      DSR, downscaling from 4k to 1080p with dlss perf. can create great resaults on 1080p. Its perfect for 4070 and full hd monitors. Eliminates cpu bottlenecks, adds huge amount of quality AA and creates density that is not present at native 1080p.. 1440p monitors dont respond so well to 4k downsamling like 1080p that has pixel ratio 1:1 with 4k. I would even say that 1080p monitor can look better with DSR/VSR than 1440p in certain type of games. Its works the best with large 1080p monitors like 27 or more...

      @@roki977 yup. You have to keep that pixel ratio at 1:1. Just have to find the right resolution for this DSR trick if you're on 1440p. I'm sure it'll result in better visuals as well.

    Looks like they intend for gamers to use upscaling and/or framegen in modern games. And I agree, after going to freesync 1440p monitors and seeing how nice upscaling works, I don't see any reason for 1080p monitors anymore. 1440p monitors can be had really cheap now, in many cases as cheap as 1080p monitors. So It almost looks like they are phasing out 1080p monitors. I don't think they will though, but I think more and more PC gamers will transition to 1440p and 4K monitors in the future.

    • @theivadim
      @theivadim  Месяц назад +1

      I agree. 1440p is the way to go. You can use the same GPU as you would to game at 1080p. Just use DLSS at 1440p to get similar FPS and better image quality. I've stopped recommending 1080p monitor. Only 1440p and above.🙂

      @@theivadim yeah. Since I have two setups with 165Hz 1440p freesync monitors I watch your videos and test on my setups. My weakest system has an RTX 4060 and my main system is using an RX 7800 XT. With upscaling I make the RTX 4060 setup work nicely on 1440p in modern games. My only gripe is 8GB vram. But turning down textures mostly fixes this. RX 7800 XT can handle native 1440p in the games I have. But upscaling is nice if I want more FPS or for future games even on that rig.

    On PC there have pretty much always been games that push the boundaries and can't run well even on the latest modern hardware but those games are outliers. You can't just look at the outliers and say the RTX 4070 is suddenly a 1080p gaming card because it has trouble running one of the most demanding games out at 1440p and even 1080p depending on the settings. Certain games I believe are designed to sell new graphics cards.

    As much as I dislike Nvidia's approach to the upscaling and Vram, the problem here is not the GCU, some devs just don't give a F about optimization; Nixxes managed to make Ghost of Tushima run in ULTRA and Native at over 70 fps.
    Some devs are just relying too much on upscaling

    • @CedricBassman
      @CedricBassman Месяц назад +1

      I mean Nvidias Vram approach is fine. Less Vram sure, but compared to AMD Cards they also use less Vram while delivering the same performance.
      Where a 4070S uses 9GB for example, a comparable AMD Card uses 13-14GB of 16 available. The Nvidia Cards also usually use 30-50% less power.
      You can find those tests all over YT.
      So it's not really the size of the Vram but how the architecture is utilizing it, and in that department AMD simply uses the "Quantity over Quality" approach.
      Also thanks for being in the minority of people who call out the real root of the Problem, that being developers who are lazy and skip optimization. Which is a increasing occurence in triple A games for years now. But somehow that is always overlooked in these debates.

    is that a Steel Series control type Mousepad? 🐁
    In raw 1080p realm, imho, is the best for those who do competitive esport titles where higher FPS and minimal latency input lag are extremely crucial to give you that last drop squeeze of edge apart from the skill ceiling.
    Of course you, one would need to pair the rig with the highest refresh rate 23-24" 1080p monitor (for comprehensive field of view) you can afford to match the FPS the system is generating.
    For non competitive folks like myself, 1080p High can still be nice for budget folks. Though I had just sacrificed that for a High/Medium setting at 1440p nowadays, so I can record video at native crispy 1440p. LOL 🌶

    This is horrible. I don't have such high end hardware but I feel like there's no hope for the upcoming games and future of gaming anymore as they will force Ray Tracing more and more and rely everything on the upscaler and frame generator. Unreal Engine games often do this. And Low settings often make less or no difference at all compared to Epic settings which makes sense for no fps improvements that much. This is very unhealthy habit. Even Low settings makes no improvement then that's it, everything is screwed. And I would disagree with you that 1440p monitors are getting "cheaper". No, they are still expensive these days, they may get cheaper but very slow to wait that making use of 1080p monitors at this time are still relevant. At least double or more than double the price than 1080p monitors. If that's what it takes to get 60 fps plus all of the time on 1080p, I would definitely take the DLSS experience as the DLSS quality also keep getting better and better. I have been living like this for years and already get used to it so not a big problem for me. Making a switch to 1440p would be an absolute blast but that's just a wishful thinking for now. It would take a long journey for that to happen. The real problem here is the horrendously optimized games and lack of VRAM. And I don't think DLSS Quality on 1440p will get you similar frames as the 1080p on native. DLSS or upscalers in general ain't free performance boost either, they needs the processing power to operate on its own despite coming from the "lowres" internally. Looking at how newer and higher end GPUs also struggling like this, we can be comfortable a bit to not upgrade too often or at least support these planned obsolescence. The best option for now is to be selective with what games you play and don't expecting too much. You would be disappoint. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      @@KamilWyszynski1924 exactly, well that's not true I get a stable 60+ fps in native 4k with my strix 4080 super. Ray tracing is what makes it go below that. A 4090 can even play alan wake over 60fps in native 4k. So yeah you can game in native 4k mainstream media shows you it with every single setting maxed out rven ray tracing. That def doesn't mske it not a 4k card. You can play almost every game out on a 4080 super and 4090 in native 4k ultra without ray tracing and using just high settings makes them all over 100fps most of the time. About 50% of games you can get over 120fps in native 4k.
      But my point was all games are demanding now so it's tough.

      But the xtx and 4080 super are trying to play at their marketed resolution. They can do 1440p which is a tier below very well.
      The 4070 a tier below it's marketed resolution at 1080p is still struggling. There's a complete difference in your comparison.
      It's okay to state these performances from this "midrange" card is underwhelming, nothing is going to happen. It's poor 😂.
      You think 40 FPS and below 60 FPS with not even maxed out settings is acceptable or "is doing great"?..what the....

    The highest RT setting are ridiculous and not worth it in most games. Also, these games are lame as hell... hood black woman simulator, race-swap Alan Wake and then schizo simulator, which does look nice but is incredibly boring as a game.

      To each their own. Hellblade 2 is the best single-player game I’ve played in what feels like forever. The original Dead Space is on the same level. I haven’t played the remake yet, but it’s on my list.

      @@theivadim Yeah, to each their own 😂... For being full price games, they're objectively lacking. You can also prefer an Apple earpod over better priced, higher quality IEMs. It's that mediocre normie mentality.
