RSS turns the traditional Kerbol system into the irl Solar System. It takes much more delta-v to get to most places. In fact, it takes more than 7000 m/s of delta v to get from the ground into low earth orbit. For comparison, it only takes about 2,500-3,000 m/s to get into low kerbin orbit. It is often played in a form called RSS/RO, which adds more realism than is already in the Real Solar System mod by adding more parameters and other such processes to keep track of.
