Hey Nasir! I had 3 rejections straight away and only had one interview. And I mainly used the medic portal and your videos to prepare. And I actually got an offer!!!!! So thank you SO MUCH for all of your amazing and very informative videos, because they really did help me. Also thank you for talking the time to make these videos, you truly are a nice and caring person for doing all of this. Once again I cannot express my gratitude and I have recommended your videos to some of my friends who have also applied for medicine.
Britney Herrera Heyyy! I mainly volunteered at nursing homes as you had to be 18 to get experience at the hospital/GP in my area and unfortunately I only turned 18 after submitting my ucas. The other experience was at a drugs and alcohol rehab mental health program run by the NHS and that was really good and useful. In my interview I mainly referred to my experience from the rehab program as it changed allot of my previous views on mental health concerned around these scenarios. I hope this helps 😊
I wanted to thank you for all the videos you posted about the UCAT and MMI tips, I've received an offer a few days ago and I don't think I would have been able to prepare everything without your help :) .
I had to come on here and say thank you for making these super informative (and easy to watch) videos. I watched all of your mmi preparedness videos and got an offer to my dream school! Thank you again!
Thank you for these wonderful videos! This one made me think of a funny story related to communicating bad news after the demise of a pet under one's care: I was not part of this story, but heard it after the fact. When I was in home nursing, we had a client that a wonderful care aide got a beautiful Chinese Fighting Fish (?) for. "Sparky" lived in a bowl on the client's dining table where they could both see the TV, and he was "The smartest fish ever!". The client had to go on a trip, and the sweet care aide volunteered (with the permission of management), to stop in and feed Sparky each day. As Murphy's Law would have it, she came in one day and Sparky was belly-up in the bowl. The care aide quickly took Sparky's lifeless body to the pet shop and purchased another expensive body double, who was then moved into the real Sparky's home. When the client returned home and commented that "Sparky's" color seemed dull, she was told that he had been depressed while she was gone. Perhaps not the best example of authentic communication, but the illusion was complete, and Sparky (two) was reportedly happy with the arrangement. Thanks again for your wonderful channel!
I think something that no one has really touched upon is... Brexit Implications on the NHS... although quite specific... i feel it is very current and could maybe be applied to stations such as ‘tell us about a news story you have read recently’ Thanks for ur help :)
Sheffield interview in 4 hours and I’m terrified but your videos will get me through to do my best and put me in the best position I could be in. Thanks as ever ❤️
@@KharmaMedic could've gone a lot better haha. The questions were hard and they didn't give any prep time. I'm just hoping the other candidates did worse than me lol! The role-play was alright though!

The process of applying for medicine can be a bit soul destroying at times and you sharing you experience really showed that everyone have gone through the same process, is in the same boat and that it is possible :) Best wishes

Hey Nasir, great video! Very helpful. I’ve just received an invitation to interview at Kings College and I am feeling over the moon. Keep up the great videos! 😊
Hey! Great video. My medical school does have a scenario where we have to tell a patient bad news. I’m totally going to use your tips in my interview though !
Thank you so much Nasir🤩i found this video just in time and handy. since i have my medicine osce tomorrow i needed to revise this so that I don't mess up. Thank you for making such a clear and straight video✨🌟
I really need help with this interview question! I do have an answer but I just don't think it's convincing. If you can please help me. The question is: How do you cope with moving from an environment where you were one of the best to one where everyone has similar abilities to you? What would your answer be Kharma Medic????? HELP
@@KharmaMedic thanks! Honestly, i dont think it went too well, but I did just get an offer from Sheffield! Thanks for everything man, your videos help so much
@@habibollahsaliani9383 tbh my biggest piece of advice would be stay calm and be yourself. They have you talk to a patient at one point and you can’t let the convo seem like a script of premade questions, keep the convo flowing and you’ll smash it. Other than that, make sure you know the nhs key principles, read the nhs constitution and know the 4 pillars of medical ethics and try to relate them to your answers if you can. As you can see I thought my interview went awful because I didn’t realise there was a back page of questions on the ethics station so I left it blank but I still got an offer (alhamdulillah) so don’t overthink anything. If one station goes bad move onto the next with your head held high and treat it like a separate thing. Be open and honest and treat it like a conversation. Also if you go onto the blackstone tutors website you can find all the questions on there, they matched the interviews for last year and the year before that and they don’t change them much year to year so it should be reliable. Good luck, you got this!!
Hello! Just want to know when we go into the role-play station, do we have to greet the actor and the interviewer or do we just get into the scenario straight away? Also, if the scenario involves the actor being my friend, do I still have to ask them for their names? Thanks!!! :)))
Hi. How was ur interview at hull york? what questions did u get asked and what were the scenario and group tasks like? I would really appreciate any sort of response brother.
Hi, so the things you said in the video would only last under a minute but you would have to speak for more than 5 minutes! Also how much preparation would you recommend for an mmi interview?
Definitely wouldn't be a minute. It's a conversation with a lot of back and forth. You listen to what they say and build off of that as well. What I said are just some of the things to say and think about. And id recommend as much as possible!
I have a general Q. I have not done long term volunteering anywhere unless you count feeding the homeless nor have I done hospital or gp work but I have read a book about the experience and thought I could say I am aware of the struggles and perhaps the limitations I have given no actual experience. I have as part of NCS worked with old ppl and have done baby sitting so could I possibly get an interview offer
No worries! If you feel that it is appropriate at the time I don't see anything wrong with that (unless otherwise told e.g. not to touch the actors in the role play stations)
@@KharmaMedic, thank you for the instant reply. My interview is approaching and all your videos are extremely helpful... You are very inspirational for all of us at this threshold of our lives.
Doesn’t this depend on the person? Me personally if my friend runs over my pet or break my favourite mug I couldn’t care less about “verbal” or “emotional” support. I’m mad at my friend and I don’t wanna talk to them. The only mode of support I want is for them to compensate for my loss. Like buy me a new cat or mug…doesn’t bring back the dead kitty or broken mug but it’s sth practical
Hey found your Channel whilst preparing for ukcat but I applied for dentistry instead of medicine. Do you know if the interviews are similar and if watching these types of videos are beneficial?
Me and my friend studied together for our respective medical and dental MMIs in Canada and we asked eachother the same types of questions. But of course you can just tailor the questions to fit dentistry instead of med and vice versa 🙂
I'm going to take the interview in 2 weeks. Still can't wrap my head around the station where you have to fire someone. Any tips? (uni has a history of recycling MMI stations )
Interesting I've never heard of that. I'd say be compassionate, don't beat around the bush, be clear and give explanations / a reason if you can. Offer advice and support on next steps / what's available for them. Also Google this! I'm sure there's plenty of advice out there 🙂
The fact that you said, "You might think losing a pet is stupid" really took me aback. Of course, there are sociopaths out there who don't understand that the death of thinking, feeling, living being with a personality who was a loved one would be horrible. But you saying that implies to me that you expect lots of medical students to have--or you yourself have--an anthropocentric view making any non-human animal an object, a view that is arbitrary, ignorant, and arrogant. I'm not saying that YOU are those things, but that statement does make me suspicious.
