Finally Sword and Shield… Omastar missed the first stages of Sword and Shield due to Dexit, but came back once the Crown Tundra rolled in. Low Speed and special bulk coupled with common weaknesses landed it in PU once again. There, however, it was an absolute monster. Primeape didn’t survive Dexit, so Omastar now outrun just about everything after Shell Smash, while Gastrodon was making itself nice and comfortable in NU, so Omastar’s main counter was gone too. While PU did have bulky Water types like Vaporeon and Lanturn, they would fold to its new toy: Meteor Beam, a 120 base power Special Rock type move that also boosted Omastar’s Special Attack by one stage. A +3 Meteor Beam blew straight through would be checks like the aforementioned Vaporeon and Lanturn, as well as Roserade, Druddigon and would just vaporise anything that didn’t resist it. Grabbing a Shell Smash was very simple, with Pokemon like Kangaskhan and Talonflame providing ample set up opportunities. Meteor Beam combined with Weak Armor meant it didn’t even always need to set up Shell Smash - it could come in on a physical attack, get the Speed boost, and use Meteor Beam to boost its Special Attack. It could still easily shred offensive teams at +1. Stopping it was a nightmare - the only priority move that OHKOed it was Life Orb Toxicroak’s Vacuum Wave, Ice Beam smashed all Grass types bar the rare Ferroseed, and the bulky Water types that used to give it trouble got blown up by Meteor Beam. It got banned alongside fellow Water types Kingler and Clawitzer, and hasn’t managed to replicate its success in NU yet. Still, being too strong for a tier is already a big win for lord helix. Some players tried to make Omastar work in VGC, with the Weakness Policy Dynamax trick, combined with Weak Armour for a Speed boost. But…Coalossal does that way better, as itisn’t weak to Rillaboom and Regieleki, has its own G Max move and the boost from Steam Engine gives it enough Speed to outrun Regieleki after a boost.

I'm honestly surprised that you didn't mention Omastar in gen 6 RU at all. It wasn't RU by usage but it had a fairly notable metagame presence doing its old tricks like setting hazards/smashing, especially during the early meta where at least one very prominent team made by New Breed featured it. (Lead Omastar/Life Orb Hitmonlee/Doublade/Dugtrio/Specs Meloetta/Speed Boost Yanmega, the fact some of these pokemon were legal in RU at the time really shows its age lol). Even by the end of the metagame it was still considered good enough that it was B rank on the RU viability rankings on the forums.
I’ve always enjoyed playing with Omastar when I could fit it onto a rain team. I’d say a decent improvement could have been to potentially give it Warer absorb as a hidden ability although Weak armor was good for certain situations.

Hey! Love your vids, I watch every week. I noticed you didn't show Omastar's stats after the Special split in gen2? So I had to look it up. It looked like it'd be a wall, but I guess the points went into attack. Anyways, just make sure to show the stats on the Gen 2 page too, that'd be nice. Oh, and while I'm here asking for things: would you also show a graphic that displays the pokemon's resistances? I'm not that good with remembering the type resistances and it'd help, like, when you show the stats page, to just have a little blurb that says what it's resistant to and what it's weak too. Love your channel! Can't wait for the next one. Also, I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing the Rotom episode!
Good video as usual Kellen, but I couldn't help but notice some odd drops in information here that sorta bugged me. For Gen 2, you didn't even post the new stat distribution after the Special split. On top of that, you talked a lot about Sandstorm and Toxic, but they didn't even show up on the popular moves list. This isn't meant an attack though, I just want to make sure your videos keep up the good quality they've been in the past. Still loving your content as usual!
Omastar + Swift Swim + Shell Smash is one of the most agressive sweepers of the game. Its only a lowet tier because of the ban of the abilities Drizzle and Swift Swim. So Omastar is amazing with that combo and is one of the best fossil pokemon out there.
As much as I would like to see that video, I highly doubt it could ever do anything remarkable in competitive. I still like it but it's nothing special.
Too bad it wasn’t blessed with any buffs in the 7th gen, like maybe an extra 10 points in its Speed would probably make it a better Shell Smasher. I think the worst part about Omastar in general is it’s lack of a good special Rock STAB. In summation, a slightly better Speed stat, and a decent special Rock Attack and it might still be in RU or NU.

With Hydropump, Blizzard, Rest, and Submission; Chansy is no problem and it's bulk makes it do consistently well against all the other normal types, and great against Wrap or Clamp spam. My Omastar does well against Tauros, Chansy, Snorlax, Dragonight, Charizard, Rydon, Cloyster, and it certainly still gives Alacazam, Slowbro, and Starmie a hard time.
I noticed that both Kabutops and Omaster are in the same tier in every Generations they're in.

Omastar certainly impresses!
Not menacing?! It looks terrifying. Also praise lord helix
I don't think it's a coincidence that there is a 69% to KO Jirachi
How good was Conkeldurr Actually?
Greeeat, Omastar is one of my favourite Water Pokemon😍😍✨ But please, do Raticate next🐀
Praise Lord helix!
How CUTE are Omastar's undulating tentacles ACTUALLY
Who is the character of your pfp?
Omg. Look at that Gen 1 sprite xD
Even by the end of the metagame it was still considered good enough that it was B rank on the RU viability rankings on the forums.
former rutl molk btw
btw i'm a big fan of your content, especially considering i've played a bunch of these metagames myself!
Playing blue version as a kid, omastar was my favorite pokemon to the point of overleveling it before the e4 at the cost of the rest of my team
I’ve always enjoyed playing with Omastar when I could fit it onto a rain team. I’d say a decent improvement could have been to potentially give it Warer absorb as a hidden ability although Weak armor was good for certain situations.
I used Omastar on my Sandstorm triples team.
He did well.
How good was Fearow Actually?
wow, Omastar actually an Ubers & OU monster at times, much unexpected
While Arceus created the Pokemon Universe, Lord Helix created Arceus
So true

I use this baby in modern competitive. Omastar is REALLY underrated honestly.
The thing is, it's way too mediocre without huge team support and you need far more self-sufficient Pokemon. Cool that you like him, but there's a reason for him to go unused.
Amazing video! Keep it up
All praises be to Lord Helix 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for another great vid False Swipe 💙🐱💙
P.S How GOOD was Mightyena ACTUALLY? please? I know there are other ‘Yena fans out there! I don’t mind if there are no VGC platings for it at all, I just really want to see my main Darkmon get a turn in the spotlight! Please?
If you wanna vote for Mightyena: Search for the community post and vote there. He doesn't check votes in comments anymore, because it's harder. When you go on his channel, slide to the community tab and comment your vote under your post.
Bálint // Master King I’ve been told that before but on my app it just says basically “use RUclips on your phone for Community Tabs”, I can’t do that so I’m just hoping Mightyena gets chosen eventually 😓😓😓
Thanks anyway 👍🏻
OMG, that sounds like a good video
How i'd buff omastar

Nothing like worshipping and honoring Lord Helix on a Sunday
ALL PRAISE LORD HELIX lol thank you for the quality content as usual FalseSwipeGaming I look forward to next weeks

@@ralphmarges2965 dont talk about omastar like this, i had omastar in one of my randomizers, and it was a very good pokemon in my team
PRAISE LORD HELIX!
Helix is trash
Omastar + Swift Swim + Shell Smash is one of the most agressive sweepers of the game.
Its only a lowet tier because of the ban of the abilities Drizzle and Swift Swim. So Omastar is amazing with that combo and is one of the best fossil pokemon out there.
I mean they are only banned in gen 5
LORD HELIX!!!!
Omastar has a cooler looking 3D model then I expected.
Lord helix is cool and all BUT have you heard of ursaring? How GOOD was ursaring? Pleaaaseeeeeee
As much as I would like to see that video, I highly doubt it could ever do anything remarkable in competitive. I still like it but it's nothing special.
when i saw the post with everyone commenting for it i thought you had already done this one

FSG: UNFORTUNATELY, Omastar was extinct in the seventh generation.
Audience: (booing intensifies)
for mons like these whenever it gets to gen 6, or sometimes 5, every conpliment he gives soinds a bit empty cuz theyre usually at NU/PU
Love the vids!
Doesn't Omastar get Power Gem? Or am I misremembering
There's just a lack of Special Rock moves in general
Power Gem and Ancientpower. That's it.
