This is my all time favorite Mariah Carey album from beginning to end. And I've been a fan since Daydream. It's got everything I love about Mariah, sexy vocals, cheeky & serious lyrics, beats I can blast driving with the windows down, and beautiful layered backgrounds. It was a fun album where everything fell into place. Without trying too hard.
Exactly, everything falling into place! I think it's close to perfect. Great summer album
betcha gon know is my favorite because i played it a lot during a tumultuous relationship 😢❤ definitely gonna revisit this one for myself
My favourite non-90s Mariah album ❤❤❤
It feels so personal and diary-like, and lyrically I feel like this album really shows her personality more than any other. Especially her sense of humour and wit.
P.S. She was newly married to Nick Cannon at the time and in a happy time of her life. So the way I see it, this album is the result of what I believe most ppl do when they settle down; you find yourself thinking a lot about past relationships, good and bad, and the partners and lovers that brought you to where you are, coz when you make that decision to commit you're kind of closing the door on the past, saying your goodbyes... some of them you'll always hold a candle for... others - good riddance!
Yeah, very diary-like, Memoirs is a perfect title for it

I love this Album, cause it's feels very personal, and its story tells us about her experience through the lyric, the main focus is her art of song writing, it so deep, my fav is candy bling n inseparable, its a wrap ❤❤❤❤❤, tbh I love all song in this album😂😂😂

"More than Just Friends" and "Standing Ovation" were always some of my faves from this album. Very very cohesive body of work. She´s such a tremendous lyricist. And of corse "Obssesed" was a total moment, and "Betcha gone know" and "Angels Cry" are indisputable.
This is my favorite album of her from the start to the end. I always repeat with this along with Emancipation of Mi Mi and Caution albums. Thank you for your reaction. I like your reaction ❤

Hello!! I don't know if you already reacted to this on Patreon, but Homecoming 99 is a really cool Mariah special. She revisits her old school, talks a little about growing up and gives a cute gym performance. I don't think many fans even know about it but I thought it was fun. So 90s too. The kids were so starstruck.
I did yeah, I like those slightly cheesy specials she did! I've reacted to Homecoming, Here Is Mariah Carey (1993), Around The World, ABC Christmas Special, Shining Through The Rain, Adventures Of Mimi, Fantasy: Live At MSG, Tokyo Dome.... lots of stuff! I really liked Homecoming - must have been insane to be a kid in that school and witness that!

All of this & more found right here in Memoirs, MC's most underrated album. This album is packed with hidden gems like more than just friends, languishing & angels cry. This is great stuff, Mariah at her r&b best,
& very few can compare. Her contemporaries can only wish they could create music like this!

My personal theory is that Betcha Gon' Know (my fave) is about Luis Miguel, who she dated in '99. At the time she felt like she'd found her happy ending after all the drama of the 90s. But it wasn't to be. She *never* talks about him. And it's like the song she wrote about him - Thank God I Found You - doesn't exist! Lol. I mean, it was a US #1, yet she barely acknowledges it. So it would appear that they parted on bad terms. I have no evidence to say he cheated, other than the fact that Latino men have a reputation for being unfaithful, to the point where it's almost embedded in the culture 😂 lol. Yes, I'm being generalistic, but of all her exes, I'd still say all signs point to Luis Miguel... coz there ain't no way Betcha Gon' Know isn't a true story... you can just *feel* it!
