Nabers is one only because u can move him all around inside outside. He can win Marv is your classic X Wr u leave one side of the field and let the defense choose how they wanna slide to his side. Nabers u gotta think of a different plan from when he’s lined up outside, in the slot, goes in motion, pre snap motion, and the backfield if he OC is creative. U can’t go wrong tho
Modern offenses would move MHJ around. Act like teams aren't moving guys like CeeDee Lamb, Chase, etc around so they can get even more open. MHJ can easily play inside. His route running is ready NFL great. He just can succeed at X outside at a high level so offenses can move around someone else to help them out. Nabers can't just line up at X every play. He has trouble with press sometimes. MHJ offers much more flexibility.

Pearsall will be the best NFL WR in this entire class IMO. He has ELITE athleticism AND already is an absolute technician running routes, has GREAT HANDS, GREAT TOUGHNESS over the middle, has an obsessive work ethic, plays with NFL veteran nuance. I think Pearsall has been criminally underrated in big part to his good- not great college production, but his QB's were not good and that alone can stunt the best WR's raw statistics.
Steve and Lance are two of the guys I love to hear when discussing prospects. Mad respect to Steve the HOF baller and getting better everyday as an analyst. This video was so informative and entertaining. I have to admit, I was getting frustrated not hearing Legette's name. Then, Steve dropped him in at #9. I just see this young guy built like AJ Brown, DK, and Deebo. So many analysts have Legette outside their top 10. Thanx for not letting me down Steve. I really like Corley and Pearsall too. Both Steve and Matt Harmon said that regarding in-breaking/out-breaking routes, Mingo was doing one type, when he was good at the other one. Matt also said Mingo should play in the slot instead of at X. But unfortunately I don’t know if Mingo will get a chance to develop with a lot of the weapons they now have in Carolina. We’ll see tho.

The biggest change for me is the physicality. Passing offenses use the middle of the field much more frequently than say 30 years ago a WR going over the middle would get decapitated. If you are not old enough to have seen this you should take the time to go back and look at some of the absolutely brutal hits. This was before the “targeting” and hitting a defenseless receiver penalties were a thing. I’m not lamenting the rule changes, they were necessary for player safety and that’s a good thing. I’m just pointing out it was much more difficult to use that part of the field as much
Regarding Marvin Harrison Jr...I think if you ask players "What is the most important thing you can do between now and the draft?" most would answer "Improve my draft stock." I think the correct answer is "Stay Healthy"...and that is the priority he put first. Guys with good tape and measurables have that luxury and Harrison Jr. took advantage of that. Good on him.
These young kids today have no idea how good of a WR Steve Smith Sr. was. If I could build a WR my WR would posses the heart and tenacity of Steve that I have yet to see in a WR since Steve played.

I disagree with Steve Smith saying the truth lies in the middle for Xavier Legette. Look at Smith's college stats: 35 rec for 743 yards, 43 rec for 860 yards. He was way better than that in the pros. Some players figure it out and explode when put in a complementary system. It matters more what his role is in the offense

The following season he was riddled with injury and barely played and thus Ladd emerged. When AD transferred to UT he was healthy which is why it appears to be such a large leap.
I think the ceiling is higher with Franklin if you can fix his problems and get him better. They are doing who is going to be better later in their career down the road not just out the draft.

Steve did a poor job really nailing down his top-10 in a way I could understand, to the point I couldn't tell where him and Lance's opinions started and ended. The top-3 WRs was summed up (in 20mins) with bagel analogies, Brian Thomas at 4 really got more hate and disinterest than love, Worthy was a discussion about speed instead of HIM as a WR, AD Mitchell is someone (rightfully) Steve doesn't like...but he's at WR6??? And Franklin and McConkey were pretty much only picked apart as being role players rather than valued for the things they CAN do. Not hating...but I'll come back to this a year from now and I think my comment will hold up a lot better than the bots in the chat mindlessly giving credit to Steve's insight just because he was an excellent NFL WR. Sorry to say it, but this top 10 was kinda trash!

@@amzzznation You make a good point! I was so focused on getting off my opinion of their rankings I did a poor job explaining my own takeaways. In order of what I meant to elaborate on with those WRs mentioned above... Brian Thomas is going to be a dawg! Steve might have him at WR4, but his overall opinions on him have seemed pretty low -- questioning his dedication, personality, "that dawg in him", etc.. seemed like just a few weeks ago he was hyping up Legette more, and now XL's his WR9?... confusing. As for Worthy, Steve kept talking about his speed, but failed to mention how easily knocked out of his game he is and really how one dimensional he is. I get that speed still helps, but having him over Franklin and McConkey is insanity to me. He's a less skilled, less tough Hollywood Brown, IMO, and I have him at WR9 (Franklin and McConkey at 5 & 6). AD Mitchell is going to be the biggest bust at WR in this draft, and I don't even get how people view him as a talented route runner or even really an elite athlete on tape. He's the ultimate combine darling, but as a WR I see nothing about him that puts him ahead of probably 10+ WRs in this class. At least Steve isn't as insane as those who have him over BTJ. My top 10 as of right this minute (since I did say I'd come back to this) are: 1. MHJ 2. Nabers 3. Odunze 4. BTJ (...my gut says he'll be better than Odunze) 5. Franklin 6. McConkey (5 & 6 are super close) 7. Coleman 8. Roman Wilson 9. Worthy 10. Pearsall ...hope that clears it up. And by no means do I think I'm definitely right about all of these players, my main criticism of this top 10 is that Steve seemed to hype it up quite a bit for being as sloppy as it was. Went against quite a few of his own opinions from just recent weeks, and it really doesn't seem like he watched that much on quite a few of these guys. After reading a few typical "you've never played football" responses to other people's posts in past videos, I just thought I'd share a counter opinion. Apologies for the novel, and you're right I could've explained myself better the first time.

@@Revanthorn Coleman concerns me if an NFL team drafts him to do what he did at FSU, which was basically just be a jump-ball guy on the outside. Not a good separator, leaves his feet too much unnecessarily, and doesn't have the elusiveness to make people miss after coming down with the ball... that said -- and I know it sounds lofty, especially given the recent contract -- but I think he could be similar to Amon Ra at the next level. He's got really good quickness and speed and hands when the ball is placed accurately out in front of him on shorter throws, and I think he can be a potentially dominant slot receiver if given a similar type of role. I get the "upside" of Mitchell when it comes to his athletic profile, but personally I don't see any of those traits on film. I think he suffers from a similar stiffness and lack of separation and route running on the outside as Coleman, it's just that his 40 deceives people into the possibility. And to me, Coleman has everything else beyond outside speed/elusiveness that a receiver should have...hands, physique, hard worker, knack for making plays in the roles he's given, etc. No doubt I could be wrong, but if I'm an NFL team looking for a legit outside guy I'm staying far away from Mitchell. And if I'm looking for a sneaky, big, physical slot WR I'd take the upside of Coleman all day.

The top-3 WRs was summed up (in 20mins) with bagel analogies, Brian Thomas at 4 really got more hate and disinterest than love, Worthy was a discussion about speed instead of HIM as a WR, AD Mitchell is someone (rightfully) Steve doesn't like...but he's at WR6??? And Franklin and McConkey were pretty much only picked apart as being role players rather than valued for the things they CAN do.
Not hating...but I'll come back to this a year from now and I think my comment will hold up a lot better than the bots in the chat mindlessly giving credit to Steve's insight just because he was an excellent NFL WR. Sorry to say it, but this top 10 was kinda trash!
Franklin run good routes not great but his speed makes that he doesn't have to. Ladd great routes great Hands. Outside and slot.

@@amzzznation You make a good point! I was so focused on getting off my opinion of their rankings I did a poor job explaining my own takeaways.
In order of what I meant to elaborate on with those WRs mentioned above... Brian Thomas is going to be a dawg! Steve might have him at WR4, but his overall opinions on him have seemed pretty low -- questioning his dedication, personality, "that dawg in him", etc.. seemed like just a few weeks ago he was hyping up Legette more, and now XL's his WR9?... confusing.
As for Worthy, Steve kept talking about his speed, but failed to mention how easily knocked out of his game he is and really how one dimensional he is. I get that speed still helps, but having him over Franklin and McConkey is insanity to me. He's a less skilled, less tough Hollywood Brown, IMO, and I have him at WR9 (Franklin and McConkey at 5 & 6).
AD Mitchell is going to be the biggest bust at WR in this draft, and I don't even get how people view him as a talented route runner or even really an elite athlete on tape. He's the ultimate combine darling, but as a WR I see nothing about him that puts him ahead of probably 10+ WRs in this class. At least Steve isn't as insane as those who have him over BTJ.
My top 10 as of right this minute (since I did say I'd come back to this) are:
1. MHJ
2. Nabers
3. Odunze
4. BTJ (...my gut says he'll be better than Odunze)
5. Franklin
6. McConkey (5 & 6 are super close)
7. Coleman
8. Roman Wilson
9. Worthy
10. Pearsall
...hope that clears it up. And by no means do I think I'm definitely right about all of these players, my main criticism of this top 10 is that Steve seemed to hype it up quite a bit for being as sloppy as it was. Went against quite a few of his own opinions from just recent weeks, and it really doesn't seem like he watched that much on quite a few of these guys. After reading a few typical "you've never played football" responses to other people's posts in past videos, I just thought I'd share a counter opinion. Apologies for the novel, and you're right I could've explained myself better the first time.
@MichaelCouture87 You think Keon Coleman is a better prospect than Adonai Mitchell? I would think Mitchell is a more sure product than Coleman, who I like but have concerns over.
@@Revanthorn Coleman concerns me if an NFL team drafts him to do what he did at FSU, which was basically just be a jump-ball guy on the outside. Not a good separator, leaves his feet too much unnecessarily, and doesn't have the elusiveness to make people miss after coming down with the ball... that said -- and I know it sounds lofty, especially given the recent contract -- but I think he could be similar to Amon Ra at the next level. He's got really good quickness and speed and hands when the ball is placed accurately out in front of him on shorter throws, and I think he can be a potentially dominant slot receiver if given a similar type of role.
I get the "upside" of Mitchell when it comes to his athletic profile, but personally I don't see any of those traits on film. I think he suffers from a similar stiffness and lack of separation and route running on the outside as Coleman, it's just that his 40 deceives people into the possibility. And to me, Coleman has everything else beyond outside speed/elusiveness that a receiver should have...hands, physique, hard worker, knack for making plays in the roles he's given, etc.
No doubt I could be wrong, but if I'm an NFL team looking for a legit outside guy I'm staying far away from Mitchell. And if I'm looking for a sneaky, big, physical slot WR I'd take the upside of Coleman all day.

Ladd really grew on me. Possibly a future AB84 type a better set of hands than Dejonte Johnson but just as good route running.

If you are going to a team that has a QB with tremendous arm strength that can capitalize on that speed, absolutely.
