Which are you buying? Why?? EDIT: You BYD fanboys are hilarious 🤣 We never said it copied the Highland variant, we said it copied the Model 3 - and it very clearly did. The model 3 “bulge” has been there for years, since it first came out.
Neither. Both are made in the same country with questionable build quality and reliability issues, not to mention the batteries themselves. If I had to choose with a gun pointing at my head, I would go with the Tesla only because there is marginally a better quality through oversight over the BYD and nothing more. If the value proposition of all EVs were marketed significantly cheaper than the petrol variants considering the cost of living crisis and recession at the moment, I would go with a German or Japanese version every single time.
I drove a Seal Performance and a M3 Long Range dual motor and ended up ordering the Tesla. To me, the Tesla was just so much nicer to drive, quieter and smoother around town. Plus, I don't have to take the Tesla back to a dealer and get it serviced for $300-400 every 20K as you have to do with the BYD. I do about 50K a year and that made a big difference.
Why is the BYD handling worse when I didn't hear tire understeering noise and didn't observe as much body roll as I did in the Model 3 in those tight corners y demonstrated?
And now you are waiting hours on highway during long trip for charging, while the Tesla guy finished charging in 10/15 minutes without any searching for chargers. Good luck
Test drove both. Picked the Seal. Coming from a European car i prefer the Seal interior. The ride quality and NVH is better in the seal for city driving due to it's softer suspension. Built quality is also better in the BYD. Silver tinted roof made a huge difference when i test drove this summer compared to the Highland. Not to mention parking sensors, stalks, gear shift, buttons, 360 camera, V2L, HUD just to name a few. BYD also does OTA just like the Tesla which you've failed to mention and it fixed most of the ADAS sensitivity issues now. I'm not a racing driver wannabe so it's a better family sedan compared to the highland.
So your BYD had issues, i have my Model 3 for a while now. Never had a SINGLE issue. Also the ADAS from BYD is not developed by themselves. Unlike at Tesla it's all developed by themselves.
@@HermanWillemsNo ADAS issues in Teslas? You obviously haven't owned one for very long, they have taken years of OTA updates to get it right. BYD sorted it out with software updates in a coupe of months.
I will put my money on BYD! I find the design to be a lot nicer. By promoting minimalist, Tesla made a lot of cost cutting but not enough is done pricewise and that I would say doesn't benefit the buyers. They are obviously getting less for the money.
Tesla did cost cutting? You sure about that? How much cost did they actually cut by removing a few very useful physical in the cabin? You can buy a keyboard for under 10 dollars, and that has 102 buttons.
Ok, another shallow post. I’m curious, it appears you chose the less safe car, less efficient, less rigid chassis bearing in mind Tesla is using gigacasting, less connected, less app control, no equiv autopilot, less processing power, no octovalve - reverse cycle air conditioning, less quiet. And shorter warranty by 2 years. BYD on my last check also has poor integration into home automation and charging/ peak/ off peak / solar and battery utilization. Users also don’t have access to seals API. BYD seal as far as I know doesn’t utilize aluminum panels and carts around a few hundred kilos of extra mass. Tesla is also renowned for major software updates that have progressively added significant features year on year. Is the BYD is tied to the dealership model still? There’s a lot more to the decision making than styling alone. The seal is a nice car. Styling is and always will be subjective, but is the price comparably less to overlook the big ticket items from above? Or is safety and warranty less of a concern? Seems like the decision making is more on looks than tech, performace and safety… If you bother spending time to understand the deeper aspects of what Tesla have been doing. They are not cost cutting. They are pushing further ahead than any other manufacturer has done in years. Unlike other manufacturers they also have the overheads of building car factories and production processes from the ground up. The fact the cars are as affordable as they are is a testament to their engineering and manufacturing processes. Why is a new company making the 4 safest cars in the world? They are now paving the way to 48v low voltage architecture and steer by wire tech…. Watch everyone else follow. The same as casting chassis. They are one of the few manufacturers that are regularly reducing the cost of their cars when everyone else is going up over a long term scale. I’m blown away how you could make a statement like “getting less for the money”. You sir have not done your research and your decision making and justification is skin deep.
The BYD Seal Premium is an absolute marvel, blending high-end performance with sleek design at a price point that's shaking up the luxury EV segment. This car is not just a ride; it's an experience that sets new benchmarks for what premium electric vehicles can be!
But you will once you realise how much money BYD demands very year for servicing you car. Also the software is a joke and they don't even try FSD. You bought a car that is not at all future proof. And you will regret that big time.
We ordered Seal. Testdrive of tesla was good, but quality of Teslas and that bad warranty made us buy Seal. Basic Coverage 80 000 km / 4 years vs. BYD Seal 6 years / 150,000 km. In Germany Tesla Model 3 Is the Car That Failed the Most in Germany's Mandatory Vehicle Inspection. Thats super bad for new car that costs that much. And here in Finland new cars first Mandatory Vehicle Inspection is done when its 4 years old. And many ppl including me wil go much more than 80 000km in 4 years so before first inspection warranty is already gone.. Teslas software might be good, but cars might not be best quality. And about the supercharges. Those are open for everyone here where I live so it doesnt matter.
@@truongkimson Yeah it might fail. But with 6 years or 150,000 kms Vehicle Warranty its not that big problem. In 4 years i wont go over 150 000km, but Teslas 80 000km wouldn't be enough. Here in Finland first inspection is after 4 years and Teslas fail in 3 years in Germany so is it even safe to drive 4 years without inspection. On the forums ppl who own Teslas tell that they go for isnpection even before the 4 year deadline, so they can have car fixed under warranty. Idk about you but for me that sounds bad deal for 50k€ car.
@@Santeri.E certainly a bad deal for a Tesla. Just curious why you’re more confident with an unproven product like the Seal. You should read the fine prints on what is covered/not covered in their 6yrs/150k km. I’d rather be skeptical
I'm so surprise to see that 80% of the comments seem to think BYD Seal is better. I tested both cars, I do agree with the majority that BYD Seal is better than TM3.
The BYD Seal was released before the new Model 3 so It's actually the new Tesla Model 3 that takes a lot of inspiration from the BYD Seal. The problem is most people in the West can't imagine that they're not at the center of the automative industry. But China is the most important market for most Western automakers including Tesla and changes are made for Chinese consumers primarily. Tesla clearly changed the Model 3 to keep up with BYD in China.
@@catbert7 they could've have benchmarked the seal off the Tesla Model 3 but since BYD took the lead in China Tesla is now benching marking off the Seal. And doing the same not just off the Seal but other BYD's and Chinese cars. The new Model 3 headlights clearly take inspiration from the Seal. Very obvious if you had been following the Seal from its release before the new Model 3. None of this would be controversial if BYD and other China automakers benchmarking from Tesla wasn't meant to seem like it was copying.
1/The front of the byd taking inspiration from the refreshed model 3 was a flat lie. the seal came way before the new model 3 which has changed a lot. 2/Why placing the wireless charging there is a copy of the model 3? Is the Model 3 the first car to do that?NO, tesla introduced wireless charging in their cars only in 2018. Tesla's painting coming off is nothing new, that is why everyone does ppf otherwise it starts coming off in a few months. I do find the new model 3 interior nicer, but I pick the byd. driving these new Teslas with all these removed parts is a safety hazard: no indicator stalk, no gear shifter, no 360-degree camera, no sensors, no radars, no small screen etc, etc. Would y buy a car like that for your mother or grandmother? be serious
Please do not judge all Australians to this guy who.s comments are all over the place and inaccurate. I have driven both and the BYD seal is I’m sure a good car but not the best driving car and very busy inside. The M3 was a breathe of fresh air when driven even the minimalist was like finally no useless buttons you only use once to set up and then just gather dust! Also better tech in the M3.
Just hired one for 48 hours thanks to work, navigating all the wild road’s Melbourne had to offer and approx 500km of driving. Going back into my car with an indicator stalk felt lame. At NO point did I have an issue with not being able to comprehend my left and rights. At no point was I dazzled and confused in a round about because - typically your not hand over hand in a round about. (If your turning your wheel more then 100 degrees in round abouts you have issues 😂) But then again. Spacial orientation is part of an IQ test. Some people just won’t be able to comprehend something a little different. Don’t knock it till you tried it. It’s absolutely mint.
@@ibsn87 specially when you are being rude and sarcastic, it misses your point, even if valid. @@deltazeros so, have you tried it? People literally say “how will I know what button to press in a round about”. Like what and where are people losing track of a button in a round about on a wheel that’s directly in front of them? People are literally making excuses to hate it, before they have tried it. And further more - try to justify it with bizzare statements, like how hard it would be to navigate a round about and indicate accordingly…. In my last approx 500,000 driving, I don’t recall a time I was hand over hand in a round about. In a smaller round about, The “left” button MIGHT be up toward the 1 o’clock potion at most? The sneaky little bugger. Very evasive and unpredictable. If you actually think about how you indicate through a round about in either setup, you usually indicate “out” as you turn back through steering centre……. Sorry my indirect generalized spacial orientation comment was rude 😂 people these days get upset about pronouns. Now it’s sarcastic comments about spacial orientation of a button on a steering wheel triggering individuals! Ps, not sure I rate the loss of the gear stalk in a quick 3 point turn on a busy street. Anywho, the clean aesthetic is mint, and believe it or not, it’s actually nice to use. As per my first comment. Don’t knock it, till you tried it. It’s just fine. And everyone who had a go of it enjoyed it after adjusting their muscle memory for 2 minutes.
Better interior quality: I don't think so. I also consider the BYD's interior to be very, very ugly. I guess it's something Australian to prefer BYD. In Europe they're not even close. For me: M3, no doubt!

I think BYD could make the BYD logo a bit smaller, it's still too big, and get rid of the second BYD next to the SEAL, there is no need for BYD twice on the rear of the car.
The interior, or the lack of it, of Tesla, is a no go for me. The minimalism is just a sugarcoat of “cheap” and “stingy”. It is more like a cheap Korean car from 20 years ago while the Seal is comparable to luxury German cars. On performance they both have more than enough for 99.999% of the drivers in real life.
Tesla could Programm a steering wheel in the center screen, and sell it to there customers as innovative future. And u will find Fanboys telling u, it’s absolute fine to drive by touchscreen 😆
In Asia namely Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and etc everybody prefers BYD seal anyday over Tesla. From the look, interior, design, range, speed, and etc and etc. It definitely fits more to our taste.
I am about to say that too. Tesla Innovation seems cumbersome. And the way that you operate is like you want to show off the innovation yet you sacrifice the usability. The rear seat in Tesla model 3, turn me off. Unless I am still single and without family, I would probably dont mind the rear seat being narrow. Going in and out of the rear seat is a pain. Model Y is better.
@@Suwael-15 A Tesla won't drive itself within the next 15 years. And it wont work at all using their camera only system, because it just doesn't provide enough data. This has been proven by every company that actually has self driving taxi's.
Both great cars, but I’d have to take the Tesla, not because it’s a better car necessarily, as I like the Seal’s looks, but for the Tesla ecosystem. It’s just a lot better than anything else out there and no sign that will improve to anything like Tesla’s in the near future. If you’re doing any substantial mileage, having the Supercharger network and the Tesla car software and phone app just make everything easier.

The only thing that would make me choose the Tesla is the availability of its charging infrastructure and dealerships for any services or assistance needed. Otherwise, the BYD Seal had me sold on everything else and is the better car, in my opinion. Especially cause it has a normal fuckin gear selector and parking sensors. Not just a screen slider and touch buttons up top. The BYD will still give you the feeling of driving a normal car.
I drove both and liked the seal more as it felt like a car, I’m 52 so old fashioned, but have driven some cars in my time and found the seal better. Good on you guys keep up the great reviews
I test drove both T3 and BYD. For me, I loved the performance BYD and the driving experience was much better overall than the T3. You say "conventional" - I say, "less basic". The T3 was way way too far minimalistic. To actually put 70k down on a car that has so little to excite me was just not an option. I think car reviewers dont truly, truly understand the feel of putting their own hard earned money down on a car enough. Each to their own though. The Seal is full of little intricacies, higher performance, cheaper, more quality, and turns heads.
In Thailand, my daughter ordered a Tesla Model 3 because while traveling she could view and control the rear media display herself. 😅 When I owned more than 10,000 Km., I liked the average energy consumption of 127kwh /100 Km. and the CCTV security system around the car that could be viewed through my mobile phone at all times. 😊 As for the BYD Seal software system. Not impressed And there is no rear monitor. In addition, many parts of the suspension need to be improved. Because the car was tossing around a lot, the passengers were dizzy.😅

@@netopierro10 fair enough, here the price is close to each other, just been reading a lot of comments around “Tesla robbing customers”, and giving them nothing for their money. People seem to associate complexity with interior buttons and miss even fine details like an extra 2 years warranty. Test drove a Seal, all I can say is Wow!! The ride, comfort and build quality made the Tesla look very cheap inside. Ordered a performance on the spot in White, came home and cancelled my Tesla order, so a big thank you to Tesla for delaying my order😊
This review seems like they were paid by Tesla. BYD blows Tesla out in every aspect, specially the interior quality. Dont understand what was their logic to rate Tesla better in that department. FYI, i own none of these vehicles, just an honest personal opinion.

As the owner of a 2022 Model 3 RWD, I have recently tested driven both the Seal and Highland. In short I’m changing to the BYD. To be honest, in everyday driving I didn’t notice that big a difference between my M3 and the new one. On the same drive, it was 10% more efficient but I really didn’t notice a better ride quality or that it was that much quieter. Maybe that is down to NZ’s coarse chip roads. The ventilation system is still just as poor as in my car, particularly on fresh air rather than recirculating. And now, as well as removing the radar and USS, they have done away with the steering column stalks. That, combined with no driver’s display, makes the (budget driven) “minimalist” interior a step too far. When compared to the Seal, the Tesla interior looks and feels cheap. After 2 years the creaks and rattles have started to appear in my Tesla. I can’t comment on whether that would be evident in the Seal because they haven’t been around long enough. The Seal is a better “Grand Tourer” in my opinion and because I drive in a relaxed manner, comfort is more important than sports car handling. The voice assistant is just as good at interpreting my Kiwi accent as the Tesla although it doesn’t include the option to use the juvenile language such as “open butt-hole” to open the charging flap (yes I know it’s manual on the BYD). What it does do though, thanks to wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, is give access to your phone’s voice assistant through the steering wheel button (long press). Tesla Superchargers are not as ubiquitous in NZ as other countries and they are the same (high) cost, so they are less of a factor in purchasing.
Wife and I both got the seal. She bought the performance I bought premium. Cabin is far more comfortable than the Tesla. The panoramic roof far better quality for Aussie conditions.
@@jamasa84 Premium I think is the sweet spot. For extra $9k get bigger battery, better range, faster performance, heads up display, leather seats, faster dc charging &, couple of other things. @@kasmstamps1897 a bigger battery is like paying more for a bigger fuel tank. Unless you’re regularly driving more than 400kms, what is the point? Model 3 is for bachelors and seal for people with a family. Pros and cons. M3 may have a better driving experience, but it is only for the driver. They are both cheap EVs mostly for daily driving. A little bit faster and better handling at high speed cutting corners doesn't beat the comfort in Seal. All seats are comfortable in seal, especially the back seats. Again. If you are single and driving it alone most of the time, definitely M3, otherwise Seal would be a much better choice.
I invested in BYD two years ago, along with Uncle Warren and Grandpa Charlie (RIP Charlie, we miss you much!). It's one of my top-performing stocks in my long-term retirement IRA portfolio. BYD is the world's largest manufacturer of plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, and they have a vertically integrated business model. There's more to the company than just vehicles - do some research and you'll see what I mean. The main thing holding the stock price back is the "buy American" agenda pushed by the political class and elites.
Warren is selling his stock you know right? The problem is not BYD but the CPC communist party that is destroying private companies and supporting state owned companies in China. The problem in political world on earth is autocratic regimes where a few people control everything. This is not good.
Thanks for the review! Don't forget voice commands are available for many functions in a Tesla so you don't necessarily need to use the screen ("open glovebox", "I'm cold/hot" etc). Also iphone integration is very functional - you can stream music (and control using the steering wheel's scroll wheels), dictate text messages to send via your phone and so on. Also, changing settings like seat position etc are a once-only thing - they are saved with your profile and set automatically when the car recognises who you are (your phone is your key normally, not the card). Does the BYD do this? - Tom Gan's reviews seem to say you need to change some the car's settings before each drive?? (not seats obviously..). Agree that it is a pity they neutered the sound system in the new Standard Range, otherwise (apart from acceleration) there isn't a lot of practical difference - the long range has a bigger battery and longer max range, but it's not recommended to charge more than 80% on a regular basis, while the standard range LFP battery can (and should) be charged to 100% as normal practice and in that case has much the same range as the long range. Regarding using the card key to unlock the car - not the usual case: normally your phone is your key and the car automatically unlocks when you come into bluetooth range, and locks when you move away.
Thanks Matt. You are correct on the final thoughts "I wouldnt go for the base model , I wouldnt go for the performance " The premium is the optimal choice here as dynamic looses too much grunt , the performance version falls short of performance. The EV tends to loose a bit off puff after 110km , this never made sense when Jake was explaining but driving the premium version and I see what he meant. It is faster like I can still keep up with anyone overtaking me at 110km but the 0- 70Km is swift compared to 80-110km.
Charging network is now opening up to other manufacturers with adapter - at least in the USA in any event, historically only 10% of charging is done on a network 90% at home.
A larger battery is fine. But the kWh/100 km consumption is higher in the BYD. Every kWh the car needs, has to be paid. So why not compare the cost of driving in AUD/100 km for both models? E.g. cost of charging at home and (average price of) fast charger per kWh.
The main thing is saftey and software. Tesla will definitely always keep updating software. I have a 2019 model 3 and will get updates until the car dies. With saftey its hard to beat Tesla. Look up the crash test reports in your country to see the saftey score. Here in the US it is 4.8/5.
I'll go for BYD 1. More physical button which I could stay focus on road condition and control car / entertainment system simultaneously. 2. Tesla 3 exterior look boring after so many year in market. Old and New model 3 look similar exterior 3. BYD's sunroof without central bar look way better
As for the TM3. When it comes to safety you don’t remove anything. Have redundant systems that compliment the main. Don’t rely on just one thing. If it crashes in to things while parking what’s it going to do at speed?... great review and Chanel guys.
Great review, but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what camera you say tesla removed because they've never had a camera in the bumper, I'm guessing your talking about the radar they removed in the bumper back in 2021, they have always had 3 in the front windshield, 2 on the sides, 2 in the middle pillar, 1 in the back and 1 in the cabin. Please correct me if I'm wrong, thx.
If BYD had these in Australia for 5 years already and they were lasting well, I'd look at the Seal. At this stage though, I think I would rather wait and see how they age.
I once test drove the model Y, my neck was crooked at the end because my eyes constantly focused at the speedometer on the centre screen instead on the road. I really wonder how the model 3, Y and Cybertruck was passed the safety tests in the first place?
Oh i see BYD fanboys all over the place and commenting furiously to justify their purchase of byd. Chill, they are both good cars, i would prefer to have one of each, best of both worlds.
when you are using 350kw charging. You dont get 350kw all the way. maybe from 10%-40% you will get 350KW, towards the 60-80%, you will probably getting between 70kw-120kw.
The fact that new car (BYD Seal) is being compared to eight year old Tesla proves that Model 3 is a bench mark. Clearly, new BYD owners are furious that their car is still being considered as second best. Sorry, too bad too sad. Just get on with your choice and call it a day. Be thankful to Tesla for pushing other car manufacturers to come up with something better, finally, after eight years, BYD made a good car if not better.
Interior space? The fundamental design principle that springs to mind with the BYD is “All emphasis is NO emphasis”. It looks way too busy, cluttered and that puts me off. The Tesla is so minimalist apart from the screens, it would take a while to adjust to.
Great comparison review - I went for the Model 3 mainly for it's software tech - prefer not having a key fob and having to lock the car manually when walking away (unless BYD has added this feature since I last test drove it??) - having the car 'route plan' charging stops on long trips is another 'must have' for me as well as the Supercharger network - being able to charge at 11kw AC at home is another plus - very happy with my Model 3. That's not to say that the BYD Seal is bad car - far from it, it's just not the EV for me 😊
The reason we went BYD is it's much better in so many ways. Our BYD is so perfectly built. if you look at the attention to detail and build quality BYD is outstanding compared to Tesla creaks and rattles.
Have driven both of these. The Tesla is a really sporty drive, very responsive. Back seat tight, no cables, no roof cover but you have the Tesla supercharger network and ecosystem. The Seal is very quiet but a bit softly sprung in the front. It has V2L which would be great to have, charge during the day, power your house at night. The Seal colour range is much nicer.
I just came across your Channel. I am now a subscriber. I’m coming from a M135i BMW which I have loved. The three cars in my sights are the Tesla Model 3 and Y, and Seal. Will be test driving the Seal next weekend after driving the Tesla’s yesterday. Handling first, Random steering inputs and Phantom Braking will make my decision I think… Thanks for the great video.
Seal nice interior n bigger rear seats. Con - launch 2022. No enuf track history on reliability. M3 - launch 2017. A good few years of track history. Better hardware n software integration. Frequent updates thru the years. Con - rear seats small. Both are good cars. Different strokes for different folks.
Nice review, thoroughly enjoyed it. Just an observation from my perspective. To me the interior of a byd wins hands down over the Tesla. Not because it looks more normal but because of the presence of a HUD. I have a model Y, love the car, but i strongly maintain a HUD would have made it much better(and safer). Here in Melbourne, we have speed cameras every few km, and a speed tolerance of just 2kmph. Not having to take my eyes off the road to check my speed (or for navigation info) is just safer. Lastly, my model y squeaks and rattles, if the byd doesn't rattle, that's another win for the interior. Overall i agree with you that the model 3 wins hands due to its superior driving dynamics
Ok. I’m curious, it appears you chose the less safe car, less efficient, less rigid chassis bearing in mind Tesla is using gigacasting, less connected, less app control, no equiv autopilot, less processing power, no octovalve - reverse cycle air conditioning, less quiet. Glad that there are options for buyers. I would choose Tesla every day and night. The software, app, drivetrain, phone key, autopilot, charging speeds, crash safety, safety features, camp mode, navigation and overall utility. The BYD has nice interior.
BYD Seal
I drove a Seal Performance and a M3 Long Range dual motor and ended up ordering the Tesla. To me, the Tesla was just so much nicer to drive, quieter and smoother around town. Plus, I don't have to take the Tesla back to a dealer and get it serviced for $300-400 every 20K as you have to do with the BYD. I do about 50K a year and that made a big difference.
Why is the BYD handling worse when I didn't hear tire understeering noise and didn't observe as much body roll as I did in the Model 3 in those tight corners y demonstrated?

Test drove both. Picked the Seal. Coming from a European car i prefer the Seal interior. The ride quality and NVH is better in the seal for city driving due to it's softer suspension. Built quality is also better in the BYD. Silver tinted roof made a huge difference when i test drove this summer compared to the Highland. Not to mention parking sensors, stalks, gear shift, buttons, 360 camera, V2L, HUD just to name a few. BYD also does OTA just like the Tesla which you've failed to mention and it fixed most of the ADAS sensitivity issues now. Gayhead.
So your BYD had issues, i have my Model 3 for a while now. Never had a SINGLE issue. Also the ADAS from BYD is not developed by themselves. Unlike at Tesla it's all developed by themselves.

By promoting minimalist, Tesla made a lot of cost cutting but not enough is done pricewise and that I would say doesn't benefit the buyers. They are obviously getting less for the money.

Or it might be that you seem ignorant of there being a model 3 before the Seal, that was around for years before the new one 🤦♂️
@@catbert7 they could've have benchmarked the seal off the Tesla Model 3 but since BYD took the lead in China Tesla is now benching marking off the Seal. Just hired one for 48 hours thanks to work, navigating all the wild road’s Melbourne had to offer and approx 500km of driving. Going back into my car with an indicator stalk felt lame. At NO point did I have an issue with not being able to comprehend my left and rights. At no point was I dazzled and confused in a round about because - typically your not hand over hand in a round about. exactly!
To be honest they were saying the same with the old model .
Tesla Superchargers are not as ubiquitous in NZ as other countries and they are the same (high) cost, so they are less of a factor in purchasing.
how are you getting a new car after two years lol
no HUD, no traditional dash, no blinker stalk, no buttons, no rear cross traffic sensors, no radar/sonar/lidar, no sale. BYD for me.
Wife and I both got the seal. She bought the performance I bought premium. Cabin is far more comfortable than the Tesla. The panoramic roof far better quality for Aussie conditions.
It’s better for non tech people any day, China is superior technology any day. Good choice
wait till BYD get a facelift..
better tablet, UI, and software
If it's the UI that's holding you back, I would imagine that any software update would be retroactive via update.
Reportedly, BYD has updated the software in March this year
I do love and use the screen rotation feature in the byd. Prefer the portrait mode when using the navigation
Why wouldn't you go the base model of the Seal? Have you driven one?
Very few have as they haven't been delivered yet. Till then have to watch Premium & Performance reviews.
@@kasmstamps1897 ok so why does he say he doesn’t recommend it?
@@jamasa84 Premium I think is the sweet spot. For extra $9k get bigger battery, better range, faster performance, heads up display, leather seats, faster dc charging &, couple of other things. Unfortunately I can't afford Premium so I'm getting Dynamic.
Base Dynamic Seal I think is better and, cheaper than high optioned Attos, MG4s or other. JMO but I think others will draw similar conclusions for themselves.
@@kasmstamps1897 a bigger battery is like paying more for a bigger fuel tank. Unless you’re regularly driving more than 400kms, what is the point? That’s a whole lot of wasted battery cells not doing anything except weighing the car down.
Additionally, the performance benefit of the premium over the dynamic is minimal. People need to be smarter about these things. More is not always better.
No mention of one pedal driving, which is a big issue for me… it is so intuitive in the Tesla…
It is always politically safer to rate Tesla higher.🤣
Is that because the BYD is a less safe car, less efficient, less rigid chassis bearing in mind Tesla is using gigacasting, less connected, less app control, no equiv autopilot, less processing power, no octovalve - reverse cycle air conditioning, less quiet.
Seems like the decision making is more on looks than tech, performace and safety…
So, is it political. Or are others in denial because they don’t actually understand what’s really going on ? I think it’s the latter.
For now...SEAL is the best choice for EV 👍
Tesla, too different for difference sake. Decades of driving I like my dash screen and indicator stalks. Agree, BYD need to improve handling.
how does the BYD handle navigation to chargers? Will it make suggestions or does it use google maps (or anything else)? Does it autolock or do you need to use a key(fob)?
You guys missed the most Important thing, which is charging and the charging network. Unless someone else comes up with the same Tesla supercharging network, I'm keeping my Tesla. And we have 2 electric cars at home, 1 tesla and another one non-tesla, and I know the painful experience of taking a non-tesla car for long trip.
I think BYD is better at most aspects. Yet there is Xioami Su7 that is killer too
Too bad the Xiaomi won't be exported from China anytime soon, but the SU7 is legit one of the most hyped car launches in recent memory, and consumers agree because it gathered well over 100,000 preorders in less than 24 hours.
Tesla.
Safest car in class, more efficient, more rigid chassis with a cast chassis, way more connected, way more app control, autopilot, way more processing power, octovalve - reverse cycle air conditioning, quieter. Longer warranty by 2 years.
How shallow is your decision making here lol? Better at most aspects???
BYD is tied to the dealership model. No thanks
@@ibsn87 Ok, I’m curious, it appears you have stocks in tesla as people choosing the safer model over the tesla seem to anger you somehow. Probably linked to your stock portfolio.
@@ensteffo Sorry it offended you. I brought a conversation, I brought facts. If it makes you feel better, I’ve spent considerable time in both. I also don’t have stocks, I wish I had. Bet you do too!
Ever heard of the conversation about who’s better, ford or Holden. It’s pretty common to compare vehicles mate. That’s EXACTLY what this channel is doing. Would you like me to finish with your maturity…. You must work for the dealerships.
Your comment also doesn’t make sense to me, as the Tesla technically has a higher safety rating as per my original comment. However both max out the star rating hence why Tesla are pushing to add more stars and change the scale. As happened with energy rating systems for white goods…. Both are safe cars, however, the Tesla got a whopping 96% for adult occupant protection.
Model 3 96%,87%,75%,94%, (352)
seal - 89%,87%, 82%,75% (333)
@@ibsn87Do you even know what you're on about? The TM3 doesn't have a cast chassis, unlike the Model Y.
Picked up the Seal Performance on friday and it's great. Personal preference.
Byd far better after driving Tesla for last 3 years
How much do they pay you to lie like this?
ruclips.net/video/IInTanHjnK0/видео.html
You are correct on the final thoughts "I wouldnt go for the base model , I wouldnt go for the performance "
The premium is the optimal choice here as dynamic looses too much grunt , the performance version falls short of performance.
The EV tends to loose a bit off puff after 110km , this never made sense when Jake was explaining but driving the premium version and I see what he meant. It is faster like I can still keep up with anyone overtaking me at 110km but the 0- 70Km is swift compared to 80-110km.
they'd be preferable in a liftback
Heard there is a lift back / sportback byd model coming late 2024
e2 is the byd hatchback coming late 2024
Did the model 3 have a front camera in the bumper?
If they are close as cars. Which they look be. It's Tesla every time because of the charging network
Charging network is now opening up to other manufacturers with adapter - at least in the USA in any event, historically only 10% of charging is done on a network 90% at home.
@@rcpmac It's open, but for a much higher price per kWh. You didn't mention that because you where not honest.
@@HermanWillemsHow much?
A larger battery is fine. But the kWh/100 km consumption is higher in the BYD. Every kWh the car needs, has to be paid. So why not compare the cost of driving in AUD/100 km for both models? E.g. cost of charging at home and (average price of) fast charger per kWh.
The main thing is saftey and software. Tesla will definitely always keep updating software. I have a 2019 model 3 and will get updates until the car dies.
With saftey its hard to beat Tesla. Look up the crash test reports in your country to see the saftey score. Here in the US it is 4.8/5.
I'll go for BYD
1. More physical button which I could stay focus on road condition and control car / entertainment system simultaneously.
2. Tesla 3 exterior look boring after so many year in market.
Old and New model 3 look similar exterior
3. BYD's sunroof without central bar look way better
Does the Seal have vehicle to load?
Yes
Yes and Tesla doesn't
As for the TM3. When it comes to safety you don’t remove anything. Have redundant systems that compliment the main. Don’t rely on just one thing. If it crashes in to things while parking what’s it going to do at speed?... great review and Chanel guys.
Model 3 or Model Y for that matter never had front bumper camera.
There was never a front camera on the model 3
Tesla Model 3! ❤

Seems like this review was pre-determined for Tesla. BYD is way better, which was even brought out in this video. Minimalist, no thanks.
Tesla is the best car company ever! No gas stations, No oil changes, No smog check, No corrupt dealership, No catalytic converter and fast as fuck!
And what other EV doesn't have those same qualities. Fit and finish are notoriously bad on Teslas and it has that "Musky" stench.
BYD is better, also Hyundai
don't forget many things like glove box wipers ect. can be done with voice commands without taking your eyes off the road.
Addicted to your reviews. Find myself watching every episode even if the car doesn't interest me. Keep it up lads
Most are from Chinese decent living in the west. Trying to justify their political purchase.
But you can put to a supercharger that’ll go up to 350kw/h not just 175, you’ll spend double of time to charge the seal, plus where to charge?
In the Netherlands we are covered with Charge points but when you looking into the real charging capacity you must be Happy when you get 120 Amp..
when you are using 350kw charging. You dont get 350kw all the way. maybe from 10%-40% you will get 350KW, towards the 60-80%, you will probably getting between 70kw-120kw.
Incredible review & summary of both vehicles! Pretty much exactly my thoughts after driving both.
Which is faster isn't really more important than other things for many people.
Yup, like quality.... ruclips.net/video/IInTanHjnK0/видео.html
Tesla 🎉
The fact that new car (BYD Seal) is being compared to eight year old Tesla proves that Model 3 is a bench mark. Clearly, new BYD owners are furious that their car is still being considered as second best. Sorry, too bad too sad. Just get on with your choice and call it a day. Be thankful to Tesla for pushing other car manufacturers to come up with something better, finally, after eight years, BYD made a good car if not better.
nah mate, this version of M3 is not 8 years old.
I got BYD Seal with option pack cold here "Excellence", the top-spec with a 520km battery range and I love it❤❤❤❤🎉
Tried both. I picked Tesla due to better charging network, and software included travel planning system.
BYD for me!
Well done guys, great review. You have definitely improved with your reviews.
That's not to say that the BYD Seal is bad car - far from it, it's just not the EV for me 😊
When did the model 3 have a front camera??
It never had a front camera I NEVER (and neither did the other Tesla's until The Cybertruck)
@@Warekiwi Model 3 has had a front camera since 2017 when they first made them, how do you think FSD sees the front of the car?
I think in the first images it had one which was later removed from the pictures. People assumed it would come with a camera.
Obviously BYD seal is just better.
Model Y Performance for me. The BYD just uses copy/paste but their paste function seems to make it worse.
The reason we went BYD is it's much better in so many ways. Our BYD is so perfectly built. if you look at the attention to detail and build quality BYD is outstanding compared to Tesla creaks and rattles.
Tesla is regressive, not innovative when you remove indictor stalks, I would like the indictor stalks and a price bump
Excellent comparison guys. My head says the BYD, my heart says the Tesla.
Handling first, Random steering inputs and Phantom Braking will make my decision I think…
Thanks for the great video.
I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Tesla, so it’s the BYD for me
bought the BYD of course.
