    The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
    My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
    I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

    I grew up watching basketball in the 50's and i hated the 60's-90's era and thought it was trash compared to 50's ball but looking back on it now, that was the best version of the nba ive ever seen in my 84 years. Them guys magic and bird and then Jordan were amazing.

    • @dmpdagamer
      @dmpdagamer Месяц назад +8

      I respect all eras. I actually made a league of the 50s-60s on NBA 2K the video game. Bob Cousy, Paul Arizin, Bob Pettit, George Mikan, and even George Yardley are in there. I'm 25, but love the history of the game.

    • @MJIZZEL
      @MJIZZEL Месяц назад +5

      @@dmpdagamerwell that’s great to hear! I bet them nba 2000 video games you guys are making really can encapsulate the style of the league back then. Them boys couldn’t even take a full step without dribbling and had to basically slap the ball to the ground and back as a dribble. It was much tougher enforcement of rules then also.
      I seen some of the highlights from the game today and that Jae Rule or Ja Romant (whatever his name is, im old) guy can really get up there but he doesn’t have to dribble when gathering his steps. He’s still amazing tho. My great grandson loves watching him.
      Young Jordan would destroy him in one on one. I guarantee you that.
      I believe in 20 years they will go ahead and get rid of dribbling all together if Howard stern is still the commissioner. Hopefully Jae Troman is still playing and trying to catch up to lebron. Lebron might be coming off the bench by then.
      I’m just joshing you young man.

    You should do a video called “if NBL stats counted” similar to the if ABA stats counted video. I think this would be cool because the NBA does recognise BAA before the NBL merger even though talent was split between the two leagues and the NBL would later join the NBA. I also think it would be cool because a lot of people including me doesn’t know much about the NBL so it would contain a lot of new info that could be interesting. It would also further show the dominance of George Mikan and it would change the championship total of the Lakers meaning they would have one more ring than the Celtics which as a Lakers fan this is one of my favourite parts of this scenario lol. Just an idea though great vid.

    Prior to the 2001 season, the NBA had an illegal defense rule that didn’t allow centers to camp under the basket and guard the rim unless there was an offensive player near the basket on either side of the block. The defensive players who protected the rim were near the paint because they were close to under the basket. The defensive three second rule as we now know it is in place because the NBA now allows a type of zone defense that wasn’t permitted under the older illegal defense rules.

    • @delanodouglas6390
      @delanodouglas6390 Месяц назад

      The illegal defensive rule also indicated that a team couldn’t have players guard an area where there wasn’t an offensive player.

    i often wonder why the NBA doesn’t count the NBL or the ABA accomplishments in their history books. the NFL recognizes the AFL and AAFC. the NBA prides itself on cherishing basketball history yet refuses to acknowledge two professional leagues that helped shape what it is today (same goes for the NHL barely recognizing the WHA accomplishments)…..weird.

    The creator almost got it right about the 80's was harder. The players back in the 80's didn't grow up with 3 pointer. So seeing front line players didn't make plays more then 15 feet from the basket. In half court game the play starts with in the 3 point line. So you had a more compact area of play. The defense didn't have to move as far to cover. It was all man to man defense no zone like they do today. When you see a defender next to the paint and ignoring the offensive players stand behind the 3 point line that would have been a defensive violation. You have to be no farther then one zone defending a player. LBJ being holding the all time score leader with a 3 point era. When Kareem didn't ever shoot a shot farther then 15 feet 1 and 2 points at a time. LBJ would take 3 to 5 more years to do without the 3 pointer. That is how different the game was. I played when college transition to the 3 pointer. When I would go to the rec center to practice 3 pointers. The players in the gym were amazed I was hitting 20% on a 3 pointer. Very few people in a pickup game would shoot a 3 pointer. Now people start behind the 3 point line not at the top of the key. With fast break and and most shot are closer to the rim. You are going to be more efficient.

    Video idea.... ways that women's basketball is better than the NBA.
    ON hour uncut hoops channel you have a few videos putting the WNBA and their players in their place.
    But in light of the women's college basketball tournament having 3 games that performed better than the NBA Finals (including the 18.7 million title game) a good video topic is on what the NBA could learn(relearn) from the women's game... specifically, The college game.
    I watched women's college BB for the first time in 20 years and although they are inferior in talent, I LIVED the eddort displayed, and that refs were consistently calling travel.

    Actually, there WAS a dynasty during the '70s, but it was in the ABA: the Indiana Pacers who were champions in 1970, '72, and '73.

    I've watched most of the watchable nba games over the last 50 plus years. Today's nba is unwatchable unless you're just desperate to stay a fan.

    Sorry to correct you ...but Karl Malone did not say this before the allstar game..this was when Magic tried to come back for the 1993 season when Malone commented..forcing Magic to retire early in the season....And Magic did play in the 1996 season and lost to Houston in the first round. Someone didn't do their homework

    I’m 70 years old and grew up playing and watching nba BB. With RUclips I’ve watched a lot of old-fashioned games, especially Bill Russell and his Celtics. I’ve stayed a Celtics fan, especially with Larry Bird, Magic, Kareem and the MJ. For the past decade I have stopped watching the nba because of the many negative things that LeBrain has introduced to the nba; whining, complaining, flopping, traveling, palming the ball, charging, and changing teams like a “dirty shirt” in search of nba titles to polish his impossible quest for the fake goat title! What a total mess. Hopefully he will retire soon and maybe the nba will return to a watchable entity?

      What does that change ? Did that stop Kobe from winning more than just 1 MVP ? Is that also the reason kobe only won 2 scoring titles? Is that the reason kobe was inefficient ? Drexler , Kobe , Iverson , Miller , ray Allen , dumars , lol

    LeBrain James is a big fake! He is the “King of Flopping” and the “Greatest Whiner of All Time”-The GWAT! Can anyone who knows nba history compare him to the real Laker Greats? I wouldn’t even put him on the starting 5 of all great Lakers- West, Magic, Kareem, Kobe, and Shaq! LeBrain wouldn’t even make the 2nd team! So the goat 🐐 of all nba history? Give me a break!

    Jonny...this was absolutely beautiful. I'm sure I have a bias as a diehard lifetime born and bred Laker fan from Los Angeles California but regardless...I loved this as a basketball fan. Great work.
