One year during band competition we were in the middle of being judged & out of no where a freak storm came, with lightening & huge hail rocks were bolting us & our instruments! The Judges ran for cover, but we had to remain in line & at attention!!! We didn't budge until our Drum Major blew his whistle to play & March... We did just that - no matter how uncomfortable we were we didnt even flinch a muscle or blink an eye! We were soaked to the bones even though we were in those hot uniforms, the rain soaked us. This was in the 1980s so everyone in band wore those huge furry hats & giant, stiff uniforms. Anyway, We Won The Sweepstakes!!! The Drum Major won for his amazing routine, also our Drummers won for their outstanding electric percussion performances, & the whole band won top prizes... and we went home with The Sweetstakes!!! Oh, it was sooo exciting driving back to the Bay Area, even our Bus Drivers were thrilled - they honked their horns as we drove back into town, through town & all the way to the Scvhool!!! Perhaps the Storm had something to do with it??? Actually, it was our Band Instructor who made us practice & work extra hard on all our routines & musically - we were READY!
Well damn! This took me WAY back to the days of B.O.G. In 1976! Going to festivals and parades and band competitions. Our drum line was unbelievable back then and watching this brought all those memories back. Awesome job guys!
sorry, but no. One guy scratching his ear during the first set (Ö:39), head movments and angles differently off and on, little details, liek first notes off beat, etc.. From my POV they are lacking a bit of stoicism. something e.g. Top Secret Drum Corps from Basle delivers to perfection. These guys are definitely good, great line, there is lot of room for improvement until becoming "best ever".
Matt Olmar Top secret isn’t seen as the best drumline ever as drumline culture is a lot different than it used to be, focusing more on the music they are playing and the performance, less about ideas of perfect unity, Look at the top Lime I’m DCI, Santa Clara Vangaurd, there snare players don’t use the exact same technique and don’t focus to hard and exact matching across the line
Exactly, they’re asking for sunburn and skin cancer. Wear summer weight wicking material button shirts one size too large and untucked for air circulation. Go to tropical south and south east Asia. That’s how they dress there. Except for stupid tourists who dress like stupid tourists .

godking1914 That doesn't make it false... Using authority for basis of an argument isn't a good idea. Kind of like saying you need a masters degree in botany to say grass is green.
Frequency Garden masters degree is not needed to know if grass is green. Just ability to recognize and understand what the color green means is all that is needed. Masters in botany will give a deeper understanding of the relationship it takes for the grass to be green and therefore I higher level of perspective and appreciation. And that is exactly what I mean by his comments sound like they have never been apart of a championship drumline. They don't have the higher level perspective and understanding of what means to first. It is absolutely a good idea to speak from the perspective of expert which you called authority.
Amazing precision, one of the cleanest drum lines I have seen. And "The Pines of Rome" to top it off at the end? One of my favorite pieces. Awesome job guys, brings back memories.
WOW!!!! Dedication and hard work- that’s for sure! You guys are amazing 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 Would love to see them performing professionally- Like check out “Top Secret”.. The moves with their heads in sync etc as they play. Can watch and listen to them for hours.
So as an old percussionist, I tend to take claims of best drumline ever and say "yeah right" , regardless of skill. Because even with a line of total professionals, getting every single stroke to sound like "1 Drum, many sticks" is ferociously difficult. These gentlemen nail it. Even the seemingly easy, but deceptively hard techniques! . Personal bias is Top Secret Drum Corp. If these gentlemen could perform like they just did AND add in a bit more precision choriagraphy , they could not just steal, but walk away with the crown! Props to the percussionists, AND their director!
Top secret? Yeah top secret plays about as clean as a high school drumline. You smoking something dude 😂 These guys are thousands of times better than Top Secret its not even comparable
Amazing drumline -- thanks for posting. That said, I marched DCI back in the 1990s and I've seen plenty of other drumlines that could compete with this one. Heck, maybe listen to SCV's winning drumline from that same year! But these guys should be proud of being a fantastic drumline.
@angel denson yeah, she wasn't the first one too. A tom (aka flub) player had previously torn his LCL, but he marched anyways, much to his mother's displeasure. And on the way back our 4th bass injured his knee when he stood up to get off the bus. It seems knee injuries are common in drumline, I would've thought it'd be ankles.
I joined my first drum line back in 1921, we were one of the best in the world, did a lot of tours… I still do solos about 6 times per year… weddings mostly…
I was typing my essay and I forgot I was listening to this so when I put my headphones back on I thought my neighbor was using his backyard as a gun range again
I think you did this video and this line an injustice when putting "Best Drumline Ever". Because now everyone is gonna look for flaws in what you said.
Right with you on that one - plus we have different senses of what makes best ever? Delucia's Bridgemen in the early 80s went 2 years without losing the caption at any show. In the tic age, again Delucia's Muchachos did a 1 tic performance in a major championship show. What makes it best ever? For me (and yes, I'm biased) those early 80s Bridgemen lines were untouchable.
WOW! AM I seeing right? Everyone In the field performing are dudes? Even the ones jumping around with the flags? ( except the conductor on the far left)

They’re pretty disco to all be wearing the same shorts. Jeez some even have SOCKS on ! Also they ain’t got no “chicks with sticks” What happened to the ‘70’s ?
Excellent performance, regardless of opinions its one thing to talk, pick up those sticks, strap that drum on and show the world what you working with. Good job.
These guys are amazing… it’s not only hot, they’re on blacktop. My granddaughter played in a steel band. Those kids were dedicated and did this during the summer on their own time. Great job!
So clean. Harkens back to lines of old before they started getting so much choreography into the shows. I think the last time I heard one this clean was Cavies back in 03 or 04. Both those years lines were incredible.
Lol what? Trust me when I tell you that the best lines of all time did or do choreography. Check out BD 2012, Cadets 2011, RCC 2015, Boston 2018...
Yeah I have to agree with Fresh Prince on this one. There have been some pretty impressive ensembles over the years that have incorporated choreo that have been just as clean if not cleaner than the two you mentioned (though I agree that those two years were a lot of fun).
What a great, and professional,, instructor/coach!!! (Having experienced it, I’ll bet he spits when he yells at you! Lol lol!😅😂🤣 NOTHING NASTY MEANT BY THIS! Just a lot of respect for what these dedicated instructors do!). You guys are great!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥁🥁🥁😘❤️💚🌹
Just messing around on RUclips and caught this and I am absolutely amazed by them!! I have never seen or heard anything as incredible as this! The amount of dedication and hard work that must go into achieving this is a testament to their skill and character! Great job and thank you so much for sharing!
The dynamics are insane. Along with the stick heights being practically identical. Wow.
1.5, 3, 6, 9, 12, 12+ is how my drum tech taught my line 25 years ago
Stick heights are BS.
I appreciate the hard work these young men put into their craft. Great job!
The stick height is PERFECT. No popcorn whatsoever.
The snares sound perfectly crisp.
Dang this makes me miss marching SOOOO MUCH
"How are they so crazy fast???" *Finds out I'm watching at 1.25 speed.*
🤣🤣
LOL....badaboom, ching!
I tried it too!
try 0.25

Extraordinary💯💯% 🥁🎼🎶
Metronome pulse and the beating of the on key drummers fabulous, don't reflect on attire, just the sound of one unit🎼🥁🎼🥁🎼🥁🎼🥁🎼🥁🎼
I hadn't planned to watch all this. Just a quick "dip". I stayed to the end. Truly amazing skills and talent.
Cadets performed the hell out of their show that year
I have enough trouble staying synchronised with my own left and right stickings, let alone with like ten other players. Incredible work.
Those who have never studied the rudiments of drumming may not be able to fully appreciate this level of mastery. This drumline is truly extraordinary. Their rolls close to the head make them all perfect for a Scottish pipe & drum core. So glad I stumbled onto this.
Coming from the wife of a High school & college drum major... ya'll are clean as Clorox. Impeccable timing, and I BET you have the best tan around. 😉
Great job guys. Your hard work is visible through these lines, these marches and these beats.
Keep up the good work! 👏👏👏
why is everyone criticising them , just enjoy the drums man
corey watson Right. Damn
EXACTLY, Corey!!!
This was phenomenally good drumming, indeed. I couldn't have done any better. Those who criticize need to make sure they're better than that. These guys were balls on. Period!
Criticizing
"best drumline ever" is misleading
I rank this as one of the best yet most overlooked drumline that year.
Well damn! This took me WAY back to the days of B.O.G. In 1976! Going to festivals and parades and band competitions. Our drum line was unbelievable back then and watching this brought all those memories back. Awesome job guys!
When hard work pays off. Very Impressive. This is one of the coolest things I have seen.
Best depiction of discipline I've seen in a marching band ever.. take notes youngins
Hi you won't the best you've got the best keep it up guys
Please tell me you mean drum corps right not marching band? Their is a big difference in the two :)
sorry, but no.
You stand out in that sun on asphalt for hours practicing and then you can have a say how they're dressed..
Why isnt it coed with the girls dressed the same way?
@@Talons56 most of them dress alike.. but some drummers harnesses irritate and rub
Exactly, they’re asking for sunburn and skin cancer. Wear summer weight wicking material button shirts one size too large and untucked for air circulation. Go to tropical south and south east Asia. That’s how they dress there. Except for stupid tourists who dress like stupid tourists .
@@robertwilliamson6121 The topless boys, some are developed others had man tits.. others are just plain skinny,, your lack of male physics distracts from your ability to perform. Your good players, but your undeveloped man bodies are distracting, you think man tits wants to be in this video?
watching theses videos of the marching bands and what goes into the game shows and competitions that happen in the USA and there university's ect and then look at what we do hear in good old New Zealand, witch is nothing at all for the most part of it into drinking happens. The hard work they put in and with school work at that level is just outstanding.
That's amazing I can't imagine the amount of time and effort that went in to getting this good
7+ years if they started in 6th grade percussion
its not about who gets first or 6th, its about the experiences and energy you share with everyone for the music.
DrumPadChannel right on!
DrumPadChannel spoken like som one who has never been apart of a championship 1st place drumline
godking1914 That doesn't make it false...
It is absolutely a good idea to speak from the perspective of expert which you called authority.
godking1914 I have a thorough understanding of what makes a great ensemble. What part of my drum career is lacking in your approval?
Amazing precision, one of the cleanest drum lines I have seen. And "The Pines of Rome" to top it off at the end? One of my favorite pieces. Awesome job guys, brings back memories.
WOW!!!! Dedication and hard work- that’s for sure! You guys are amazing 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Would love to see them performing professionally-
Like check out “Top Secret”..
The moves with their heads in sync etc as they play. Can watch and listen to them for hours.
Top secret is poop
This is professional top secret compared to this is easy
the view from the side is awesome watching all their heights oh my god its beautiful
“Choreography”
The choreography is the hornline...
Y’all realize that the drumline marches along with the hornline in the show right?
Top secret? Yeah top secret plays about as clean as a high school drumline. You smoking something dude 😂 These guys are thousands of times better than Top Secret its not even comparable
No, guys, he’s right
Their precision and determination is incredible!!
This is insane! The talent is crazy!!!! I'm so impressed they're all in perfect synch! I can only imagine how much they've practiced!
Beyond my understanding how human beings can do This? Simply off the scale incredible.........
I would happily suggest that you go see a DCI competition ,or better yet finals, But sadly, these days we have to wonder if DCI will be back.......
The sound of the whole band at the end gave me goosebumps
I keep coming back to this video... The most immaculately tight drumline I’ve ever heard. absolutely savage
These young men ARE IMPRESSIVE!!! GREAT JOB, GUYS!!!
Amazing drumline -- thanks for posting. That said, I marched DCI back in the 1990s and I've seen plenty of other drumlines that could compete with this one. Heck, maybe listen to SCV's winning drumline from that same year! But these guys should be proud of being a fantastic drumline.
Thankyou somebody who actually had experience and isn’t hating
Where did you march?
Blown away...so happy to have stumbled upon this...amazing talent
When I saw the title is had doubts but they're extremely dope, respect is due
When my drum line only has 2 snares 😖
with three snares in my drumline cant stay fucking on time lmfao im the only good one in my drumline tbh
mine only has four lmao
BE YOU My school drumline had 4 Snares, 2 Flubs (Me), 5 Bass drums (also me 😂), 3 Tenors
Mine had 5, the 5th one injured her knee on a visual where we kneel down during a competition.
Amazing precision and discipline- nicely done
99% of comments on here coming from people that have no idea what DCI is
“Band uniform”
ikr!?
Exactlyyyyyy
Dci died ages ago. People that say shit like that should just say its now BAND corps. Re name it cause it’s certainly not drum corps
Jim S ?
Why does it seem like drum music speaks to your soul!! Love this
I was typing my essay and I forgot I was listening to this so when I put my headphones back on I thought my neighbor was using his backyard as a gun range again
Again?
A concentração do grupo e fantástica, e um sincronismo perfeito!
Takes a special ear to train these people. Incredible coaching and playing.
I found a FLAW! YEA! OOOPS> I JUST LOST IT.
In the 2016 Cadets battery? Absolutely not.
Maybe, but good luck finding any.
Go ahead, they are literally perfect. The timing and unison couldnt be tighter
Dang!! I know a dozen bagpipe bands that would give their first born for side drummers like that.
I love your pfp, haha! Make The Asshole Go Away, that’s so good
I sat here impressed af by the drumline for 5 minutes, just to be blown away by the entire band.
I could never be in this drumline. I'm chubby and won't be rehearsing without a shirt on.
AND , Like Me who is FAT would LOOK GOOFY IN TIGHTS ...LOL
Your mans on the left, he's yourbro
Hey David, but you made it and you are good. isn't that you on the far left?
WOW! AM I seeing right? Everyone In the field performing are dudes? Even the ones jumping around with the flags? ( except the conductor on the far left)
Some of our best drummers were over weight... dont let that hold you back. There are other drum lines that don't require this show off of boy bodies.
God damn epic drum line
It's the disaplian that they all have, amazing
This is very good but if people think this is the best ever, you are missing a whole lot of other great ones.
True that
If your thinking this is about watching boys with drums, you need to seek counseling. This is self discipline for a generations that few has a lot of excuses and little commitment. I commend these young Men, whatever path they may follow. Its about self discipline, nothing more.
I when I was a drum major in high school (someone who conducts the entire marching band). Me and two other drum majors and got to conduct the drum line along the met. One word... surreal
First off, these kids are major dedicated to be this precise. Major kudos to them!!
Is the ending portion of the vid the same group, just with the rest of their marching band? Way more high speed maneuvering than I ever did in marching band.
Also, we never got to practice, much less perform without shirts. lol
Again, major compliments to these young folks.
Drum corps*
Not marching band.
Amazing clean.
