  • The Jacksonville Jaguars have a decision to make in the 1st round of the draft, but it should be about more than what is best in 2024. It would be a mistake for the team to make a decision on a player based on the ability to have an immediate impact as opposed to who will have the better career.

Totally agree, man. Not just for the draft picks careers but also for Trevor's future. Gotta get him cornerstone pieces to build and grow with instead of these 1 and done dudes. That's why I'm for trading back twice in the first for an extra 2nd and 3rd. First round Kool-Aid, 2 2nds are Darius Robinson and Keon Coleman, 2 3rds are TJ Tampa and Javon Baker. 2 4ths are Javon Foster LT from Mizzou and RT Christian Jones from Texas. Braelan Allen rb Wisconsin in the 5th.

I'm also down with trading next years first back into the 20's this year for JPJ.

I agree as long as we get an impact player the other needs can be supplemented a lock down cb in this division I think should be the target but as long as they can come in and assert their skill set in whatever position ill take that any day

It's not about making it all about 2024. It's about filling a need that this team has had for decades and doing what other successful teams have done, giving our QB a true #1 WR. It's criminal that Lawrence has been here as long as he has and so far, we've failed to give him this basic need. Providing him with a #1 WR from what is arguably, the best top end of any WR class in the last 10 years, would help this team way beyond 2024 and would secure a much needed tool for this offense for the next 5 years. It's not hard to figure out. Besides, why would Trevor want to re-sign with a team that would have failed to get him basic needs? He wants to win a championship and you certainly can't do that with the sub-par WR's we currently have. It normally takes a year for a WR to get his footing and really produce, so trading up and taking a WR is not drafting for 2024, it's definitely drafting for the future. The top 3 WR's on my board are also the top overall players on my board. Trading up and getting Rome Oduze or Malik Jackson would do this and then trading back with Atlanta and giving them #48 for #74 and #79 would help us re-coup a pick that we lose in this draft for trading up in round 1. There should be CB's in this range that are just as good as the ones we could have had in round 1. I especially like Khyree Jackson and Renardo Green. I think they are just as good as the first round corners. I'm not taking a long term backup at #17. That's just wasting a first round pick. You take backups from the 4th round on. If we drafted a DT at #17, he won't start, no matter how good he is, because you are paying Armstead and Hamilton a ton of money and you have to justify those signings by playing them. I only move down in round 1, if we can't trade up to get a WR and if BTJ, Taliese Fuaga and Olu Fashanu are off the board. The OT's would allow us to free up cap space, because we could immediately trade or cut Cam Robinson. I wouldn't take Amarius Mims, because he can't stay healthy. You don't spend high round picks on a guys with a small sample size, due to injury. That is a recipe for disaster. They spent a 2nd rounder on Walker Little, who had a very small sample size due to injury and he has never developed. Michael Hall has never been unblockble. I live in Ohio and have seen every Buckeyes game in Hall's college career and you often forget he is on the field, because he is such a low impact player. If we go into the season with our current offense as it is constructed now, we will be picking in the top 10 next season and next year's WR crop currently looks pretty bleak.

Thank you!!!!!! Everyone always says oh we need a WR1 for Trevor, this and that. But when it comes time to draft one they want us to do the same sh*t we do every. Single. Year. And it is getting absolutely exhausting. It hasn’t worked for us for how long now? What makes it work this year? It’s the literal definition of insanity.
This WR class is “picking for a career” potentially. Look at JJ, Chase, Lamb, etc. we all cry and moan that we need a bona fide WR1 but then we wanna talk ourselves out of it?
We all do know there is another draft next year that will have OT, CB, DT, etc in the first round? There isn’t going to be another draft like this where we can get a stud WR.
This is all getting ridiculous before the draft starts. We need a playmaker on offense or else we will stay vanilla.

@@AlwaysTheJags904 Totally agree. If you have a chance to get a top 5 player on your entire board and I have 3 WR's in my top 5 overall player board and those players just happen to fill your biggest areas of need, why not make the move? It sets you up for the next 5 years, at least.

That live mock sounds cool. I'll check that out. I was having this exact debate with a Jags fan earlier (trying to talk them out of a "We have to take WR in round 1" attitude).

Mims is injury prone in college. He's not making it in the NFL. This isn't the draft or the team they can take that kind of risk on.

    Our WR room is good.
I’ve narrowed the 1st rd selection to either a CB or OT

What's good about the WR room? We have one legit WR and he plays in the slot (Kirk) and he's coming off injury. The rest of the room is straight up trash.
