You don’t need to join the supercharge network unless you want to charge a non Tesla. The car is automatically a member so you get the cheapest prices for charging.
Even if you're in a Tesla you can still buy the membership to get 20% off all Supercharging (at least here in Canada/USA - that may not be the same for UK)
You can control the A/C temp with both hands on the wheel. You can program the left scroll wheel button so that when you press and hold it for a second, it brings up the A/C menu, then scrolling the wheel to increase or decrease the Temp.

Great review. Bought a Tesla Model S back in 2014. Now 147,000 miles 10 years later my car always was and still is incredible and its better and faster! In fact the total package has developed so well its perfect. In all the miles Ive driven Ive only ever had to wait twice at a Supercharger both times less than 5 minutes and only once been to a stall that did not work but then again there was only a handful of chargers in the whole country. Tesla uses no Radar or Lidar, only vision....why? Because the real world is driven by bioptical systems (us) and although hellish difficult cars equipped other wise will be confronted with a situation where the bin bag in the wind looks like a dog to the radar yet the camera system has not had the billions of $$$ thrown at it as the reliance was put on some other means ,.....which is right.....err on side of "safty" and slam on the brakes........bad idea on a motorway.
Touché! So I just traded in my 2018 Tesla Model 3 for a 2024 Model S, and I can attest to the fact that, everything you just said is true, and verifiable. So having said that, as more people become familiar with BEV’s in general, and in particular BEV’s manufactured by Tesla, they’re going to want one. It should be noted, that what the gentleman in the video failed to mention, is that, and I guess this is true of all EV’s, you can charge anywhere as long as you have an adapter, and you can’t do that with an ICE car, as no one I know of has a gas station in their garage, and even if you wanted one, assuming it would be affordable, which it is not, there are zoning laws that would restrict you from doing something like that, because it’s just too dangerous. The other thing I noticed in his video was that when he decided to navigate to a specific location, he started typing that information onto the screen, and you don’t need to do that, as all he needed to do was to use the voice command to tell it to navigate to your destination, and this is an important safety practice too, particularly when you’re driving, and you want to go to a different location, using voice command means that you never have to take your eyes off the road. So owning a Tesla in my opinion has so many more benefits over gas cars. Cheers 🥂

You have to be v careful of the battery but there are plenty of Model S that are v good. Bargain if you find with the free charging. However Tesla will remove this if you visit their service centre.
one thing not mentioned is speed control. when petrol or diesel cars hit a hill with cruise engaged they slow down a bit. this can be frustrating when you're driving a Tesla (or one would assume any EV) as the speed control is that accurate with such huge power available the speed looks like its painted on the screen. select 70Mph, come hill, wind, rain or shine you're doing 70, well unless a petrol car is the the bloody way!

@rugbygirlsdadg AI4 (HW4) cameras have an anti-glare film (cameras look red under proper light), so they're not affected by sunlight or rain. However, heavy fog might be a major issue, but so it is for radars and ultrasonics too, due to the low resolution (radar) and close range (ultrasonics). Lidars on the other hand are quite good in foggy environments, due to laser being able to penetrate fog. In these conditions, tbh, even humans have drastically limited driving performances, so it would be better to wait until fog disappears, both with full-self driving or "biological" driving enabled :)
This review was a breath of fresh air! I quit watching RUclips channels that subtly bash Tesla and Elon Musk whenever they think they can. It's the first sign someone is actually an idiot.

Re : charging I had a block put on my credit card on holiday because of a dodgy QR code on a non-tesla charger. This meant my card could not be used by Tesla on my account (since it was now blocked), but it let me charge on the way home racking up about £20 credit on my tesla account before blocking supercharger access when I got home. Ie Tesla let me get home before blocking my access to fuel.
The thing which is seldom mentioned is the added cost to insure an EV. I'm retired, 77 years old and drive less then 3000 miles a year. Tesla quoted me $305 a month, while I currently pay $68 for my ICE car and spend about $50 a month for gas. The insurance increase totally wipes out any potential saving from not needing to buy gas and oil changes.
I was appalled to see you sitting on the bonnet at the end there. Maybe you were not aware the bonnet is aluminium and needs a very gentle and precise 2 handed operation to close it correctly without creating dents? Maybe they have a bum cheek sensor now?
The £10 a month supercharging subscription is for non Tesla vehicles as Teslas already get the lower price. Also HW3, HW4 and upcoming HW5 are only for full self driving and not the infotainment system. You do get better quality cameras tho.
People get in my car and I show them this stuff and you can see them thinking "hey thats pretty cool". Then I let them drive it and I reach over and click the stalk (M3 p 2021 model) and the car takes over makes a u-turn or goes around a roundabout and you can literally see them in real time as their mind is blown! hahaha. You don't need to click on the temp to adjust climate, you can simply just swipe it left or right to make it warmer or colder (same with the volume, for that matter). As for the gear, i simply can't understand how so many people seem to think. You're far from the only one complaining about this, but in my opinion your thinking here make absolutely no logical sense. I mean, think about it - if you want to go forward it would make totally sense to swipe forward instead of backwards, right? Now, of course the screen isn't laying flat as that would make it highly impractical, so instead it's lifted up, still with what would have been facing forward now being up - so naturally the most logical would have to be swipe up to go forwards.. i think many people are just being stuck in the past and complaining because of the silly "i always had to push a stalk DOWN to do forwards, and i don't want any changes" , even though the change is far more logical.

Excellent review. Had my Model 3 Performance 2020 car 21000 miles for just over a week, best second hand bargain ever! It IS excellent.
You can change the temperature without taking your eyes off the road with a simple voice command
Just bought two and traded in the ICE cars so loved this, great presentational style, entertaining and informative, what more do you need 👍
My wife adapted to the new turn signals in less than 30 minutes and loves it.
Howard Richie, the performance standard in car reviews.
Wow, seeing how many are on their way to the supercharger? Thats crazy
How do you lower the widows ???
With buttons on the door.
Durrrrr feel stupid now 😮 😂
I always wondered if BRITISH humour was lame. And with this video, I have it confirmed. And I LOVE IT. Thank you guiys
Cheers lol
Great video car content 🎉
Couldn't agree more!
All the points you make are brilliant.
Excellent review, as ever. I am tempted by a Tesla, but I've yet to drive one....... this was helpful!
Tesla have remote unmanned test centres all over the country. I test drive a M3 very close to my home. Wonderful car
The airco thing can be turned on or off with voice control is it? Not really a super negative thing I guess......😊
What a refreshing review. 👍
How durable is the charging port?
I can’t speak for the CCS version, but the NACS port has never given me any problems, and I’ve owned my Model 3 LR for over 6 years.
10:53 Agreed! Hankook are superb. Done 37k on our 19"s on Y LR. Grippy & quiet in all conditions & seasons. Changed at 32k approx.
Excellent review as usual informative and funny
The directions for forward and reverse on screen are actually intuitive. I have the stalks and it’s never made sense to me that you pull down to go forward.
It's because ice cars with gear shifts pull down through the gears. They just made it familiar
I like the look of the tesla, and will be interested in one when it comes with a diesel 😊
Well done. Good, informative and relatable. Kudos from South Africa
Love the humour.
You might implode with excitement after the adaptive headlights and holiday season update 😜
Slightly related. I’m looking at buying a Gen 1 Model S. Was my dream car in high school. And I daily a Gen 1 Leaf, so do you guys think it’s worth a buy in 2024? I see them for around $10k
You have to be v careful of the battery but there are plenty of Model S that are v good. Bargain if you find with the free charging. However Tesla will remove this if you visit their service centre.
This is one of the reasons that Tesla does not have to advertise. Thank you for your commentary.
First venture into Tesla, 20 plate SR+ £18000 43000mls ................. love it to bits.
Change temp from steering wheel.
As a Tesla Model 3 2024 owner I really enjoyed your review... great fun just like the Tesla ecosystem.
2:50 - is it the maple kind?
Might be yah.
I really like this review 👌🌟
Like your video , you have a great future .
customized lock sounds, 9 cameras, rebates, free charging stations, light shows, ambient lighting, fast, fun and even farts.
Round of applause.
Wow. Loved this review. Thank you.
one thing not mentioned is speed control.
when petrol or diesel cars hit a hill with cruise engaged they slow down a bit.
this can be frustrating when you're driving a Tesla (or one would assume any EV) as the speed control is that accurate with such huge power available the speed looks like its painted on the screen.
select 70Mph, come hill, wind, rain or shine you're doing 70, well unless a petrol car is the the bloody way!
Great video, I'm looking to buy my first ev hadn't considered Tesla due to some bad comments about build quality but having watched a number of RUclips videos and various other reviews it's now on the list, however, I have heads up display on my current car and Tesla doesn't have that option 😢

The car doesn’t rely on any Lidar…But on 7+1 cameras and the high performance AI4 FSD chip.
Presumably cameras don't work in heavy fog?
Again apologies for the confusion, we know he will be absolutely gutted to have got this wrong, thank you for the clarity.
@@rugbygirlsdadg nor does radar, lidar or any other dar
As Grand Tour comes to an end, will Amazon sign up Howard?? I hope so. So many funny moments!!! 5:16
This review was a breath of fresh air! I quit watching RUclips channels that subtly bash Tesla and Elon Musk whenever they think they can. It's the first sign someone is actually an idiot.
I wish it could do v2g. Plus I wish it was cheaper. Otherwise I’d get one
Same, I had to go with another brand with equal specs for 10k less which has V2L
Excellent video
Brilliant review!
Am I the 600 like and a new sub❤
Excellent review! Im not a huge fan of Teslas, to be honest. I know a guy who owns one. He has a Tesla T-shirt, Cup, Keyring, and probably bed sheets. However, that being said.....This review might just persuade me to nip into a local dealership to check one out!
I test drove a M3 RWD. I ordered one straight after the drive and delivered a month later. Amazing car. My diesel car feels old tech now.
Sad fact: The famous talking doggy at 2:48 is no longer with us. 😢
Tesla is the safest car for any family. This is the main reason why I have one.
Great review!
You are right about the EV slagging, it really does get tiresome.
I love Your humour take on it all. Great job. 😂.
Re : charging
I had a block put on my credit card on holiday because of a dodgy QR code on a non-tesla charger.
This meant my card could not be used by Tesla on my account (since it was now blocked), but it let me charge on the way home racking up about £20 credit on my tesla account before blocking supercharger access when I got home. Ie Tesla let me get home before blocking my access to fuel.
Favorite thing is the FSD, hands down! Best feature ever and can’t wait for summon next week! I believe its future is here…
The AI5 has nothing to do with the UI!!
Great review. Thanks.
Tesla owners do not need the £10 a month subscription for supercharging, they always get the cheapest rate
Thanks for being pro Tesla / Elon !!!
I'm happy I went with a Model Y for a 2-year lease.
The £10 a month supercharging subscription is for non Tesla vehicles as Teslas already get the lower price.
Also HW3, HW4 and upcoming HW5 are only for full self driving and not the infotainment system. You do get better quality cameras tho.
The awd and performance have the premium interior. Better material and stereo. Rwd is base
well done !
People get in my car and I show them this stuff and you can see them thinking "hey thats pretty cool". Then I let them drive it and I reach over and click the stalk (M3 p 2021 model) and the car takes over makes a u-turn or goes around a roundabout and you can literally see them in real time as their mind is blown! hahaha. Im waiting on my new one now just a week away from selling my 21 model 3 , the dude buying it couldnt believe how good the FSD was.
Justin Waller's twin
It’s hard to imagine how much money we are saving from our diesel SUV all wheel drive with our model Y performance. I think now we’re gonna replace our 2013 beater with another model Y performance.
I thought this would be a neutral unbiased review. My mistake lol.
For the newbie if you are actually trading in the crypto space. and you don't have a sound mentor. Then you are certainly going to get liquidated in 90% of your trades. Yeah that's the sad truth. I remember when I just got into crypto back in 2019 but later in 2020 I ended up selling it because I have lost alot trading all by myself without a guide. Got back into crypto early in 2023 with $10k and I'm up with $128k in a short period of time
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Success is a state of mind. I think I'm blessed because if not I wouldn't have met someone who is as spectacular as expert Brydeen T
It's a miracle and I would testify, $110,000 every 4 weeks! I now have a big mansion and can now afford anything and also support God's work and the church.
cool
For the climate control, you can use voice control. No need to touch the screen. You can even just say I am hot and the car will automatically reduce the temp by 3 degrees.
I think the reason your reviews are so good is because you spend time with a car. Only reviews worth watching IMO….
Tesla uses NEITHER Lidar OR Radar. They rely on Tesla designed cameras.
My Model Y went 91 miles from 92soc to 21soc.
More facts needed. Past couple of days, we've just done 244 miles, started with 100%, still have 30% left. Model Y LR.
@@djtaylorutube Obviously you are not on the highway going 85mph.
@@grabir01 Not for that trip no but done hundreds of miles through France at that speed and faster in Germany.
To arrive at your figure is about 1.6 miles per kWh or around 616Wh/mile.
Never seen figures like that in mine.
@@djtaylorutube This was my Tesla model Y in Germany. I went from Heilbronn to Frankfurt . SOC started was 92 arrived was 21SOC. Google the miles. Around 91 miles or so. Loved the car BTY. Hated charging it all the time. To Charge from 38-90+ SOC cost 50-60 EUROS. Took 45mins maybe an hour. On the Auto Bahn if you drive 85-90 in the slower land, that equates to "Charge an Hour to Drive an Hour".
@@grabir01 Charge at home, not always with public charging. Everyone knows the charge curve tails off after 80%, otherwise it doesn't take that long, half that time.
Sounds like you got just about everything going wrong there. 🙂
Your break pads must last for years.
Down means forwards. Must be left handed thinking 😂 6:18
The member thing is only for non-Teslas!!!!
Now, of course the screen isn't laying flat as that would make it highly impractical, so instead it's lifted up, still with what would have been facing forward now being up - so naturally the most logical would have to be swipe up to go forwards.. i think many people are just being stuck in the past and complaining because of the silly "i always had to push a stalk DOWN to do forwards, and i don't want any changes" , even though the change is far more logical.
oh earth is forward for forward not logical ? Love the presentational style 👍
I thought I was watching TWF at 12:10
If Tesla can stock their spares well in the UK, then the insurance will be cheaper.
Hilarious! RDJ is in da 3.
ha ha I think up should mean forward. Like a street sign. Actually not all street signs...
