      @@Arpedk yes, and when I say too expensive I mean relatively. Compared to other similar size cars it costs almost twice as much. I drive a diesel BMW which is extremely fuel efficient, and is an infinitely nicer car (to me) both in looks and quality. The Model 3 is a nice small car, but nowhere near as nice as anything costing comparable money.
      My neighbour drives a Nissan Leaf. If your goal is to go electric to save money and you don’t care about style, that car makes much more sense, in my opinion. The Model 3 is more stylish than a Leaf, but it also costs way more and still isn’t a very nice looking car.

    • @kenhiett5266
      @kenhiett5266 9 месяцев назад +4

      @@superspeeder You have to step up to a 5 series BMW to come anywhere near the leg room and storage capacity of the Model 3, and only the most expensive versions challenge the Tesla in performance. The Model 3 AWD long range will be significantly less to own and operate over the 5 years of high mileage in my usage case. Furthermore, Tesla's don't have the quality control issues they used to and the Highland is a big step up into a premium state. I'm not sure what Model you're referring to, but BMW's quality and design direction is hit and miss at best, especially as of late.

    Hey! I would just like to point out that the doors and the rear quarter panel that also runs below the doors are actually different! First because the doors have more reinforcement and their are small creases on the front door that carry on from the side cameras. Second the rear quarter panel that runs below the doors actually have an extra crease now!
    No clue why Tesla claims those panels did not change when they clearly did, even if it was minute.

      What they didn't show is the car automatically selects the gear for you about 90% of the time. It knows if you're in your garage, you want to reverse out, so it automatically selects reverse. Plenty of clarity to what it's doing. I've been using it for several years now and it works well most of the time. About 5% of the time it doesn't have the right gear directly selected, but easy to change. I also expect it will continue to get better, as Tesla never stands still (and they provide free updates for years, unlike other automakers).

      They weren’t Highway testing.

    • @everythingisinflux
      @everythingisinflux 9 месяцев назад

      Could be for several factors, such as New tires versus worn or AC use could have been higher. I would guess the most likely difference in range comes from their unscientific method stating both started at 95% charge, they didn't say how far they ran it down omitting how low they took the state of charge. My guess is they drove them down to the same percentage but with both cars likely on different versions of software the percentage meter is probably not calibrated identically between the two vehicles. Its also not a very good way of measuring range it would be like if I took a car and said I started both cars at a 3/4 of a tank. A true range test would have ran the cars from absolute 100% and until the car was in limp mode.

    • @ABG2412
      @ABG2412 9 месяцев назад +1

      EXACTLY! Thank you for pointing this out. The current one is listed at 272 and they said (somewhere around the 16 minute mark) that the range has "increased". Everything I have read says it has increased. What they quoted (not tested) was LESS THAN the current model. Something is off.

    With the NVH testing, the highland had bigger wheels so that's why it didn't perform better, but if it's the same with those wheels than the old model with the more comfortable setting then it's an improvement but that hopefully isn't at the expense of handling. tbh this isn't going to be a huge upgrade over the old car, it is really just a refresh.

    • @ericy.2108

    I liked the old one and will miss the wood though I wish the were more interior options like a dark wood option with inserts in the doors for visual interest. Do love the LED light strip though it should extend to the footwells. Even a Ford Fiesta had that option.
    Allso, columns didn't need to go away. And where's my tiny driver screen or HUD? And why can't Teslas do 360⁰ top view camera despite all the cameras?? This is a great car and the changes are good but... it's still 95% of the way there for me. Would I still buy it? Yes, yes I would though Model Y fits my needs better.

Also, quality of materials and manufacture plus decent road manners with all-wheel drive. The new one looks like an AI generated car. It brings me no emotion either good or terrible. It's just so meh. The front looks like a Chinese fish. Nothing interesting at all still looks like an Egg. Still no HUD or gauge clusters or stalks. Car just screams plain jane.

      Too bad MotorTrend couldn’t afford a real dB meter…but the improvements are more likely felt in certain frequencies, which the hosts neglected to mention “because ‘science’ “ is more fun to say.

    • @Kakouroche
      @Kakouroche 9 месяцев назад +9

      @@lemongavineis that a legitimate question? It’s touch capacitive with haptic feedback for one, so it’s not actually a button. Meaning you can click it and sometimes it doesn’t activate.
      Second, a stalk doesn’t change position when turning. A “button” on a steering wheel does. It’s impractical in every way

    • @lemongavine
      @lemongavine 9 месяцев назад +9

      @@Kakouroche But you’re supposed to signal BEFORE turning the wheel. I never drove one of these so you could be right, but on paper, it seems like a non-issue to me. Also, the Model 3 buttons supposedly feel like real buttons, not like the Plaid which is just haptic.

    • @garymurphy3354
      @garymurphy3354 9 месяцев назад +10

      @@lemongavine In most countries it is illegal not to indicate when leaving a roundabout, i.e. while you are already turning the wheel. And some countries have lots of roundabouts. And in many countries, with smaller, twistier roads (the whole of Europe) you are often needing to indicate a turn while you are going around a bend. Having to take your eyes of the road to try and see where the indicator button is, while you are on a roundabout, is quite dangerous.

The tech and the rest are the same, so they didn't go into detail. Watch a regular review of the car to find out about it's features, pros and cons in more detail.
