So you mentioned that the purpose of the Laythe missions was to determine why Laythe is so similar to Kerbin despite it's distance from the sun. One explanation could be that as Laythe orbits Jool, the immense tidal forces exerted by Jool on Laythe stretches and squeezes the core of the planet like a rubber band, producing lots of geothermal energy that allows Laythe to be warm. This is a similar process to what happens to Europa, a moon that orbits Jupiter. Satellite scans have shown that beneath Europa's icy crust there is a 100km thick ocean that is kept warm by the geothermal energy of the moon
I love your content man, keep doing it I wish I could build like that Edit: Matt, thanks so much for the heart, and I really mean it, you’re an awesome content creator
All you have to do is practice man, once you make your first successful Kerbin to Eve or Duna transfer, the complexity of your crafts will skyrocket. Put restrictions on yourself as well, like making missions faster. In real life, how long astronauts spend in space is an important consideration so try and make your missions last a realistic amount of time, and you'll have to come up with some weird engineering to make do.
i swear. all of your videos are the most relaxing videos i've ever seen. watching your kerbal videos has become my daily routine for when i get home from work and just need to relax. thank for the amazing content.
The whole reason Laythe is so similar to Kerbin is probably due to tidal heating. Even though it’s far away from the sun. The gravity of Jool pulls on the moon creating friction that creates heat. This could cause a similar atmosphere.
@Nathan Meunier That's not what he meant by tidal heating, it is when the tides vary throughout its orbit, causing friction that generates heat. This is similar to how Jupiter's moon Europa has liquid water and an oxygenated atmosphere.
I’ve been developing seaplanes myself recently and it’s actually a lot of fun! Most of my designs (except one) have been “flying boat” style designs, and I’ve even built a few SSTOs based off of my designs. Your seaplane is really pretty but I’m amazed it can take off even if it does need the closed cycle, I find without floats or a hull structure with a step-shape, it’s really hard to make them take off without either having very powerful engines, and I also find they need canards at the front to get lift. I guess the hull shape at the bottom works even without a step on your design. Either way, this is an amazing design and I love the wings.
