    - About Dr. Mary Claire Haver and The Galveston Diet -
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a passionate women’s health advocate who believes women in midlife deserve to live their best life. She cuts through fat-shaming and fads, so women are empowered with the science behind anti-inflammation nutrition.
Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a wife, mom, physician, and entrepreneur who has devoted her adult life to women’s health. As a Board-Certified OBGYN in the Houston area, Dr. Haver has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and did everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do.
As her patient population aged, Dr. Haver was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn't until she experienced the changes of menopause and mid-life weight gain that she realized this advice doesn't work and ultimately led to her creating and developing a new program, The Galveston Diet.
The Galveston Diet is the first and only nutrition program created by a Female OBGYN, designed for women in menopause. The Galveston Diet helps women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition. Dr. Haver believes in food's power to combat inflammation and highly recommends the unlimited benefits of intermittent fasting. As part of her ongoing research, she became certified in Culinary Medicine in 2019, specializing in medical nutrition.

I will look for information to join you on this diet . Thank you for all that you do. You are opening our eyes you can’t get this info from any dr out there . If u talk about weight they really don’t have a clue it just gets dismissed even peri menopause gets dismissed. Thank you 💕

Great video Dr! This makes so much sense. I’ve struggled with Hashimoto’s for years and losing weight is SO hard. How can I find out how many hours and which times intermittent fasting will work best for me?

  • @gusabuga

T1 Diabetics can *with doctor guidance" do intermittent fasting, I actually find that IF along with anti-inflamatoy, low-ish carb diet massively helps my A1c. With these two strategies, (along with regular exercise) I can keep my A1c in the mid 5 range.

Hello Dr Mary, I like to add one to two extended fasts (42 hour fast) per week for autophagy. Do you recommend doubling up on omega 3 following an extended fast?

I have a question about what you said about intermittent fasting helping with Alzheimer's, etc. this question is for my mom. What if she has to eat to take certain meds and this doesn't allow for the normal intermittent fasting time cycle? I'd really like to learn how to help her because the medications are causing too much weight gain and she is immobile for the most part.

Know this information but love your energy and twist on clarifying further. 49$ / month and assuming American.
Aside from nutrient rich foods with Omega 3, have you a "supplement" for those days of inavaiability ie) travel, grocery accessibility, etc.

What's the difference between the Galveston diet and the Keto diet? I lost 70lbs on the Keto diet...got bored and wanted more variety...then gained back 20 lbs. I could use your help, but it sounds a lot like the Keto diet.

Good question! We are very different than the "butter and bacon" Keto diet. Our plan focuses on an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition, which is so important as we age!

And the sick thing is if the government took away all these foods and additives, people would have a shit fit. I understand people want to be able to have choices, but the truth is many are not nutritionally educated, to know what they are consuming.

Your family needs genetic testing. I have a family history of familial adenomatous polyposis, which is high risk for colon cancer. My siblings and I were all tested. Two of us negative. My youngest sibling was positive and, in fact, had cancerous polyps removed at age 21. My negative test means that my children don't have to be tested (thankfully).

We don't have any data on what fasting might do to milk production. If your milk supply is well established (>2 months), you could give it a try and start fasting later.

It also include the Companion Guide and the Daily Recharge Journal which sold for $20 each.
