Could you see yourself behind the wheel of the new Highland?
Sure, as soon as it is available for a test drive I want a ride! 😎
No. Still way too expensive to be on most people’s shopping list.
@@superspeeder did you take into account lower maintenance and fueling costs?
We are saving +1000 USD per year on our EV.
@@Arpedk yes, and when I say too expensive I mean relatively. Compared to other similar size cars it costs almost twice as much. I drive a diesel BMW which is extremely fuel efficient, and is an infinitely nicer car (to me) both in looks and quality. The Model 3 is a nice small car, but nowhere near as nice as anything costing comparable money.
My neighbour drives a Nissan Leaf. If your goal is to go electric to save money and you don’t care about style, that car makes much more sense, in my opinion. The Model 3 is more stylish than a Leaf, but it also costs way more and still isn’t a very nice looking car.
@@superspeeder You have to step up to a 5 series BMW to come anywhere near the leg room and storage capacity of the Model 3, and only the most expensive versions challenge the Tesla in performance. The Model 3 AWD long range will be significantly less to own and operate over the 5 years of high mileage in my usage case. Furthermore, Tesla's don't have the quality control issues they used to and the Highland is a big step up into a premium state. I'm not sure what Model you're referring to, but BMW's quality and design direction is hit and miss at best, especially as of late.
50% has been changed.... yes this is enough. They solved all the things that was a little off on the old Model 3. Well done Tesla!
Truly a win for everyone 👍
what about panel gaps?
@@minigiant8998I think that customers who had recently picked up their new Model 3’s had no issues at all with the panel gaps, and this is after hundreds if not thousands of them were produced in the month before deliveries
@@DrearyCash oh, did u survey all the new owners?
@@minigiant8998do you own one? I have no issue.
In my country. The new highland is at the same price as the old one. So definetly worth the wait for me! :)
This is the genius.
I'll bet money it's 10+% cheaper to build even before the full ramp, so they're making more while improving the vehicle for the same price to you.
Try and find that with a model year "upgrade" from another manufacturer.
.
(Be prepared, it will be cheaper in 9-12 months)
Wow that does sound like a crazy deal that's worth the wait!
Can't wait to see the Model Y update.
It won't be any different from the M3 update.
@@grocerylist much more functional, and much more delayed
The new version has an upgraded sound system. Would have been cool if you compared a track on both.
It was already good
true, I want to see the difference between Highland LR vs SR sound system
Still no where close to what bmw gives u with Bolkins&Wilkins and Harmon Kordon. Trust me it's night and day
Significant enough for me to wait for the 24. Taking the leap. ⚡️
Me 2 buddy. Been waiting about a year. Gonna be worth the wait
no quality@@msawyer110
We just switched our primary car to a Y. I've week in and we're debating if it's worth keeping a gasser at all 😅
can you imagine the amount of motion sickness from looking down at the backseat screen for an entire movie. Reminds me of the Rear Entertainment Package on the E65 BMW’s that they charged $2,220 for lol
All that money and they didn't have a proper decibel meter?
Exactly lol
As they stated, this isn't meant to be a scientific test. CarWow used a dB meter and noted lower noise on the new model.
@@jamespaul2587Carwow also used his phone if I recall correctly
I like the new exterior but I also actually liked the wood, which added a bit of charm.
wood was the most eye sore of the interior. You got bad taste dude
Agree. Have a M3 LR and love the wood, conveys warmth and charm. Will order the new M3 in the Spring when the price may have dropped or the financing improves in order for Tesla to reach their sales goals in a sphere of fiercer competition, but will miss the wood in the new one
Fake come on
I agree I liked the wood as it made it feel more premium
Hated the wood, made it feel tacky and cheap.
Great review! What was the thinking on dropping the fog lights? Just cost? Are they redundant with collision avoidance tech? Many drivers find them useful driving through fog.
Fog lights are built into the main lights. The best part ...
Can you confirm that the internal of both the SR and LR is the same? (except from the speakers amount), and if the accessories of old model 3 like screen protector and the carpets match the new highland tesla?
The new Model 3 screen has smaller bezels so it has a larger usable display. The physical dimensions are nearly the same though. So, no, the screen protector from the old Model 3 won't work.
Zero mention of the new 17 speakers and dual subwoofers. Other reviewers LOVE the new sound system.
Thank you for making this extended video 🙏🏻👍🏻. As soon as the Highland performance comes to the States I'm buying it. 😎🤓

Same here waiting to hit order as soon as it lands
Glad we could help!
Hey! I would just like to point out that the doors and the rear quarter panel that also runs below the doors are actually different! First because the doors have more reinforcement and their are small creases on the front door that carry on from the side cameras. Second the rear quarter panel that runs below the doors actually have an extra crease now!
No clue why Tesla claims those panels did not change when they clearly did, even if it was minute.
Wonderful and easy to watch and listen to video on the new model 3! Much better than some new loud and busy RUclips car videos. Thank you!
For the male journalist in this video: There is no side cooling on the old Model 3, that's a hole for chaneling the air and it's for aerodynamic purposes. For the female journalist saying "that's right" on his statement, rounds it up perfectly. You guys have a job to do, don't end your careers like that, you seem like lovely people.
They both suck at their job. She's annoying too.
These guys are in car review and use a free app to test sound levels lolll
I hatttte the new signal indicators and PRD switching 😢 I actually think the older one looks way nicer Not a fan of the small headlights.
What they didn't show is the car automatically selects the gear for you about 90% of the time. It knows if you're in your garage, you want to reverse out, so it automatically selects reverse. Plenty of clarity to what it's doing. I've been using it for several years now and it works well most of the time. About 5% of the time it doesn't have the right gear directly selected, but easy to change. I also expect it will continue to get better, as Tesla never stands still (and they provide free updates for years, unlike other automakers).
With all these refinements and increases in efficiency, why did the range go down? 261 for highland vs 272 for the current rwd?
They weren’t Highway testing.
Could be for several factors, such as New tires versus worn or AC use could have been higher. I would guess the most likely difference in range comes from their unscientific method stating both started at 95% charge, they didn't say how far they ran it down omitting how low they took the state of charge. My guess is they drove them down to the same percentage but with both cars likely on different versions of software the percentage meter is probably not calibrated identically between the two vehicles. Its also not a very good way of measuring range it would be like if I took a car and said I started both cars at a 3/4 of a tank. A true range test would have ran the cars from absolute 100% and until the car was in limp mode.
EXACTLY! Thank you for pointing this out. The current one is listed at 272 and they said (somewhere around the 16 minute mark) that the range has "increased". Everything I have read says it has increased. What they quoted (not tested) was LESS THAN the current model. Something is off.
It didn't, these numbers are not quite correct.
Love it!
With the NVH testing, the highland had bigger wheels so that's why it didn't perform better, but if it's the same with those wheels than the old model with the more comfortable setting then it's an improvement but that hopefully isn't at the expense of handling. tbh this isn't going to be a huge upgrade over the old car, it is really just a refresh.
What were they thinking.. they had the standard range with the same 18” wheel size as the old model right there.
I liked the old one and will miss the wood though I wish the were more interior options like a dark wood option with inserts in the doors for visual interest. Do love the LED light strip though it should extend to the footwells. Even a Ford Fiesta had that option.
Allso, columns didn't need to go away. And where's my tiny driver screen or HUD? And why can't Teslas do 360⁰ top view camera despite all the cameras?? This is a great car and the changes are good but... it's still 95% of the way there for me. Would I still buy it? Yes, yes I would though Model Y fits my needs better.
The exterior changes done to the front really class this car up and make it look so much cleaner. I have the 2021 tesla which lease ends this march and I'm seriously considering another or the new BMW i4.
My lease also terminates in March. I jumped on the $7,500 lease offer before the end of the year and took a Nissan Ariya fully loaded. Total of $10,000 off MSRP and 2.9% finance. Total payments are almost the same as the '21 Model 3. Finally can carry a conversation and/or listen to the radio at 60-70mph. Also, quality of materials and manufacture plus decent road manners with all-wheel drive. Only thing I miss is the way the Tesla one pedal drive allows you to completely stops the car, instead of "almost completely" stop the car with the Ariya.
The new one looks like an AI generated car. It brings me no emotion either good or terrible. It's just so meh. The front looks like a Chinese fish. Nothing interesting at all still looks like an Egg. Still no HUD or gauge clusters or stalks. Car just screams plain jane.
@@G82WattsI now cannot unsee the car I just leased last week looking like a Chinese fish.... Thank you..... 😂
@@stina7 lmao, sorry my dude.. I'd get the bmw i4 tho anyday that thing is fire for an EV. I'm trying to get a g80 m3 this year hopefully 🙏
It looks really good. I didn’t like the 3 before only the 2017+ S. I would love a Tesla to be able to charge at night at home like a phone and never have to go to a gas pump and wait in a 15 min line at Costco behind boomers ever again lol (I go there because it’s 10% cheaper and 45 seconds from my house) Any gas stop station is annoying to me. Imagine if you had to stop at a gas station to buy batteries to power your phone Vs charging it at night.
I’ve considered going electric as long as I can charge at home since I mostly just go to and from work. But if you already find stopping for gas THAT annoying, I suggest never traveling with an electric vehicle or you’ll be waiting around a lot longer for it to charge.
You can charge at home you just need to install the wall charger…
I'm with you on charging at home. I hate stopping at gas stations. Bought our first Tesla two years ago and put 60,000 miles on it. Just bought a second for my wife. Occasionally we do road trips but with the new 250-kW chargers you're generally only at a stop for 15-20 minutes. I just drove from SLC to Beverly Hills last week and it was a nice experience. But 95% of the time the car just charges at home while I sleep.
@@TrendyStone yeah, it takes 2 mins to fill up the car with gas and not to mention listening to that glorious internal combustion engine sound.
@@minigiant8998 2 minutes?
Overall, the refreshed Model 3 is a significant improvement over the pre-refreshed version. It has a more modern design, a more luxurious interior, and better performance.
More luxurious interior? The interior is just a tablet. You control everything with the tablet. How is it more luxurious?
The new one looks like an AI generated car. It brings me no emotion either good or terrible. It's just so meh. The front looks like a Chinese fish. Nothing interesting at all still looks like an Egg. Still no HUD or gauge clusters or stalks. Car just screams plain jane.
@@TonyStone3000lmao fr. This guy thinks adding a little line of ambient lighting and finally getting something that was standard in most cars since 2012 is "luxurious" this cars interior screams cost cutting. Look at the bmw i5 interior vs this it's comical
Do you not know how to use Autopilot? And when in Autopilot, how can it be hard to mess about with the screen? When you're driving you don't need even need to use the screen. All functions can be done with voice commands. Say, "temperature 70", or "Walmart", or "Supercharger", etc..
But first, tell everyone in the car to be quiet when you speak the voice command so the car can understand you.
They should have kept the wood trim, it gives the car a more upscale feel. I hope they make an aftermarket wood trim kit…
It was not actual wood. It looked and felt very cheap in the old Model 3.
I appreciate they did a side by side with the older model 3, but could have done a much better job. How about comparing it to the same color (interior and exterior) with side by side photos. What year was the older model 3? Better synchronizing the side by side driving over the test course, etc.
The car bottomed out...this deserves some followup. And why not get a real decibel meter?
Could have been a much better video
This wasn't a real review/comparison, it was an opinion piece. The hosts aren't car people and don't have the know how or qualifications to do a true review.
Good enough for me!
Do they have bumper camera ?
I have to agree with them when it comes to the display. A HUD isn’t good or worth it. However a display like the model s would be all that’s required and it’s cheap for them to make this change👍🏼 it also looks tremendously better
once you drive a car with a good HUD for a year it's hard to return to normal display or tablet.. but looks like highland has a lot of other features.
Great video thanks
What about parking with Tesla Vision?
Did not care for the presenters; I felt they really gave the impression this is a puff piece and not an actual review of the car. Did Tesla have any editoral input or control for this video?
As far as the car... they've made lots of little changes. I've only got 48,000 km on my 2022 Model 3 RWD but this may make a nice replacement once that car is at 300,000 km. I hope Fremont improves their build quality though, because my '22 has quite a few creaks and rattles inside that my previous $25k Mazda3 lacked, even when I sold it at 210,000 km. Strongly considering moving to a Chevrolet Bolt once the new generation with a NACS connector releases in 2025.
Hmmm, they do a pretty good job and their print version isn't that puffy as they shoot down the Tesla range "estimates." I think, in 10 years, when you finally have 300,000km on your M3 there will be a lot of choices.
After this positive review, I'm surprised that Tesla didn't give them a Cybertruck to review after reading a post that they're asking owners to borrow their truck.
can the stalks be custom installed?
no :(
@@genderlessyoutubefanperson I thought s3xy buttons was working on that though
All tests: inconclusive
Result: way better
WTH? And who in their right mind would ever call a Model 3 “cheap”? I guess I can’t afford to save that much money.
The average new car price is about $49K now. So the M3 RWD costs $39K, less $7.5K fed rebate (at least until 2024), nets about $31.5K which is low. Still it could be pricey for some.
Gee thanks for the review harry styles your career has gone into more than one direction
I wonder what year of the previous gen they used? I hear they made a suspension upgrade between the 2022-2023 years so the difference might be less going from a 23 to a 24 highland
Ok real talk, does it have the HEPA filter and bioweapon mode or parking sensors?
This is great. Now give me a proper long-roof wagon.
Can I control the rear seat ventilation and heating from the front? Or from the app? The only 'person' who will ride in the back is our pitbull, Waldo. I'd like to adjust his environment without having to stop and operate the functions from the rear touch screen.
Likely. You can do it in other models that have the rear screen. It's an option on the front screen while in HVAC mode.
I recently bought a 2023 model 3 so I’m not sure if this is worth trading in for. I do like it though
You guys are fantastic!
IT'S A REFRESH/FACELIFT, not a new model
The 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range has nearly 500 HP and a similar number in torque. It also has a 75 kWh battery, not 85.6. Not sure how you got the numbers so wrong.
With these updates, the lack of HUD and good matrix headlamps are the last of the model 3 downsides.
The new one looks like an AI generated car. It brings me no emotion either good or terrible. It's just so meh. The front looks like a Chinese fish. Nothing interesting at all still looks like an Egg. Still no HUD or gauge clusters or stalks. Car just screams plain jane.
I would definitely buy one.
Almost no close ups of the Grey version recorded, compared with the Red =/
Absolutely welcome facelift. Do not understand though, why people are angry on the review team, maybe because once Americans did not get the facelifted model 1st?
Anyway, probably ordering the highland in white!
Cheers from the EU.
Currently buyers can find Mach-E or Audi E-Tron 2019-2021 for under 30K. Wait a little longer until they hit 25K price. Then apply the $3750 tax credit. Final price low 20's
About time they made using the lights and indicators much, MUCH harder! That stuff has been super easy for way to long.
Why is pushing a button harder than sliding a stalk?
Too bad MotorTrend couldn’t afford a real dB meter…but the improvements are more likely felt in certain frequencies, which the hosts neglected to mention “because ‘science’ “ is more fun to say.
@@lemongavineis that a legitimate question? It’s touch capacitive with haptic feedback for one, so it’s not actually a button. Meaning you can click it and sometimes it doesn’t activate.
Second, a stalk doesn’t change position when turning. A “button” on a steering wheel does. It’s impractical in every way
@@Kakouroche But you’re supposed to signal BEFORE turning the wheel. I never drove one of these so you could be right, but on paper, it seems like a non-issue to me. Also, the Model 3 buttons supposedly feel like real buttons, not like the Plaid which is just haptic.
@@lemongavine In most countries it is illegal not to indicate when leaving a roundabout, i.e. while you are already turning the wheel. And some countries have lots of roundabouts. And in many countries, with smaller, twistier roads (the whole of Europe) you are often needing to indicate a turn while you are going around a bend. Having to take your eyes of the road to try and see where the indicator button is, while you are on a roundabout, is quite dangerous.
All those new smartphones give you the option of T9 keyboard. Does Tesla at least sell a wireless stock option?
Waiting patiently for the Model 3 Highland Performance to replace my 2019 Model 3P.
Same 2019M3P with Performance pack here, but I might just pull the trigger on Highland long range and have performance boost if they have one later on. The performance version might come 2025 or be dropped completely from the line-up. :(
Thumbs up for the Seamaster that the lady wears!
when is the new tesla highland is out for delivery in bay area
Her rocking a sick Omega Seamaster!!!
It’s subjective but I think the old model looks better. If the slight acceleration improvement is software based, I wish they would do an over the air update for the older models.
It's funny how people only care about acceleration. Even if the car looks like a blob and turns no heads. Has no HUD or gauge clusters. 0 luxury. It really is a poor mans quick car these days.
Please upgrade to 4k so that viewers can see more details
Where i liv there no electric plaese advice how i get past dis sir?
So close to perfect. Just add a driver HUD and stalks. Why delete stalks but add a passenger LCD screen
I really like the new eyes. so who knows the release date in east America?
but you are also running the new Highland with 19" wheels. It would be even better with the 18's
Does the refresh still have the turning radius of a tractor?
It’s improved
Tesla has taken cost cutting to the extreme when they redesigned the minimalist interior.
Sat in the back seat of a previous M3 and it was SUPER jittery. Any improvement is welcome.
Yes, very much improved.
Nice
This Model 3 looks like what they thought cars of the future would look like in the early 90s where the ioniq 5 looks like a future car from the mid 80s, I prefer the 80s
For some reason, I like the old design a lot more. The new one looks so generic and boring. I thought the old one was generic already 😂
I think standard range RWD should aim for 5.0s 0-60 like the old one, and they need USS for tight parking. Can't speak on stalks because I've not tried them.
They are definitely WAY over exaggerating how different the exterior is from before. It is barely a refresh for the exterior.
They wanted to rip the gear selector to shreds but the powers that be clearly told them not to 😅
Prefer the older model!
If I can negotiate it with the wife my order will be in this week.
That new md3 lost power it’s only 125 if I’m not mistaken
First ones to review because you agreed to make a 30min commercial for them.
My thoughts exactly. This is not an objective review.
It really becomes hard to watch if you're just looking for actual info and comparison of new features and changes, when all you get is brown-nosing every little detail.
This piece is so annoying to watch! So lifeless.. feels like they are just reading a script given by Tesla!
100% just a commercial and trashing the old one lol; stupid video
Tesla has never don’t pay anyone for advertising
They're comparing it to the old one, so they reviewed what were the significant changes, and they're all better, so there wasn't anything negative to say. The tech and the rest are the same, so they didn't go into detail. Watch a regular review of the car to find out about it's features, pros and cons in more detail.
TAKE MY MONEEEEEYYY!!!!!
Where is the black headliner? Sorry, miss the stalks, but everything else is an improvement. Needs a front camera seeing as the Tesla Vision is garbage.
Does anybody else have videos of their cat riding in an electric car we have a Chevy bolt
I know it’s easy to be critical but here you have 2 people who know very little about cars clearly and you expect people to listen to them about reviews. Sheesh 🙄
sounds great 😂
Is this a review or a commercial?
So which HW does the new Tesla has?
4
HW4.
Bring back Carlos lol
Like the new features but overall I think the Gen 1 exterior looked better. Everyone keeps saying "frog eyes" but I see "Alien Area 51 eyes". I love my 2023 Model 3 Long Range, just wish I had that cool new rear entertainment screen for the kids. Would be nice if they offer it as an accessory upgrade for Gen 1 vehicles for a fee.
Yeah I don’t see frog but I see Spider-Man’s eyes
The new headlights look like they don’t fill the space as well..kinda like when people pluck their eyebrows too much lol
I like the tailights and rear diffuser, I prefer the T badge to the T E S L A lthough
Blinkers were always overpowered… glad they got the nerf
Im getting the Model 3 Plaid ❤
How many times did he say ‘yes’?
Tesla Model 3 ❤❤
no real improvement in range or performance.. but refinement is better and pricing is very good. so i guess its ok
Whelp, it’s been fun. 👋
The model S has a .208 Cd, so highland isn’t the *lowest* from Tesla but better

Wait but if the tail light is on the trunk (a moving piece) now. Wouldn’t US market require some work around of the tail light so it’s on a non-moving piece like the Ferrari California and the Audi Q7/5?
Indicators on trunk and lower bumper. Legal
Question: is the Highland made only in China for US market or is it made in US in Fremont or Texas?
Great question!
Currently only in China for world markets, but USA models will be built in Freemont.
Fremont, CA for all North American sales of the Model 3.
They're made in California for the US market. None of the Teslas sold in NA are made in China.
The wood was superior
Not sure about the constant motor journalist hate of the previous design. Then in other videos praise bmws
6.9 m subscribers...can't get a proper standalone sound meter to do the tests? strange world we live in
Why are these reviews so biased. They make it sound like one piece rear lights is the greatest thing on earth but has been on other cars. Stop stating what the companies say and review it based on your opinion
so motor trend can't afford db meters. got it.
Felt like a buzzfeed video
This girl needs to write her content before. No more freestyling.
