    Is there a specific breaking bad news scenario you’re preparing for or need some help with? Do you need some more advice about how to implement SPIKES for medical or dentistry interviews? Let us know here and we’ll point you in the right direction!

      Hi! This video was so helpful, thank you! I was wondering how the SPIKES system would work in a scenario where you break bad news to a friend, for example the roleplay of looking after a friends cat whilst they're on holiday and you accidentally run it over and have to break the bad news?

    this is brilliant but one thing that i would say is that i seems as though the doctor spoke immediately after the patient had stopped. whilst this might not be a bad thing, i feel as though you may be in a position where the patient wants to add something and so leaving a short pause before you speak may be useful in ensuring that you don't cut them off.

    This was so useful! My interview is in a couple of weeks so this was really great to work from and match with other scenarios. THANK YOU!

    I have an interview in 5 days. It’s online so not sure if they’ll ask these type of questions. But it was very helpful!

    Basically just sound empathetic and say "given the nature of the injury..."

    • @theMSAG
      @theMSAG  3 года назад +7

      Empathy is definitely needed for roleplays. I would suggest it is about making sure the patient/actor feels heard, rather than going in with a pre-prepared speach. The approach is what you can prepare for.
