It’s a great underrated song
It will grow on you. The density of all Mariah albums cannot be overstated. The work involved in the melodies, the lyrics, the layered vocals, the state of art production.... this is top notch R&B.

This album is hood Mariah and I LIVE!
Totally underrated! People did not get what Mariah was going for on this album, but great concept and as usual amazing lyrics, especially in songs like Side Effects (not a single sadly), telling her own story about the marriage with TM, and also Bye Bye. I'm that chick has the greatest vibes! As you said,overall this is a very playful album.

I was definitely surprised that it was a lot of people's least favourite Mariah album. I think I understand that it is because it's a bit more conventional and maybe doesn't have so many vocal layers, techniques, etc... It sounds great to me though. I listen to Side Effects and For The Record all the time now!
@@bridgethegapreactions 2 great songs for sure! I do also love the lyrics in Bye Bye, mostly the part when she says to her father, who past around the Charmbracelet album, and left this world not seing her comeback in 2005: And you never got a chance to see how good I've done

the reference of vanishing was spot on! her talent as a singer and an arranger is on full display when there is no commercial constraints
I love this album so much! I listen to this album and daydream on shuffle together and they blend so well!
My two faves from the album are SIDE EFFECTS and FOR THE RECORD. Love "Migrate" so much too. And Lovin´you long time.
Man This Album, grew on Me ☺️☺️🥰. This was probably the last physical CD I purchased in a record store (Virgin Records MegaStore in Times Square NYC) I'd spend endless hours in there just listening to everything. I can clearly remember walking down 10th Ave in Manhattan at night listening to this on my Discman(extra batteries were always in my backpack 😉)
most of mariah's albums were ahead of its time. if she would released this album this year it would be a hit
So I think she should have done something more like emancipation. I don’t think this is her best. I actually think Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel would have been a great follow up to emancipation. It’s got some fun ones on it though.
Memoirs sounds nothing like emancipation and barely has single material

this album had to grow on me but its a fun, free-spirited, but also at times emotional record. i think mariah wanted it to be more lighthearted, and it is of its time but very mariah-ed so in that case, not really
There are many tracks that have enough potential to be singles. Overall sales should be better than this.

I admit that this isn’t my favourite Mariah album. Butterfly, Daydream & Caution take that place however I love Bye Bye, I wish you well and I stay in love and they’re my favourites on it. Great reaction once again ❤
I like this album but it’s a bit inconsistent. It has some of her best songs but there’s a lot of disposable samey songs.

Not a lot at all! I love this album, very summer vibe-ish and dope!! Migrate should’ve had been a single with a music video. That would definitely would go straight to number one ❤ it’s FIRE!
