Sounds Great.
Thanks so much, the camera mic doesn't really let the listener hear and feel how rocking this amp sounds when I cranked the volume and took it out of the feedback loop. Thanks for watching.
@@roncarter2188 Understood about the camera mic. Back in the late 1970s my Father's best friend owned a TV Repair Shop as well as being an avid HAM Radio operator who built all his own radio equipment. He built me a guitar amp that looked very much like the Stromberg you tested. Such a generous family friend, he also gifted me an all original 1947 MEC Troubadour amplifier I still sometimes use.
Its a shame most modern amplifiers are not designed to last the test of time. Turret Board and PTP construction can last several lifetimes and shrug off heavy use and abuse. Again, great content and thank you for sharing.
Man if you could ever find a Dukane 1U460 thats about the equivalent of what that is. The Stromberg Carlson sounds great.
Sounds like those filter caps need changing. otherwise a very good tone, lots of chunk.
Did a full recap today and it's quiet as a mouse, I'm very happy also used larger filter cap values. The negative feedback switch when disengaged adds at lot of hum but massive gain. So I might work on that. Maybe change both preamp tubes to 6sl7's and run both in one input...it's goes on and on 😮😅
Beautiful sound from this old gem, is it for sale?.
Yes
