  • In this PART 2 video you'll see how my dad (Jeff) and I (Adam) went about build the horizontal stabilizer for the Zenith 750 Cruzer Experimental kit plane we're building. The horizontal stabilizer is the part of the airplane tail that sticks out horizontally (hence the name) and is used to stabilize the aircraft in flight and provide a solid structure on which to attach the elevator (the moving control surface that makes the plane go up and down).

    Please put the camera down, its soooo jerky. we dont need to follow your head as you talk. You can stand in the shot and it doesn't make us suffer motion sickness. Otherwise, great channel, Sub'd!

      @@jeffandadambuildazenith6816 Its just that when you hold the camera, its a bit jerky and all over the place. After a while you start to feel a little motion sick. I understand you need to show us close up shots sometimes but maybe get a stabilized camera mount or something to smooth it out? This would probably solve it.

    Looks good. I am also building a Cruzer, did you perform the updates to the stab per the service bulletins?

    • @jeffandadambuildazenith6816
      @jeffandadambuildazenith6816  3 года назад

      Thanks! Yes, we are in the process of doing that now. Reskinning it with the thicker skin and adding rivets in the ribs, and extra hinges.

    It looks like you missed the October 3 design update for the horizontal stabilizer. Ouch.

      Thanks for the heads up. What was updated?

      @@jeffandadambuildazenith6816 At least two flying Cruzers developed cracks in the leading edge skins. The Zenith fix has three parts. (1) replace the horizontal stabilizer skin with .025", or add a .016" doubler on the leading edge. (2) increase the number of skin-rib rivets, one in between each existing rivet. (3) extend the elevator hinge to the full width of the stab.
      Honestly, I don't know where the link to the PDF is on Zenith's web site. I'm sure they'd send it to you if you ask. I also recommend joining the online community at www.zenith.aero. I'll see if I can't email you the PDF.

    Please explain the corrosion treatment, did you do it on the other side of the horizontal stab ?? Or just the side that was open ?? Any treatment on the fuselage ??

    • @jeffandadambuildazenith6816
      @jeffandadambuildazenith6816  5 лет назад +1

      Hi! On the H stab we applied corrosionX to all the mating surfaces. Mostly no treatment on the fuselage. But we plan to use corossionX spray system after it's fully assembled.
