    In this situation, is it okay to say that they have given antibiotics because of a patient with a similar sounding name. Isn't that unnecessarily risking patient confidentiality? They may be able to track it back to a patient on the ward and therefore know that the patient has a bacterial infection/could have been in contact with bacteria, which is confidential. Would it be better just to say that they have given antibiotics incorrectly?

      Interesting point and can't say I disagree. At a certain point though it does come down to splitting hairs as each morning patients are discussed on the ward round in full earshot of everyone else on the ward. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that you're right.

      @@drollie Thanks for your response. Your videos are incredibly useful. I am currently applying for medicine in the UK right now and had my 4th interview today. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of your videos, so a massive thank you for helping so many of us!

    At the end of this specific scenario, would there be anything wrong with mentioning that the patient is free to contact PALS/ make a formal complaint?

      @drollie  11 месяцев назад +1

      Not at all, I think that would be a great end to the consultation.

    can we make assumptions that you have, such as ' we don't think they've done you any harm from our observations' in the interview, as this information was not provided, sorry if this question feels silly kdsjksjdkjs i've got my interview in a few days now and i'm getting nervous

      Personally i wouldnt say that as you dont know if thats true and we shouldnt make false promises. Instead just listen use good body language and say we are going to do some tests to find out if its caused any issues which we can then treat if needed. It wouldnt be the end of the world if you said that tho. I have a medicine interview tomorrow aswell, good luck!

      Yeah, I agree with the above. I'd say it would be best to not actually make any assumptions and only go off what they tell you in the scenario- although making reasonable conjectures would be fine.
