Longtime follower Jimmy, that owner of the RV what a great guy! Totally genuine and big hearted. looks like you have made a lifelong friend now in him!
Jimmy I am a retired truck driver and owner operator. At one time on one of my trucks I had a similar problem with not being able to obtain an RPM over 1500 rpm, i believe it was, and I found out that there is a low rpm and a high rpm sensor. Once the rpm sensor was replaced the engine run fine. I don't recall right off hand which one it was that went bad but it was one of the two. Now I don't know if your motor home is set the same way but it's worth looking in to. After all, "WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG". LOL. Love your videos so keep up the good work. Sincerely, Jack P.S. Also I am a dual military service Vet, (6yrs Navy and 7yrs Air Force), so I would also like to thank you for all the great work and help that your doing for veterans. I'm proud of you. Thank You.
Jimmy if that rv has been sat with that same diesel for 4 years it's a really good idea to change the fuel filters as they probably have algae in them, also bung some injector cleaner directly in new filters before installing them. Just my advise from past experience.
What a nice guy Mark is really appreciate seeing you and him work together and that's what happens when something sits around for a while you have problems but you guys are going to work out.
What a wonderful plan to provide this RV for someone in need. And…finally a machine that I know, after years as a service manager for RV service center. I have a similar Diesel pusher and you are absolutely correct that the hammer is the best tool! Any tool in my hands eventually becomes a hammer. As I’m sure your friend mentioned, the engine is in derate mode because of the check engine light. You do need the code. It could be an engine temp sensor, an oil pressure sensor or any number of other sensors that would cause this situation. Generally it will turn out to be something simple but because the rv has set for so long it’s a crap shoot to find the issue without an engine scanner. BUT a warning…when you get it running DONT drive it any further than the nearest tire center! RV tires, especially 22.5 inch motorhome tires never really wear out. But they do expire. And since it has set for so long the tires won’t be safe. Hope this helps…”it’ll be fine”.

I don't really know diesels too well, but just some food for thought regarding it not wanting to rev past 1200. It could just not rev past 1200, but will go past 1200 when in gear. That's how my truck is, anyway, put the pedal all the way down while in neutral, and it'll go up to 1200 and not any higher, just like the tach did in the RV. If it /wanted/ to go higher, but couldn't because of a fuel problem, it would attempt and stumble (at least in a gasoline powered car).
I loved your response when the owner said "You need to pump it" and you said "On a diesel?". You let it go at that and humored him. As a diesel mechanic, there is no accelerator pump in a diesel engine so your can "pump" the throttle all you want but it will do nothing. You get the same results by just applying a little bit of throttle to increase the fuel flow. I cannot tell you how often I hear guys in RV parks pump their throttles before attempting to start.

What an arduous project! It will help someone in need, so more power (literally) to ya! My 1989 Dodge Daytona flashed the codes when you turned on the ignition (without starting) and pumped the gas 5 times, and the manual had the code table.
Bless you. I have a son who was in the army 7 years ..3 weeks after his 18th birthday he was in basic, 1 month after he got to his duty station..his unit deployed to Iraq. Kuwait, Bahrain.. Afghanistan..his MOS was morterman..anyway. My son came back a different young man. He suffers from PTSD and basically is homeless by choice. Very nomadic existence. I often think about how nice it would be if I could afford to get him an RV. Even a small one. Than I would know he has a roof over his head ...😞😞.. thankyou for being so generous and thoughtful towards vets ..who deserve it so much.
Hey Jimmy it’s a diesel so as a diesel mechanic you must change the fuel filters. A lot of times a diesel will run but won’t turn up due too lack of fuel flow. I change filters regularly on road calls due too semi trucks loss of power and not be Ewing able to get up too speed. Since it has been sitting for so long the filters need to be changed anyway and are probably a issue, keep up the good work
You should stock up on fuses plus a few of those 175's just in case. I think what your doing is awesome. I'll be praying for y'all and for this to be minor from sitting. Listen you've had planes sitting out in the weather for a hell of allot longer and they ran so I've got allot of confidence in you
Jimmy I had my pick up do the same thing and the problem was a relay Once I replace the relay and it started right up good luck and I hope you get it running
On the transmission shift pad, if you hold down the + and - button for a few seconds it should say OL (for oil level) and then I should tell you if it’s low or high or just where you want it
Best hand cleaner is Tub O Towels. Hands down. Ive had my hands black from grease from tip to elbow. Two sheets and spotless. Cool idea with the coffee grounds! Thanks for everything you do btw! Dig the kindness.
Wipe out the ECM codes, disconnect all power sources, hit horn to clear out all codes. Try driving it if you can probably o2 upstream downstream sensors, clean out MAF sensor (diode) with carb cleaner.
Hi Jimmy, I used to own an old RV much like this one, it had sat for two years and I had a lot of electrical problems with it. It was a nightmare trying to figure it out. Good luck!.
Make 100% sure that you have all the power and ground wires hooked up to the batteries the way they came off. I spent 23 years working on school buses and I can't tell you how many times someone would miss a wire or cable when changing batteries and have issues. You may have got all of them back on but double checking never hurts. Good luck on getting the motor home going.
You are a Jewel Mr. Vega with the Big Heart. Blessings Brother. Jimmy it takes a Big Heart to know one , Great to see Love for our fellow Humans coming Back. Love wins every time.
You'll need the engine size & model numbers.& Code numbers off of it to for getting the replacement starter just A fast Heads up. Cause if you go through all of that work.& Spend the money on the relay fuse you might as well buy A replacement starter for the generator to.
Man as a desiel/gas mechanic I wish I could just talk to ya while working on stuff like this don't know jack about planes (unless you have said it) but know a decent amount about regular motors always wish ya the best of luck.
Fuel filter had the exact same problem with mine it's that for a year and a half it would rev up to a certain point stop. Change the fuel filters put some conditioner in ran it for a while fine the new owners took it on a 3000 Mile Drive no problems
Mice and other critters can cause plenty of damage in rv storage. They chew wiring and insulation.I tried many things but mouse stick trays work the best. You just have to keep replacing them. Check the engine air filters for nests. You got your work cut out for you.
I have the same coach but with the cat 3126 engine. The 5 amp fuses on the 3 relays in the rear of the battery compartment are likely the start problem. Seriously consider changing out the fuel after 3 years or you may damage the pump and injectors and that will not be cheap. Best wishes for this project. They are great coaches. It looks like the 380 mbs with Cummins
Excellent video! Entertaining as well! Great repartee! I was thinking Battery Disconnect right before Andrew said it! 😉 Nice rig once you get her running! All the very best going forward!

I often think about how nice it would be if I could afford to get him an RV. Even a small one. Than I would know he has a roof over his head ...😞😞.. thankyou for being so generous and thoughtful towards vets ..who deserve it so much.
The Sportscoach is a great machine! What a awesome addition to the JW Fleet
Hey Jimmy it’s a diesel so as a diesel mechanic you must change the fuel filters. A lot of times a diesel will run but won’t turn up due too lack of fuel flow. I change filters regularly on road calls due too semi trucks loss of power and not be
Ewing able to get up too speed. Since it has been sitting for so long the filters need to be changed anyway and are probably a issue, keep up the good work
Do a vice grip garage special, add battery, gas, air tyres, don’t check brakes and drive 800 miles.
He is a good dude.
Thats dangerous for a family man dont ya think?
@@dinho890i yeah but gets u out of a bind mate ✌️🇬🇧
Bhaaahaahaa
Want it
Nice little change of direction Jimmy, this guy is reading your charitable vibs, good on both of you!
Good morning jimmy. Glad your still makin content
That is a seriously generous donation.
Get a colab with Mustie going, he'll bring that engine back to life!
bus grease monkey
You should stock up on fuses plus a few of those 175's just in case. I think what your doing is awesome. I'll be praying for y'all and for this to be minor from sitting. Listen you've had planes sitting out in the weather for a hell of allot longer and they ran so I've got allot of confidence in you
Nice bus. The owner was a very giving person and the bus is worth 35,000+hopefully you can share it with numerous families in need
Dawndish liquid and sugar also works amazingly well and its easy on the skin. Gonna have to try the coffee grounds. Love what you do Jimmy. Never Stop
Not exactly a turn key donation, hopefully you’ll get it going for a good cause. That hammer is a magic wand 👍🏻
Jimmy I had my pick up do the same thing and the problem was a relay Once I replace the relay and it started right up good luck and I hope you get it running
The fuel pump relay?
On the transmission shift pad, if you hold down the + and - button for a few seconds it should say OL (for oil level) and then I should tell you if it’s low or high or just where you want it
Best hand cleaner is Tub O Towels. Hands down. Ive had my hands black from grease from tip to elbow. Two sheets and spotless. Cool idea with the coffee grounds! Thanks for everything you do btw! Dig the kindness.
Thank you for the video and thank you to the gentleman that donated the RV.
Jimmy! Check the fuel filters- there’s probably two of them.
Wipe out the ECM codes, disconnect all power sources, hit horn to clear out all codes. Try driving it if you can probably o2 upstream downstream sensors, clean out MAF sensor (diode) with carb cleaner.
shouldn't pump that much the pedal when trying to start it slightly no more than 3 times otherwise you flood it with diesel
Super guy, Thank you for your compassion.
Love the early 2000s f150 tail lights
Wow what a heroes story thank you 🙏🏼 so much for sharing an blessing our military families! Awesomeness love it 🥰
Jimmy you
Are an absolute saint for helping these destitute people well done and keep up
The precious work my friend
Man as a desiel/gas mechanic I wish I could just talk to ya while working on stuff like this don't know jack about planes (unless you have said it) but know a decent amount about regular motors always wish ya the best of luck.
I have so much honor and respect for this guy. Jersey city is no joke.
You should have brought in Derek Berry from vice grip garage. It would be fun to see you two together on the same screen.
That would be fun!
What a lovley man, giving that away to someone in need
Another good hand cleaner is dawn detergent with baking soda.
If its low add a little oil and run it to evaporate the moisture out
I have the same coach but with the cat 3126 engine.
Sounds like it's in limp mode check the engine light code to diagnose but sounds to me like a fuelling or intake issue.
what a great guy thank you for being kind to people in need
Excellent video! Entertaining as well! Great repartee! I was thinking Battery Disconnect right before Andrew said it! 😉 Nice rig once you get her running! All the very best going forward!
