      My first landing on the mun was filled with quicksaves and disaster. I ended up not having enough fuel to deorbit my lander so I used some of my last stage's fuel to do it. I landed safely but didn't have enough fuel to escape the mun's orbit after planting the flag. I sent a rescue craft, but had trouble with fuel again, and ended up landing over 5 kilometers away from the original craft. Because I had 3 kerbals that needed saving, I didn't want to Eva all of them 5 kilometers, so I ended up just taking off with the original lander and crashlanding it right next to the rescue lander. It was the dumbest thing I did and after a couple reloads I got it to work. They made it home safely.

      Spyblox007 your Mun mission sounds hilariously similar to my first Mun mission. (I just got the game this week since it was on sale)
      My lander also ended up stranded with shortage of fuel. The difference is that my rescue mission lander had an unholy amount of spare tanks strapped radially to it that I used to refuel the core tank, and ditched on the Mun when I left. The other difference is that this massive amount of spare fuel enabled me to land 260 meters away from the first craft, and easily EVA the Kerbals over to it.
      I also launched a third Mun mission because I forgot to plant a flag either of the other two times, but it was uneventful and went perfectly

    idea for a video (i don't have discord so i'll just leave it here): what if you where to make a little rover, wich kan hop between plannets? in orbit there is a little craft wich it docks to when in space, it flies to a other planet, it undocks, it lands, does sience, and takes of again. it can refuel on the planets, and an engineer can reset the landing ecuipment. it fits in with the small station theme, and i think it would be fun having this little 2-3 kerbals craft being exposed to the heats of moho, and the icey colds of eeloo. if you like it, like so matt (hopefuly) sees it.

    Matt, my boy, is this your first time playing KSP? 0:56 what is Jool’s atmosphere? Dear lad, green gas in space can clearly only be the evaporated remnants of a tasty, tasty, delicious, likely minty, dessert. A scoop of it escaped that tragic fate and was sent flinging towards Kerbin hundreds, possibly even several of hundreds, years ago and was caught in the perfect -25 °C orbit. Did you know, when it rains on Jool, it rains chocolate chips!

  • @kevinzheng7373
    @kevinzheng7373 4 года назад +1

    Dunno if you know this, Matt, but an Mk1-2 command pod or the Mk2 Lander can with 2 pilots can act as a remote probe command unit. What this does is that if the probe doesn't have a connection to the KSC but has a connection to the Mk1-2 command pod directly, the probe still has full control capabilities. So, you don't need the mothership to act as a relay, it can just control your science bomb or whatever else probe you might decide to deploy directly.
    If you have one of those 1.25 meter round probe core or the 2.5 meter round probe core (don't know their specific names) and you also have a command pod with a pilot kerbal that's not the Mk1-2 or the Mk2 it will still be a probe command unit.
    An easy example of this is if you have a space station say, in Eeloo orbit with a 2.5 meter round probe core and a coupla module with a pilot kerbal in it, you can control a probe you send down to the surface of Eeloo even if either the space station nor the probe has a connection to the KSC, as long as the probe is connected to the space station, you will have full control.
    This is useful when you don't want the weight of a heavy communotron weighing down your mothership or your probe lander. This is also useful if you are landing a probe near a surface base on the dark side of a planet or moon, the surface base can control the probe instead of having to have a heavy relay network to beam comms around the planet/moon.

Unfortunately, Jeb got cabin fever and lost his mind, convincing the other two to go out on an EVA for "science" before initiating a burn that left them forever floating in the blackness of space. By the time he got back to Kerbal he had completely lost his mind and exited the craft as it descended, landing on the tarmac at the space center. Brave souls, all three. Tragic what happened.
