somehow got cracked 😭😭😭 now I got the pace and learned how to achieve fine results. It's real, folks. Trust the process. It's gonna hurt, you're definitely gonna cry asking why isn't working since you're doing exactly what everybody seems to be doing (been there) but eventually you'll get there.
Thank you for always using your platform to share your thoughts and works with us. You're certainly making a difference for people who wants to start it and don't know why. With folks like you around, they may pass through this inicial steps with less suffering. Or at least, I hope 😂😂
Thank you for your story and your kind words, Amanda. I can totally relate to your frustrations when you first started. It means so much to me to know I’m helping other artist improve their creative outlets.

I'm attempting to do a few of these for a Christmas gift and I'm running to the problem that my paint isn't sticking to the glass I'm using acrylic craft paint the time that comes in bottles that you can get at any craft store do you have any advice I was really looking forward to making these for Christmas
@@pjo_simping1014 the best advice is DO NOT use acrylic craft paints. They are low quality and is not good for Glass art. A better quality acrylic paint will produce better results. Also an oil based sharpie for the lines will also be a good choice.
@Theartofkirkabrigo ok thank you so much
An update to my last comment:I checked some online stores and it seems that none of the markers you mentioned are available for me (I live in middle east so many brands are not available or affordable)So I came up with an idea and don't know if it might work or not... maybe you can help me as a proAnd the idea is that can I use a brand of marker and then when I did the outline I spay some fixative on it then do the color and if the marker was going to react to the acrylic color we will stop the process
Sounds like a great idea. why not give it a shot and let me know the results.
Dude u are a very nice painter after all the videos I have seen so far as I know how hard anime glass painting is..But the 6 th point is too expensive and not for beginners like me or even a midle class person. I have checked it on Amazon and it's so fucking expensive..so I buy the normal ones and zoom out my painting reference and make it exactly the size after the the frame is on...This was just point that I felt was wrong but u really are nice at anime glass painting which is not only for anime character and for comic characters too😁
Thanks for your kind words, Eren. Much appreciated.
Waw! All of my questions been answered! thank you sir you have good videos about glass paintings😁 and one more thing, can i use poster colors in glass painting?
Nope. Poster colors are not recommended

Oh yeah!!!
@@Theartofkirkabrigo noted! thank u so much =w=
My posca markers arrived today then I saw this just know😳
whoops, lol.
now it makes sense hahaahh ive been using posca and i just started. thanks for the tips and knowledge 👍
Also i wanna know the comparison of Sharpie oil based and Sakura Identi pen, their pros and cons..
im indecisive a bit if im given choices. i appreciate if u do 😄
If I had to make a choice I would chose the oil based Sharpie. It’s more opaque. The pro about the identipen is that it has a ultra fine nib and a big nib on one pen. Whereas you would have to buy two different pens to get it on the oil based sharpie.
@@Theartofkirkabrigo thank you very much 🥺💗
@@futuresai2764 no problem, my friend.
Epic
Can you also use acrylic sheets vs the glass sheets?
Which paint do you use can you reply asap bro big fan
I use blick studio acrylics. There is a link to them below this video in information section.
@@Theartofkirkabrigo Thank you so much for the reply. I really appreciate it.

Not me begginin my paiting glass yerterday, fucking up, then doing Gojou today and doing everything fine but when cleaning up, my brush was mixed with other color (?) and having an crisis
I've watched other artists use a thin layer of modge podge before tracing or drawing their character on the glass. Would you recommend this?
Not really. I don't see anything wrong with it, but it really isn't a necessary step.
Im going to start doing glass painting do you have any tips for finding the right colors?
I would use a good brand like Golden or Liquitex acrylic paint.
If you layer your paint will that still cause the lines to break or crack because if you layer you’re letting it dry before putting more on, I haven’t used acrylic in a while and I don’t remember if I need to wet my brush or not but would it still technically have the thin dry layer on the bottom that could cause cracking?
Did bro mentioned Deadpool and wolverine?
I also use the tester paints what do you use to clean your brushes im having issues with it either sticking to the brush or it looks clean and it bleeds the previous color into the new color
Bro! I'm about to solve your problem, RIGHT NOW!!! Do what I do. Use the testors paint thinner. After using the brush, dip the bristols into the thinner, shake off the paint and use another color if you like. Amazing paintings! Do you trace over references or sketch the reference out may I ask?
No need to sketch the reference out. It’s like adding twice the work. I have too many commission request to add extra work, lol. I trace Over the reference. I already know I can draw it if I want to, so I have nothing to prove. Tracing the reference means I can get my commissions and just the work in general done quicker.

Sakura identi twin tip marker reaily oil based in glass painting

I've to make for my friend but bit confused about color can you please please tell me can I use camel fabrica paint instead of acrylic paint?? Thank you 😊
I don't know what kinds of paint you can use do you need to use acrylic or can you use any other that suits you best
I use acrylic paints for some and testors enamel paints for others.
Can I use alcoholic based marker with acrylic paint?
@@dab-dab903 a regular sharpie or an identipen would work for the lines. But the oil based sharpie still is the most effective in terms of opacity.
I did as you said, as I used the identi pen with the acrylic paint and my lines are disappearing. I redid my glass painting twice because of this...do you have any more advice that I could use to allow my lines to stay?
Your paint is too thin. I’ll almost bet you’re using cheap paint, like that “craft” brand or the “folk” brand. Use a thicker paint.
What is the size of the glass to be used for glass painting? Or like the ideal size
I use 5x7 for the small ones (My usual) and 8x10 for the larger ones.

Hi Monica. You don’t turn it. You paint it on the same side you drew the lines on.

With posca can’t you just wait for it to dry and set? Or maybe just heat set it?
It’s not good to use with acrylic paints. Enamel paints, yes. Acrylic paints no.
